Kellers BBQ has been around for over 20 years and is a good go to for some BBQ in Lake Mary. It's a nice small spot on the end of a plaza with a few tables out front and a good amount of tables inside. Everyone there was friendly and helpful in picking out a meal and nicely packed our to go order with extra sauce! We got the pulled pork dinner with 3 sides and added a side Brisket for extra $$. The other sides were green beans, baked beans, and crinkle fries. For the cost, I was expecting the portions to be a little larger. For instance the baked beans were in a 2oz cup...that's like a side of sauce cup. The green beans were in a 4oz cup. Not a ton of fries either. We also got a side of smoked sausage, my son loved it! We also got wings with celery and blue cheese. The wings are one of my favorites to get and I always substitute the buffalo sauce for Keller's own BBQ sauce that comes in Sweet, Original, or Hot. Their sauces are awesome! The wings are always a nice size, not like the tiny wings you get from most franchise spots. Everything tasted good! Their brisket is not brisket. Not sure what it was but not brisket. Had the consistency of sliced very thin rare roast beef. I questioned the server about it as they had sliced beef as an option. The only redeemable item here is the macaroni & cheese and the hush puppies. Spent $50+ on takeout and it was a very disappointing meal. We ordered a pound of brisket, but unfortunately they either did a bait & switch and gave us sliced beef (but still charged for brisket) OR, they are just cosplaying as a BBQ restaurant. There is no way a pitmaster works here. Whatever they did, it was a absolutely not smoked brisket. It was gray and smokeless, over cooked by hours, and cut paper thin on meat slicer. I'm not a snob who needs a smoke ring and perfect bark - but clearly something went wrong. I'm bothered that they still sold it to us even. The mashed potatoes also have a weird flavor to them - it honestly tastes like they've melted white American cheese into it? That would be super strange to do, so we'll just say they're not good. The gravy is even bad and just tastes like salt. Overall, I don't consider what I was provided to be BBQ or to have "real smoke". Very good BBQ. Small and well-kept restaurant in a busy shopping center. Our waitress said they've been in this same spot 27 years. We later found out this Keller is the grandson of Andy Keller, who founded the FL BBQ legend Fat Boy's BBQ years ago. The same Andy who was Sonny Tillman's cousin - who was trained by Andy & later left to start Sonny's BBQ. We had a pulled pork; sliced pork; ribs; sliced brisket; fries; beans; garlic bread and cole slaw. Most everything was very good. Large portions of protein served as requested without sauce so we could enjoy the true smoked meat flavor without our meal being drowned in sauce. Surprisingly, the bbq beans were the only weak link. We love good bbq beans - these were not very good. They were just blah in a thin ketchup-flavored liquid instead of the homemade slow cooked delight infused with thick molasses and pit drippings that we expect from a good joint like Keller's. Maybe they ran out and had to open a can on short notice. We expected much better. Our server was an efficient and friendly professional. She clearly knew how to serve without constantly trying to up-sell us. She just served us our meal as ordered and checked back on us a few times. Nice service. All in all, we had a well prepared and satisfying meal for a very reasonable price. Keller's in Lake Mary is better than 4 Rivers. Good job Keller's. read more

Although this is a brief review because I did take out, I had a great experience here. Staff both on the phone and in person were friendly and polite. My food was ready a few minutes before promised. I got a turkey lunch plate and the turkey was excellent. It was moist and very thinly sliced. The Southern green beans were probably the best I've ever had. Hush puppies were good. Great food, husband loves the ribs and brisket. I usually get the chef or the pig salad. I love the sliced pork. We have eaten in restaurant as well as take out. I do a lot of pickups. I call and order then pickup myself. It is very easy to call it in and order has always been correct. The girls are all very nice. The inside is clean and very organized. I liked all of the bbq sauces. Their traditional sauce is a mustard based sauce, the sweet sauce is really good, and the spicy sauce is good too! The sides were decent I liked the baked beans. I've heard of this little spot for years but this is the first time I've tried it. Well worth it. For lunch we tried the pulled pork and the ribs. Each meal comes with three sides and two slices of garlic bread. I was surprised for the price that it included so much! The collard greens need some hot sauce but that's my personal preference, I could still eat them as is. The baked beans and coleslaw were great options as well. Pulled pork with the homemade spicy bbq sauce was delicious. Service was quick, we sat ourselves and our food was up in no time. Great options for a quick lunch. Get the SLICED BEEF! Seriously, just do that! If you like Delicious BBQ, then Kellers may be one of the better choices in Orlando. As I mentioned, the Sliced Beef is out of this world good. I don't know what they use or how they do it but it's a must if you eat beef. If you don't eat beef, then the ribs and turkey are my other two top favorites here. Use that delicious garlic bread to make yourself one of the best BBQ Sandwiches you ever had. I will say that for Brisket, it's not my favorite, but the Sliced Beef is worth the trip. Our server came over shortly after we sat down with menus, and waters. We both went with the lunch special (pick a protein, and three sides). The ribs were delicious - no sauce needed (but the spicy sauce is really good and not overly spicy), the green beans were warm with little pieces of bacon, the coleslaw was perfect, and the mac and cheese was good. Love this local bbq place so close to work and home, with a lot of seating for its size, including some outside seating. The Brunswick stew is AMAZING. They have all your standard bbq meats plus catfish, and my favorite bbq sauce in town. They have a great lunch menu and you get a ton of food for the money (3 sides plus meat and bread). I go out for lunch on my lunch break most days, so I'm always looking for places that have a decently priced lunch menu, and this is one of my favorites. Service at the Lake Mary location is unbeatable, with very low turnover. The same people have been there for years, and they are fantastic. Wow, this is our first time eating at Keller's Real Smoke BAR-B-Q; what serendipity! I have to thank Chili's for making this happen. We had our heart set on sizzling hot fajitas tonight; however, Chili's was understaffed with only two cooks and a 35-minute wait to be seated. While Nancy and I were rethinking our options, we noticed Keller's Real Smoke BAR-B-Q sitting proudly in the background, so we decided to give them a try. The restaurant is inside a strip mall, making seating minimal; room enough for 30-patrons inside and 10-15-patrons outside. Regardless, do not let the seating deter you because the food is phenomenal! Keller's family-style BBQ uses real wood-smoking techniques and recipes developed over 130-years ago, deep in the Florida Everglades. The restaurant was at capacity when we arrived; fortunately, we were lucky enough to slide right into a freshly cleaned table. The three servers on duty were inviting, friendly, and efficient. It was amazing how the team helped each other refill drinks, deliver entrées, and clear tables. Nancy ordered the Lunch BAR-B-Q Pulled Pork ($9.89), and I ordered the Three Meat Combo and chose Sliced Beef, Pulled Pork, and Ribs for my meats ($14.99). Both of our meals included three sides and Texas-style toast. We like to choose different side items to sample as many options as possible, but this go-round, we were craving the same things; mac-n-cheese, baked beans, and coleslaw. Our meals arrived in less than 10-minutes, the portions size is generous, and everything was hot-n-fresh, even the toast! All of the meats are tender, moist, and have a beautiful wood-smoked flavor. The three sauces provided; Traditional, Carolina-style, and Kansas City-Hot, accompanied the dish perfectly; they were so good that I couldn't help but dab my toast and mac-n-cheese in them. I feel fortunate that we found Keller's tonight. There are so many options out there, and many of them great; however, tonight, we found an exceptional one and cannot wait to return. This is a casual but friendly atmosphere and it's a comfortable restaurant. I ordered a takeaway meal and it was great. The ordering for to-go orders is to the right side as you walk in, and the order taker is on the left side with menus to review if you are new. I was here about 23 years ago, and I think it's better now. I usually order a pulled pork sandwich, but they are always hit or miss at most places I've been. My order this time was a jumbo pulled pork sandwich, and it was excellent. If you're hungry, I'd recommend the jumbo as it's not as huge as you may imagine, but it's a good-sized sandwich for an average adult male with a good appetite. It comes with no sauce, but the person taking the order asks which type of sauce you would like, and it's served on the side. I ordered the hot sauce, and I wouldn't say it's extraordinarily hot, more of a spicy sauce unless you believe ketchup is hot, then you shouldn't order it, lol. With this meal, I added French fries, and they were great. The meal was served hot with I like. If you really like a good amount of sauce, I'd ask for 2 if that's possible as mine didn't cover the entire sandwich. We go here a few times a month and it's usually pretty solid food. It is our go to for bbq in the area. This past weekend we had a large party and the day before we ordered about 15 lbs of bbq, assortment of meats. When I get it home I put it out and about an hour later I realize that under the first layer, the "pulled" chicken and "pulled" pork is largely just gigantic chunks way to big to be placed on a sandwich or served. Several entire chicken breasts in the tray. Huge hunks of pork butt. I was left putting pounds of this stuff into a paddle mixer to break it down so it could be served while everyone was waiting. Really disappointing and a hassle. Food was good but the setup was far below expectations. A lot of it went uneaten because no one wanted to shred their own food and I didn't catch it until later in the party. The quality, service and ambiance has not changed and I'm happy for it. Great customer service- our server was attentive and kind. I ordered the grilled chicken with mashed potatoes and green beans. Would have loved fresh green beans, but these were canned. The chicken was perfectly cooked with beautiful grill marks. The mashed potatoes and gravy was rich and flavorful. Listen, Ive had amazing brisket, so so brisket, and this ain't brisket. At least the American Barbecue prep I'm familiar with. It's more like corned or roast beef. Thin, dry, no fat, no bark, all you get it some smoke. I literally wouldn't have been able to guess this was brisket if I wasn't told. Server recommended "beef" if it was rare. She asked the kitchen and they said it was prepped well done. Why they're making beef to well done is beyond me.... Green beans cooked in pork was a surprised favorite with good seasoning.
