Until a recent somewhat accidental visit to Bubbakoo's Burritos, the only thing I knew about them was what I'd seen in reviews. So it happened that one Saturday afternoon we were driving long the Gene Snyder, needed lunch, and saw the Bubbakoo's sign on the side of the road. A few exclamation points later (Me: OOHH! Wifey: WHAT??! Me: Bubbakoo's! I've been wanting to try them!! Wifey: What kind of food is it? Me: BURRITOS!!! Wifey: Let's go!!!!) and we were walking in the door. Bubbakoo's is similar to a number of Mexican fast-casuals in that you add your ingredients as your food is prepared. Think Moe's or QDoba or Chipotle and you get the idea...but with a larger variety of items to choose from. Being a Saturday afternoon the place was pretty quiet. We were perusing the menu when a gentleman (who turned out to be one of the owners) came out behind the counter to greet us. We told him this was our first visit and he offered to help guide us. At one point he went back behind the counter and gave us samples of a few things to help us make our decisions. (Fair warning: One of the sauces he had me sample is hot. And by "hot" I mean "HOT". And by "HOT" I mean "H A W T ! ! That heat stayed with me for probably over an hour) After we got out food and were sitting down Owner Guy (whose name we never got) came to check on us. We told him everything was EXCELLENT and that I loved the variety of food items he offered. He offered use some deep fried cauliflower and it was outstanding! He brought us some Love Chips (which sounds almost dirty) as a dessert item with 3 different sauces and they were amazingly awesome as well. Throughout the remainder of our visit Owner Guy visited to chat and check how things were. He was very pleasant and wanted to make sure things were great (They were!). The rest of the staff was busy stocking the line and making sure the place was clean and tidy. I'm glad we finally got to visit Bubbakoo's. While I had no expectations, it was an excellent experience and one I look forward to visiting again.

I stopped in here on a Sunday afternoon around 1 o'clock to partake in this new establishment for me. I was greeted when I walked in and asked what I would like. I got a Nashville hot chicken burrito. It contained white rice, chicken, Nashville style and pickles. I did not really enjoy it much at all. Unfortunately it was around $10 I'd not finish it so usually if I don't finish something up by then it's not getting more than two. oh I unfortunately will not be back. I will say the ambience was nice and it didn't look good in there.

My wife and I were driving down to the bourbon trail and stopped here on the way for lunch. We had never eaten here before and decided to give it a try. I am glad we did. This is like a Chipotle where you choose what you want on your burrito or quesadilla. I added the teriyaki sauce to mine at the end. The quesadilla was huge and had a nice crispness. This was the best I had ever eaten! My quesadilla could have been for two meals, but I couldn't stop eating it. You have got to try this place if you want a great meal with large portions! HIGHLY RECOMMEND THIS PLACE.

Brand new establishment that the family and I happened to walk in on during opening night. The setup is a Qdoba, Moe's type setup where it is hex mex setup where you order and they prepare in front of you (or you could say a tex mex subway). For opening night the staff did great. They were buzzing around and seemed well trained. Experienced no hiccups and they processed the long lines quickly. I personally got the chicken quesadilla which was pretty good. Nothing spectacular but still good. Very similar taste to other fast food or quick serve Tex mex places quesadillas. The wife got a taco salad and she said it was really good. Much better than Taco Bell's. My oldest daughter got nachos with queso cheese and she said they were very good as well. We also splurged for the sake of our fellow yelpers and got there two deserts (that's how I'll justify it to myself). They were Oreo balls and love chips. They came with either caramel or raspberry topping options on both. We chose the caramel. Both were phenomenal. The Love chips taste like state fair funnel cakes but a much softer bite. Very tasty. The Oreo balls should be illegal. Amazing tasting. Can't go wrong with either desert. And hey if you want order both. I won't judge you obviously. Pricing wasn't bad at all. We got 2 desserts, 4 entree and drinks and only paid 53 bucks. Plenty of food and for a family of 6 that's cheap. All in all we were highly impressed. This location. Is in crestwood which is about 25 min drive form out house. So it's a lengthy drive so not sure how often we will be out this way. There cups say "now franchising" and near my house in fern creek they are suppose to start that massive Southepoint commons over by the gene Snyder and bardstown exit. Maybe a decision maker will read this and make that there second location here in Louisville. I think it would do very well and they would have a regular customer from my family of 6 .

I usually order the nachos. They are good. They run around $13 if your in the area give them a try.

Updating my review of Bubbakoo's Burritos. This place gets a solid 3 from me. The place is busy for sure. Lots of people in line but the line went quickly last night. Many people seem to be ordering online or in the app and picking up. I had a steak burrito with white rice, pinto beans, shredded cheese, pico de Gallo, mild salsa, sour cream and cilantro. This is my go to burrito almost anywhere and sometimes I do chicken. The burrito tasted like it should. The steak was cooked to order on the flattop and was tender. I also ordered the queso tots because queso, and because tots. That was quite delicious!! The queso has some mild chiles in it and was a great mild spicy but a little kick, thick, cheesy flavor. I'd go back just for more queso tots!!

    Chicken Bacon Ranch Bowl

Opening day .. thought I check them out. So far my Chicken Bacon Ranch Bowl is tasty. Good suggestion from the server to ask for the Siracha ranch. Everything looked and tasted fresh . Service was good! Will come back again to see if everything is consistent. I usually don't like brown rice but this BR was good texture.

Taco Tuesday: sriracha ranch Chicken, mango habanero chicken, and sriracha pork + toppings

I passed by this place for a few weeks and finally got the opportunity to give it a try... I'm SO glad I did! The staff was polite and helpful during my visit. They even offered recommendations since it was my first time. They were running a taco Tuesday special, 3 (massive) tacos for only $6! Their menu was unique, offering a variety of meats, sauces, toppings, and even sides. They really put a spin on Tex-Mex! Overall, I received top tier customer service and a quality meal at a great price. I've already raved to my coworkers and I plan to return in the near future!

    Sriracha Pork Burrito
    Emily L.

I did a carry out order from Bubbakoo's so I cannot attest to the service at this location, but I absolutely loved the burrito I got (sriracha pork). Burritos are never my first choice (sorry Chipotle....) but for some reason it sounded so good on this day. The burrito was HUGE and so filling. I love spicy food, and the sriracha pork did not disappoint!

    Shrimp and steak bowl
    TJ B.

The food here was good. Nice options like steak and shrimp burritos/bowls and many different types of chicken (shredded, breaded, mango habanero, General Tso, etc.). The same concept as a Qdoba or Moes, however, much more expensive and not really sure why. The food is pretty similar, with a few different unusual options like curly fries with queso, tater tots, and wings. So as far as overall taste of food and atmosphere, it was good. Just feel like I could've gotten about the same amount of food for a much cheaper price at a Qdoba. For two people for lunch, it cost us $40. That was 1 steak/shrimp bowl, made it a meal which was an additional $4.25 (chips/drink), 1 chicken quesadilla, queso curly fries, and a cup of queso, and water. Little ridiculous

wait...are you telling me a buffalo fried this chicken!? (sry i couldn't help it) but seriously, the recently opened bubbakoos burritos crispy buffalo chicken quesadillas are now the only quesadillas i want for the rest of time. also pictured are the equally delicious queso tots, chiwawa bowls & fried oreos. it was an indulgent, delicious meal and the employees were very helpful with our indecisiveness on what to get. there's a little bit for everyone here, including some much less indulgent options for a healthier meal. my only flaw with this was service is still not streamlined and a bit messy. everyone was nice, but obviously still have some issues in communication.

Decided to try Bubbakoos for lunch today. I had heard good things, and the menu looked awesome. It certainly did not disappoint. The staff was very friendly and accommodating. My order was ready within minutes. The food was prepared to order and was very good. I had their boneless wings and curly fries, they were shockingly some of the best I'd had in a while. I'll definitely be back.

It could just be mediocre pub food, but the food here is very, very good. I don't know why, but when I'm in the south, I get the hankering for a deviled egg. So we started with the deviled eggs (Los Huevos El Diablo), which, despite the name, were not super spicy. They had just the right amount of spice. One thing to know about me is: If I see a patty melt on the menu, I will order that. So I got the Merle's Melt, which is a burger patty with cheddar and Monterey jack cheese, plus bacon and special sauce on buttered toast. It was sublimely tasty! It comes with house-made chips, which were good. They also offer tacos on the menu. One of my children got one steak taco and one chicken taco. The tacos are topped with tomato, lettuce and cojita cheese. I was told that these were very good! My kid eats like a bird, but ate one and a half tacos, so that must say something, right? The Lip Smack'n Mac & Cheese was also ordered, as well as the fried chicken, because the menu says that the fried chicken is award-winning, so how could we not? The fried chicken was super crispy and tasty, and the mac and cheese was creamy and made with large shells, which is the best kind of pasta to use for mac and cheese (in my opinion). The service was great, the lighting was great, and we were seated quickly, even though they seemed busy. It was a good place to have a family dinner in Louisville.

It was very clean inside. Even the restroom was clean and well stocked with soap and paper towels. We will be making this a regular stop again when going to Costco.

We then moved onto the cochinita and the mushroom based tortilla. The cochinita was a good sized serving topped with an orange sauce. I enjoyed it pretty thoroughly and it was a pleasant surprise. My wife had the mushroom tortilla dish which the mushrooms themselves were good, but we noticed the tortilla felt as if it wasn't cooked all the way through and had a doughy taste to it still. The tortilla may have been too thick but either way it was slightly off putting. To drink we split a Jamaica with mint which was delicious and hydrating. It was mainly a mint leaf that added the slight mint flavor so it didn't over power the hibiscus. Would highly recommend. For a desert we had a Mexican tiramisu which was overall a great end to the overall food. Only negative was the mandarins slice on the top of the dessert was very tart which clashed with the sweetness of the dessert. The ambiance was decent and had low light setting which was nice, we personally did not like how close together the seats were as it made it seem like the just wanted to cram as many people into the area to maximize profits. Would be nice to have a bit more space. Speaking of profit, I do believe the dishes were solid but I truthfully don't think the prices are worth it. I understand the farm fresh is a huge part of it, but when you're selling 3 tacos for 25$ it's clear there's a specific group of people this is geared towards in addition to the part of town. This is the main reason I am giving it a 4/5. The service was exemplary and our server was on time, very polite and was amazing at giving recommendations. She was the one that recommended the starter. Overall would come here sporadically or for special occasions but would not make it a regular occurrence due to pricing.

It's not horrible, but its not great either…read more We came in and were initially excited to see a band setting up. Ooh will it be a mariachi band? Mexican folk songs? Nope. It was a group of elders who sang 1960's songs like Roy Orbison and Herman's Hermits. Sadly, they were also...not great. But there were tables full of white people of the same age group who went wild for it, so I guess thats on me. It reminded me of a celebration in a senior living facility but maybe this restaurant has tapped into a secret money making trick? White people rejoice! Anyway, we started off with the Chorizo Queso Fundido appetizer. It came bubbling on a cast iron plate but was so hot the cheese solidified to the pan and really all you could scoop up was the meat. Which is fine but not a cheese dip? My entree was the Chile Colorado (Grilled steak strips on hot salsa. Served with rice, beans and 3 tortillas.). Steak was tough and had a lot of gristle. Sauce was OK, but not spicy (although maybe it is for this area, idk) Honestly the beans and rice were the best part and when have you EVER said that about a dish from a Mexican restaurant? My friend got a steak burrito which he said was very lettuce heavy and not large at all. Service was OK for the amount of people inside and time of day. I dont know if I would come back, maybe if I have to host meemaw's 80th birthday?
