Classic bagel spot in Pittsburgh. It's pretty cheap (can get 3 bagels for $5) and their bagel sandwiches are very filling! I got the zesty egg white, which has a sausage patty, some sort of tomato sauce, and an egg white on a plain bagel. I loved the tomato sauce -- it was lightly sweet and was the main flavorful component of the sandwich. Otherwise the bagel was a little plain. The bagels here are on the chewy side. Service is pretty fast but they do mess up your order sometimes. Lots of seating inside in the upstairs area. read more

I came here for a breakfast sandwich, bagel with cream cheese, and hazelnut coffee. The only thing remotely good was the coffee. I ordered online and waited until about 6 minutes after my order was supposed to be ready. Nothing. No greeting. No questions asked. No indication that my order would be ready soon (I waited by the Pick-Up Table). I approached the register and told what looked to be the manager that I was still waiting for an online order. He tells one of the employees to start it immediately. I ordered 20 minutes in advance, and you haven't even started the order??? He hands me the bag, and I have to remind him that coffee was included in the order. I get home, and everything is wrong. The hashbrown we paid for: missing. The breakfast sandwich we paid for: missing. Instead, we got a blueberry bagel with onion and chive cream cheese. What? And my asiago bagel with onion and chive cream cheese, lightly toasted: BURNT. The manager had the audacity to give me an index card with his initials on it for a free meal the next time "for my wait." No thanks, I'm good. P.S. I submitted my feedback about this visit via an online survey on August 14th. I received no response from management; just an automated response thanking me for completing the survey. read more

So many things have changed on Walnut St. but Bruegger's remains. Maybe it needs some fresh paint, but the quality is the same. Please don't ever close! The best bagels ever and such nostalgia from high school. I have to visit every time I'm in Pittsburgh. read more

This place is run by super rude people. They had us wait for 20 minutes for 2 bagels, ultimately had both bagels dine totally wrong, did not apologize, and then gave us our money back when we complained about why they did not even apologize and told us that they will not prepare our bagels. Bruegger's is... Fine. Though generally consistent from location to location, when I went a few days ago to the location on Aiken, my hash brown was pretty nasty. It was cold and soggy, and didn't taste too great. The bagel is solid! I got an everything bagel with turkey sausage, egg, and cheese. The bagel was smaller than I'm used to but still okay. I ordered it over DoorDash. DoorDash did not allow me to make special requests for the bagel. I wanted to add jalapeño cream cheese to the bagel, but it didn't seem possible over DoorDash. It would be nice to put together a more specified order online, since the pandemic makes it less comfortable to come in to the store and spend more time ordering at the counter. Nonetheless, Bruegger's is good for a hungover bagel. Though, Pigeon Bagel in Shadyside is far better. read more

A staple restaurant at the book end of Walnut St, Bruegger's Bagels rarely fails to disappoint. I am usually happy with the food quality, although, sometimes I have to remind them a couple of times to not forget my extra sauce. The older workers are usually cranky and unpleasant to be around. However, they have their "Diamond in the Rough" per se, with one young worker named Raymond, more commonly known as RayRay. He makes, by far, the best sandwich and always has a smile on his face. Often times I walk in and he already knows what I want... HES. THAT. GOOD. Plain and simple (like the kind of bagel I get), RayRay carries the team at the South Aiken Bruegger's. If it were up to me, he would be in charge of the whole staff. read more

The staff here was friendly and even offered to show me nutritional information when I asked questions. My bagel was decent, similar to other bagels I've had from bagel chain places. But this place is dirty, at least in the customer areas. The bathroom toilet did not look cleaned for many days. The same with the stairs where dust and dirt checked in to the step corners. I will continue to come to this location because it's really the only fast, cheap option on Walnut Street. Everything else is full-service/sit-down. The quality is pretty consistent. Service is spotty. When I'm given the option I'll usually choose another bagel place, but especially in Shadyside - I'll continue to come back because they really don't have any competition. I would love to give this place a good rating but wow, three times in a row you guys struck out. The average wait time per customer is usually around 5 minutes... So if there's 6 people or more in front of you, allow yourself at least 20-30 minutes. I just do NOT understand why this location is so slow... I frequented Bruegger's a lot in my childhood and I still do so I have a soft spot for this place. Bruegger's offers a selection of bagels, sandwiches, soups and salads. The Bruegger's on S Aiken does a great job in preparation. If you're not getting a simple bagel with cream cheese, the items are about 6-9 bucks but the quality is worth it. They actually mix all of the components of your salad in a bowl before they put it in a container whereas other locations will just put the fixings on top with dressing on the side. I have enjoyed their breakfast sandwiches, signature bagel sandwiches and salads. I haven't had their paninis and their coffee is just a-ok which I'd go elsewhere for that. Surprisingly they have wi-fi though I have never seen anybody studying/working with a laptop. This location is nice in that it has a whole upstairs to eat your food but the configuration of entering and ordering doesn't make sense to me. When you enter the store, the cash registers are in front of you and then off to the right is where you order. They have a big ORDER sign in wooden letters above the counter where you order but I just noticed it. Hopefully I am not the only one! read more

This Bruegger's is a parking nightmare. They have a tiny lot behind the shop that is often packed to the gills. The larger parking lot next-door, often empty, is managed by a parking attendant who takes his job very seriously. Very very seriously. Despite the trouble securing parking, I frequent this location and find service to be great despite the long lines. If you want turkey sausage make sure to point that out as I only recently realized that it's not the standard when you ask for a egg/cheese/sausage bagel. Also, order your drink while they make your bagel and if you slurp it all down while still in line they are more than happy to give you a free refill as you head out the door. read more

As much as I typically avoid bigger industry-type chains, I've always enjoyed stopping in here while hanging out in Shadyside. It's at the perfect location at the end of Walnut (though technically on Aiken) to grab something on your way into Shadyside or on your way out. I walked in today and the manager greeted me sweetly. I just picked up a bag of day-old bagels (who can beat a bag of 6 for less than 3 bucks?) and a soda, and the woman was nice enough to offer a free bag of bagels to me! I don't even care if they had to get rid of them by the end of the afternoon, it was an incredibly nice gesture which almost guarantees a stop in the next time I need a quick breakfast or lunch sometime soon. Many times your receipt includes a survey to get a dollar-off coupon. Prepared bagels and sandwiches are a bit pricey but there are a lot of coupons and promotions available. The "Last Night's Bagels" are a great deal and if toasted, taste almost fresh. read more

Is Bruegger's the most delicious, fresh bagel place ever? No. But, in Pittsburgh, where there are very few bagel places, this is some of the best you're going to get. They have a wide variety of bagel and cream cheese flavors. They also have a lot of sandwiches that go beyond your basic bacon, egg, and cheese, which I appreciate. This visit, I got the western. The fresh bell peppers and chipotle sauce on the sandwich elevate it. The people that work here do not look at all happy to be there. When I order I get the sense that they feel they're doing me a favor. It's like an assembly line with zombies working behind the counter. They are almost always out of the best bagel varieties. I can't understand how this location has any positive reviews. The wait is always extremely long, the staff extremely unprofessional, and the bagel selection limited. I could list at least 20 examples of unhygienic, rude, and inappropriate behavior I experience on a daily basis here. I wish there was somewhere else to get a bagel on walnut. I have been holding out in writing a bad review for a long time but at this point it's just ridiculous. Every now and again there will be a couple of decent employees, but they seem to leave ASAP. My girlfriend and I like stopping here on our early (okay 2PM) Saturday adventures. Close to where we live is this Shadyside location right on the edge of bustling Walnut Street. When we've gone later in the day you may find lesser stock of bagel varieties but nothing that is too off-putting. The service is average but the staff are nice enough and the food is prepared fresh to order. The location itself could use some better cleaning at times but it seems like they have 2-3 people working at a time. Another poster commented on the parking situation, I've always parked in the large lot next to Bruegger's (Walnut and Aiken) without issue. This is the slowest Brueggers ever. It doesn't matter if I am the only one in the store or in a like out the door, the staff is slow and does not care that they are slow.
