My friends and I decided to try out Katie's on a Friday afternoon. We made a reservation prior to coming, but the wait time was still very long; although, I do understand since it was a weekend. It was street parking only, so that was kind of a challenge. The service was nice. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The inside was very tight and small spaced.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]The decor was still nice. It gave off a mom & pop/home style aesthetic.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] We ordered the Crawfish Beignet ($20.00) as our appetizer. I got their Rosemary Chicken with a side of Potato Salad & Sweet Potato Fries ($22.00). My friends got their Shrimp Bucktown Alfredo ($24.00) & Swamp Fries with Debris Gravy ($13.00). The food was okay, in my opinion, but it was nothing too special for the price. My friend said the Alfredo was a bit salty. The chicken I had was good. I was a bit disappointed with the Crawfish Beignet because the texture was hard, as I had expected it to have a soft beignet-like texture to it. Overall, it's a decent spot, but a bit overpriced for the quality.

We had a great evening at Katie's. We started off with a drink and charbroiled oysters. They were amazing. Perfectly broiled with butter, cheese, garlic and delicious We also had the seafood stuff mushrooms which were great. The crawfish beignet a large portion. All perfect for sharing. Lastly the redfish topped with lump crabmeat and fresh vegetables. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Lively crowd of all ages.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] The only issue was that the restaurant did not have our reservation made with Yelp. But the greeter was so kind, asked it was with Yelp and she did say they are experiencing issues. She cleared a table and we were seated quickly. (I do have the yelp confirmation, btw). This was our 4th time there and very good to great each time.

Came in for a late lunch/early dinner based on Yelp. Had Crawfish beignet and Remmy stack. Crawfish beignet was okay, but the Remmy stack was fried green tomato heaven. The Delta Bayou pasta was huge! Our Boudreaux pizza was burnt on the bottom. Service was outstanding which kept this from being a 3 star review. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Loved all the local sports memorabilia.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]

Katie's dates back to the same year as the New Orleans World's Fair, a span of time I would wager is larger than the age of most readers here. The restaurant's tenure is not hard to understand. They serve a variety of items, as exemplified by the selections made by our party of four: A classic cheeseburger, pasta with shrimp, a chicken quesadilla, and a rack of ribs. If we had a 5th diner, he or she could have had pizza. (The Burger Eater in our party commented that she would never order a pizza from a place that offered so many other types of items, as side gig pizzas in her experience have always been mediocre.) To judge only by the popularity and appearance of pizzas emerging from the kitchen, the pizzas looked worthy of a return trip. Another remarkable aspect were the generous portions. All four of us took home leftovers. It's rare these days to be surprised by low prices or or larger than expected plates. Katie's is a pleasant double surprise on both fronts. The crab cake appetizer Is big enough to serve as a meal and delicious, accompanied by two sauces, one of which is a rémoulade. Bacon and blue cheese fries with garlic oil is as decadent as it sounds. Our experience was on Mother's Day, which is crazily popular time for this kind of restaurant. Despite having a reservation we had to wait about 45 minutes on the sidewalk, but that was pleasant enough as there was seating and lush plants all around. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Once inside, I checked in on Yelp and wavered between "loud" and "very loud" when asked about the atmosphere. Ultimately I chose "loud" because we could still carry a conversation at the table.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] I selected the ribs because other reviewers, notably some from Texas, called them out as the best in New Orleans. They are tender and come slathered with a sweet sticky sauce. I was glad I got the full rack to have some to take home, as the full Rack appears larger then twice the size the half racks emerging from the kitchen. As for "best," I'll reserve judgment; New Orleans now has a broad enough barbecue scene to satisfy a diverse range of taste. For those who like sweet wet ribs these are a sure bet. Service was pushed to the limit but still friendly and fairly prompt under the busy circumstances. Five stars, for consistently good food across four very different categories, all at reasonable prices.

We heard about Katie's from our great Lyft driver Troy. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The ambiance was cool casual. Tin ceilings with a chill vibe.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Wait staff was friendly, fast and attentive. We had a Caesar salad, cheesy toast with amazing red sauce gravy. Also a 1/2 rack of ribs, cole slaw and mashed potatoes and brown gravy. Everything was delicious. The ribs fell off the bone and the sauce was perfect. It was so good we came back the next day to eat the lasagna. It was so tasty. Love the sauce. This place is a must try. Enjoy!

The first time I came to NOLA, my friends and I came here twice on a 3 day weekend trip. The quality was amazing so we had to go back. Now I'm back in NOLA solo traveling and this was my first stop. I LOVE their oysters and it is a chill vibe inside. The service is good. It's a classic restaurant that is perfect for the family. The location is small but very popular so go when it isn't peak time! It's a NOLA staple.

    The inside of the restaurant

Ordered the creamy catfish Alfredo pasta. I had never had catfish before and it was amazing. It was perfectly tender, and the pasta was amazingly creamy. It was also topped with cooked spinach and tomato. Definitely the best alfredo pasta I have had. [[HIGHLIGHT]]inside of the restaurant was very beautiful, it looked like it came straight out of the 1920s.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Service was quick and friendly. Overall made my trip to New Orleans a tasty one!

Fiance and I came here for a late lunch after exploring City Park, and absolutely loved our experience here! Our Lyft dropped us off, and this place looked PACKED! I was nervous that we'd be waiting awhile, as some parties were seated on benches out front, so we walked in to assess what the wait time might be. To our surprise, there were a few seats open at the bar, so we squeezed in and started with some strong margaritas! Probably one of the best during our NOLA trip! We also had the charbroiled oysters which were on their happy hour specials so that was nice! They were soooo delicious!!! We both chose the Redfish which was perfectly seasoned and perfectly cooked! The summer squash it came with was also tasty! Despite them being slammed with guests (always a good indicator that the food is gonna be good!!!) we still had wonderful service. Happy we came here!!!

    Dressed Grill Shrimp Po Boy

I finally got around to dining at Katie's while in town this week. After visiting NOMA that morning it was lunch time and Katie's is nearby. Not walking distance but a short streetcar ride away. It was busy at 12:30 pm when I arrived and there was a line waiting for a table but a few seats open at the bar which I took advantage of. My order was for a dressed grilled shrimp po boy for $18 and then to further sample the menu I added a bowl of chicken and andouille sausage gumbo for $9.50. I asked for the gumbo to arrive first and it did. The roux was dark chocolate with a mound of white rice on top. It was rich, flavorful and simply delicious. Perfect (5)!. That sausage was excellent too. The po boy arrived just after finishing the gumbo. It was on Gendusa bread which is soft and not crunchy. The shrimp were seasoned and with the lettuce, tomato and pickle tasted very good (4). I liked it and would be glad to order any po boy here. Finally the bar tender was warm and friendly waiting on me. By the way, Katie's charges extra if you use your credit card. It's called Dual Price on your ticket. I don't like that. This was a very good meal and I would be happy to return anytime.

We had a fantastic dining experience at Katie's on our last night in New Orleans! We were actually sent here by the tellers at Chase Bank when we asked where the locals go for great food that isn't a tourist spot, and we're so glad we took their recommendation. Our waitress, Deseree, was wonderful--friendly, attentive, and a big part of what made our evening so enjoyable. We started with the eggplant fries, which were absolutely delicious. My son enjoyed the pasta and chicken, my husband had the ribs, and my dad and I shared a pizza. Every dish was flavorful, cooked perfectly, and served in generous portions. [[HIGHLIGHT]]From the moment we walked in, we loved the atmosphere. The ambiance was charming and full of authentic New Orleans character, creating the perfect setting for a memorable evening.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] We even brought home the vanilla bread pudding to enjoy later because we couldn't pass it up! From the excellent food to the outstanding service, everything exceeded our expectations. Thank you, Deseree, for making our final evening in New Orleans such a memorable one. We highly recommend Katie's to anyone looking for authentic local dining, delicious food, and exceptional service!

We stopped by here since it was in the neighborhood of our Airbnb and had good reviews. We were walk-ins on a Saturday during lunchtime and only had a 20-minute wait to be seated. We were placed at a 2-seat low top right near the bathroom entrance. Our appetizer was six charbroiled oysters, small but perfectly cooked. My son and I both enjoyed the seafood entrees: Delta Queen pasta and Shrimp Bucktown Alfredo. Both were delicious and plentiful, but did not come with any sides, such as a salad. The atmosphere is odd since it is a bar/restaurant based in an old neighborhood. Silverware wrapped in paper napkins and plastic cups for soda. TVs, a disco ball, and linoleum floors give the sports bar vibe. Service was okay, but our male server seemed distracted and wanted to be somewhere else. The food was excellent, but everything else was less than desirable. With our lunch being just south of $100 without alcoholic drinks, we would probably not return.

[[HIGHLIGHT]]This place gets busy! Located within a neighborhood so parking will be slim if you're not there early.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]We were seated upstairs where the fans were blowing and the A/C was kicking. Normally that'd be fine but it's March and we all could've used a jacket.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]Two different vibes between the two floors. I would have rather been seated downstairs.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] We were disappointed to know that after we ordered crawfish beignets, the waitress returned to inform us they were out. The food was good.

I don't get the hype, tbh. The hostess stand is right by the door which causes a crowded waiting area with people waiting and people in line trying to get on the waiting list. They opened their back patio, which we didn't see, but I'm assuming this place is huge. They also have some tables outside on the sidewalk but weren't sitting people there. Service was nice and attentive. We had some dirty dishes served to us but was quickly replaced. The crawfish beignet was okay. It was dressing on top of a beignet which I expected like a stuffed beignet with crawfish. Oysters were alright. A lot of them had shell pieces that I had to spit out when downing eating the actual oyster. The cajun alfredo shrimp pasta was yummy, not as spicy as I thought it would be. In my experience, I felt like the food was mediocre for the wait and hype. Maybe we ordered the wrong thing? Idk, but it was a good try and they definitely are popular. They offer plenty of options too. It's a great place and I would come again, but I wouldn't wait over 30 min for it.
