I negotiated a cash price of $350 down from $450. I do not live in Houston so they sent a subcontractor to do the work through a website called Thumbtack. Samual was supposed to be on site between Noon and 2pm. He called to say was running a little late and would be about an hour and 15 minutes. He finally showed at 4:30. He did not lay tarps, used a non filtering shop vac that layered our kitchen and living room in soot, nearly shattered a glass tabletop with the rods connected to the brush, although he was quite pleasant while doing all this. I posted a review on Thumbtack about Brushers Chimneys service and it wasn't long after that they called me. The woman asked if I would at least change my 2 star rating to 4 stars. I explained that I do honest reviews of both good and bad service. She then said that Brushers would refund our money in the form of a check and now would I change my review. I explained that she was actually trying to purchase my integrity which won't ever happen, although, once I received the check I would modify my review to reflect this exchange. That refund was promised in November 2025. This is 12/31/25 and as yet no check has arrived. This should be a warning about those who will attempt to buy you with bait. I will do my best to post my experience with as many media outlets as I can. I posted to Thumbtack and Google. I suggest anyone considering Brushers to read the NEGATIVE reviews. There are plenty of them. I read what their service offered on Thumbtack. Nothing of the sort happened in our home. I HIGHLY recommend STAYING AWAY from this company that won't clean your chimney as can be seen by my photos posted on Thumbtack but, they will clean out your wallet and not honor their word. This is an update: After making this post I was contacted by Brushers Chimney. After some discussion I was assured that a refund would be forthcoming. The refund arrived on 1/8/2026. I submitted it to my bank 1/9/2026. Verified check cleared 1/10/2026. On 1/9/2026 I received a call from Brushers as they noted I had deposited the refund which was for the amount I paid for their service. There was no additional money added for my lost time and the inconvenience of the mess left behind although, they did offer to have someone come to clean up the mess. Naturally, my wife and I had pretty much tackled that job which I reiterated in earlier conversations. I had no intentions of waiting while soot covered everything in our living room and kitchen. I admit I was less than pleasant with the young lady when I received a call asking me to remove my reviews of them on the platforms I posted on. I'm at this time adjusting my review from 1 to 3 stars only because they finally sent the refund after multiple postings. I still do not recommend their services since I was informed that the individual that serviced us is, in fact, one of their trained employees and literally less than half of what is on the website of the service to be performed was actually done. I'm not excited to be the first official Yelp review on Brushers Chimney's page. Yes. They're very responsive. They chatted online to setup appointment. It's virtually seamless. Company has an address at Sugar Creek Center in Sugarland, and they serve the greater Houston area. I first got attracted by a funny Santa Claus cartoon ad on Facebook last Friday. I clicked on Contact Us and quickly confirmed an appointment for today. The website says $199 but it's a holiday special for just $99. They were very efficient in communication. They gave me a 4-hour window of 12 to 4 but I got anxious. Around 2 pm, an employee called to give me an ETA. Jack arrived with 2 guys. One already on my roof as I opened the door. Jack explained how this works. He took a quick look at my fireplace and inside of the flume. He said there was a lot of creosote buildup. The guy on the roof took some pictures and sent to him. Then, he told me the cap was intact and everything looked good. Just need some paint to prevent rusting. I agreed to $99 deal, which included inspection and basic cleaning. But he recommended a complete cleaning of $468. I politely declined... He went outside while his crew still vacuuming the dust... 5 minutes later he came back to give me a better deal $368. My husband and I had a great time getting to know both young men as they completed the chimney inspection and repair and the deep cleaning on the ducts. If you are a realtor, a seasoned homeowner, a flipper, etc... and your house has a chimney, Brushers Chimneys is the one you need in your back pocket for sure. I contacted Brushers Chimney and was told there was a $99 dollar special for an inspection and basic chimney cleaning . On 2/9/2022 I had two men come over that worked for Brushers chimneys . Their names were Rafael and David . One didn't say anything and the other did all the talking . After inspecting my chimney I was told that my chimney needs a "Deep Cleaning " and several repairs that would cost more than 2500 dollars ( don't recall the exact dollar amount, but it was a couple of dollars more than that ) . The man was speaking very quickly and telling that he would have to do a deep clean, do brick repairs, replace my cap , and repair my crown . He made sure to word it like he would be doing a copious amount of work . I quickly told him I felt misled because I was led to believe it would be 100 dollars now it's 2500 dollars ( a huge difference) .He then proceeded to tell me that "he won't charge me for the deep cleaning and replacing the cap " and it will be $1850 plus tax which would now be $1980 if I " don't tell the company the he did a deep clean and left a good review " . Because he continuously explained that so much had to be done I , against my better judgement ,agreed . We have an older home and we moved in a year ago and don't know the last time the chimney was serviced and I also never had a chimney before . So it needing extra service sounded reasonable to me . After the job was done he showed me the before and after pictures I immediately felt scammed . The "brick repair" was him simply filling in a few gaps between a few bricks with concrete . The crown repair was him putting two layers of concrete over it . And he did not "replace" my cap . He just painted it . I called to express that I was not pleased with the service I was told that " unfortunately the man does speak great English and that he may not have been able to communicate what the job required correctly . He was speaking English just fine in my opinion ....... But ok .even if that is the case , if he doesn't know how to communicate the job effectively, there should be someone there to help him explain or he should call the business and have them explain . After multiple of conversations , 10% of the the total was deducted . The ladies my husband and I spoke to at the office were very polite but ultimately I was charged $1782 for a few concrete filled wholes , a couple layers of concrete on a small surface , and a painted cap that was suppose to be replaced . I feel mislead and taken advantage of . Oh and also the back wall of our chimney is black from when someone else used it years ago . When asked if he would be cleaning that , I was told , " it will just get back dirty when you use the chimney " . For $1800 that should not matter , it should be cleaned . I won't be returning to this company next year and my advice any new clients is beware of the huge jump in pricing , which I'm Pretty sure is made up along the way . read more

I have my fireplace cleaned every year these by far the worst, overpriced, and definitely need to learn what it is to be professional. They brought in their equipment and placed it on my rugs before protecting with a cover. After their inspection I was told I had multiple problems that I could not see in their pictures. Also, when I called it in, I was given a price cleaning my chimney. Then I find out there several prices for each part of the fireplace. Why would I want, just the fireplace cleaned and not the chimney and the damper. One part does not make the other parts any safer to burn for the next season. DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY THEY SCAMMED ME OUT OF $1400.00 AND WILL NOT TAKE MY CALLS. This is the email I sent to them and they WILL NOT reply. The lady that answers the phone keeps hanging up on me as well. On Oct 25, 2022 your company came out to inspect and clean my chimney. After their initial inspection they advised me that I needed some things repaired. The cost of these repairs was $1400.00 which I happily paid because I do like to use my fireplace. I was also told there was a 5 year warranty. Come Jan 2023 when I was cleaning out the ash from my fireplace I noticed the cracks in the back of my fireplace had reappeared. Whatever they used to make my fireplace look pretty and FIXED was indeed not FIXED. I called the office and spoke with the girl who answers your phones. I can tell she is the one who recorded your greeting. She advised someone would be there the following day between noon and 4:30. Well NO ONE showed up or CALLED. I spent the next 2 weeks calling your office only to be met with NO ONE answering the phone. When I finally did get hold of "that girl" she said she would have someone contact me. Little did I know, a third party was reaching out to me regarding the inspection of my fireplace. When he arrived and explained he was a third party it made me really mad. He told me that Brushers Chimney basically put a Band-Aid on my fireplace and that he could repair what was actually necessary for $1700.00. THIS REALLY PISSED ME OFF. I called and spoke with "that girl" again and she proceeded to hang up on me. My request is simple, either refund my money or come and repair my fireplace as it should have been done in the first place OR, I will contact every news outlet in Houston and the DFW area to make people aware of your lack of responsibility. If I could give zero stars I would. They promise one thing and do another. After several thousands of dollars I have. A half ass repaired fireplace. He made a mess and didn't clean anything up. He also left behind his construction in my trash bins and now I'm stuck with it because the trash company will not pick it up. After speaking with his boss he repaired the bottom and all sides of fireplace. After my husband came home and inspected it we noticed that what he put in is all chipped and cracked. At the time I had hurt my back and not able to bend down and look at it. I will never use this company again I would not recommend it. When things sound too good to be true! We agreed to pay to have this company come out and clean our Chimneys, repair the out side of the Chimneys and place a crown and spark arrested on the Chimneys, and fix the bricks and mortar in the fireboxes (5 fireplaces). They weren't on time( couldn't find my house) and when they told me the job was done (many many hours later) there was spray paint on the front of one of the fire places the cap and crown weren't finished(sealed completely). The brickwork was horrific (and still is) we had a rain and my fireplaces leaked! One of the chimney flues was still completely blocked! They came out to repair their work and left all 5 of the fireplaces in a shambles after 7 hours of work, 4 of the 4 fireplaces were unusable. I started a fire in the fireplace they said was done and the riom filled with smoke, and the "high heat" motar they used has bubbled up. I let the technician know about the smoke and he told and me to not use the fireplaces until they can come back out to finish the repairs. The fireplaces are our main source of heat in our home! Turns out they aren't able to come out for a week. Now we have a cold snap in Texas at 28 degrees and I have no fireplaces to heat my home. Date of inspection: 12/21/2022 Amount Paid: $99 inspection plus $300 deep clean of chimney Your company was supposed to inspect for safety, explain proper operation and deep clean the chimney. We were told it was safe to use and would be good until an annual inspection was due next year. However, when we lit the fireplace and opened the dampener, the dampener actually fell apart due to rusting through on the rivets that held it in place. The chimney was not venting properly and the house filled with smoke. My wife spoke to a woman on the phone who said that we were notified that the fireplace was unsafe to use. That is not true. I attempted to contact you to obtain a copy of an inspection report via e-mail, Facebook messenger and a comment on their Facebook page. All communication was ignored and I have been blocked from Facebook entirely. I was never rude or obnoxious in any of my communications with you. I had the $99 special done on 9\19/22 Overall, I was NOT impressed with the service, which was the bare MINIMUM, nor his customer service. The fella (can't remember his name, and it's not on the reciept) arrived with 2 helpers. The 2 helpers proceeded to tape off the area and get the shop vac going. They LITERALLY fed the brush up the chimney ONCE....and I'm not even sure they went to the top. I thought they at least would feed the brush from the top to bottom as well....nope. Then they took a soft hand brush and brushed the side brick, barely, leaving untouched areas. When the salesman came back inside, I asked him to please have them go over the brick area again....he proceeded to inform me (again) "this is only the BASIC service". After I insisted they at least do the "basic" service a bit more thorough than half-baked, he sent them in to brush again. The salesman was curt, a bit sarcastic, unfriendly, and in his rehearsed monotone voice and presentation, felt he had to inform me 3x this was the "basic" service. On a positive note, the salesman was punctual and the service techs were courteous, and I did get some helpful info about safety issues concerning my fireplace. I don't feel I got my $$ worth, and I will DEFINITELY NOT be calling these guys back. Their repair service is way overpriced. STAY AWAY !!!!!! contacted company for duct cleaning because we had dusty air ducks. technicians came in and removed two registers, took pictures and told us we had black mold. Showed me videos on his cell phone of the " black mold ". Tech went to his van to get an estimate from the company. the price jumped from $139-$931. Working in construction all my life, I know what black mold looks like. I Got on the ladder took pictures with a flashlight in hand and what they were trying to sell as a "Black mold"was Dirt particles. I hope they don't rip off people that don't know the difference but their upsell techniques are horrible.
