I must say. This place is a must if you're ever out in Iron Mountain, MI. Traveling for work and seen this place and figured I would give it a try. Well, very welcomed. The hospitality was splendid. Service was great and very clean. But the food, I was very surprised when I happen to see the menu. They had a very great selection of food. But after reading all the deliciousness dishes. My tummy decided with the chicken alfredo. It was yummy. Cooked just right and the noodles were not so dry. If I'm back in this area. I'm for sure stopping here again.. Three of us came for early dinner on Friday. Very clean! Ice cold air conditioning. They have rotating menus for breakfast/ lunch/dinner. We like to eat healthy and this place had good options. Service was correct, fast, and friendly. Food was great. We had garlic fried cheese curds with marinara, chicken Parmesan (chicken was excellent), and baked cod (also excellent). The Chicken Wings are the bomb !! I ordered 6 with Garlic Parmesan on it and 6 with Barbecue sauce . The bone in ones are so meaty and delicious., this is definitely worth the meal . They served them alongside fries that were crispy on the outside but just right on the inside. Very hot and tasty. Cafe style inside. Got seated right away. Service was good. Being from Florida this was a little different dinner. Milkshake was amazing Cheese curds, we don't get them back home, oh my they are good Had soup and sandwiches and ordered chicken and dumplings and a BLT. I thought they delivered the wrong soup. Chicken and dumplings in the south are completely different, but this was still good. The BLT was excellent. One downer was they didn't have free refills on my wife's root beer. Ordered breakfast to go. Everything was bland and soggy. They didn't follow the instructions we requested--well done bacon and hash browns. We ended up throwing away very undercooked bacon and barely warmed hash browns. They mention their bread is "homemade." It's just mushy white bread. I won't go back. read more

The food is average at best. But the waitstaff is a hardworking pleasant group of retirees (or should be) which bumps up the review. The turkey on my open face turkey sandwich was dried out and served with beef gravy. Nothing to write home about. Parking is a little crazy with the cramped lot and elderly customers so to avoid bumper cars, park on the side of the building or across the street. It's clean and easy to locate. read more

This place was pleasantly surprising. I got a chicken wrap that comes with slaw, which sounds boring, but it was more than just your average wrap. The wrap might have been grilled (not sure, I'd never seen anything like it), it was darn good. Not only did I get slaw with my wrap they surprised me again with a little side of potato salad...my lucky day. My buddy ordered a burger and it came out on a pretzel bun, kind of like you see at Bennigan's. If I'd have known that I may have got the burger. This place hasn't changed since 1992! I came here today for the first time in five years as we were traveling though the upper peninsula. Right away, we were sat at a card table with four banquet chairs. The table was in the left dining room and we were so disturbed being sat right next to the bathroom AND the service door. We were constantly in view of people using the bathroom as we were trying to enjoy our breakfast. We also noticed the decor was very out of date. They didn't help putting the blinds up or even opening them for sunlight. The dining room felt like we were in an old senior home. The service wasn't great either! Our server didn't once give us her name and the front desk people didn't look thrilled to be there either. The only thing keeping this review alive was the food! Our breakfast was really tasty and the rye bread was fresh. Everything else needs consideration! I was embarrassed to take my friends here from out of town. read more

I stopped here around lunchtime and was happy to find out that they were still serving breakfast. I ordered the scrambled eggs, hash browns and toast and my friend ordered a burger and fries. The Holiday Kitchen came highly recommended to us by the front desk staff at a nearby hotel. Upon first glance, I wasn't if it would be all the great. The exterior is modest and the dining area is pretty simple too. However, the food is out of the world incredible. I had the all you can eat lunch special with soup, salad, and bread. Bread is made fresh every 30 minutes and the soups are also all house made. The salad also had a delicious house dressing that I wish I could bottle up and take home. I am all about dining local, but it will be a LONG TIME before we order from Holiday Kitchen again! I called in a To-Go Order. They said 30 minutes. I got there 25 minutes later and they had not put my order in!! I had to wait another 25 minutes for my food to be ready, and I didn't even get an apology. My Mom and I love coming here but today was the first time we ever had poor service. The waitress was plesant but the lady that sat us was very rude. We asked for a booth and was snapped at and told this was our table and she walked away without eye contact. She was very impersonal and I wanted to walk right out after that moment but my Mom wanted to stay since we drove an hour to dine here. My Mom asked our waitress for a booth because we saw (since we walked in) 2 were available but had yet to be cleared from the last people. We had no trouble waiting and was seated at the booth when it was ready. The woman that seated us should not be the face you are greeted with when you walk in the door. She obviously doesn't have the personality or manners to make you feel welcome. It's time for her to retire. read more

Went to this restaurant because it seemed pretty packed, and thought it would be a good experience. However, there wasn't very much selection of food items, and the prices where a bit expensive ($8.50 + for entrée, 1 side). I ordered a country fried steak, and while it was 'OK', it was definitely not worth the $8.99 I paid for it. The only sides they offered were fries, or mashed potatoes. Do I have to give it an entire star? Apparently. This place consistently gets the Daily News Readers' Choice award for Best Restaurant, but I have NO idea how. I guess with local gem The Blind Duck now gone and with former local gems Fontana's and Romagnoli's having gone so downhill, people in Iron Mountain have forgotten entirely what good food is. Having recently moved back to the area and at a bit of a loss for a decent place to get lunch, my mom and I went here. I'm not going to comment on the service because for the most part, as long as I get my drink and food and can flag my server down fairly easily for a refill or whatever, I don't give a crap how enthusiastic he or she is. I also am going to refrain from commenting on the decor, because it's another thing I just don't care about. I go to a restaurant for (hoping delicious) food, not to wax poetic about cheap art reproductions. Prices are fairly low and portions are ridiculously huge, and I guess that's all anyone in the area cares about. My mom ordered a burrito or something and I ordered a chicken-fried steak with mashed potatoes. Both meals were as bland as can be. The paper placemat would have been more flavorful. To boot, the coffee was also terrible (and I'm not fussy about my coffee). The food came lightning-fast, so I think all they do here is microwave stuff. Basically... Godawful. A very impromptu dinner decision turned into a new recommendation to my friends! The friendly staff and very pleasant, clean atmosphere made the short dinner wait very easy. I ordered the sweet and sour shrimp, which was so large I will have an excellent leftover lunch at work tomorrow! My significant other ordered the "Big Daddy" burger, which he confidently explained as "high-quality beef on a pretzel bun, with REAL bacon at a really great value!"
