I have to agree with prior review on service. I was a walk-in dressed plainly in running shoes with hair in a bun. The person helping me had obviously made assumptions on what he thought I could afford and consistently showed me their least expensive rings. My budget was much larger than the pieces that were shown to me and it was a funny retail misstep. Their website promises welcoming experts to guide you through finding the perfect ring for every budget and style, but the reality couldn't be further from the truth. My boyfriend and I walked in excited to start looking at engagement rings, only to be sneered at, ignored, and made to feel like we didn't belong. When I said we were "just looking for rings," I was met with cold stares that left me embarrassed and uncomfortable. It felt like a Pretty Woman moment -- humiliating and crushing. Guess I should've brought my Louis bag to get treated with basic respect. What should have been a joyful milestone was completely ruined. Shameful. read more

Went here to look at wedding rings for my fiancé and me. Initially when we walked in I asked if my fiancee could be sized for a ring. He seemed annoyed and then I asked if we could look at wedding bands. He reluctantly took us back. My fiance was trying on different rings and we were discussing if we liked them or not. Then the worker says "it seems like she controls you completely. " and I gave him the benefit of the doubt he was joking and kind of gave a laugh and said no. Then he said very seriously "sure seems like it" he seemed very angry by it. I was in shock. We immediately left. I rarely complain ever. But I felt so gross leaving there. It was very misogynistic . I did not get his name but he was an older gentleman with an accent. Very upsetting. read more

Went in to get the battery replaced on my watch and while waiting, ended up thinking I was having early term labor contractions. I was in so much pain and the staff showed kindness beyond what can even be expressed in words. They ended up taking care of my daughter, slipping my repaired watch in my purse and driving me the hospital. We are 0/2 at Bryant and Sons. We went six months ago as I was wanting to buy myself a Cartier watch. The woman was barely helpful and not offering suggestions of what might work based on what I was looking for. Also rude in general. We ended up leaving and instead I drove to the Cartier store south and had impeccable service. Yesterday we went to try on a Breitling for my husband and they didn't have much knowledge on the brand even though they had many of their watches. The sales person twice referred to my husband as a "big guy" even though he is 5'9" - compared to the size of the watch. Assume he was talking about his weight. Another sales person (I think the owner) came over long enough just to mock my question on the size difference. We walked out. We again will drive south and buy from pros who know how to sell watches and dont make us feel crappy about walking in their store. read more

They've never let us down. Prices seem reasonable but we have only used them for repairs. They send the pieces elsewhere for fixing but the turnaround time is good and prices seem fair. Their assessment, estimates and follow through are all good. Within the anticipated time, you get a phone call saying it's ready. Scott is friendly, courteous and good humored. He's the main reason we keep going back. Most of the staff there are friendly. One older gentlemen was less friendly, more perfunctory but whatever... probably a little burnt out but courteous enough not to offend, so we'll continue to take our business there. read more

OMG...Where do I begin?! Have done business with this company NUMEROUS times throughout the years. I've given them every chance to redeem themselves, yet they continue to dissappoint! I'll begin with the experience of having purchased a ring from them in the 1980's. I was told that their designer created original designs that I would not see elsewhere. Less than a year after purchasing the ring, I was at a company function out of town when a woman approached me with "Oh my God! We have the SAME ring!" She had purchased her ring from another jeweler in Ventura. Who knows which jeweler copied the design, but I was NOT amused! A year after purchasing a wedding set from them, I took the ring in to have the bands soldered together. They informed me that they'd have to keep the ring for a week or so. Several weeks after picking up the ring, I noticed a black speck and proceeded to clean the ring, thinking that it was something caught under the setting. Upon further inspection, the speck turned out to be a HUGE carbon flaw in the center stone, which did NOT exist when we purchased the ring. We returned to the store where they admitted that they had a jewler who had been "switching stones" and that he had since been fired. They replaced the stone with a similar stone to the original one purchased, with their appologies. REALLY???!!! That's IT???!!! In the 1990's I took the same ring into the store, hoping to to trade it in towards the purchase of a watch. The woman who helped me took out her loop and inspected the ring. She rudely stated that they wouldn't be able to credit me very much toward the purchase of the watch I had chosen because the ring wasn't of very good QUALITY, to which I replied loudly, "REALLY??....Because I purchased it HERE!" That woman could not have backpeddled faster! She disappeared for about 10 minutes (I think she was hoping I would leave) and when she returned, offered a substantially higher credit towards my watch purchase than originally offered. I decided to take my business elsewhere. Another incident was when my husband purchased a beautiful Cartier watch for me for our anniversary. Unfortunately, he purchased it from Bryant & Sons. The battery on the watch needs to be replaced approximately every 2 years, which forces me to deal with them regularly as they are the only authorized Cartier dealer in town and taking it to someone else would void the warranty. The watch is usually gone for a MONTH or more (they told me that they don't work on them in-house, but ship them to Cartier) and it costs approximately $90 to have the battery replaced. The last time I took my Cartier in, when I picked the watch up Bryant & Sons told me that it would be over $400. WHAT? They said that they had also had the watch cleaned. I told them that since I had not authorized the cleaning, that I would NOT be paying for it! Sorry guys, 4 strikes.... You're OUT! There are plenty of other reputable jewlers out there. I'm more of a word of mouth type of guy... if I like a place I'll return and/or recommend the business to friends/family and acquaintances. That being said... my experience with Bryant & Son's was phenomenal! So much so that I honestly feel that it is my duty to put a good and honest word of recommendation out there for any one looking for fine quality jewelry. They are very professional, trustworthy and interactive. I recently had a custom diamond pendant made and there where many times during the process when I felt like I was right there with the jeweler watching it be made myself! My sales representative kept me posted every step of the way with photos of the different stages of the whole process.... very cool! The end result... I love my diamond pendant!... well worth the money I spent to make it (very fine quality)! So if you're unsure of a place to make that special purchase, wether for yourself or that special someone, I highly recommend Bryant & Sons in Santa Barbara (located on State Street)... My fiancée proposed with my great grandmother's heirloom diamond ring, which was set in yellow gold and needed an extensive amount of updating and restoring. We took it to Bryant & Sons and explained what we wanted done. Scott understood exactly what we wanted, and relayed it perfectly to their exemplary jeweler. I got a call 8 days later that it was done - early! Although Scott told me how pleased we would be, I had no idea what to expect when we went to pick it up. I wasn't prepared for how magnificent it would be. It took my breath away, and the work they did exceeded my every expectation. I would give Bryant & Sons 10 stars if I could. If they can do such an outstanding job on such a delicate and precarious project, I doubt there is anything they can't do. read more
