My wife and I were there last Thursday night with a group of about 9 people she works with. I ordered the nights special, Baby Back Ribs for $14.99. When I got them there was a weird smell off the plate. I cut one off with my fork. The meat was soft and had a awful taste. I think the meat was turning bad. My wife tried it and said the same thing. My family has been coming to this restaurant for 7+ years and it used to be one of our top favorites. Our family of 5 visits here every week for either lunch or dinner. Tonight we came here and the lady at the counter was so rude. For years because our daughter can't eat white potatoes they've given her green beans instead of french fries. So long story short the lady at the counter argued with us telling us they've never substituted French fries for our daughter. Insulting us telling us that we must not know where we're at and that the Kirkman location is the only one that does that and we must be confused where we're at. They have lost 5 loyal customers today not just because of the NOT substituting but because of having a order taker arguing with my family. read more

So disappointed in service!!!! On March 3, 2019 I visited the Altamonte Springs location to place a to go order. I went inside and ordered 2 catfish dinners and a few sides totaling $38.56. I waited and waited which I didn't mind b/c the food is worth the wait! As I was waiting, a women walked in and advised the ladies behind the counter that she had just come from the drive thru and received the wrong order. She said out loud "I know this isn't my order b/c I don't eat fish!" In my head I'm like oh man that's probably my order. I stood up to see for sure and I saw one employee say to the short Hispanic woman in charge "this is her order" then turns and walks toward me...I simply shook my head NO as I made eye contact with the worker. She shrugs her shoulder and goes back behind the counter to tell the manager woman. At this point they're behind the counter whispering. I was determined to KEEP MY EYES ON THIS RETURNED FOOD. They ladies literally tried to repackage it to give to me. I had to walk up to the counter to advise they need to remake my order. After two attempts of trying to give this order I walked over to the order window so I could physically see the cooks drop new fish and remake my orders. This food left this establishment and was given to someone else in a car. I HAD NO CLUE WHAT HAPPENED TO THIS FOOD. The person who brought it back in clearly stated she looked through the food. I AM DISAPPOINTED AND DISGUSTED that the ladies tried to repackage an order THEY MISTAKENLY gave to someone else. I asked the lady in charge to give me the owner Buckie / Bucky's contact info...and of course she didn't. Instead she wrote my info down...like someone was really going to contact me. The food is okay. I ordered the baked beans Mac n cheese and pulled pork. The mac n cheese was horrible, but the baked beans were really good, just the right amount of sugar. The pulled pork was dry, they don't put bbq on it or any other toppings. Overall, it was okay food, great customer service but I would not come back. read more

This place is a joke! I recommend never eating there. We went in expecting to be seated and we were told we had to order our food first. I decided to get a combo meal which was $16.29, and my friend ordered shrimp and ribs which also cost $16.29. The total cost of our meal was over $40. The food was brought to us immediately, and we were both expecting a large serving of food. Instead what we got was a pathetic amount of completely flavorless food ( I guess they expected us to drown it with all of their various sauces readily available on the table). I went for dinner for the second time and thought I would give them a second chance because the atmosphere was decent... I ordered the Spare rib dinner and the Texas brisket dinner and I am very disgusted by both dinners. I paid 42.00 and the food was not fresh. I watch the cook warm up several things in the microwave and then the waiter brought us our food so I knew it was reheated. The ribs had a plastic film on the bottom that I to peel off (don't know how that got there or how long it was there) the grease was so thick I had to scrape off the sauce with the grease. When I bit into the rib meat it was hard and all I could taste was greasy BBQ sauce. The Texas brisket was three slices of beef with a creamy sauce drizzled on top with canned jalapenos on top. I preferred the brisket but the meat was dry and I thought they left out some meat off my plate for 12.99 I expected more meat. I really am disappointed because I liked the sides but I will never go back there to eat again. Sorry Bubbalou's but you would probably fail a heath inspection based on the age of the meat you served me. P.S. my dog was sick for two days.He ate my leftovers and I felt very bad for even giving the ribs to him, I just wasting food. read more

First time and last time at this Bubbalous. Ordered 1/2 slab or ribs. A full rack of ribs is 12-13 bones and they served me 4 bones and called that a 1/2 rack. Ripoff!!! Ordered a rib dinner also with sided. The ribs were dry and hard, no flavor. Asked to speak to management but never had anyone stop by the table. Sat at the table for 30 minutes waiting on the order and after stopping 2 employees had the orders finally delivered and the only thing said was sorry. Very disappointing dining experience. I think I dined here once many, many years ago. I was unfamiliar with the menu and unfortunately there were no printed menus to browse, only a large menu board that was not very easy to read. It seemed to annoy the cashier attendant/order taker that we did not know exactly what we wanted to order upon walking in. She was short with us, unfriendly and seemed bothered by us. We then were seated and waited for our food. It did come quickly. Upon arrival the waiter dropped a rib from one of our plates and it fell to the floor. He was not very apologetic about it but returned with a replacement. (At least I hope it was a replacement!) He, like the order taker, was not very friendly either. No greeting; "Hi! How are you today?!" Just unloaded the food and left. Never came back to see if our food was okay or if we would like anything else. I was torn about how much tip to leave. About 30 years ago I was a server. I am a firm believer in leaving a generous tip if the service is good. Likewise, I have no problem not leaving a tip if the service was exceptionally bad. I decided to leave a single dollar tip. I was not going to tip for the poor service, but I felt that I left enough for him to clean up our table. Upon leaving and passing by the waiter (who had not been back to the table to retrieve his tip as yet) he didn't so much as say, "Thank you..... Have a nice day." I knew at that moment he didn't deserve anything more than I had left him. In fact, probably less. In regard to the food, it came to the table lukewarm and in some cases it was almost cold. We got the large 4 meat platter and split it between two of us. The sides were exceptionally small. I mean REALLY small. It was not nearly enough for a single person, much less two people to split. The meats were not that moist and tender. The sauces were okay. It was completely overpriced for what we got. Overall, I will never dine at this establishment again. Went there as a shot in the dark. Did not know what to expect. The staff was friendly & helpful. The food was delicious and the portions were very large. Hubby ordered the baby back rib special, Great flavor, done perfectly & he was able to sub out one of his sides for something else easily. I had the Brunswick stew. The staff were overall pretty friendly, but the food is overpriced and not good enough to make it worth it. My husband and I went in tonight and ordered the special, which was on the board in front of the register, but that no one on staff seemed to know about? We had to be re-rung up after the cashier put in the wrong order, then we had to explain at least 3 times to 4 different people that we wanted whatever came with the dinner special (they kept asking us if we wanted the sandwich or the platter, the board didn't say anything about either), our bill was still way too high and the food was just not good. We had the "Texas Brisket" it was extremely salty, dry, crumbly brisket served on a run of the mill hamburger bun with pickles, pickled jalapenos, and honey mustard...very weird combo and actually wouldn't have been too horrible if there wasn't so much salt and mustard, but it was definitely not worth $8.99. It looked and tasted like something that could've been served as a school lunch. Also, all of the sauces on the table were either too "ketchupy" or too salty as well. Overall for a counter service restaurant, two drinks, and two sandwich baskets our total was $35, and we left feeling very unsatisfied. Next time we'd rather head to Uncle Jones' food truck or Sonny's, it's too bad we just don't have a real good bbq place around this side of town. read more

I have to say that I was honestly disappointed. I ordered the pulled pork dinner with beans, fries, and potato salad including 2 garlic breads. The pork was sitting in a pool of grease. It was sloppy and wet in fat. Pulled pork should be moist not mushy. The potato salad was tasteless. Fries are pretty hard to mess up so thank God for that! The beans were the only thing I could enjoy. They offer 5 barbecue sauces. Honey mustard, sweet, mild, hot, and killer. It would not be an understatement to surmise that they took ketchup, LIGHTLY (and I emphasize LIGHTLY) spiced it, and added water then slapped the name "Barbecue Sauce" on it. It was a sham! How do you have a BBQ place with crappy sauce. UN-FREAKIN-BELIEVABLE! Now, the so called "garlic bread". Oh gosh... More like tasteless toast! 2 oversized pieces of plain bread. Not even a hint of garlic. I smelled it so hard, I swear crumbs were inhaled! Garlic bread should at LEAST have garlic! Otherwise you're just serving toast. Ridiculous! the bbq is great, but the take out service line is atrocious. if you want take out, you need to call it in ahead of time or walk in and order it to go. they dont seem to grasp the concept of the take out line. in all honesty, the food is not worth wait if you are thinking of getting takeout. read more
