What a great first time patient experience! This place is located on the south of Foothill Blvd near San Antonio Regional Hospital. A little tricky to enter the parking at first because of the double street off Foothill Blvd., but very easy to find and plenty of parking and signage to help you find your way. My appointment was for 2:30pm, so I arrived about 15 minutes prior to fill out paperwork. Copay must be paid by either Cash, Zelle, or Check - FSA is also accepted. Within 10 minutes of my appointment time, I had my vitals checked and was placed in a room to wait for Dr. Nina Chan. It was another 10 minutes or less before Dr. Chan entered and began our first wellness visit. I had such a great first impression. Dr. Chan took her time to go over each of the intake documents I filled out, addressing every concern and going in depth to fully understand me as a patient. She had great body language and eye contact the entire time, making me feel valued and important, which I cannot express enough how impactful this is given the state of our medical system as a whole. I feel I've truly found a gem of a doctor and that makes me incredibly relieved and happy. Dr. Nina Chan, thank you for seeing me today, taking your time, and addressing my concerns. Again I'm so HAPPY with my Dr! Dr. Nina Chan is the best. I've seen a lot of General Dr's in my past and NEVER have I had a DR take as much time as she does with her patience. She covers everything from the top of your head to your toes. She is nice, funny, professional, great bed side manner, knowledgeable and truly cares. I spent almost a hour and a half in my appointment that shows she doesn't rush anyone. She's down to earth not stuck up in the clouds at all. I love this office. Dr. Chan clearly doesn't care about his patients and only the money he receives. My mother in law has dementia, Parkinson's and skin cancer. He knows this because he is the one who diagnosed her and he has all the referrals from the specialists. He refused to sign paperwork and proceed with a referral to get her into a wound care clinic, but he delayed this so we had to take her to the hospital and thankfully they put her in the wound care clinic. She could have lost her lower limb. I also turned in paperwork to him family paid leave and you only have 10 days to turn in, but he didn't care about that. Knowing that she is in the hospital, he said he had to wait and see her. The paperwork only had a few questions about what she had already been diagnosed with. All he wants is money and doesn't care about his patients. read more

Listen and are very knowledgeable in informing the patient or at least for me they do . They make me feel comfortable . They are great . They explain thing in detail. I found Dr Chan's office info from a reverse phone number look up after getting what I thought was a phishing call. His office called for my adolescent son saying he had an appointment that he scheduled himself?? I asked what kind of dr office this is and had to ask for a manager. She then told me my child had made it there on his own for a previous appointment, WTF!! Felt like a phishing scam to get my sons info. They asked for birthdate and then to confirm full name - hung up. Then I found all these bad reviews. This office doesn't sound legit at all. read more

I waited over 2 hours in the waiting room for my appointment. I actually walked out and left. People that came in after I did were seen before me, that's unacceptable. Why would you schedule so many people in the same hour? Any doctors office with one doctor should never have more than 1 or 2 people waiting at a time. I would pass on this place. I only come here because my insurance gives me no other doctor options on Primecare for my specific treatment. With that said, OMG! The front office is filthy! They keep the front door open and I think it's because it smells like urine and it's freezing! Seriously, it does smell really bad! The waiting room chairs are pretty shabby and extremely uncomfortable! (I think there is a fried up worm under one of the chairs, but I'm not going to get that close to check it out!) The front office staff is uneducated when it come to insurance plans, and if they are aware of the insurances their communication with patients doesn't warrant confidence! Now to the back office. Clean people, clean! I know when you see the same things day in and day out you forget to look at the details, but come on! They hazardous waste can had alot of ... well I don't know what was all over it and there was mildew above the sink. The back office staff and doctor are professional and all are very nice. Had an appointment for 845am. Didn't get sen until 10:15. This place is terrible. At least three or more patients went ahead of us.

My first visit with Dr. Chan was very positive. He spent nearly 30 minutes with me and went over all of my issues and at 70 years old I have a few. The office is very clean and spotless. The receptionist was friendly. The very next day I received a call and already have two referrals to specialists. I noticed a couple of photos of dirty areas and a couple of posts about unprofessionalism . I have to disagree and will say this is a top notch Doctor and employees/nurses. read more

I took my 2 teen kids here for about 1 .5 yrs. You can only pay cash which is super sketchy. It is a total ghetto-back- alley run business. Bryan Chan and his daughter are okay, but I just had so many problems w the office mot following up or calling back, getting results, and supposedly "simple" things like getting flu shots or the Gardisil vaccine for my kids. They want you to pay a co-payment aka office visit for the nurse to give u a shot which is crazy. Most offices you do NOT have to pay for a nurse visit. I found a much better place for my teens. They got their vaccine rt away, I could use my debit card, the office wasn't run by a nut job. Seriously avoid this place if u have a lot of health issues or need follow-ups. She wants to make sure that all of my concerns are met before I leave. Dr. Nina Chan is very easy to talk to about anything. There's no need to be embarrassed with her. Dr. Nina Chan is wonderful, reasonable, compassionate, patient, understanding, and more than helpful. She actually takes the time to work with you and give careful consideration to how to best help you with whatever it is you need. I truly appreciate her as a doctor. Dr. Bryan Chan, on the other hand, while he is a good doctor and I've seen him many times over the years, is overly "punctilious" I would say, as in, he's too much of a stickler (to a paranoid degree) in following bogus byzantine bureaucratic regulations and is unreasonable in how much this inconveniences the patient. He makes me come back every month to refill the same prescription, even though he could easily write me the refill ahead of time, like his daughter is willing to do. The office staff is not very helpful or polite, with the exception of Alice, Dr. Chan's wife. As everyone else has rightly pointed out, the typical wait time at the office is excessive and mind-numbingly absurd. read more

Been coming to see Dr. Chan for 19 years. I couldn't be happier. I can be seen for an emergency appointment fairly quickly. The office staff is great, Alice rocks, and has past staff members, miss you Betty. The office is clean. Many of my family have also switched over. I trust Dr Chan with my life. I love that they do acupuncture, for a fee of course. He listens and takes his time. This is doctor who is a doctor to help and not a paycheck. Alice is a licensed nurse which very few doctors offices have one these days, makes me feel comfortable. Of the 150 plus times I have seen him. I've had to wait twice. My chart was becoming as thick as the bible. Appropriate referrals always happen in a timely fashion. Thank you. read more

Miss Chan is totally awesome. She is very thorough and always answers my questions with genuine care and concern. The one thing I don't like is that the office is filthy and they don't have a lab in the office. I went in on Thursday, about 5 days ago and went to the lab to get blood work done and a UTI test. It's Monday evening and I'm still waiting for the test results. While I wait, I'm in pain and have other issues regarding this UTI. I've called daily and they still haven't gotten the results. The receptionist tells me she'll call the lab and call me back but she never does. The doctors care and are very nice but the staff needs to be replaced. read more

0 star place!!! Every time I come here with an appointment I have to wait for over an hour. Even if it's not busy. The last time I came to one of my appointments I was one of the 1st ones there. The waiting room was empty and it was early in the morning right after they opened. I still ended up waiting 2 hours for the doctor only to talk to him for 5 min. I can understand doctors are busy but this is every single time I go. I've been attended quicker in the ER and my sons pediatrician sees him fairly quickly even when the waiting room is full. Dr. Nina Chan is probably an angel disguised as a doctor. I have a long history of poor doctors at other locations, so was shocked to be treated with such professionalism and care. She rushes referrals, writes doctor notes according to exactly what you need, and truly listens. She is wonderful at answering questions and is incredibly knowledgeable. She is fast acting, attentive, and kind. I would HIGHLY recommend this office to anyone. read more

Pretty bad. Got some bloodwork done and the office called back saying just 2 areas were abnormal or high but missed 3 other areas. One of which was a "critical" health issue (high potassium) and the other a major concern (high A1C, which is pre-diabetic). I had to proactively request my lab results myself, where I caught those areas with the help of other doctor friends and relatives. How does a doctor miss these critical issues? If something were to happen to me, he could be held liable for missing these issues! read more
