This place is what I would consider a local gem. The staff is welcoming and friendly to patrons. The decor was charming and homey and it seemed pretty clean too. Plenty of seating. They have specials on Monday and Thursday which sounded yummy and at good value. We got classic breakfast fare and pretty much everything was amazing. The only thing that did not WOW us was the biscuit, a little dry and dense but still okay. I would highly recommend the sausage links. They were good quality, juicy, and crispy. The pancakes and French toast were also delicious. They are not crispy but very buttery, soft, flavorful. So if you like that kind of pancake/french toast, this place is your jam. FULL DISCLOSURE- This is my family's restaurant - my parents became the owners over 15 years ago. Since buying it they moved the restaurant from its free standing location to the plaza behind it. The ambiance/vibe is as it's always been...COUNTRY!! Chickens! Cows! Funny signs, and even pictures of the regulars. It's first come/first serve, with plenty of tables and even a bar top if you like that. Our youngest son got a chocolate chip pancake with sausage and hash browns. Our older son and my wife got the same thing...Country Boy Meal...one egg, bacon/sausage, French toast/Pancake, plus a side of hash browns. They all LOVE hash browns! I got BLT on rye bread with home fries! The food was really good, not anything fancy, it's a home cooked meal. You should be full from your meal and might have some leftovers. I have been eating at Country Kitchen for over 20 years. I often meet with friends and bring family when they are in from out of town. Today, when I received my usual steak and eggs, the portion of everything on the plate was obviously smaller. The menu states two eggs; I may have had 1 and a half medium-sized eggs at best. When bringing this to my server's attention, she spoke to me like I was 10. She made mention that the owner was cutting back in order not to raise prices, although she stated it in an extremely condescending way! The food has always been quite good and what most would consider a good value. Maybe the cook was having an off day? I certainly did not do anything to make him mad!...... We'll see how things go next time, If not better, I will be moving on. read more

Lack of customer service and bland food. The lady pictured literally put her finger up at me and said "I'm in the middle of something. I'm adding," when I asked her could I order. She literally was doing nothing. When I spoke she picked up her calculator, typed a few things, then came to me after proving she moves when she wants. The omelette meal I ordered was priced at $9.75ish. I added mushroom. After she clicked around on her handy dandy calculator and up-charged me for God knows what...my total came out to $13.31. No problem, had the food been amazing. But it wasn't. The omelette was very wet. It was completely bland. And they use those uncooked diced ham pieces. I was so disappointed. The potatoes were golden and cooked well. But once again no seasoning. They just threw the toast on top of the wet food. And the ambiance is not welcoming for all. You could tell they treat their regulars a different way than "outsiders". There's a lot of yelling information from waitress to waitress. The only person who was kind was a young lady with a neck tattoo. She was helpful. You can tell people at places like this have been getting away with their mediocre "ways" for decades so it's no use in giving them feedback. In their minds, they don't need "us" the customers because they've made it so long. It's not right. They should do better. And they should purchase some seasoning salt, adobe, garlic salt, onion powder, or SOMETHING! read more

This is a "like" but not "love" the experience. Bigger on the inside than expected based on the parking situation. Incredibly friendly staff. Special call out to Donna. It's clean and comfortable. I chose the breakfast bar for today. Coffee is freshly ground from beans. These folks go through coffee on par with a Starbucks kiosk. Coffee is good. I had an omelette with everything minus the chef's hair. I suspect if I asked for it, Donna would have accommodated. In all, I felt like there was too much going on in the omelette. I should have gone with another option. I also wanted to try the biscuits and sausage gravy. I have a flavor profile in mind. Both the biscuit and gravy were disappointing. My husband started with coffee, my son had chocolate milk, and I had water. I splity breakfast with my son and we got the Country Kitchen 222 with pancakes, scrambled eggs and sausage and I added a cup of fruit. Everything was cooked appropriately and the pancakes were so big that they took up the whole plate. My husband got the gravy dream omelette with grits and a biscuit. The house made sausage gravy had great flavor and paired well with the potato filled omelette. The grits were good. The biscuit was as tall as two biscuits stacked together. I've passed this little hole-in-the wall strip mall establishment millions of times over the years and never bothered to stop in. My bad! I was running early to take my dad to an appointment and was looking for a breakfast spot. The first place I stopped at was closed so I went exploring. This is a local treasure that serves good meals cheap. All of the staff I encountered were friendly and helpful. I was seated at a table immediately upon entering and grabbed a menu off the server's counter. I was waited on quickly and ate a huge filling breakfast of two scrambled eggs, sausage patties, and grits in place of toast. My order was under $10! I judge breakfast places by a few staple foods and today my test was the country fried steak. For the price I was not expecting as big or as tender of a piece of meat as I got. It was about an 8" diameter steak covered in flavorful country gravy that wasn't too thick or too thin. The home fries were tender with a little crisp on the outside and the eggs were cooked perfectly over easy so my plate was swimming in runny yolk and gravy that I happily dipped up with the sourdough toast. My father had the Gravy Dream Omelette which was stuffed full of tastyness and accompanied by crunchy on top but tender inside hash browns and a fluffy griddled biscuit. All of that plus an iced tea, cup of coffee, and a side of gravy to go (couldn't finish the biscuit so now I d got breakfast tomorrow!) was only $20! We stopped in here for lunch today on a whim. My husband said his fish sandwich was good. I ordered the corned beef hash which was tasty but nothing out of the ordinary. The home fries were a good size but unfortunately, I had a ton of black, charred bits from the grill that tasted obviously very burned and ruined a few bites. Not pictured is my son's omelette and biscuit. He enjoyed the omelette and we all tried the biscuit. It was a decent sized guy with very good texture and flavor! This place is a typical hole in the wall local diner. Low prices. Good breakfast but probably skip the entrées. I ordered a pressed Cuban and it was dry but also somehow greasy? The person I was with ordered the special which was meatloaf and mashed potatoes and gravy. All of it so clearly it came from a box or gravy packet, although I'm not sure how you can fake meatloaf. It was sort of the consistency of spam. Just no discernible real food ingredient in it except that it was brown. I love seeing local, non-chain places when I'm looking for options but it's just not acceptable to phone it in like that. read more

What a pleasant experience for breakfast! We walked in here and could seat ourselves. Plenty of room and super cozy. Sorry about no pictures but it was too good to pull out our phones. I ordered the "everybody's favorite" 2 eggs, choice of meat which they have country ham, potatoes and toast. My Wife ordered the eggs Benedict which she said was great and not too flour based. She did however say to order a few lemons on the side. The team / staff is very accommodating. Although our server was on point constantly the whole team helped when it was needed! We found this place while searching for great pancake locations. We were in the area for a small convention, and were driving around the area and noticed that this was a few blocks away. The food was inexpensive (the most expensive meal we saw was $9.50 and that was a T-bone steak). We opted to order waters and coffee for the table. We both ordered the Country Kitchen 222 (the only difference is that he added grits to his meal). It comes with 2 strips of bacon, 2 pancakes and 2 eggs scrambled whatever way you like. Our meal came out to about $22 and it was on par with most of the restaurants we go to as far as price. There were several booth and tables spread out and the location was following Covid guidelines where everyone was wearing masks and gloves and you are required to wear a mask as well. Our waitress was super attentive and she made sure that our water glasses stayed full and she asked me if I needed coffee, even if I declined lol. The eggs were the highlight of the meal as they use the most amazing cheese ever, the pancakes were piping hot, thick, and delicious, and I couldn't get enough of the bacon. The effort they put into their home fries reveals all that you need to know about the quality of the place. If they're pre-cooked, fried, boring...or maybe non-existent (only offering hash browns) I would skip the place. If they are made using real, whole, fresh potatoes....nice seasoning...success. When talking with my better half about where we want to retire...what we want in where we choose to live, it came to me after eating breakfast here this morning.
