I stop in here whenever my husband is craving a bacon, egg, and cheese bagel sandwich. Occasionally, I'll even go for the Skinny Zesty Egg White sandwich. Both have always been made well and tasted delicious. However, the biggest issue here is always the incredibly slow service. My last visit was on a Sunday around 11:30 and I waited over 30 minutes for my food. There was a line in front of me and a large one growing behind me. There were 5 people behind the counter, 3 of whom were kids whose slow pace and less than enthusiastic expressions added to my frustration. It's unfortunate they took out all the seating. Although I understand why, it takes away from the overall feel of the place. It used to feel very friendly and comfortable, and now it's just someplace you can grab a bagel. Prices have doubled in the last year, bagels are smaller, and that great texture and flavor is gone - bagels are now flavorless and a little stale. The food is always delicious, thus the second star-the attitude from one particular employee specifically, and management allowing it to continue and not addressing it even when directly told about it, is why I gave this business the first star, though we will not be returning either way. For context, we grabbed breakfast here at least 3-4 mornings a week-we're done allowing negative energy into our day. Management needs to take responsibility for their employees, and how they provide 'customer service' in a customer-facing role. After having a terrible "last" experience here a year ago with a counter person (see my previous review) , I tempted fate; I was jonesing for a smoked salmon bagel sandwich and found myself walking into Bruegger's. This time around was much different. Several of the counter people here had smiles on their faces and my order was taken immediately and made exactly as I asked, quickly and efficiently. As usual, the coffee was excellent and was still "help yourself." My everything bagel was absolutely great as was the taste of the salmon. Couldn't of been happier. Like many people, I enjoy the food but the service is lacking severely. I've gone here for 2 years and either they get my order wrong, someone has an attitude, or I'm being racially profiled. Someone from the back almost always comes to check me out while I wait for them to screw up my bagel order. The other white customers, after observing the staff for two years, wait for their bagels and get rung up once the entire order is complete. I think the staff believes that if someone isn't watching me then I'm going to take off with the drinks, chips and cookies located before the register. I wish the hyper vigilence staff pays me regarding a potential theft would be transferred to listening and paying attention to my order. I recently tried the other location in Wauwatosa, and the staff are Black (as far as I can tell) and not only did they not screw up my order but offered excellent customer service! My friend has been telling me for years that the only bagels worth eating are from Bruegger's, so I was intrigued. The bagels were good! Definitely a different mouth feel than grocery store bagels. Like so many others on here, I'll say the food is great, the service is horrible. It all stems from from the leadership, I won't blame the employees. The app or door dash order takes precedence over the people standing on line. Often you don't even get an acknowledgement that you are waiting and you almost never get a thank you. I really like the Sun-Dried Tomato Bagel especially when warm. The warmth brings out the fresh flavor of the sun-dried tomatoes. Today, I tried The Farmhouse Bagel. What a great combimation of flavors. The layers of poached egg, ham, applewood backn and cheddar cheese work well together and the pepper cream cheese is fantastic. We wanted to support a local business but it's difficult to do so when the food and service is abysmal. We went for breakfast at their Whitefish Bay, WI location. One employee was pasty white and sweating. The others were frowning and kept their heads down, and avoided eye contact. The one who took my order actually huffed l(breakfast sandwiches) when I asked to leave off the cheese. Our sausage had a distinctive flavor of freezer burn, was cold and limp. I have ordered from this location (door dash) 6 times. I order the same thing every time. Big beagle bundle with an extra tub of cream cheese. The bundle says it comes with 2 everything beagles. The last two times I ordered it I did not get them. I phoned the store and they tried to tell me that the everything beagles are not included in the big beagle bundle. I explained that on the door dash website it is included, and I have gotten them before. The manager tried to argue with me that I was wrong. I will never spend another dime in that location. Every time I order it costs me over $40.00 +tax, delivery fee and tip. Do the math 40 x 6=240.00 in the last month and half. Very displeased. I hope that the owner cares more than the manager did. From some of the other reviews I read, this location has a reputation for mistakes and lack of taking care of the customer and a callus attitude about the issues. read more

Bruegger's Bagels is nicely located right off of Silver Spring. The location is by far one of the best parts about Bruegger's. I first noticed Bruegger's after going to Stone Creek Coffee which is directly next to Bruegger's. I went here for lunch since it was cooler out and I was feeling like soup. Upon arrival, we were greeted with a very loud atmosphere and a not so clean seating area. While Bruegger's might be a place to take kids, it is certainly not a great place to have a quiet meal or meeting. I had the chili along with a ham sandwich on a marble rye bagel. The chili was not so great and tasted as if it had come out of a can. The ingredients of my sandwich seemed fresh. I was especially satisfied that you may choose what you want on your sandwich and can view its preparation. Now to the famous Bruegger bagel. My marble rye bagel was quite tasty, however it was very tough to chew as if it had been sitting for quite some time. The pros of Bruegger's are location, large selection of bagels, and friendly staff. With some work on their menu and products, I might reconsider for a higher star review. read more

Service is fast despite being quite busy. The coffee is hot, although uninspired. For good coffee, Stone Creek is next door. My 4 stars are because it is a chain after all. Avoid this location. The guy actually making the food was new and in training. The manager couldn't be bothered to help. This location seems under staffed. It is very dirty here. The track lighting above where they make your salad and sandwiches is clumped with dust. Floors need to be swept. Also avoid the Broccoli and cheese soup. I have grown up down the street from this location and every time I go the service gets worse and worse. I find myself waiting in line for 10min when there is only one person in front of me. Oh, "Bruegge's", How I love you so. This is in my 'hood so I hit this place up quite often. I can't help myself to a bagel and cheese or a egg and cheese every now and then. I still think they make the best bagel around. There are plenty of places to sit however I usually get my stuff to go since it is inundated with teenagers and screaming kids. Um...no thanks. Free Bagels at Bruegger's! Celebrating its 30th Anniversary in April, my wife and I rushed over to the Whitefish Bay location where we were more than 10 years ago on opening day, both armed with a downloaded coupon for three bagels. Having visited the Bagel Broker in Los Angeles during our February visit there, you can compare my reviews. We decided to order five different kinds, I had to get two of my favorite poppy seed despite my pledge to get three different bagels. Sorry. My other choice was a sesame, while my wife ordered onion, pumpernick and you guessed it, plain. Now don't get me wrong and I have told you we have been coming here for more than a decade, but while the price keeps rising, the quality seems to be declining, especially at 75 cents or more each. Amazingly both poppy seed bagels needed a magnifying glass to locate the few poppy seeds we could detect. No matter, I still ate them although greatly disappointed. In LA, the poppy seed bagels were completely covered, adding to the taste. My wife rated the onion and pumpernick bagels just average. However, the big surprise happened overnight. Ready to include the sesame and onion bagels with our breakfast, we discovered both semi-stale! Thank goodness we didn't pay for them. Wow, how far has Bruegger's fallen? Less than 20 hours later and sealed in a zip lock bag. Bummer! Sorry Bruegger's, it appears there is no quality control, at least in Whitefish Bay.
