    The Carlino Burger

This place only really came on our radar when we started going to the new Trader Joe's. They had a very interesting menu so we decided to give it a try. Walked right in and was greeted and seated immediately. It's very intimate on the inside, it's got a long skinny bar with seating surrounding it. Started with their old "pho"shioned. I love an old fashioned and am fond of pho so figured couldn't lose. It was good and the flavors really blended well. Ordered the burger it had like a Big Mac flavor vibe, but with crispy loose meat. Also, ordered the lil salad it was light and refreshing not heavy on the dressing.

When I first heard saw the sinage of Hot & Soul I assumed it would be a soul food restaurant. The menu is all over the place. There's American cuisine, filipino, along with Indian dishes. I went for happy hour. I had a the daily cocktail which was a Cuba libre daiquiri and saag paneer. Saag Paneer is creamed spinach topped with paneer (India cheese). The paneer looked like miniature, grilled toast. I didnt care for it. Overall the spinach was really tasty. It had a nice crunch to it with the onions. The staff was friendly. The bartender was so nice to have shot o'clock. I wasn't expecting it. But that made my Friday even better!!! I'm looking forward to trying an entry on my next visit.

We always see this place when we go on our weekly Trader Joe's run, so we decided to stop in. We were greeted warmly and seated right away. I decided to get the Floribbean Fish Chowder (small size) and a side of Crystal H's potatoes. The chowder is amazing! Some places have chowder on the menu and it's really brothy with little in it, but this one is full of deliciousness. It has tons of drum fish, potato and veggies in a spiced tomato broth. The small was large enough for me. The potatoes were great as well, crispy on the outside and fluffy and soft on the inside with a tasty dipping sauce. Can't wait to go back!

I can't believe I live, like, seven houses away from Hot and Soul and it took me this long to try it. My work roommate and I went for lunch couple of weeks ago and followed up tonight for "Haffy Hour." Everything we had was stellar: Manchego Tortilla, Veggie Curry, TJ Dog, and oh my God, the Patatas Bravas! Maybe the best potatoes I've had since the Nonna-roasted ones I had in Tuscany. Everyone who works there is super friendly. The bartender is so invested in the place I thought she was an owner, but she's not. The real owner told my vegan-GF friend he'd modify just about anything for her. This little venue has struggled since Fharmacy Nola folded a few years ago, but Hot & Soul deserves to make it, and I'm gonna do my part to keep them going. You should to.

Yes yes yes! So happy to have Hot and Soul in the neighborhood. The food and drinks are on an upper scale level, but the atmosphere is friendly and casual. We were in shorts and T-shirts and were comfortable which is perfect for us who prefer to walk to places. They had some really interesting cocktails to choose from, after discussing it with the bartender/server I decided to go with the beet and dill vodka cocktail, I don't remember the name but I really enjoyed it, it was something very different for a change and also a beautiful presentation. Food wise we ordered the Carlino loose meat burger and the TJ dog. We split them to be able to try each and both were delicious. We would probably order the same again but I see other things on the menu worth a shot the next visit. Do not miss out on the vegan chocolate cake, it was the perfect ending to a delicious meal. Can't wait to go back and try more. Welcome to the neighborhood Hot and Soul.

Great drinks, great food and wonderful service.

The food, drinks, and service are great. Thanks Mike for making our first visit memorable. We will be back.

Stored on for an early lunch after shopping at the adjacent Trader Joe's and so happy that we did! We enjoyed their gumbo, which was seasoned to perfection and full of various meats, as well as their Carlino burger that was also delicious, nice and crispy. Service was fast and attentive, and the ambiance has a pleasant vibe.

My family and I came here to celebrate my birthday and we had the best time!…read more To start, we ordered drinks all around: Autumn Espresso Martini flight, Autumn Mule, Pumpkin Spice White Russian, and a Spiced Brown Old Fashioned! The espresso flight included pumpkin spice, toasted marshmallow, and cinnamon and all were DELICIOUS! They were full sized and very reasonably priced. The Pumpkin Spice White Russian was a bit of a miss, but our waiter was very accommodating. For starters, we got the Seafood Dip and Zydeco Egg rolls. We knew after these arrived that this would be a new favorite spot. The seafood in both dishes was plentiful and we could not get enough of both dishes. For entrees, the table has the Skirt Steak, Bayou Mac and Cheese, Hot Honey Pepperoni Pinsa, Shrimp and Crawfish Gouda Grits, and Cajun Pasta. We were sharing with one another and did not find anything we didn't like. We decided the pizza was our favorite. The crust was perfect! For dessert, we had the Biscoff Bread Pudding and Blueberry Crumble Cheesecake. The bread pudding was so well done. It wasn't too sweet and the strawberries were perfect! The vibes were super cool with the moody lighting and table lamp. The art was very sleek and modern. We had a great waiter who gave us recommendations, checked in on us often, and was overall very accommodating. One of the best parts, is that for all of our meal we paid a very reasonable price for a quality that was super high. I couldn't recommend this place more!!!

Called earlier in the day for reservations for 7 and they…read moresaid they did not take same day reservations but place should not be bad at 6pm and we should be seated fairly quickly. We arrived at 5:40pm and told them 7 people and were told about 40 minutes so we sat at the bar and grabbed a few drinks, waited about 40 minutes are were seated.. perfect timing. Now this is where things start to fall apart.. we sat and waited about 5 minutes for someone to show up and take drink orders and I thought should put in appetizers just in case it takes them awhile to return. A few drinks stumbled out and then appetizers came and the a few minutes later more of the drinks.. weird. Finally we ordered our entrees and while waiting finished our appetizers and then no one came and cleared the table, water was empty, drinks were low appetizer plates and appetizers vessels still on table. And wait for it... here come the entrees.. and they are placing them around an already full table.. was there no dishwashers so they didn't want to take plates back to be washed??? I put about 4 plates where my entree should have gone and they pushed the entree plate next to it and I had to ask them o remove the other plates. I feel like this is too long already.. the food? Tasted odd like it had an odd flavor I ordered the Truffle Butter Steak and it was about the size of my hand and cut in strips with onions rings on top and a small bowl of fries... for $35.00. My stunning wife orders the Shrimp fried rice and she was not impressed I tasted it and it was mushy with small shrimp. Oh I liked the bacon wrapped shrimp appetizer that is the reason for the two stars. Bill came and I paid for seven of us and looked the bill and it was $381.00 with drinks no one told me the gratuity was one there already and stupid me did not look and gave them another $80.00 on top of the $60.00 on the bill yep $140.00 for horrible service.. and okay food. If you all read my reviews I honestly try to be fair and hope people have off days.. I am regretting having spent nearly $500.00 on this night

Last night I ordered the salmon salad and OH MY GOD - that may have been the most delicious salmon filet I've ever had. It was perfectly seasoned and cooked to my preference. I usually order the tuna salad, which is also excellent. Last night I made a couple modifications to my salad (no candied pecans and no sugarcane vinaigrette), but when I received my plate I noticed the fresh berries and cheese were also missing. I mentioned it to my waitress and she immediately acted to fix it. I had my plate back in maybe two minutes. Things like that sort of go with the territory when you start requesting modifications, so I didn't blame her at all. Will be back. Always!

Service was a little slow but not terrible. Kids had grilled cheese and chicken tenders. GC was full of cheese and was on Texas toast. It was good. One adult had the regular burger and he really liked it. GF had casual cow burger and she said it was okay but her fries were cold. Another adult had the grilled salad and it wasn't a hit. Draft beer was cold. Wednesdays are wing night, 20 for $25, and I saw a patron with wings and they looked delicious. I will definitely go back for wing night.

You get delicious notes of curry, lemon mascarpone, tomato sauce and it's not super acidic. *Cheesecake: Surprise sweet ending! Good thing I saved room for this soft, fluffy, and decadent dessert with strawberry topping. All of the flavors in each dish meshed perfectly together without any overpowering. It's a super cool, modern atmosphere with a very comfortable yet /modern feel. On this trip, we had the Charred Artichoke, which came out with perfect char yet tender hearts. Tasty with an onion/garlicky cream sauce. We had two show stoppers...1. Crispy Cauliflower is in a green-onion/chili-oil/harissa-type red slather. Sooooo good! Then, the VERY BEST 2. Avocado Panzanella: the best I've ever had in America and my best panzanella period! That says a lot as I LOVE them in restaurants globally, including Southern Tuscany/the Isle of Sicily. It's an avocado lover's dream, with plenty of this star ingredient of many chunks of avocado(zero skipping here!), crunchy bread pieces, sun-dried tomatoes, etc., in a creamy, slightly hot honey vinaigrette (I believe). There is a Bay Scallop Aracini we have to try next time. It sounds Great! I LOVE a Bolognese because it takes 12-16 hours to cook/smolder/meld. The Bower takes such time & it's very apparent they care to smother it with plenty of porky and beefy goodness. Amazing entree‼ Lastly, our dessert was a Dark Chocolate-type tort. Not sure if it's "flourless," so I don't want to say that in case you're on a flourless diet. But, if you can, it's fantastic. Thankfully... Not too sweet at all. It's perfect, and I'm not even a typical chocolate person. Pls geaux...youll be very satiated!!!
