I spotted several T-shirts at 40% to 60% off. They had a wide selection; my folks love the restaurant and the Forest Gump movie, making this an easy win for me. Bubba Gump's merchandise is usually good quality. Besides, vendors selling rubber-printed designs that flake off or crack with a few washes have ripped me off. I didn't feel like waiting for a table closer to the window. I ordered a Bloody Mary that came with celery and a fresh shrimp. The meal was the Shrimp Po Boy with French fries. The shrimp was deep fried and very tasty. The bar area is small for a big restaurant like this about six seats and a small bar area for seating 2-4 people. A true classic...I have been here multiple times but never have written a review. My mom and I stopped by to have dinner on Thursday and it was perfect. No crowds, parking was an ease since there was plenty of street parking in front. I know that's not always the case, especially on weekends when it would be a miracle to find anything nearby but on a cold, winter, weekday, no issue. We were seated quickly with no wait. I got the Shrimp Mac and Cheese and my mom got the cheeseburger. Our food came out fast and it tasted good. We got great seating and had perfect views of the ocean and then later the sunset. Service was perfect....KUDOS to Monica, our server. She was really hustling......her section was filling up quickly but she was moving with such a quickness that she made it look so easy. Must go to once in your life if you're a Forrest Gump fan. Place is all decked out in quotes related to the movie. There's a cute bench out front for photo ops. It's been awhile since I visited so I wanted to revisit while I was in town. The calamari is mixed with fried peppers as well so you don't get much calamari! Jambalaya was probably the best thing we ordered because it had a nice kick to it and flavorful. Then fish part of the fish & chips was huge! It was crispy but got soggy quick. A Monterey favorite! Right next to the beach overlooking the view. We went on a random Wednesday afternoon, so we were able to miss the heavy crowds. We got a seat next to the window giving us a fantastic view. If you're looking for a great sit down vibe right in the heart of Monterey, this is your stop. I came here with my colleagues after our retreat. For someone that doesn't eat seafood, I enjoyed the restaurant. Went here for my daughter's 21st birthday lunch. We got right in with no wait on a Monday afternoon. Great view of the ocean. The food and service were outstanding. I got the salmon and rice and my daughter got the po'boy sandwich. We also had calamari as an appetizer. My salmon was cooked perfect and had a great tasting bourbon sauce. We went on a Sunday and called to make reservations while at the aquarium. They gave us a time and as soon as we got there, they sat us right away. It was around 12:15pm. It was not packed and service was pretty fast. Its safe to say we ordered a little bit of everything. The calamari was really good and cane with two different types of sauce. I tried both and were very good. One was like a tartar sauce and the other a marinara sauce. I ordered a cup of clam chowder for 7.99, my husband the bowl for 17.99. I really felt like the cup was not enough at all. We also got some Cajun shrimp catch which was delicious with their garlic bread, a pizza kids meal for my daugther with fries and a drink and 3drinks. Paid about 110 total. We visited tonight. Figured we would get some affordable yet edible food for our last night in monterey. We visit monterey quite often as we are professional scuba divers. The wife asked for calamari which i would have immediately opposed to as I'm partial to high quality calamari as you would find in Osteria Al Mare or Old fisherman's Grotto. Fisherman's Grotto holds superiority i fresh fish and clam chouder, and customer service undoubtedly 10 stars, and a head to head fight for 11 stars with Osteria. When this previously frozen, overly dried and burnt and dehydrated charcoal came to our table i was shocked, each piece of dry detritus fell apart between my fingers. I asked who had ordered this garbage, it turned out that my wife did. As disappointed as i was I accepted it, yet i was saddened that our hard earned dollars were spent in this poor excuse for calories. Suddenly we found ourselves changing our minds about eating out, and decided to take the rest of the order home. The wife ordered a "boil" wich she enjoyed. I did not taste it but based on everything else i place no confidence on that option . I ordered a simple cheese burger and fries to go. When i got to the hotel 5 minutes later, the greasy cold previously frozen fries where not only flacid and tasteless but rubbery in texture. I found these to be the perfect match for the previously frozen and left over yogurt lid formed burger, and 11 week old cheese that came on the bacon cheese burger. As much as i feel burger king is garbage, burger king has a 100% superior bacon cheese burger. No flavor, no proper sauce to hide the frozen taste. No way to salvage this garbage. I would have rather spent a quarter of the price for a taco bell soft taco, even if it's made out of questionable proteins, at least it's priced accordingly. At least i know ahead of time that I'm paying for stomach cramps and diarrhea. For this price, the patty should never ever be frozen. I didn't expect the poor excuse for a basement hospital lunch room cafeteria food, and the attitude spewing manager to be my vacation experience but at least she removed everything but the boil from the bill. She said that we now owed $50 something. She literally hung up on me while she adjusted the boiled frozen food price. Like she was doing me a favor for not charging me for complete garbage. I just looked this up, and the boil is supposed to be $39. Which i don't agree with since i could do a hell of a better combination of proteins for a lot less. But i won't argue, since the wife enjoyed it. Either way, this restaurant takes advantage of people by exploiting an amazing location, old and irrelevant movie details and buzz words to push the cheapest of ingredients. Less money, and more quality go to mission 19. Same money but leaps and bound better go to Osteria al Mare or fisherman's Grotto. That's some actual quality. For fresh fish and again great quality go to Sea Harvest Restaurant. Don't mess around with stupid chains. read more

Our food was great I was pleasantly surprised with the Cajun shrimp half a pound comes with a good amount of shrimp it was delicious honestly really good best thing I've had to eat here so far the calamari was ok I think it's a little weird they add peppers with the calamari but I wasn't mad at it. I would give 4 stars for ambience, 5 for service and 3 for food. This Bubba Gump is only about a block from the Monterey Bay Aquarium so is convenient for a meal after a visit. There is a very nice view of the Bay. They are dog friendly and our server Pauline brought our dog a nice bowl of water. Much appreciated She also took a picture of our family group. For all that she gets 5 stars. I generally don't expect too much from a theme restaurant but the food was okay. My grilled shrimp were a little over cooked and dry but not seriously.
