They have a decent amount of seating inside but I can imagine it gets packed at peak times and weekends. They offer a decent amount of bagel options, sadly no pumpernickel... The staff was super friendly and accommodating. Judging by the size of some of these bagel sandwiches this place doesn't believe in shrinkflation. I stopped by H&H Bagels on a Sunday morning, just a couple of months after they opened, and the place was already packed. The line moved as quickly as it could, and the staff remained friendly and efficient despite the crowd. The bagels are displayed in a glass container, which makes it easy to see the different varieties available that day. I ordered the Classic BEC (bacon, egg, and cheese) on an everything bagel. It took some time to get through the line and receive my order, but the team was clearly working hard to keep things moving. With the large crowd, the inside was pretty noisy, so I opted to sit outside. While the sandwich was decent, the bagel itself was denser than I prefer, and overall it didn't really stand out--especially for the price. As an ex New Yorker I have been on the hunt for a decent bagel since getting to North Carolina. I can honestly say after tasting H & H bagels, this ain't it. It pains me to say this. First, let's describe what a New York style bagel should be. A New York style bagel should be crispy and chewy on the outside, it should be springy, but not too dense on the inside. The unspoken flavor of a bagel is savory unless it is flavored with something sweet. I was hopeful. Yet my hopes were dashed when I ordered a breakfast sandwich on a sesame bagel. If you order a breakfast bagel sandwich, you probably won't even really taste most of the bagel. so those reviews that have said that the bagel sandwich ordered was good is very misleading. Now let's talk about what a New York style bagel is not. A New York style bagel is not sweet. These were, in fact they had a very weird sweet flavor. A New York style bagel is not dense and squishy like wet cardboard, these were. Overall, the portion was good. They were generous with cream cheese, the bacon not so much, even though I ordered "extra". The bagels are a decent size, but sadly two out of 10, would not recommend. these are actually a step below BRANDWEINS. I didn't think that was actually possible. It's the weird sweet flavor that does it. If you want a really good bagel, the best ones I found so far have been at Durham Food market in the everything bagels stall, not only are the bagels really amazing but they have these incredibly inventive sandwiches. For now, I will continue my search for authentic New York style bagels. For those of you in Chapel Hill looking for those do not go to H&H bagels. They are overpriced, disorganized unusually long lines and the bagels are just not that good. I will also mention that my bagel sandwich came with a hair in it. So I had half a sandwich and then I threw the rest out, gross. read more

Loved this bagel shop! The inside is always so clean and bright, with the windows and the blue and white tiles. I love how you can see the staff make your sandwich right in front of you with the glass panels! I always get a BEC with lettuce and tomato, and it always tastes so fresh. The bagel is usually massive, and I feel pretty full after I eat it. I've gotten this a couple times now, and my order has always hit. I wouldn't say it's a New York style bagel though. Went in on a Saturday mid morning while visiting a friend from out of town. This place was packed. Line wrapped throughout the store. Decided to wait in line vs drive elsewhere. Waited about 30-40min to order. Once at the counter there were several people working & taking orders. There was no clear system- just order from whoever is available. Got 2 sandwiches & split them. Ordered a bacon egg on sesame seed bagel. Added southwest sauce. Also scallion bacon tomato with everything bagel. Sandwiches were fine but i wouldn't wait that long again. The scallion bagel was better than the egg but they were nothing special in my opinion. Drinks were pricy so just got a water from the cashier. Wish there was a water station out on the floor. I was so excited to hear that H&H opened in the triangle since it's so hard to find a true NY style bagel here. Native New Yorker so am very familiar with the original H&H. Needless to say, I had high expectations. Well...my expectations didn't live up to the experience. Location is good, ambiance is a fancier bagel shop in comparison to NY & service was good. The bagels ARE NOT bagels. They are imposters...rolls pretending to be bagels. They don't have the prerequisite chewy boiled crust which makes a bagel. The dough itself has a strange sweetness that I normally don't find in a bagel. I ordered a medium tub of lox cream cheese. It's $11 for what amounts to about a 1/2 pt soup container. It was commercially produced cream cheese with little dots of lox in an orangish cream cheese...not the chunks of lox in homemade cream cheese that I was hoping for. Very disappointing. My friend and her family came here when H&H opened and loved it so much she brought me back with her to try. The line was almost out the door- but it was worth the wait! It goes by quick since there are 3-4 people making the bagels. I was drooling at each bagel they made as we were waiting. There are so many bagel options- I got jalapeño cheddar and my friend got plain. I loved my bagel and thought it was nice and soft and my friend said her plain bagel was perfect. I got the egg and cheese with a cream cheese base, and she got a bacon, egg, and cheese. The eggs are cracked and made fresh in front of you and are nice and cheesy. The complete sandwich itself was so delicious and hit the spot. My bagel was around $7 and hers was around $8. They had so many bagel options, cream cheese options, and toppings to choose from. I would definitely get a flavored cream cheese like the scallion one next time. Although they offer deli turkey meat, chicken salad, tuna salad, and salmon- I still wish they offered turkey sausage and turkey bacon so I could've enjoyed a nice BEC still since I don't eat pork. TL;DR: Friendly service, lovely building with easy parking, tasty bagel breakfast sandwich, but the bagels alone are not as good (Isaac's is far better) My ideal bagel has a crisp crust and a chewy interior, with enough flavor and textural contrast that I'll happily eat it plain. H&H's bagels don't quite get there, but they do great toasted in a hot sandwich. I got a sausage, egg, and cheese on an Asiago cheese bagel, toasted. The sausage was juicy and flavorful; the egg fluffy; the cheese an oozy, sticky mess (I assume American cheese), and the flavorful Asiago cheese bagel a warm delivery vehicle for it all. At just under $9 before tax, a solidly hearty and delicious breakfast option. I also got a bare cinnamon raisin bagel to assess for flavor and texture. While it had a nice chew, the crust was the same texture as the rest. Better than a supermarket bagel, but not as good as my Isaac's, my favorite triangle-area bagel shop. I have to give my kudos to the staff. They were moving quickly to serve folks, all while maintaining a smiley and cheerful demeanor. Final verdict: Would stop by if I was in the area and hungry, but not a destination food stop on its own. read more

I was so excited to see an H&H bagel location opened up in NC! I'm a huge Seinfeld fan and I've wanted to try one of these bagels ever since I watched the Festivus episode with Kramer yelling "no bagel no bagel no bagel"! I arrived just before 7AM and ordered a jalapeño cheddar and a plain bagel toasted with cream cheese along with 1/2 dozen to take home. They don't toast their bagels here which is a bummer. The bagel had excellent flavor and it was loaded with so much cream cheese, I had to remove most of it. I dropped the plain bagel off to my boyfriend at work and he said the bagel was delicious. Went for lunch last week. Long line and about a 30 minute wait. I tried ordering online so I could get my bagel sandwich quicker but the app wouldn't let me. Very clean subway tile interior with friendly staff. I got an Avocado Egg and Cheese on a jalapeño cheese bagel with some added hot sauce. It was filling, good and fresh tasting. The restaurant just opened this month on Jan.15, so maybe things will calm down because I don't know if the wait was worth it. read more

We came here 5 minutes before close on a Sunday to grab a mid-afternoon snack and were treated to excellent service and a great bagel. Excited to have a bagel place nearby! The breakfast sandwiches are great. The ingredients are all fresh and they don't skimp on meat. Flavored cream cheese is made with fresh ingredients mixed in as well. The nova salmon is great, though pricey. But I think it's warranted since they give you a good amount of salmon. The bagels themselves are good, but not particularly special. Hot drip coffee was bad. Weak and a bit sour. Since they are relatively new, the service is still extremely slow. I think they need more staff to take and assemble orders. Both times I have gone around noon, the wait has been about 1 hour. Once they figure that out and get online ordering set up, I can see myself going more often. read more

This bagel shop just opened up last week. Despite the heavy crowds, this place is definitely worth checking out. The bagels are decently dense, although to be fair, not AS chewy as ones I have previously eaten at other places (even locally). The 'everything' bagel and the jalapeño-cheddar bagel were really tasty when toasted and smeared with cream cheese. Whole wheat and sesame bagels were also quite good but the texture was a little more bread-y than preferred. We tried the veggie cream cheese and really enjoyed that as well. Haven't tried any of the sandwiches, but they look absolutely delicious, especially the ones with Nova Scotian lox. Another big plus, is this place is safe for people with all nut allergies! We will be sure to return for more delicious bagels. read more

Horrible. I am rating the plain bagel, not the sandwiches, crowds, service, and various varieties. Bruegger's were acceptable, but has been lost to the flood. Brandwein's failed to satisfy. The best come from Weaver St. Market. I was, then, of course excited at the thought of H&H's opening, since I have fond memories them back on Broadway a block south of Zabar's. But its current owners of what is now a franchise have cut back on the quality of the flour and undersalt.
