My partner and I were on a brief trip in NOLA recently, and I really had a craving for a smash burger. After searching for some top rated locations, we decided to try Bub's. One thing I liked about his place it was off the beaten path, out of the touristy area, and feels very local. If you're visiting NOLA, then you will need to uber or drive yourself to Bub's. The atmosphere is what a local burger place should feel like, and it has a bit of a throwback vibe with still functioning arcade games in the restaurant (that take quarters). The cashier/server was extremely friendly and helpful. I had the original Bub burger with fries, and my partner had the "Gouda, Woulda, Shoulda" burger the Brussell sprouts in sriracha and honey (which I tried and were delicious). The ambiance is like a neighborhood bar setting. I don't believe it's crazy but it has some find pinball and arcade games inside so that's kinda cool. I was kind of disappointed with my experience at Bubs. I had the impossible burger since I have eating restrictions. I didn't realize that to get tomatos or other things that normally come in an burger, you would have to ask and also pay extra for it - they didn't even mention or ask at the register for htem. Super cool burger joint! I don't crave a burger very often but when I do, I want a good ole smash burger, and Bub's was a good option. The patty was cooked well and the toppings were fresh. I love grilled onions but I wish they were diced and charred instead of sliced; they were a bit stringy. The brussel sprouts were good but for me, a bit too sugary and on the burnt side; I think if they were less sweet, less charred, and a bit more acidic they'd be great. I had the royale- which are two patties, bib lettuce, red onion, pickles and their homemade sauce. Everything was soo good- esp the pickles. I know right- the pickles! My hubby had the peanut bubber. I went to Bub's for lunch to get a Peanut Bubber. If you have never had a peanut butter burger, you should try one someday. The place is pretty cool with some old school posters and video games. The service is ok, since you just place your order and go sit down. You're on your own from that point. I ordered the Peanut Bubber, an order of fries, and a Diet Coke. My total was $23. It was good, got my peanut butter burger fix, but no way near worth 23 bucks. They have a happy hour T-F 2:00pm until 5 for a $5 classic burger. If I ever go back, I will go during that time. My son and I decided to check this spot out on a beautiful Nola day. We had previously gotten bubs before but hadn't been back in awhile. The banks location is so cute. They have the outdoor seating and then indoor seating as well. We ended up getting the bub burger and he got the microdose. You can't forget the fries! Both the burgers were delicious. The fries reminded me of McDonald's fries, but better. We sat outside, enjoyed our meal and the day. Service was great, food was great, we will be back! We love the food at Bub's! It is quality and simple. It is everything a burger should be and more. The patty is flattened thin and the cheese is classic American. They have a tangy/creamy Bub's sauce, pickles, and very thin sliced onions that are steamed. Fries and Onion Rings are super tasty. We have tried several of their specialty burgers. Same thing patty with some fun takes, like the Peanut Bubber. It is one of the best burgers in the region in a laid back joint run by great people. read more
