They tried to make and remake the lenses 3 different times, each time making really large mistakes in measurements and fabrication that caused the focal point to be off to the point i couldn't even look through them. I finally got a refund and took them to Maine Optometry, who got it right out the gate. Wasted 3 trips, hours of re-measuring and a total of 3 months waiting for all the re-do's.

The wait time has been minimal (if at all because the providers seem to run on time) and Dr. Liem is super nice, knowledgeable and a good listener making sure my questions are answered. Front desk staff and other support overall are professional and friendly. Our only complaint would be we wish they had even more glasses frames, particularly sunglasses to chose from in-house. I ended up getting mine at the slightly larger Portland location in the old port- something to keep in mind that each location may have a few different options to check out if you don't see what you want at this one. When ordering glasses it took about what they estimated time wise. The glasses are good quality glass lenses and are a bit more expensive than other spots we have been to over the years. All in all I definitely recommend.

Fast forward to now and I decided a check up might be nice along with some new high quality frames that my insurance would partially pay for. I was worried about finding parking, but I got a spot right in front of the office. BRING CHANGE FOR THE METER. A few things really stood out for me here. First, it was run by all women. My eye doctor, the receptionist, the person who helps you pick out glasses. I love any business where females make up the majority. Second, the layout was simple, there were two rooms off the main entrance, but overall the space was small and well designed. This place infuriates me…read more The last two/three times I've gone to them, had my contact exam, and ordered contacts, I've been very low on contacts and let them know this. I also haven't had a car. So, I pay an additional $9 on top of the crazy contact cost to have them shipped to me. Every single time they've told me to expect them to get to me in 4-5 business days. And every single time, it's two weeks later, I'm out of contacts, and I don't have them yet. The first time I called asking, they said whoops, they've been sitting here for a week and a half. They finally shipped them and I got them a couple days later. This time, it's been 15 days. I called at day 13 asking what was up. They put me on hold, then straight up lied to me and said they were out for delivery and would be there in a few hours. Two days later and they're nowhere to be found. No updates. I'm paying $9 for shipping and the contacts sit there for weeks until you literally call them and ask what's up. Now I'm out of contacts, and very frustrated. I know this is basic, but what the f***? These are my eyes! And these contacts cost an arm and a leg!!!! Do better plz. Sorry

I really like Dr. Roush - he is thorough, uses English to explain what he is doing, listens to me about what I'm experiencing, and is efficient. He diagnosed a bad retina and sent me to Maine Eye, that afternoon I had emergency retina surgery so I'm very appreciative! Recently, we dealt together with weird stuff that turned out to be another retina issue that required more work. I recently referred Wayne to go there - he's fussy and has not had good luck with the practice he was going to. I confess to being rather nervous - but he sent me a text after the appointment and said "love him". So all is well! Wayne is now in a daily contact lens that allows him to NOT wear (or lose all over the house) his reading glasses. Yay, Dr. Roush!

Then sent out sunglasses which ended up taking almost a month and then the side that goes over your ears was broken. But the office manager is an unprofessional bully who makes things up including policies. I was there and in the exam room and had a cough. They never asked me to wear a mask or anything. They kicked me out when I mentioned I had covid diagnosis 19 days earlier (This was 2024 and CDC protocol was WAY less than 19 days to quarantine, my state job mandated me to be back at work for 2 weeks at that point). What I had was determined to be bronchitis and pneumonia. I left and then called 30 min later as husband and I had taken off work so I could go to the appt and have eyes dilated. Was told office mgr left after escorting me out. They could not provide the policy when I asked to see it, and not on their web page either. When I tried to reschedule they gave me a date 18 months out. Yes 18 months which as a diabetic was uncalled for and rude. The largest group of unprofessional scam artists I have ever dealt with. And fyi I would have gladly worn a mask if asked and I have been fully vaccinated. Yes this was from 9 months ago but I didn't post before now due to potential retaliation. I am the same person as EllieBeagle on Google and am not hiding my identity. Intent of review is to let people know while Drs are fantastic be careful as I was not the only person who has been unfairly treated. I stand by my review that I have not ever been that badly treated by a health provider office ever before. And a practice I had been a patient of for years. I cannot ever recommend them!

For some reason, finding quality eye doctors in the Southern Maine area is a task. Having been to…read moreone eye doctor for about 7 years, I was hesitant to go somewhere new, but I am SO glad I did. I ended up coming across Beacon Eye Care after my dad came here and sang their praises. I scheduled an appointment and from there, it was magic. When I walked into Beacon Eye Care (which literally looks like a house), the woman at the front desk was incredibly nice and the place was pretty empty, which is also something I could appreciate. I was then welcomed by Dr. Lauren Boutet, who was such a gem of an eye doctor. I talked to her about some eye irritation I had been having and how my other eye doctor kind of dismissed it as dry eyes. Lauren took the time to figure out exactly what was going on and it turns out, I have an intolerance to some contact solutions! Ever since she diagnosed this issue, my eyes haven't been irritated and they are feeling great. She also went through my eye exam and she was incredibly patient and really put me at ease. I honestly HIGHLY recommend Beacon Eye Care and definitely will be a faithful patient of theirs.
