I normally would not give a five star review to a chain, much less one in an airport of all places but if you are in Pittsburgh, this bagel shop for some reason makes bagels that are better than any other except Beaver bagel Co. First the bagels themselves are fantastic. They have the right amount of crust, and the dough is just right and not too doughy not too dry. Once toasted they are close to perfect. As a fan of the everything bagel, you would absolutely appreciate quality and flavor first impressions don't really tell the true story, the managerAmy has a very deep pride in this shop. She and her staff are meticulously clean, efficient, and have a great sense of humor. When traveling through the Pittsburgh Airport, I usually take a quick walk down the B Terminal to grab a bagel. It's one of the best bagels I've had outside of New York City. I'm glad they have a location at the airport as a bagel is something you could easily take on the plane, or grab a sack for home (without the cream cheese). The Staff has always been friendly and I usually get my bagel and cream cheese rather quickly. I just wish they had the bacon scallion cream cheese. That is the Bomb! read more

As far as breakfast options go at the Pittsburgh airport, this is definitely my preferred stop as I find them to be the most consistent. Bagels aren't usually my go-to but they have some great sandwich options and their standard offerings are great. They usually only have a staff of 2 people, and despite a long line at times they move fast AND they always get your order right. read more

I travel in/out of Pittsburgh Airport frequently and have seen this Bruegger's Bagels shop, but never tried it until recently and I'll definitely return! I wanted a sandwich I could take on board and eat after being seated so I stopped by about 15 minutes before boarding was to start. The lady working was very friendly and helpful and gave me some suggestions on the menu. I chose their brisket bagel sandwich and she whipped it up quickly and had me on my way within minutes. Once on the plane, I opened it up, it was fresh, smelled great and tasted really good! The bagel was soft and had a perfect texture and the toppings were tasty and very fresh. We had a very early morning flight but just enough time to grab a bagel before we boarded. There was only one woman at this time and the line was at least 15 people deep, and she was phenomenal! If I was in that position, I would be stressed/anxious/not happy and she was the complete opposite - greeting everyone with a smile and efficiently taking numerous bagel and coffee orders at one time. I was either super hungry (possible) or this truly was the best damn bagel sandwich I've ever had. And I've had bagels ALL over the country. Including NYC multiple times. Was this the best bagel I've ever had, no but best all around bagel sandwich, yea. I had the Breakfast Sandwich called the Western. It features an egg, bacon, green & red peppers, onions, cheddar cheese, chipotle sauce (this was amazing). I devoured this sandwich in like 5 mins flat. Ordered a BLT bagel TOASTED the young guy that took my order couldn't have been any nicer or helpful. The lady preparing my bagel different story. I have never been here before so not sure how the process goes. When I did see her wrap my sandwich without TOASTING it I SIMPLY asked was it going to be toasted she said rudely " it's not on my screen " as she proceeded to throw away the one she made started making a new one. Mind you the cashier said to her sorry it was my fault I forgot to add it but she did ask for it to be toasted she proceeded to say I can't read minds! I honestly just don't understand where the customer service no on days has gone. This is at the airport already stressed over traveling but nevertheless always with my best foot forward. Had a flight leaving from the gate right across them. It was 6am so bagels seemed appropriate. Had a siracha honey sunrise bagel. Comes with 1 or 2 eggs according to board. Was never asked from the gentleman who was preparing it. Didn't want 2 eggs but it would make sense to ask. Kind of snippy and not friendly atp all. Then I went to pay and ordered a cappuccino. The person there seemed very unhappy to be there. Burnt the milk preparing it and didn't even get it right and the coffee was also horrible. Would only eat there again if I had to cause my plane was leaning from that same gate and I didn't have time to go elsewhere. I love Bruegger's. Literally my favorite place to get a bagel. I may be biased because I used to work at a Bruegger's though. Anyways- every single time I'm at the airport I stop at this Bruegger's. I typically have a good experience and the food is always what I expected. Today the staff were friendly so no issues there. The only reason why I'm giving 4 stars instead of 5 is the staff member that made my sandwich never wiped the knife prior to cutting my bagel. There was then cream cheese on my sandwich. I didn't say anything but I know from working at a very busy Bruegger's in Oakland many years ago it only takes a second to wipe the knife. Other than this, always a good experience. I usually get a make your own turkey sandwich or egg sandwich if it's breakfast time. read more

I ordered a bacon egg and cheese bagel I got a flattened bagel that was mediocre at best w/soggy bacon and a green egg. See picture for the discoloration. Maybe this place has turned a new leaf. My experience was great; far different than the other reviewers. The young women behind the counter greeted me right away and was pleasant throughout the entire transaction. She even waited patiently for me to dig pennies out of my wallet and didn't mind when I realized I didn't have correct change. My everything bagel with cream cheese was well seasoned, fresh, and there was definitely no skimping on the cream cheese. Total was $2.75. A man that looked to be the manager was wiping down all the tables and also cleaned the counter and wooden doors of the condiment/napkin kiosk. This place is clean and well kept. There is ample seating inside and also a few tables outside the store for easy people watching. There are a couple of menu items that caught my eye (hello, French toast coffee) and I'd definitely stop back in Brueggers next time I'm in the Pittsburgh airport. read more

I have been a manager of Starbucks for 15 years. I know service/food industry. Recently changed careers and became a flight attendant. After spending endless hours on the plane - serving people and bending backwards for them, I just want to enter any establishment where I'm the one finally being served and have a simple and smooth transaction. This was 5am. I was the only person there. The man who "took" my order didn't make eye contact. He didn't appear interested in me. He was dissatisfied with all of my requests. Yes - I wanted special adjustments to my order. He looked miserable, tired, or exhausted. Not sure which it was. By the time I made it to the register my mood was completely changed and now I was upset at myself that I let someone who obviously hates his job or worse yet - has no idea what he is doing at his own business to change my mood. It's simple math of customer service - never coming back. Competition is fierce. My hard-earned money will be given to those who need it the most and make me feel the best. To no surprise - sadly the bagel was soggy and not so good either. The thing is - I've served many wrongly made coffee orders - I've made mistakes and my customers still came back. When my presence was finally noticed "what will you have?" I started to order when he said "hold up I got to finish this order first." Then why did he ask? The last 2 times I ordered from here before a flight, they got my order wrong. This, the 2nd time, I have a sprained ankle so had no time or desire to walk back to have them correct the order. The dark haired/skin girl who took my order gave me the sandwich pictured in the customize your sandwich ad picture behind her when I specifically said I wanted to customize and told her what I wanted. She clearly didn't listen to me at all, just pointed to the ad which said in huge letters "customize" and yet gave me the sandwich w the fixings from the ad. Wtf. It was 12:30pm and the shop was empty with customers. There were 2 employees a man in his late 40s and young woman in her 20s. The gentleman was looking and doing something on his phone. The young lady appeared to be doing some prepping moving things around, working. I was in no hurry and so i studied the menu and was not agitated at all that they had not acknowledged me. In fact it looked like they, well the young lady any, was prepping to open. I waited patiently gabbed a water pulled my wallet still undecided on coffee or soft drink. The young lady turned around and saw me and walked over to the man and whispered something, I assumed at the time that she was telling him we have a customer. He looked up from his phone for a second and i smiled, but he continued with his phone. The YL continued to the sink washed her hands, I assumed so she could come take my order finally. That was not the case, continued to ignore me Suddenly the GM says "did you want to order something". I was still in no hurry and let that sad greeting go. I said "Sure, i wasn't sure you were open just yet. I rattled off my order and I can see he is irritated and starts putting gloves on as he says to the YL, "She sees me standing here why doesn't she say something".... Clearly he was having a bad day, I replied with, "That's okay I don't need your bad service. You have yourself a good day". He started yapping his mouth, but I have no time for conversations with fools. After having a wonderful avocado sandwich and ice coffee from Joe & the Juice (service was excellent) and walked back to my gate to await boarding, I pass Brueggers and low and behold it's absolutely empty. Friendly people, decently quick service. Average bagels. Had the egg and cheese on onion. The bagel was a bit too soft for my tastes and you couldn't really taste the cheese at all. A big negative - they cut all sandwiches with the same knives...so if you order a meat-free sandwich, it's getting cut by the same knife that just cut all the meat sandwiches. read more

The businessman in front of me and I had to wait quite a while for the employee to come back to sell us bagels, and then she was grouchy and almost silent throughout. So that was weird. On the bright side, Bruegger's has decent quality bagels for pretty cheap, and they don't drive up their prices just because you're trapped in the airport. A normal bagel, toasted with cream cheese, is under $4, and sandwiches are under $7, which isn't a bad deal. I'll take less-than-enthusiastic service in exchange for cheap airport grub. I didn't feel like a burden or that I was wasting their time, as I have felt at other restaurants. Amy was friendly and welcoming, though it was early in the AM. There's only one worker and he manages the cash register as well as the food...so do expect a wait. Bagel sandwich options are not my favorite. Had the Herby turkey and they add this sun dried tomatoe spread which is so potent that it draws taste away from the cream cheese, it's like the cream cheese isn't even there. I had to scrape off the sun-dried tomatoe spread after a few bites. I also got the sesame bagel with garlic herb which wasn't bad. The hot chocolate syrup is just another version of the Hershey syrup, so nothing special there. If I do come back I'll just stick to the original bagel with plain cream cheese. read more

Rude, inept service. Ordered one of their signature bagel sandwiches, paid for it, then watched as 7 people who were behind me with similar orders were served before me. When my order came up (~15 after ordering - forever in a fast food environment) the checkout accused me of not paying and then became indignant when I showed my receipt. When I got to my gate and sat down to eat my sandwich, I discovered that they had given me something way different from what I ordered. A wholly disgusting experience. read more
