This place is great. They're usually really quick unless it's really busy. I always order ahead so I rarely have that issue. The only reason I'm not giving 5 stars is because they're not always consistent. Some days you get the best platter of food and the pricing varies depending on who's at the register. The home fries are amazing and perfectly seasoned. The eggs are kinda rubbery though but the bacon is sooo good. I don't know what they use but it does not taste like low-quality bacon. read more

Located a stones throw away from the Amityville train stop this place has the goods to make your commute a pleasant one. The self serve coffee is A-ok and you definitely cant go wrong with any of their breakfast sandwiches. Review of Catering service: We hired John to cater our wedding in our home on Saturday and here's the bottom line- Good: -Food was excellent. Everyone loved it. -The two girls who were hired were amazing and perfect and so hard- working. Bad: -Initial​ contact with him was unreliable and that should​ have​ been our first sign. Lesson learned. Two of my friends who hired them said they had a similar experience but the food was worth it. -Although we met with John at our home 3-4 times prior to our event, he still showed up the day before and the day of not clear on the start time or program. (Party started at 5 and up until 3 hours​ before our guests arrived,​ he continued​​ to get the timing wrong asking cocktail​ passing at 4pm???, despite several conversations and him "taking notes".) -The day before our wedding, he came to deliver tables right as we were getting ready to leave for our rehearsal​ dinner. Again, unclear about where to place the tables and timing of food, despite several meetings and conversations I walk out in my robe and he says to me IN FRONT OF MY HUSBAND, "ARE YOU NAKED UNDER THERE?" My reaction, "ew, gross" and had to ONCE AGAIN go through the program with him. Other times he spoke to me called me honey, and could not FOR THE LIFE OF HIM remember my name until I corrected him. Same with my husbands. -The BARTENDER we hired through him: Danielle- 1. She put out a tip cup for our guests to tip her. Thankfully, that was caught early and taken down. Tacky. 2. She got SMASHED off the alcohol we purchased and told our guests we were out of certain beverages. She loaded up a garbage bag with unopened alcohol​ and brought it to the front of our house​ presumably to throw out or take with her, she was totally incoherent by the time she was asked to leave. 3. ​Several of my guests alerted me to her state and when I told her to call someone to pick her up and leave she told me (the bride) I was making her uncomfortable. SMH. She also gave people beer and due to her crappy pour, blew the "Head" off with her mouth. many times. 4. The other girls could not get a hold of John while this was going on and​ were left with cleaning up after the bartender once she left. When John arrived the next day to pick up his remaining items at our house he apologized for Danielle's behavior, NOT his own, and said he would give us a deal the next time.. uhh.. no. After living in Texas for 6 years, I hadn't had a decent sandwich to save my life...there's not a single Deli anywhere you look. When we moved back home, I discovered KJ's the very next day, just driving around the neighborhood to get a feel for the area. Instantly, John (The "J" in "KJ") made me feel at home. It was like I'd never left New York. He made great conversation with me, was super-kind to my 4 year old little girl, and made the hero just the way I asked. I told him he'd be seeing me a lot, and I've been going once a week, every week, since we moved back. There's lot of choices - KJ's has a ton of heroes to choose from, or you can specify your own. Breakfast is every bit as good as lunch...my daughter absolutely loves the blueberry pancakes (hell, so do I - I've ordered them for lunch plenty of times). Heroes come tightly packed so there's little mess despite being fully loaded. The staff is great and quickly learn to recognize you. I've even seen plenty of repeat customers in my visits. Sure, the bathroom is always out of order and the ice machine doesn't work, but I'm not coming here for an upscale dining experience - I'm coming for good old fashioned New York deli sandwiches, and KJ's never fails to meet my expectations. Located right across from the Amityville LIRR train station makes grabbing breakfast on the go simple. I stop in here whenever I'm heading out east (he's just off Sunrise Highway) for morning work appointments for my breakfast fix. We've also used him for catering many times and everyone always raves (mac and cheese, chicken fingers, wings, pasta!!!). This is one of the best delis in East Massapequa/Amityville area. Whether it's an awesome breakfast sandwich you are looking for or a hero for lunch it's fresh made and tastes great. The coffee is excellent along with great tasting ice tea. The catering they provide is also excellent. All of this and the prices are excellent considering what many other delis would charge. SUCKEDDD. I ordered a hero with grilled chicken mayo lettuce tomato and bacon. The chicken and mayo tasted not fresh. All I could compare it to is when you leave the mayo out for a few days and put it back in the fridge like it didn't happen.. and same with chicken. Hard to explain, It didn't taste rotten but def a disappointment . I have lived in this area for about 15 years. When I first moved here I was told that KJ' s is a "must". The food was always pretty good but I was turned off by the cashier multiple times. I even spoke to her boss, but he told me that even though she had the personality of a rain puddle, she was reliable and he had no choice. Fast forward 10 YEARS. I love this place!! They have the best sandwiches in the area. I am thrilled that I don't have to ask for fried eggs with my morning breakfast sandwich (which means they are using real eggs instead of packaged frozen stuff). Staff is always helpful and attentive. Every sandwich is absolutely amazing and I have tried a lot! Between the Italian heros, chicken club, roast beef melt, kj's special, and chicken salad BLT, I can't pick a favorite. It all depends on what mood you are in! And the bread is the best!!
