It seems like it took this location 1000yrs to get this flavor. This has to be one of THE best, if not THE BEST flavors Brusters make! When they finally do, they fudged it up...well not really because they didn't put the fudge in it. It had more almonds in it than ice cream. Literally every bite of ice cream had almonds in it. The service is usually friendly and fast as this is a walk up window ordering scenario. There's plenty of parking and with tables available around the building. Decent list of unusual flavors! Tonight I had two scoops -- butter brickle and key lime pie. The butter brickle took me back to my childhood -- I have not seen it in decades. Such a treat! There was also a new flavor tonight -- wedding cake, which was almond cake batter ice cream with raspberry swirl. My wife really enjoyed that, and I could understand why when I tasted it. I also frequently come here to get my chocolate malted milkshake fix. It's not summer without at least one of these every month! I was so flustered I didn't take any photos. Sooooo walk up and its a doggy park..on dog barked and growled at everyone. Owners hate pull it away several times. Ordered: butter pecan milk shake and brownie with ice cream on top with whip cream. Let's start with the shake, it was vanilla with whole pecans at the bottom. Not blended well, no spoon given and the pecans were just too much. I was drink milk that was luke warm, it wasn't even cold. As if it was made and someone didn't want it so they tossed pecans it in and gave it to me. The brownie thing: so my BF was so disappointed with soft serve ice cream on the brownie. I really like Bruster's. That's real Hersheys Ice Cream is delicious and they offer a decent amount of flavors. I hate to see some of the seasonal ones go like chocolate coconut almond. They used to give heaping scoops but have cut back a bit and the price has risen in the hard times but not by too much. I agree with 100% of what our lovely CM's recent review of this place. I haven't been to a Brusters in more than five years. I stopped going here because I wasn't a huge fan of any ice cream place in Richmond. But I actually do think that this is a great location for me because it's right on Staples Mill across from the Kroger Super center and there's plenty of parking for customers. I came here with a group of friends after a brutal volleyball practice outdoors in the heat. I didn't want anything dairy based so I got an orange pina colada freeze per the employee's recommendation. It's kinda like a slurpee that's mixed in with sprite. It sounded good and it was for the first two spoonfuls but it got uncomfortably sweet towards the middle and became inedible for me. The flavors didn't really taste like orange and the pina colada tasted like concentrate so I don't think they actually make these with all natural ingredients. I only ate about half before I threw in the towel. The service was quick and friendly and they even gave me one punch on their rewards card; you get a free treat after 8 purchases but unfortunately I will not be coming back here to fulfill my sweet fix. I paid about $4 for a 16oz freeze which seemed like a good deal to me. I feel like if you're a fan of Baskin Robbins, then you will probably like this place. read more

Gelati Celesti is down the street, Sweet 95 is a quick trip down 64, and the mother of all Krogers is across the street and they sell tubs of Homestead Creamery ice cream. Even the best ice cream shop wouldn't want to be in that trifecta. I guess what I'm saying is that it's not that Bruster's is bad, it's just in the mix with some tough competition. When I was in elementary school, this was the place to be. All of our fundraisers were held at Bruster's and I enjoyed getting the dinosaur sundae (purple ice cream with a purple and green sprinkle dinosaur sugar cookie! Yes, really mature. I know). I hadn't been here in years, but when I recently got a strong craving for cotton candy ice cream, I knew that Bruster's was the only place that had it. My mom had a buy one get one free coupon, so off we went! The customer service was good, but after sitting in the car and eating it for a while, I was just underwhelmed. The customer service was good- we were greeted and offered ice cream sampling before our order. I didn't realize that children under a certain height get a free ice cream. That was a nice surprise and my son loved the sprinkles that were on his cone. There is a nice seating area, some tables with umbrellas, which was a appreciated because it was very hot out today. Seriously- if you want a melted ice cream cone served by sloppy, sullen teenagers, this is the place to go. We stopped here last night for ice cream... when it was our turn at the window, the brainless teenager at the window completely ignored us so she could interject into the order that was being placed with another employee at the window next to her. Then she stood there with her mouth open, listening to the rest of the order. Moments later when she remembered she had customers at her window to wait on, she served us melted ice cream in cones- the ice cream was dripping all over our hands and the cones, and she didn't seem to notice or care. It was clear that the freezers hadn't been closed, and the ice cream was melting before it was ever scooped. It's even more clear that there's no manager watching over the inept teenagers they've hired at this establishment. Wanted a strawberry sundae with wet nuts and they didn't disappoint. It was perfect! Hubby asked for something that wasn't on the menu..... A banana split made into a shake. We first went a couple of months ago and after a few visits, we found something everyone enjoys. I first had a Reese's Peanut Butter blast. It was not hard enough and there didn't seem to be enough peanut butter cups. The second visit I fell in love with the chocolate chip cookie dough ice cream on a sugar cone. My 8 year daughter loves the sherbet (strawberry, blue pop and watermelon). My 4 year old son also loves the sherbet in the same flavors as well as the chocolate ice cream on a sugar cone. My wife really likes the chocolate raspberry truffle ice cream on a waffle cone. My mother-in-law really enjoys the banana ice cream on a waffle cone. They have a drive thru and only outdoor seating. We like to park under a tree and eat the ice cream in the car or sit in the trunk of the car. There are other good ice cream options in Richmond but everyone in our family can agree on this place for a sweet treat. read more

Out of two open windows and only one customer getting helped, it's hard to believe three to four employees just walking around with their arms folded and not once did anyone come to the window.
