I had probably the very best experience at this Bubba Gump today for early dinner. Early dinner means 5pm. The atmosphere was perfect because it wasn't packed, staff didn't looked overworked or tired, it wasn't loud. I was actually able to hear my table's conversation. Our waitress, Monica, was awesome and made our dining experience amazing. She was fun and was so on top of everything. She did Forrest Gump trivia between three tables while we all waited for our food and I didn't realize how many times I've seen that movie because I pretty much knew all the answers, some were harder than others. Monica also brought us refills before we realized we even needed them, which was really nice to be able to receive service like that. I ordered Jenny's salmon and shrimp with no rice but added a side salad and as always, it's a lot of food, but the salmon and shrimp were so good. Next time I'd get the butter on the side. The broccoli was steamed to perfection and I was only able to eat a few bites of my side salad. My teen didn't love her chicken sandwich, but she's pretty picky. She has yet to find something here that she really likes. My husband is a vegetarian and got spaghetti with marinara and he said it was really good. It was nice that they were able to accommodate him. As always, their garlic bread loaves are top tier and we got a few of those. They really are that good. Yeah I didn't like the food here. Almost everything I tasted wasn't good. The calamari wasn't hittin. I've had way better. The shrimp and crab sandwiches didn't even fill up the sandwich. It was just full of mayo. Almost tasted like a tuna sandwich. There was barely any shrimp or crab. So nasty. Fries got cold quick. The fried pickles was salty AF!!! The only thing was good was their ceviche. The Jennie's drink was koo but the one that tasted like AMF tasted virgin. The service and experience is amazing and I love coming here for the theme of the restaurant. But the pasta I got was very very greasy. The chicken,pasta, and bread were good but after I was almost done eating it all there was a lot of grease. I think there was more grease on my plate than a large pizza. Again, we waited for a table right at the edge with a gorgeous ocean view. Our server was great .... no complaints there! The view was to die for. It just doesn't get better than this location. There is semi-outside seating and inside seating. Take your pick as it is all good. The menu is mainly about seafood but there are a few options for those that aren't seafood fanatics. One of my favorite restaurant spots! Came in and didn't have to wait long at all. At first I was seated at a booth but it was super tight since there was a pole and it looked like the seat row was longer than the table! Soon after I was moved to a window view and it was perfect. I got the seafood feast and the garlic bread appetizer. Also the ribeye was phenomenal with the mashed potatoes and the side of gumbo was the perfect spice. Well I finally had a chance to visit Bubba gumps! We only did drinks and appetizers so I went with the appetizer sampler. I thought everything on it was pretty good but the sauces that it came with were the stars of the show. We had a really nice table near the window that looked out to the ocean which was the best part to me. Our server was excellent made sure we had what we needed. This was my second time to this Bubba Gump's in Monterey. I went with a group of six and they were able to accommodate seating fairly quickly so there was a long wait. I had the jambalaya minus the shrimp which I'm allergic to and they are able to Substitute that out which I appreciated. The menu of course is fish and shrimp with some other options chicken steak, etc. a lot of people were getting the drinks which looked pretty tasty if you're looking for a fun place just to go grab a bite in Monterey. The service and overall staff was very kind and engaging, playing off of lines from the movie "Forrest Gump" during my roommate's and I's first interaction with them when we were getting seated at this restaurant. Adding onto this, the food was reasonably priced (for being in Cannery Row, in my opinion) and was also quite delicious. I loved the clam chowder, it felt thick enough and also flavorful enough to the point of enjoyment, but not too rich to the point of being sickly, a lovely meal! And, to add onto these two pluses, my roommates and I were seated right next to the ocean view, so the seagulls and waves splashing around us at near peak golden hour was a cherry on top type of experience. We had lunch July 5, the end of what had to be a very busy couple of days for the people who serve those great shrimp! Our overall experience was really nice. From the outside greeters to almost every waiter and service person we walked by going in and coming out, we were wished a good day, greeted with a smile, and given a happy vibe. What a nice atmosphere...just what you want when you are spending time with your loved ones over some really fun and tasty food. My compliments to the manager...you have done well building and training your staff. But I want to particularly single out our waitress, Kassidy. She is a lovely person, inside and out. Her smile is contagious, her energy seemed boundless, and she just added to the overall good time that we had for the visit. And we required more than the usual amount of help because we had a pretty diverse seating...including a dog! It's a chain but it's honestly so good & popular for a reason! I like how almost any seat offers a great view, and the theme is a fun experience. My tip is I usually ask if I can wait longer for a seat with an ocean view, if there's not one readily available. I usually get pasta and my boyfriend gets the fish and chips. I think the prices are around the same price as any other place in Monterey, and the food is super good. I believe they have an offer for military as well. read more

After leaving Monterey Bay Aquarium, my girlfriend, our daughter, and I stopped by Bubba Gump Shrimp Co. hoping for a nice lunch. We had never been before and honestly expected much better. We were seated fairly quickly, but once we sat down, we were completely ignored. No greeting, no water, no drinks -- nothing. We were a small party at an island table, and servers walked past us over and over again while attending to every other table around us. What really pushed us to leave was watching a family of 5-6 people get seated after us and immediately get service. That was the final straw. Being hungry, tired after the aquarium, and feeling invisible as customers was incredibly frustrating. We ended up getting up and leaving without ever being acknowledged. For a restaurant in such a popular tourist spot, this level of service was extremely disappointing. First impression was bad enough that we won't be coming back. read more

All of your food tasted really good. I had the shrimp salad and the shrimps were cooked well and very big. My husband ordered the crab sandwich and I had a bite and it was very tasty and had great flavor. We also got the side of gumbo in a cup and it had a lot of flavor and a really good kick to it. They had excellent service. We sat at the bar so that way we can skip the line. I like that they have a sign that you can turn from Blue to red to show a few are ready for service or not. The moment we flipped it, we had a server right away there to help us out. I've always loved this place and I will definitely come back again.
