DON'T WASTE YOUR TIME! I went to buy a used car, test drove it, and loved it. I was ready to purchase but the manager refused to run the numbers with my credit score and down payment. He made is very clear that he was only concerned about making sales for NEW cars, rather than used. He left and came back with discounts and deals for a new car three times. He never came back with any actual numbers for the used car that I went there to buy. When I wouldn't budge on switching my car choice he got an attitude and I left. His attitude was belittling, rude, and condescending. I'm convinced that the used cars on their lot are only there lure you in. Bait and switch to try to sell you a new car. It's disgusting. They lived up to all the negative car buying stereotypes. read more

I purchased a CPO car in December 2022, and just took it in for the first servicing to a closer Nissan dealer and was taken back when they told me the rear brakes needed to be replaced. There is no way with only putting on 3000 miles breaks would go from what they told me to virtually unusable. The sales rep then said bring it here as that other dealer is just trying to sell you something, but to tell me to drive a car that I am being told is NOT safe and to flat out give company lines is outrageous. I feel extremely slimly and I will absolutely pass the word that this dealership needs a LOT of help from speaking from both sides of their mouth. I purchased a one year maintenance contract--good deal if put based when you purchased the car It is extremely easy to get an appt for service. Everyone is extremely professional. The customer waiting area has free coffee, pastries and fruit, comfortable sofas and chairs and a room if you want to work in your laptop. Purchased a certified used Armada on 6/4. Was surprised to be charged extra (about $2k) over advertised price this car to certify it. The ad online said the car was certified. Negotiated my old car for a trade and negotiated having a ding in the door fixed and a full detail. Was told the car would be ready by the following Wednesday 6/10. 6/10 came and went. No car, no call. The week of 6/15 i finally got someone on the phone. Went down there and I picked up an Armada to borrow because the stinky Sentra they let me borrow was not cutting it for our family. They said the car would be ready by 6/19. 6/18 they called asking me for the remaining balance. I told them they could have it when I got the car. The saleswoman "wanted to close out the month." 6/19- no call, no car. I got someone on the phone around 4pm, they said it would be ready Monday. Apparently the body shop was "delayed because of Covid" Monday 6/22- no call, no car. I got them on the phone around 3pm, they promised it would be ready Wednesday. Wednesday 6/24 4pm- no call, no car. I finally got the woman on the phone- she promises they will deliver it Thursday 6/25 at 1pm. 6/25- At 3pm when she finally shows up- the saleswoman tells me their detailed quit which is why the car is dirty. I gave the COD check bc I wanted this nightmare to end. I drive the car down the street and notice 2 dings in the windshield, black ants in the interior, a lighter in the backseat and a broken taillight. Remember- "certified" car. They returned to get the care that night, at 7pm when they said they would be here at 5. Today 6/26 in the AM, I had a conversation with the sales manager who promised he would call me back with a status update by 1pm. 1pm came and went. My husband called at 3, the guy swears he never told me he would call by a certain time and promised the car by Tuesday 6/30. He also promised he wouldn't deposit our COD check until he made things right. They cashed our check anyway- it cleared 6/26. That's right folks, I bought a car 23 days ago that I still don't have. My old car is already traded to them, they took my check- AND STILL NO CAR. We are trying to cancel the transaction and get our money back. Also waiting for a call back from this guys boss, which I'm sure won't happen. If you want to be super aggravated buy a car here. Can't help but feel like we are getting taken for a ride. Made an appointment for a test drive. Appeared at the scheduled time. Some sort of party going on, with people eating cake. Was told, none too politely, to make an appointment and come back another time. Said I already had an appointment. Blank look, shrug, forkful of cake into mouth. Turned and walked out. Never again. To be clear, not just never again with this dealership, never again with Nissan. (And they make very good vehicles. I've owned two Altimas, and I'd still like a Leaf.) While on my test drive was asked to come back another time because "management wants us to focus on people buying cars today." Salesman didn't even shake my hand, give me his card, or anything. I've been recommended to shop at Bruce Bennett Nissan for a long time. Finally, ready for a car, I searched their inventory online. I was looking for pre-owned to be very budget conscious. After entering my info, I received 1email, 2 texts, and 2 phone calls. I mention that because other places try to contact so much it really pushes me away. Arthur was my salesperson. He was extremely professional, helpful, knowledgeable, and didn't try to upsell me or make me uncomfortable. We test drove the options I inquired about. I chose 1 of them. During the inspection, they found that the car needed some TLC. Arthur followed up with me & was very transparent. Cars are such an expense & can be a stressful purchase. I never felt pressured, or pushed into a decision. Other local dealers have made me feels discomfort. In the end, I highly recommend purchasing a car at Bruce Bennett Nissan. Bought a new vehicle here recently. Depending on who you interact with here, you'll either have a good time or an awful time waste. Sales person was good. Professional, upfront about the mandatory markup, got stuff done quickly, valued my trade high compared to Carmax so netted out to MSRP for a high demand vehicle. Then the finance office started their nonsense games. First, they magically mixed up the loan amounts to add an additional 4k to purchase price, then they tried to include hidden warranties, then it was the etching fees added to loan amount without explanation. We had to redraw the purchase agreement 3 times and me threatening to walk out before they actually wrote in the amounts that were agreed to with the sales person. I drove over 1 hour to go there because their sales department is honest and never pushy. My salesperson was Declan. I purchased both of my cars from Declan. He is amazing, and I would return to upgrade my car with him only. I bought a 2016 Maxima, and my wife purchased a 2017 Rouge. I had a small issue with their service department. But Brian the parts and service director stepped in and provided first class service. He was a real gentleman and made sure that I was happy with the outcome. My friend purchased a new car and was given a defective key. She was asked to bring it back. They they realized it was the wrong key. They wanted her to come back again to have it reprogrammed. I was really impressed with Bruce Bennett Nissan. I worked with Paul Pinto, who was no nonsense in any way. Very down to earth, very reasonable, didn't try to B.S. me. I wound up buying a much better car there than any of the other dealerships would have allowed for the payment I needed to be at. They barely marked the vehicle up. Bought two cars in one day in June - one from our Local Bruce Bennett Nissan and the other from D'Addario Nissan in Shelton. I have purchased cars before with BB without issue . I must say, the service has gone down hill at BB. I had a 12:30 appointment time and spent and 1 and 1/2 hrs playing ping pong and basketball while waiting for Hussan, the Finance Manager. He was in his office laughing and joking around with his coworkers. I had enough and at 2:00pm I told the sales rep I could not wait anymore. The sales rep went and opened Hassan's door and explained I was walking out and "lo and behold" he was now ready to see us. I was buying another vehicle at 4 in Shelton. First Hussan said, well I went ahead and added the Certified Pre-Owned Wrap to the vehicle - basically bumper to bumper protection for $2,200. I said, I didn't want that as the vehicle already had a 7 year 100,000 mile warranty. Hussan insisted I wanted this. I told him I did NOT want this and he backed off after I spoke to the Manager and then he took it off the contract. Then Hussan said "I got you 72 month financing." I said, "No, I asked for 60 mths." He insisted that he was able to get me a much better rate at 72 months. (I questioned the rate - he said we will get to that later.) Well needless to say the rate was 5.84%! I have an excellent credit score and put 1/2 down in cash. I was in a rush now and although I was getting angrier by the minute I kept signing documents. I wish now I had walked out!!! Later that night, while reviewing the documents I noticed I was missing the actual Retail Purchase Agreement. After at least 6 call to the dealership I was provided with a copy of the Retail Purchase Agreement and 1) They charged me $895 more for the cash price for the car. I have a copy of the deal we agreed upon the day we we test drove the car and it was clearly incorrect on the contract AND 2) Hussan neglected to add the $500 deposit I put down on the car the day we test drove it. I have repeatedly called the Sales Rep, Hussan the Finance Manager, the Finance VP with no results. Today I called the Manager and that did not go well as the Manager had Hussan call me - who then yelled at me that I was late to my appointment, which I was not! That I signed the documents and the deal was done. Needless to say, he got a piece of my mind. I will NEVER do business with BB again - they certainly are NOT the same car dealership they used to be. On the flip side to this story, I arrived at 4 at D'Addario to buy my second Nissan of the day. Their Finance Manager was wonderful - he had all the paperwork ready. Same deal (price) - paid 1/2 cash and financed half. Unlike BB, D'Addario was able to get me the 60mths at 4.99 from Nissan AND Certified Pre-Owned Wrap with Nissan for $1,800 (not the $2,200 BB was charging.) I bought it for BOTH cars on the SPOT!! Many of us are scrambling to find used cars now - if you have been looking you know how hard it is and how expensive. The last thing we need is to get horrible customer service from our local dealership. Please do your homework, check any and all documents before signing (I know better!), don't be rushed through and do the math - they can't be trusted! Most importantly - you are the customer - you deserve to be treated honestly and with respect. I will now sit and wait for BB to refund my $500 deposit. It's already been 15 days! In my opinion, horrible customer experience - Went into facilitate a lease buyout and was told that I needed to pay the dealership for wheel locks and vin etching at $590 as it's required by the State. I already have vin etching and wheel locks, and was told I had to pay the dealership anyway. When I challenged the price and advised I would report to the state of CT and Nissan Motor Acceptance Corp, the Dealership cancelled the deal even though I had all the paperwork ready and check in hand. I bought my first car here (Nissan Altima Hybrid) after going to around 10 different dealerships. Only here did they listen to my ramblings and look at my research for the best car price. I truly believe I got the best price I could have for my car. In return, I've been coming here to get my car maintained. As with all dealership mechanics, the prices are sky high. The reason I keep coming back is the nice waiting room, good coffee and friendly staff. Still, sometimes I need to close my eyes when signing the bill.
