Such a great affordable hearty option for lunch. I always get the choose two combo with the mac & cheese and the chicken noodle soup. Today, I paired my combo with a side of garlic bread. The employees were nice and the food came out quick but I looked in the bag as he handed it to me and my sandwich was literally in pieces like someone shook the container before handing it to me, and I knew my sandwich would be cold bc it said so on the menu but the chicken was literally FROZEN WET and SOGGY from thawing. I've been to Corner Bakery a ton of times and I will say that the service is top tier. I never have an issue with my food and the workers always try their best to help with explaining the menu. Only reason I'm giving a one star is due to what I've witnessed a few times when I've stopped by. I've seen the owner talk to the employees in a somewhat rude and unprofessional manner. I have worked in the food industry in the past and I understand the struggles that come with customer service, so I find it frustrating to see that they have an owner that doesn't seem too amiable. Ok so this cafe gave me a vibe mixture of Chick-fil-A, Panera, Starbucks, and Noodles & Company. Now you might think that's a weird mixture, but Corner Bakery Cafe makes it work. When I came here it was for a quick dinner and a coffee. When I walked in there weren't too many people there and tables were social distanced with mask enforced when walking around. The workers were super nice and used the phrase "my pleasure," which is most likely why I get Chick-Fil-A vibes. However according to my date this is an Amazing study spot. She told me they have plenty of cool coffee deals and are pretty quick in making your drinks. This is her go to spot when she wants to get work done and it seemed that was true for the other people in there. As for the food and coffee it was alright. We both ordered pasta dishes and went with the entre size. Let's just say the amount of food they give you for the price is breathtaking! For $10 I was able to get so much pasta that it was big enough for two filling meals! This was honestly my favorite part of the cafe. So all in all if you are looking for a study spot come here. Tired of having breakfast at home everyday, we ordered in breakfast from corner bakery cafe and the food was pretty awesome! We got the chicken pomodari, breakfast egg bowl and buttermilk pancakes. I wish I was less hungry to take a moment to click a pic but I couldn't resist! Nevertheless, everything looked awesome. The pancakes were very fresh and so yumm... never turns out this way when I make at home.. so fluffy! The sandwich had pesto and spinach and chicken and it tasted awesome. The egg bowl had so many flavors too .. scrambled eggs packed with veggies and comes with a fruit side as an add on. If you wanna go healthy then this is it! Find myself looking for lunch while taking a relaxing drive, and low and behold I ran into this place which had an open drive-through. The staff was very patient with me as I read through the entire menu as I hadn't been to a corner bakery in quite a long time. Decided on a half a sandwich which should've been put in a smaller container because when I opened it it had pretty much falling apart. But it was still warm and a variety of fresh flavors. We are from IN and were visiting our daughter. We fell in love with Corner Bakery in Shorewood. It was so clean and the coffee was great. All of the workers were so nice, especially the manager, Karen. She went out of her way to make us feel welcome. We enjoyed it so much that we returned for breakfast the next day. When my Amazon packages can't get delivered because I'm not home they tend to get sent to the drugstore in Shorewood that's down the street from this Corner Bakery. Sometimes I go to the Culver's, but on this most recent trip I felt like trying the Corner Bakery since the menu looked pretty good. It's a chain. It's kind of like a Panera but different. I would say it's a more extensive menu but Panera has pasta and stuff. Corner Bakery is a little more flexible in terms of what you can get as part of a "choose 2" combo. I always get a combo of items when I can because it's a chance to try different things. I chose a half albacore tuna melt and chicken tortilla soup. The soup was good but not mind-blowing. It was similar to what I've had at other establishments. I did like the little tortilla-chip garnish. I really enjoyed the albacore tuna melt. The tuna salad had good onion-and-celery flavor. The cheddar went well with it. The bread was toasted nicely. I wouldn't compare this place with Benji's deli but on pure tuna-melt points they're close. They bus your table for you. I was expecting Panera-like ambiance so I was surprised that the person who brought me my meal offered to get my silverware and stuff. I realized I didn't actually need a knife and fork to eat soup, and that they had provided me a spoon, after I asked. But it was still nice. I want to try the meatballs either in panini form or with pasta. Also this looks like a nice place to get breakfast or come with a laptop and get work done. This is a popular spot for breakfast/brunch in Shorewood. I've been here a couple times late morning on Saturday or Sundays. It's been busy and most of the seating areas are occupied. It's like a Panera-Starbucks hybrid, but with more/different breakfast options. On my last visit, I ordered the overnight oats that is made with apples and bananas and topped with berries. The portion was HUGE! I couldn't even finish it. Everything I have tried has been tasty and had good presentation. While dining in, you can refill your coffee, something you can't do at Starbucks. I like that they include the calories on the menu, it definitely helps me make smarter food choices! They also offer seasonal menu items They have some really interesting information about Shorewood's history inside. It is also the official Ghost Train headquarters. Well out with the old and in with the new. Corner Bakery has hooked up an otherwise dull joint into a nice little addition to Capital Drive in Shorewood. Sure they have some waitstaff kinks to work out but considering they have been open for just about a week or so they are doing fine. Need snacks? Want some dessert? Early riser and wan't breakfast? This is your place with hours ranging from 6 am or 6:30 am on the weekends to close. They also are right near the Oak Leaf trail bridge that crosses over busy Capital Drive. With a massive patio area this is a great place to start the morning out and the prices are reasonable. I enjoyed a solid scramble that I ended up pretty full from. So I just ended up getting some take out before heading to a babysitting gig. It was definitely on a whim and I'm glad I tried it! I ordered the BBLT sandwich, but without the balsamic mayo. I was too scared to order it with the mayo, but I should have ordered it on the side to see if I liked it. I got the Caesar salad as my side instead of chips. There's an up-charge for this, but considering the salad is so small and the ingredients are so cheap, there really shouldn't be a charge at all. They offer breakfast items all day, so the little one got some pancakes, which he loved. I enjoyed the sandwich and the salad, so I think that I will definitely return when I'm in the area and feel like a sandwich. read more

I like the shrimp scampi linguini. Great garlic butter flavor. Although it would be nice if they actually seared the shrimp. I suspect they come precooked and frozen. But what they call garlic bread is worse than disgusting. I don't even bother anymore. I just throw it out. It's not on French bread. Just some spongy, tasteless Wonderbread equivalent. The prices are reasonable, there are a variety of fairly healthy (and not-so-healthy) things on the menu & there is always plenty of seating. Parking is ample. It's also not too noisy for a conversation. It's nothing special, but is an easy choice. I would definitely come back, I think this is a place worth visiting again & again!! I went to this cafe's drive-thru on Sunday, September 20. I have never been to a Corner Bakery Cafe, ever. I ordered a breakfast bacon wrap, side of potatoes, and a large iced tea. The iced tea had NO ICE. It was so bitter, I could not drink it. I think it had been poured much earlier, the ice had melted, and it was poorly made to begin with. The potatoes had definitely been sitting around a while, and were chewy. The wrap - well, here's the thing. If you're going to put spinach in something that you bite into, CHOP IT UP. I would bite into the wrap and whole spinach leaves (also large pieces of bacon) would be dangling from my lips. It's really hard to bite into chewy bacon and spinach leaves and come out with just what you bite into. Lastly, I allowed them to add a donation by rounding up my total. Here's the thing. They added the donation, then TAXED THE FOOD AND DONATION. WRONG!!! You do a subtotal with everything including tax, and then you add on a round-up donation. I'll be reporting you to the state for fraud, because I'm going to bet this company keeps those extra pennies for itself, and that can add up. I will never go back. read more

A waste of money and time, ordered a ham n Swiss basically supermarket ham on very dry bread with a drizzle of brown mustard. The bread is what ruined it mostly and the extra long wait for an order that was called in, my coworker ordered the ribeye steak sandwich and I immediately text me to say how disgusting it was...super soggy and she was so disappointed, expecting more from a $9 sandwich. This happened a little while ago, but I mainly got a yelp account just to review this place. The "pumpkin spice maple syrup" was atrocious. It tasted more like a pumpkin spice candle, than actual pumpkin spice. Had to clean my mouth out after trying it. We came back another time, where instead we were seated inside. Our waiter seemed very off and extremely nervous as if he was not prepared to take orders. He returned with our food, where the hangnail on his finger was sticking out and directly in my mother's salad. I was extremely disgusted by the interaction. The food is pretty okay to average, but does not compare to the quality of the food of the restaurant that used to stand here, Baker's Square Overall, the food isn't terrible but just needs a little bit of improvement. This is fast food breakfast. Considering what it is, I have always found it to be relatively good. Big portions, and no pushback if you make alterations on a meal. Not much for meatless, but they will leave it off, if you ask. Had a bad experience today. I ordered a Garden Gate scrambler minus chicken sausage, since I've been vegetarian for 40 years. The food came, it tasted great till I had a mouthful of chicken sausage. Took my plate back to the counter showed my receipt and asked for the same item, no chicken sausage. The second order never came. I went back to the counter and the manager (no name tag, but she claimed she was the manager) asked what I wanted and I wanted a refund. Then I asked for a bagel and schmear to go, on the house. She flipped out! I gave your money back and you're not entitled to anything else! You ate half the scrambler before you brought it back! She even pulled out the plate and showed it to me. I pointed out the big piece of chicken sausage. I told her everything was good till I tasted sausage. We argued back and forth and another regular customer joined us because she had a vegetarian scrambler and couldn't tell which one didn't have sausage and the server did not know. The extremely rude manager told me I wasn't getting anything and not paying for it. We're done. Have a nice day. At some point I said I wanted to see a manager and she said she was the manager. Can I speak with anyone else about this? She said Nope. Just me. I'm in charge. I said I would then post this online and she said she hoped I would. I finally said look all I wanted was breakfast and you made it this bad experience. Oh no she said its not my fault! Can't I just have a bagel? Nope she said. Goodbye! I asked for her name and she was not comfortable giving me her name. She's short, dark hair, glasses and has snaggly rotten teeth. I work in customer service and may reenact this exchange as an example of bad customer service and how to lose customers.
