Located on Durango just south of Sahara, Bruster's is an ice cream stand where you can grab a cone (sundae, banana split, shake, freeze) and sit under a shaded canopy and enjoy your ice cream. There is no indoor seating. They have amazing and creative flavors some you've probably never come across before. They have sherbet, sorbet, non-dairy, and no sugar varieties so they cater to a wide range of tastes. They make REAL ice cream and use high quality ingredients. Their Butter Pecan, contains dozens of fresh, whole pecans. Not crumbs and pieces. Honestly more pecans in a single scoop than I've ever had anywhere! The staff is efficient and friendly. One of my favorite things to get on a hot summer day is definitely ice-cream. My husband grew up in Georgia and one of his fondest memories was enjoying a sweet treat from Bruster's. Since we were on this side of town we decided to stop by to get some ice-cream before we headed home. We ordered at the walk-up window and the cashier immediately greeted us, was very friendly, and efficiently took down our order. I ordered a Dino Sundae with the caramel swirl no sugar added ice-cream and my husband got two scoops of the strawberry and cream in a cup. Our ice-creams came out very fast which I was stoked about because it was extremely hot outside. My husband absolutely loved his ice-cream and he said it tasted exactly how he remembered it to be. I thought both of the ice-creams tasted good, but they offered more of an icier texture compared to being on a more creamier consistency. I really enjoyed the sprinkles that came on the sundae and I used the Dino cookie as a scoop which gave it some added crunch. I really liked that they offered a few different no sugar added/fat free, non-dairy, and oat milk options. My bowl was a small size with 2 scoops, chocolate fudge and sea salt caramel. Each flavor was incredible. Chocolate fudge was creamy and rich. The sea salt caramel was excellent as it balanced perfectly sweet and salty flavors. The waffle bowl was freshly prepared and provided a nice crunchy texture to pair with the ice cream. Like most places, they also make sure if anyone has any specific allergies/ we yelped for a decent ice cream place and this came up. I'm glad it did. They are way off the strip so a local's place. You place order at the front windows and get your order to the right. It's cool because they also have a drive thru for those who would rather stay in their car. They have many options and cones to choose from. Outside they have benches and nice water spraying at you since it is hot. However, this location has fallen short of its former glory in terms of customer service and quality ice cream. During my recent visit, I requested a strawberry shortcake sundae w/light whip and they decide to make one without the strawberry sauce. When I returned to collect it, they had made one with a tart strawberry sauce, likely due to it being out of date. This incident prompted me to question the competence of the store's associates and management. Mind you the store was not busy and my order was a drive-through order. And when I walked up to have them correct the order it's as if he knew he messed up and made it without question. I urge the owners to address these issues promptly. I appreciate that they post their daily flavors online so you can narrow down your choices ahead of time. If still indecisive, they allow you to sample the flavors, which I did today. I was debating between Graham Central Station and the White Raspberry Truffle (non dairy), so the employee recommended I try a sample of the latter as it's hit and miss for people. After sampling the White Raspberry Truffle, I opted for the Graham Central Station. After a few minutes my order was ready and I was surprised at how large the small (double scoop) was. I easily could have been satisfied with a single scoop, but that's not an option. That being said, you definitely get your money's worth here! There is a shaded outdoor area with misting fans, which is much appreciated in the Vegas summer heat. I quickly dug into my cone as it was melting in the heat. They boast about making their ice cream in house daily and I could definitely tell the difference. It was very creamy and full of the promised graham flavor. The chunks of graham cracker and chocolate gave some texture to the otherwise soft ice cream. It was delicious until the last bite! The others in my party enjoyed their ice cream as well. I've seen many people mention this ice cream spot, so we decided to try it out on a whim while passing by. There is an outdoor covered seating area with misters, a walk up window, and a drive thru. It is not a walk-in/ dine-in establishment. THE SERVICE The employee who helped us at the walk-up window was pleasant, and informed us of the day's specials. She also offered us coupons at the end of the transaction. Speed of service was fine as well. THE FOOD We ordered the brownie sundae with Oreo ice cream for $11. It came in a huge bowl. Unfortunately, we quickly realized that the space was mostly occupied with whipped cream. The ice cream itself was fine, but reminded me of Dreyer's brand- the texture was more airy than I prefer, and, again, the whipped cream was totally taking over the bowl so there wasn't actually that much ice cream to begin with. The brownie at the bottom was warm, but extremely sweet- think packaged brownie bites from the grocery store. Chocolate syrup was drizzled all over. The whole thing was a sugar bomb... which, duh, it's a brownie sundae so it's supposed to be, but it was like TOOOO sweet, you know? Even my fiancé, who has a huge sweet tooth, kind of struggled with it. THE TAKEAWAY I honestly didn't think it was great value for the price, especially given the plethora of ice cream shops available in the Valley. I've been wanting to try this for awhile now and I finally did. I love it here bc they have no sugar added ice cream and post their nutrition facts on their website. I researched and found that their NSA ice cream contains about 5-11 grams of sugar for up to 5.2 oz of ice cream. They tend to have 3 NSA items and switch the flavors frequently. I have better options here than at Handels and they won me over. They also tastes delicious and can't tell that their NSA ice cream contains less sugar. They have the option to sit out or drive-thru.
