For what it is (a greasy, sweet-savory monstrosity haha), it was good- honestly I was just intrigued by the concept. Would I get it again? Absolutely not, but I totally would just get the maple French toast bagel with honey walnut cream cheese. Can't comment on ambiance or service since we got take out. 6/10 would maybe recommend the Vermonter, but I'm sure they have more heart-healthy options. read more

We go to the Bruegher's Bagel in South Durham. Over the years we attend we always enjoy eating there. When it is very busy I wish they have more space. The food is great! The bagels are very very good. My bagel standard is very high, so its a real compliment. The lox (smoked salmon) is fresh and also measures up. There's a variety of breads, sandwich meats, veggies cheese etc, Also their carry out spreads and bagels of course along with your take out foods. It never disappoints. Service is very good as you go through the line. The ambiance is clean and utilitarian. All the money is spent on the fresh food and staff. Coffee is good enough. They share a large parking lot but even at breakfast and lunch a parking space is available. Just be careful of the people who don't drive safely. read more

We had a few separate orders between us and she got frustrated and said to another employee "im going to put them all in the same bag and they can figure it out." I have been coming here for the last 5 years because of it's proximity to work and because my choices are limited when it comes to getting a breakfast bagel. Let me preface this by saying that I have no problem with the staff. They are always friendly and generally seem happy to interact with the customers. I am also not giving this place 2 stars because of the bagels. They are good although rather on the small side. I am giving this place 2 stars for their practices when it comes to the rations they give out with the bagels. Maybe I am just a transplanted New Yorker who is used to a bagel with copious amounts of cream cheese. Maybe I didn't get the memo that currently, we are at Winterfell and the Night King and his army of the undead, has laid a siege at our castle walls. Thus, making it a necessity, to ration out the cream cheese in minuscule, thimble-sized portions. When I order an "Everything bagel w/ cream cheese" it comes back to me like I said "Can I get an everything bagel with the slightest hint of cream cheese" The catalyst for this review came when I ordered an "Everything bagel / Avocado"....what I got back was a bad joke. The travesty l got, nowhere resembled the bagel with overflowing avocado they like to display on their menu. It's as if they reluctantly put avocado on the bagel and then scraped it off with great malice. I don't think I had enough avocado on the bagel to get a DNA sample. If you want to enjoy a bagel with avocado I suggest you BYOA. read more

Bruegger's Bagels is one of the better bagel chains that I've been to. Food: Skinny Bacon Avocado & Tomato Egg White (4/5): I loved the flavors in this sandwich. Packed with protein and good fats, I would suggest this to anyone that doesn't want a super heavy bagel sandwich. Twice Baked Hash Brown (2/5): May have been because I ordered take-out and didn't really eat it fresh, but this was an oily ball of gloop. If you're into that, more power to ya. My recommendation: This one's up to you, their bagels are pretty much exactly what you'd expect. Pick the fillers you normally like, or try something new! Service and Facility: For a chain, it had pretty good service and was well maintained. Their COVID precautions made me comfortable ordering from them. Their hours are 6am-2pm, so get your fix in the morning! Bang/Buck: The bagels are pretty small, but they're going for 4-5 bucks for a breakfast sandwich. I visit this location several times a year, since it's sort of close to my work. The bagels and cream cheese are good, of course, and the bagels are extra yummy when they're still warm. On a recent visit, I got a tuna melt on regular wheat bread and a cup of vegetable soup. The tuna melt was especially yummy! This is a cool location in what looks to be a very old bank, but it's obviously been a bagel store for a long time too. It's the only place I know where you can get smoked salmon on a bagel in this area. The bagels are good toasted, but they're not that big. I guess they do have other sandwiches that might be bigger for lunch. It's nice to sit at the window upstairs and watch the weird shenanigans by the Burrito store (Cosmic Cantina) across the street. Came here for Bruegger's anniversary to receive 3 FREE bagels. That's right - not one, not two, but THREE bagels for FREE!! What other bagel shop does that??! None that I know of! There's really no catch! All you have to do is sign up, and you'll get an email to show to the cashier. Just walk in, pick your 3 bagels, show your email to the cashier, and voila! Free breakfast. Now THAT is how you advertise! Unfortunately, they ran out of Blueberry bagels and didn't have Chocolate Chip bagels (which I thought is part of the inventory at every bagel shop.....), so I chose 2 Cinnamon Sugar bagels and a Sundried Tomato bagel. Spread is extra, each tub is at least $3, not worth it unless you share a tub. Cinnamon Sugar is very sugary but good, reminds me of a doughnut. Came in at 6:50am on a Sunday after being at work at the hospital. Staff was very friendly despite the ungodly hour. Coffee was hot and tasty for a bagel chain (I'm definitely picky about coffee, so for what the place is, coffee is solid). I live for smoked salmon bagel sandwiches being from the northeast and all. I've patronized this location several times over the years. Hadn't been in a while and had to take bagels into work the other morning so I decided to stop by. The guy who was working the front (and has been for years) must've woke up on the wrong side of the bed. He was quick and seemed to not want to be bothered. I ordered a bagel bundle and when he asked the flavors he immediately began putting them on the bag. Then I told him that I wanted them sliced. He seemed bothered and so I apologized for not telling him earlier. His mannerism was not pleasant and was very short and cold. I won't be back to this location again just because of him. read more

This location on Ninth Street had the nicest employees ever! They have an upstairs area which is great for studying or if you're looking for a more private atmosphere, plus free wifi and all you can drink coffee. Bruegger's has delicious bagels, a huge variety of cream cheese and some bomb sandwiches. I love their seasonal coffee flavors [Pumpkin Spice and Coconut are delicious]. Not to mention the awesome hours (opening up at 5:30am and actually being awake!!) Plus, if you're a starving student, you're in luck, because Bruegger's has coupons everywhere, including a $1 every $4 you spend on your receipt, they have a VIP e-mail club that sends out monthly coupons and they have discounts in the Go, Play, Save books. But I've just got to say one more time, the employees here are great, it really makes the experience so much better when you have a great customer-service experience. read more

I'll freely admit that I am biased when it comes to bagels having lived the majority of my life in Jersey and also spending a good amount of time in New York. As others have said, the bagels at Bruegger's are definitely a far cry from those found in NJ/NY but they are certainly more than merely edible! Being a chain deli/bakery, Bruegger's naturally gives off that "chain vibe" which I guess can be positive in some ways rather than all negative. They do offer a wide variety of bagel "flavors" with tons of different types of cream cheeses. The bagels are not great but decent, and definitely get the job done when you're having a carb craving. They also offer a pretty wide variety of breakfast sandwiches, bagel sandwiches, and muffins for the AM, as well as a decent number of paninis, sandwiches, soups, and salads for later in the day. Again, I have not found anything to be out of this world phenomenal but everything is at least decent. Likewise, the coffee quality/taste is somewhere between the crap that I brew at home and the java you get served at your favorite cafe. Perks of this spot are the friendly service, the open feel to the space given the high ceilings, the free WiFi, and the upstairs area (not a bad spot to unwind and enjoy your middle of the road coffee). Another plus is the fact that there is a private lot, though some of those spots are at weird angles and thus may put you in the danger zone with respect to other vehicles/pedestrians/cyclists/homeless people when pulling in or backing out (keep your head on a swivel!). All in all, Bruegger's is a decent option in the markedly thin market for quality bagel shops in the Triangle but probably nothing to write home about (if home is in the Northeast). read more

I really like bagels. Mostly, I think it's genetic, but there is nothing than a bagel & shmear with lox, onion and tomato. However, I can't always afford that luxury (gotta watch the waistline!) so I get my favorite alternative from Brueggers. This is a chain, I shouldn't have to explain to the "Northerners" that these bagels AREN'T real NY bagels. These are the South's version. They're round, there's a hole and their loaded with whatever you want. But, it definitely ain't New York, baby. I do really like the fact that they'll make my bagel however I want. I also like the fact that they're quick, so when I'm running late and need to pick up a quick breakfast option, I know I can count on them. In fact, 9 times out of 10 if I need to grab breakfast on the way to work, I'm going to stop at Brueggers. I'd like to branch out, but I also really like dependable too. All that said, they get three stars because the coffee's always brewed too strong and the cost of a bagel & cream cheese is getting way out of hand. Plus, there's something too sweet about a plain bagel nowadays. I wonder if they've changed their recipe. read more

I went in the morning when I thought there would be a fresh batch, but it seems like they make a huge batch early rather than continuous make them. They have a large selection of flavors, but my favorite kind, everything bagel, was not quite as bursting with toppings as I had hoped. They are doughy, squishy, flavorless, textureless discs that happen to have a hole in them. We actually could not finish them they were so abominable. Great breakfast place if you're on the run and not looking for something sit-down, although the upstairs seating area is cozy. The staff doesn't seem to change over the dozens times I've been and they're always very friendly. This isn't a gourmet breakfast place so make sure to temper your expectations. There's another chain bagel place right down the street but I would choose this place 9 times out of 10. The Western bagel sandwich is always a safe bet for me. The bagels are typically fresh and the fresh-squeezed orange juice is always a tasty way to kickstart your day. Ask about their bagel rewards card (free, 9 sandwiches gets the 10th free). read more
