    The Carlino Burger

This place only really came on our radar when we started going to the new Trader Joe's. They had a very interesting menu so we decided to give it a try. Walked right in and was greeted and seated immediately. It's very intimate on the inside, it's got a long skinny bar with seating surrounding it. Started with their old "pho"shioned. I love an old fashioned and am fond of pho so figured couldn't lose. It was good and the flavors really blended well. Ordered the burger it had like a Big Mac flavor vibe, but with crispy loose meat. Also, ordered the lil salad it was light and refreshing not heavy on the dressing.

When I first heard saw the sinage of Hot & Soul I assumed it would be a soul food restaurant. The menu is all over the place. There's American cuisine, filipino, along with Indian dishes. I went for happy hour. I had a the daily cocktail which was a Cuba libre daiquiri and saag paneer. Saag Paneer is creamed spinach topped with paneer (India cheese). The paneer looked like miniature, grilled toast. I didnt care for it. Overall the spinach was really tasty. It had a nice crunch to it with the onions. The staff was friendly. The bartender was so nice to have shot o'clock. I wasn't expecting it. But that made my Friday even better!!! I'm looking forward to trying an entry on my next visit.

We always see this place when we go on our weekly Trader Joe's run, so we decided to stop in. We were greeted warmly and seated right away. I decided to get the Floribbean Fish Chowder (small size) and a side of Crystal H's potatoes. The chowder is amazing! Some places have chowder on the menu and it's really brothy with little in it, but this one is full of deliciousness. It has tons of drum fish, potato and veggies in a spiced tomato broth. The small was large enough for me. The potatoes were great as well, crispy on the outside and fluffy and soft on the inside with a tasty dipping sauce. Can't wait to go back!

I can't believe I live, like, seven houses away from Hot and Soul and it took me this long to try it. My work roommate and I went for lunch couple of weeks ago and followed up tonight for "Haffy Hour." Everything we had was stellar: Manchego Tortilla, Veggie Curry, TJ Dog, and oh my God, the Patatas Bravas! Maybe the best potatoes I've had since the Nonna-roasted ones I had in Tuscany. Everyone who works there is super friendly. The bartender is so invested in the place I thought she was an owner, but she's not. The real owner told my vegan-GF friend he'd modify just about anything for her. This little venue has struggled since Fharmacy Nola folded a few years ago, but Hot & Soul deserves to make it, and I'm gonna do my part to keep them going. You should to.

Great drinks, great food and wonderful service.

The food, drinks, and service are great. Thanks Mike for making our first visit memorable. We will be back.

Yes yes yes! So happy to have Hot and Soul in the neighborhood. The food and drinks are on an upper scale level, but the atmosphere is friendly and casual. We were in shorts and T-shirts and were comfortable which is perfect for us who prefer to walk to places. They had some really interesting cocktails to choose from, after discussing it with the bartender/server I decided to go with the beet and dill vodka cocktail, I don't remember the name but I really enjoyed it, it was something very different for a change and also a beautiful presentation. Food wise we ordered the Carlino loose meat burger and the TJ dog. We split them to be able to try each and both were delicious. We would probably order the same again but I see other things on the menu worth a shot the next visit. Do not miss out on the vegan chocolate cake, it was the perfect ending to a delicious meal. Can't wait to go back and try more. Welcome to the neighborhood Hot and Soul.

Stored on for an early lunch after shopping at the adjacent Trader Joe's and so happy that we did! We enjoyed their gumbo, which was seasoned to perfection and full of various meats, as well as their Carlino burger that was also delicious, nice and crispy. Service was fast and attentive, and the ambiance has a pleasant vibe.

You could tell that they were quite short-staffed. I felt sorry for the servers, as they were moving nonstop. It took a while for the waiter to get our order, and then to get the check to us. Their staffing situation needs to be fixed, and pronto. It really detracted from the experience. We had several appetizers. The bacon wrapped shrimp were presented in an entertaining way, hanging on a rack. They were delicious. The zydeco eggrolls were probably my favorite thing the whole night, excellent excellent excellent. I had a cheeseburger. It was a decent, but a bit too heavy on the salt. My date had the hot honey pepperoni pinsa; I tried a bit, it was great. The other couple dining with us had shrimp and grits, and the catfish. They enjoyed their dishes, complementing the food well, no complaints. All in all, a good meal. Just please fix your staffing situation, Lumora.

And then I realized the "new" Delachaise is like a decade old! This birthday... let's say it hit hard with this realization that you can think something is new when it's actually ten years old. I love this Maple Street location of Delachaise. A longtime fan of the St. Charles location (13 years, in fact), I appreciate that this spot has full table service while the OG is order at the bar. It is also larger, sparkling and sharp. Both feel a little Parisian, just in wholly different ways. And I like the ambiance of both. Behold that cocktail menu! So many unique drinks and similar to the other Delachaise, expect to be impressed with the wines by the glass. I always appreciate a good glass of Sangiovese. I haven't checked out the food menu in a while at St. Charles, but I never seemed to be able to find anything vegan. There's vegan Buffalo cauliflower here, which I'll have to try next time. We ordered olives but they weren't really to my liking (cold, tasting strongly of vinegar rather than herbs and too many of the tiny black ones taking up space. I love Castelvetrano olives and there weren't any in the serving). Service is just so so nice. Really perfect. Can't wait to come back for more wine and an evening on the patio.

The deviled eggs were basically hard boiled eggs (the yolk wasn't really seasoned with anything and looked like they'd been sitting in the fridge for a bit before serving). But the mussels were delicious and the ribeye (beware: IT'S HUGE!) and the sliders were very flavorful. They even brought our warm baguette for me to dip into the mussels sauce after I'd finished them. The service was 10/10...super friendly, attentive and helpful. And the space was nice with both indoor and outdoor seating. Very cute and bistro-like.

You get delicious notes of curry, lemon mascarpone, tomato sauce and it's not super acidic. *Cheesecake: Surprise sweet ending! Good thing I saved room for this soft, fluffy, and decadent dessert with strawberry topping. All of the flavors in each dish meshed perfectly together without any overpowering. It's a super cool, modern atmosphere with a very comfortable yet /modern feel. On this trip, we had the Charred Artichoke, which came out with perfect char yet tender hearts. Tasty with an onion/garlicky cream sauce. We had two show stoppers...1. Crispy Cauliflower is in a green-onion/chili-oil/harissa-type red slather. Sooooo good! Then, the VERY BEST 2. Avocado Panzanella: the best I've ever had in America and my best panzanella period! That says a lot as I LOVE them in restaurants globally, including Southern Tuscany/the Isle of Sicily. It's an avocado lover's dream, with plenty of this star ingredient of many chunks of avocado(zero skipping here!), crunchy bread pieces, sun-dried tomatoes, etc., in a creamy, slightly hot honey vinaigrette (I believe). There is a Bay Scallop Aracini we have to try next time. It sounds Great! I LOVE a Bolognese because it takes 12-16 hours to cook/smolder/meld. The Bower takes such time & it's very apparent they care to smother it with plenty of porky and beefy goodness. Amazing entree‼ Lastly, our dessert was a Dark Chocolate-type tort. Not sure if it's "flourless," so I don't want to say that in case you're on a flourless diet. But, if you can, it's fantastic. Thankfully... Not too sweet at all. It's perfect, and I'm not even a typical chocolate person. Pls geaux...youll be very satiated!!!
