Business was very responsive, and very professional in their responses. I did not end up, needing…read moreto get the repair done that I requested the quote for, but this business responded quickly, and provide provided all the information I needed to make a good decision. They also provide provided very fair and competitive pricing relative to other quotes I received.

The business messaged me with a seemingly genuine desire to make things right, but the "damage was…read moredone" and I don't know how they could gain my trust again, if ever. Back in Cali, I started working on my own cars because a) I'd end up coming back to the shop because work not done properly, or b) once I have something repaired, another problem would come up as if the shop did something malicious so I could go back to them. If I had more money, I'd probably go to a more expensive place where there'd be a higher likelihood that it'll get done right the first time. But I was broke and would resort to searching for highly rated places, and choosing the most reasonable quote. Fast forward to now, and having to replace a rack and pinion was beyond what I was willing to invest in time and tools, so I went to a shop thinking that I'd find an honest place with someone whom I can call "my mechanic." But I was duped yet again. My message for any business that wants good reviews and repeat customers is: Just do it...right...the first time...and be honest. If you're going to quote a price, make sure it's a price you're comfortable doing outstanding work for and not bait the customer only to do a half baked job, or charge them extra in the end. (Technically, there's supposed to be a signed work order with an estimated price...and they'd have to contact the customer with any changes before work can be completed) Rosie and the rest of the staff seemed like really nice people, and I would have totally gone back....but niceness doesn't overshadow the fact that I wasn't satisfied with the work. Hopefully this serves as a wake up call for them, and as a reminder for other business owners to just do it...right...the first time...honestly, and with pride in your work - knowing that your reward isn't just financial, but that there's satisfaction in knowing that your customer is happy. For now, I'm going to have to go back to fixing/maintaining my own cars , and saving up for any major repairs so I can send my car to a reputable shop with a high number of positive reviews. That, and/or replace my car with a more reliable one with fewer major issues.

Also, they tried to charge me $130 for a $60 - 80 part. But, at least they fixed it.

A couple of years ago, the transmission gave out in my 2002 Hyundai Accent. I spent weeks dealing…read morewith other shops in the DMV before I finally took it to AAMCO in Fort Washington. I knew AAMCO offered great warranties on their services, but I was most pleased by the customer service. Robert Graham, the manager, was wonderful. He helped to put me at ease during a very stressful time with his professionalism and great sense of humor. He pretty much bent over backwards to ensure that I could have my car fixed, despite my less than stellar financial situation at the time. He helped me out a lot and ensured that my car was in tip top shape, which pleasantly surprised me, as I had grown accustomed to sub par customer service and mechanical work dealing with other shops. Also, the location is great! You can walk to 7-Eleven, Giant and KFC as you are waiting to get your car done. Nothing is worse than being stranded in the middle of nowhere without a car... although often times I just stayed at the shop to shoot the shit with Graham. My Hyundai lasted up until it was hit and totaled a month ago (I moved to Pittsburgh shortly after my car was fixed, and Pittsburgh drivers are notoriously awful). But because of Graham at AAMCO, I was able to keep my car long enough to move and establish myself in a new city and at a new college, which was a godsend. If I had to get a new car before I moved, I would've had to postpone my move and delay going back to school. Before you waste any time dealing with any other auto shop, go see Graham at AAMCO in Fort Washington. You will not be disappointed! You may even get a new friend out of it all... I know I did!
