I first must say I am a vegetarian so why am I eating at a BBQ restaurant. I was hoping for some big baked potato but they did not have. I had some kind of taco/SW salad and thought it was ok. I really was looking forward to combining ranch dressing with BBQ sauce for a good dressing but I did not love any of the sauces. We did really like the nachos and we REALLY liked the fried pickles. My family stopped in here after a weekend full of traveling for all of us. We were all pretty hungry and tired, but our server was super nice and attentive. We started with an order of fried pickles and some beer. The pickles were really good and they paired well with their housemade ranch dressing. For dinner, we ordered a 4 meat platter to share. We got the Texas hot link, the burnt ends, the pork shoulder, and the brisket. The platters come with two sides - so we ordered the waffle fries and Brussel sprouts. In addition, we ordered a small mac n cheese. Starting with the various meats: - Texas hot link: was really good. super flavorful and had a nice spice to it. - Burnt ends: my favorite of the meats for sure. They are super juicy due to the fattiness of the meat - pork shoulder: your standard pulled pork. It wasn't outstanding compared to the other meats. - brisket: delicious, juicy meat. very flavorful. The sides were also delicious. The fries came in a huge basket and had a nice cajunish taste to them. The Brussel sprouts were by far my favorite of the sides. Good food decent prices. I kept it simple with a pulled pork sandwich, waffle fries and atomic cheese sauce on the side. Having lived in the Carolinas for 6 years I appreciate good pulled pork and this spot did not disappoint. The waffle fries left slot to be desired but the sandwich was thick the meat tender and the bun warm and soft. Bub City is the epitome of a chain restaurant. Cheesy pictures and artifacts, mediocre food and boring drinks. The hostess wasn't the friendliest, but the bartenders and servers were cool. Bub City was a fun place to have an impromptu Friday night dinner. It's high energy, countrified, and comes with a wall of whiskey. Yep. A whole wall dedicated to yummy whiskeys. The dining experience as a whole was pretty good. Hostess, server, bar, and food runners were all smiling and friendly. I ordered the Old Fashioned made with plum bitters (it happened to be on special for $5) which was tasty and easy to drink. The table had fried pickles, St. Louis style ribs (smokey and dry rubbed), and Chicago style ribs (saucy) and ordered roasted Brussels sprouts, tater tots, and slaw as sides. The sprouts were addicting and the ribs were really good. I must say that I have had better ribs but for what this place is, I don't knock 'em. I have been meaning to get my butt to Bub City because I see people check in left and right. It has beers and comfort food so what more can a girl ask for? Well, a girl can ask for the quality of the food to be better that's for sure. Went in Saturday PM around dinner time and the place was jam packed. That led me to assume that it was going to be a great experience so I put my name on the list and I got drinks at the bar. It took a while for the bartender to get to me but eh I had time to kill so I am not going to complain. What I am going to complain is the reason why Bub City forgets that it is located in Rosemont rather than downtown Chicago. Why should a vodka drink have to cost 13 dollars and beer cost 8? Will never know. Moving on to the food. We had nachos, salmon, mac and cheese and chicken. The only thing good from the choices we had was the mac and cheese. They do have a coupe of N/A beer and N/A cocktail options which is a plus. The service was relatively quick but indifferent. I placed an order online and they delivered it with no barbecue sauce for the pulled pork and no gluten free bun. I always get the gluten free bun here so I'm not sure why it was just left out . This place is NOT messing around when it comes to their bloody mary bar. It's on the pricey side - $13/pop - but you can skewer so much shit you'll walk away full from your "drink," pondering if you should have even ordered a main... Seriously, though, there's shrimp, deviled eggs, pickled veggies, grilled cheese, some sort of encased meat wrapped in bread, cheese cubes, oysters, pickles, celery AND beer backs. I'm forgetting about 32 other "ingredients," but you get the gist. Brunch service was fast and mostly attentive, food was tasty and plentiful. Prices could be considered steep since you don't really get a side with some of the mains. Another gripe is that every condiment accompanying my chicken biscuit sandwich had bacon in it. (I don't eat pork.) It wasn't listed on the menu and there should be bacon-less options. I would have asked for something else, but my toddler's 30-minute-window of sitting and eating had passed so our only options were to woof down what we had and run out the door. read more

Bub City is my main go to when I want good food and cocktails, they have done a great job to maintain social distancing and follow Covid restrictions, The staff is all fantastic from management down, it is truly great to have a place that enjoys their whiskey and is happy to have a 20 minute conversation about their offerings and the back story, I have eaten out 11 times in 8 months, 9 of them have been at Bub City. Wasn't the best food and wasn't the worst food. I ordered the fried chicken. When I got to the bone, the blood on the bones were red. Waiter said, oh that is just a vein. It's cooked. Yes, the meat was hot (thankfully) but I'm not expecting that kinda red on fully cooked chicken. They have a loaded potato salad, the waiter said it has broccoli in it. I was fine with that until I saw it. The broccoli was cooked and placed around the sides of the bowl. Not like a cold broccoli mixed in, which is what I was expecting. Brisket my co-worker had was not bad. Cheesy spoonbread was good. Cheeseburgers are on special on Mondays which I should have gotten instead of the fried chicken. Beers were ok. This review is only speaking to their brunch menu, as I'm sure lunch and dinner is much different. We went to brunch at noon on a Sunday and it seemed severely understaffed. It took so long between ordering drinks to actually get them, and we felt we had to flag people down to get any refills or to order. I ordered the bottomless mimosa, which is an okay deal at 28 dollars. However they come in the tiniest glass, and after two sips it's about empty. I absolutely did not get my moneys worth because the waitress was never around, which is very frustrating. The food was below mediocre. I got the breakfast tacos which was such a small portion and barely had a morsel of egg in them. You also only got two tacos which for 12 dollars is ridiculous. The chicken and waffles were gross, and the chicken came in nugget form, which was very odd. Recently came here for Sunday brunch and it was an amazing choice! Looking at the menu, we knew it would take us a while to decide because you can never go wrong with breakfast food! We asked the waitress for suggestions and she did not disappoint. We ordered the cinnamon sticky buns to start, followed by chicken and waffles and beef brisket burnt ends hash browns. Yup, they are as good as they sound!! With the chicken and waffles, it came with a bacon jalapeño honey syrup...amazing!! Everything was delicious! The build your own Bloody Mary bar is well worth it since they have everything you can think of to garnish! (Even a beer chaser...which I've mostly only seen in Wisconsin...but I still enjoy it!!). Visiting town for business and came here right after hopping off the plane. Being from Hawaii, there isn't much good bbq there so we gave this place a try. I got the lean brisket which was alright. Good portion and the sauces they have on the table were good, I had to try them all lol. My friend got the ribs that I had a piece of. They were amazing! I've been to their other location in River North for drinks, but this was my first time eating their food. I'm usually a bit critical of BBQ because I've had a lot that's not very good. I was willing to give Bub City a chance, but sadly I was disappointed with the BBQ. We ordered: Crispy BBQ Chicken - Nice crispy skin and the chicken was cooked well, but I didn't really like the flavor of the BBQ spices. BBQ Ribs - Again, not a fan of the flavor of the BBQ. Garlic Crab Fries - A great side dish! I loved the crab and old bay mayo. Mac & Cheese - Another great side dish. It was cheesy and gooey and the macaroni was perfectly cooked. Even though I didn't like the BBQ, I thought the side dishes were excellent. The service was good and it can accommodate large groups. Holy suburbs, Batman! Living in the city, I had absolutely no idea this whole area existed out here. I would have just gone to the River North Bub City, but they were advertising these awesome looking milkshakes only at the Rosemont location. They, of course, had me at milkshake. They come out in giant glass mugs with handles. The cookies n cream had oreos caked all the way around the side with some kind of cream. Probably enough calories for a small village in one of those puppies but mmmm was it good! Overall, I was pleasantly surprised with our meal. Bub City kind of feels like the country/western version of Bubba Gump's Shrimp, but the food was really solid though (two thumbs up for the chipotle mac n cheese) and it has a great atmosphere. If service was a little faster and the price point a little lower we would be talking five stars. Probably won't make it out to Rosemont again but I'll definitely be paying the River North one a visit sometime soon! read more

I'm being very generous with a 3 star review, it's a place I'll likely never try again. It's very pricey for the kind of food they have. It appears they are trying to emulate a Nashville Broadway BBQ joint and fall short in the food and service department. They got it close with the interior decor and setup. I ordered the ribs and wings combo. Ribs are comparable to what you'd expect at Chili's. Nothing to special about them. The wings were good for being smoked, although at a price of $16 for 6 wings is a far reach and definitely not worth it. If you spend $35 on the combo and ask for the Nashville sauce they will up charge you $1 for a sauce that is very oily and not great at all. They have a Memphis sauce that is very good though. Service was lackluster at best, the hostess did more than my waiter. read more

Great venue, very decorative, the place was not crowded since we went in the middle of the lunch and dinner rush. The food came out quickly, interesting and tasty drinks! She then realized we were in no rush and let us take our time to read over the menu. The reason the 3 stars is the sides that were added to our meals were all cold, the fries were super cold, and tatter tots. It would seem like something so simple to not really have come out cold nd just tasting very old but it was. Some of the worst sides at any restaurant. It ruined the experience a lot because with a burger that cost 15 bucks plus adding the buffalo tots to making it like a 20 dollar plus meal then drinks it just seemed like the food should come out a lot better. What a wonderful edition to the Rosemont entertainment district! The patio is decent sized, and there's also a rooftop!! It's not open yet, but please Bub City....open that rooftop! There was a private party going on up there during our visit, and you could tell they were having a ball. The menu is pretty similar(if not the same?) as the location downtown. No complaints there, all of the food is great! Shoutout to the Giddy Up fries for melting my heart and making me fall in love again every. damn. time! I've been to this location a couple of times and enjoyed it both times. The place is huuuuge and there are two bars, one on each side of the room. There is a stage in the back, where bands come to play live music during the weekends. I've experienced the live music the first time and enjoyed it very much. The food here is really good. I've tried the brisket/mac and cheese combo, the buffalo wings, the hot and sticky wings, the brisket nachos, the waffle fries, and the Chicago style ribs. All of them were really good and I'm fairly certain that the rest of their menu won't disappoint either. They have a nice selection of drinks and spirits. I've tried a bunch of their beers and also tried their Old Fashioned. The cool thing about their Old Fashioned is that it comes out of a tap. I don't think I've ever seen that before. The service was quite slow the first time, but it was fine the second time. The servers were informative about the menu and the order was always correct. They are always willing to split the check for big groups and never give us trouble for it. I would definitely come back to enjoy the food, drinks and the live music! read more

First of all, we took a local shuttle bus from our hotel having no real idea where we were going but had decided on this restaurant before hand. On our shuttle, joining our conversation, was an employee who is a cook at this new restaurant. His name is Derek and he actually showed us the back way and how to get to the restaurant! Above and beyond and a really cool guy- he even treated us to crab fries!! The crab fries were the best thing we had I would say overall the menu food we ordered was maybe a 4? Waitress Sarah Schultz, a 5!!! I wish I had tried some of the regular barbecue or ribs - next time! Nachos a bit too spicy (and I like spice!), Good sides, desserts etc. Huge selection of whiskeys on their menu, unusual good beers... Great atmosphere, especially if you love "country" like me.
