    cheesy grits

Looks like a cool hang out spot with a Caribbean vibe that most will enjoy. Just expect parking to be a challenge depending on the time of day. Food was a let down, i was disappointed and not happy to say the least. The greatest let down was the she crab soup, the first sip was so sour, I tried again and cringed, it was just inedible. The rest of the food was ok, i expected cheesy grits and was presented with cheese on top grits. The tacos tasted fresh, but unfortunately it is a no for a second visit.

The restaurant location is hidden backb off of Lookout Road where there's access to the beach for the locals as well as the public, however, the parking can be a nightmare. This isn't a restaurant to go you're easily offended by the locals enjoying their alcohol and music as inappropriate language and loudness is going on. I truly enjoyed the Brie but I think it would taste a lot better on Granny Smith and not the soft red apple it was served with. The shrimp were a very nice colossal size and steamed to perfection. My crab cakes encrusted with cornflakes was a nice flavor and just crispy enough. The cheese grits were ok. I expected the cheese to be melted into the grits and not just shredded over them and they were a bit dry. My overall rating was due to parking and no valet, the crowd and loudness/language use and #1 because our waitress Barbara charged us $7 for a glass of wine that was not ordered. When I asked for my second glass my step sister stressed absolutely not for her second glass so how she'd go back and add in another for her is beyond me. That was a new try restaurant for all 3 of us and being ripped off tainted it for me going back!! Our bull was $199.67 so the $7 didn't matter EXCEPT we didn't order it and made it clear. We also had the flash-fried Calamari for an appetizer. The parmesan cheese dusted with garlic parmesan sauce was a nice new twist for us.

There's a thick, bold line between "unrefined working-class bar" and "unrepentant shithole." As I'm seated, the first thing I see is a cherry tomato sitting next to the baseboard in plain site. Not under the table or hidden where it could easily be overlooked. The waitress is friendly but takes a long time to take our orders and the reason is obvious. As she takes our order, she has crumbs on her lips from whatever she was snacking on in the kitchen. The food was not great. My salad was brought to me with the waitress' thumb in it and it was obvious it was not made that day. Everything else is basically fried with old bay seasoning on top. I can't express how lousy all the restaurants in this specific part of the neighborhood are. They all need to be renovated and/or need a deep cleaning. They need to offer their wait staff dental plans. They need not to suck.

Good food and service for late night. My friends and I went after 9p and the service was good; forgot 2 of our drinks at one point but no big deal. Good was really good.

Service was slow & not attentive at all. They just took your order, delivered food, then brought your check. I had to flag them down or get up to get their attention if I needed anything. They didn't even ask if I needed anything else after delivering food. I actually had to get up to ask for something to stir my coffee with. Utensils still had dried food on it even though it was washed. So I had to ask for hot water so I can soak it clean. They brought me 2 hot water but only 1 of them was hot. The first one was lukewarm coz I can dip my finger in it. I ordered the classic Benny or the eggs Benedict. It was swimming in hollandaise sauce. The eggs were over poached, the yolk was almost hard boiled. Definitely not impressed.

You know you're in a locals joint when you immediately have the urge to turn back around upon entering the place. The stare down that happened was from every direction! Or maybe they were just looking for their friends... The service is okay, the staff is friendly, and the food is okay. The times I've been there have been after a day of drinking so I don't really want to drink much more. I've still had a couple of their drinks though. The Orange Dream Crush is probably my favorite because it's a mix of my adulthood and childhood. If I'm in the area, I tend to stop in but I'm not going out of my way to hit it.

I have been here a few times and each time I mean to write a review but this time I haven't been able to stop thinking about that fish sandwich for a week now!! They have an amazing really cheesy crab dip and the peel and eat shrimp is great But that fish sandwich was amazing... It was about an inch and a half thick and just flaky, fresh and fabulous ! The service was great, the social distancing was great... Everyone was wearing their masks... All great stuff... But that fish sandwich... I have to go back really soon!

Cute little diner at Chicks beach! Mother in law ordered fried brownie dessert! So good. I ordered the dollar chicken taco which wasn't bad. Apparently the scallops were great. Good casual dinner. Parking is limited so i would worry how it would be during a busier time.

Deep Fried Brownie Absolutely amazing. I would come back again and again. I also ate the buffalo chicken wrap which was great too. Our waitress was very nice and attentive.

I had lunch here today and the pirate salad was amazing. The staff was super friendly. The service was a little slow, I wasn't sure why because there was only 5 people In the restaurant. Other than that a very present experience.

Very good. My girlfriend and I got fish tacos and they were excellent. Perfectly seasoned, cooked beautifully, and brilliant baja sauce. Service was great and atmosphere is very cool.

Since there was an hour wait at that restaurant, we decided on HK on the Bay. Thankfully, there wasn't a wait at all so we were seated right away. Our server came to our table right away and gave us time to look over the menu. We were very intrigued with all the menu options. They offer normal bar-type food like wings, fries, nachos and egg rolls but they also offer meatloaf, fajitas, chicken & dumplings and seafood as well. I decided on the Crab Dip, Loaded Brussels Basket and Southwest Egg Rolls and my friend ordered the HK Rolls and a side of Garlic Risotto. The food was served fairly quickly and everything was pretty good. The Loaded Brussels were my favorite; however, I probably wouldn't get the Gouda on it next time. I tasted my friend's HK Rolls and they weren't bad, not my favorite though. Since it was Wednesday, I inquired about their "$.75 Wing Deal" and the server said the deals are over at 9pm, even though they close at 10pm. I thought that was very odd to end their specials before the place closed and since it was a little after 9pm, it would've been nice to know that in advance. Overall, we had a nice experience. HK definitely seems like a local's favorite. The food is tasty, the place is clean and the staff is very nice.

The last time I set foot inside their Pleasure House Rd location was at least 10 years ago. I celebrated my birthday there as my friends were kind enough to take me out. It was a Sunday morning and I sought out a place that offered brunch. I noticed 1608 was open and decided to head over, especially since I haven't visited them in ages. When I walked in, I noticed their dining room is dimly lit - much darker than I remember. I was greeted immediately by a kind hostess and she proceeded to sit me at a nearby table and provided me with menus (one food, one alcohol). I took my time looking over the food menu, and in the meantime I ordered a pint of Center of the Universe's Bald Irishman and a bottle of Boylan's Black Cherry soda (they do not have a soda fountain). What made this visit memorable was that 1608's bartender, Hunter, was an old acquaintance from back in my restaurant days. He spotted me and came over to say hi. After my meal, I continued to catch up with him at the bar. His presence made a pleasant experience even more fantastic. I thought I was hungry, so I ordered 2 dishes - Smoked Ham Fried Rice and the Breakfast Burrito. According to Hunter, every item is made fresh in house. After biting into each, you could tell that's true. Both the fried rice and burrito were delicious and boasted lots of flavor. Although I prefer my fried rice a bit simpler (if you give me just garlic fried rice, I am SET), 1608's fried rice (veggies, garlic, soy, basmati rice, 2 runny eggs, smoked ham) had a lot going on, which made for a flavorful dish. I liked the rice and the burrito (Korean style fried chicken breast, scrambled eggs, cilantro lime, cheddar, pico de gallo) a lot. I didn't finish either because it was a lot of food (I really thought I was hungry, haha). But these leftovers turned into a fantastic dinner later on. 1608 looked clean and organized, although I thought it was a little too dark inside, at least for brunch service. That's not a dealbreaker since everything from the food to the service was as excellent as I remember. I hope to return soon with my mom. Regardless, I'll find my way back eventually. Thank you, 1608 Crafthouse! And great seeing you again, Hunter! JV

I ordered the Black and Blue burger with sweet potatoes waffle fried, and my son ordered a bacon cheeseburger with regular fries. I got my burger with a little pink, and it was cooked to perfection! Sometimes I am hesitant to get pink because it's been to raw. The burger was not only cooked to perfection, I really loved the bleu cheese sauce and grilled onions. The waffle fries with the cinnamon/brown sugar sauce were great as well. My son also really enjoyed his burger, but he did say his fries tasted like shrimp. I tasted them, and they didn't taste like shrimp but they did have a distinct taste. I can't really describe it, but I didn't like it. We came here to celebrate a birthday, and it ended up being one of those meals where everything just hit. First off, those margaritas are no joke. Massive, flavorful, and strong in the best way. Bonus: they do $2 off specialty margs on Mondays, which is dangerous knowledge now that I have it. I went with the Coco Loco Margarita (1800 coconut tequila, coconut milk, triple sec, and sweetened flaked coconut), and WOW. It was creamy, refreshing, and honestly tasted like a tropical vacation. My friends ordered the House Marg, Peach Sangria Marg and the Spicy Pineapple & Cilantro Marg, all were just as impressive. The spicy one had a great kick without being overwhelming, and the peach option was super smooth and fruity. Before we even ordered, the complimentary chips, salsa, and that famous white sauce came out ... and let me tell you, that white sauce is to die for. I could've eaten that all night. For my dinner, I had the asada enchiladas, and I'm still thinking about them. Perfectly cooked grilled steak laid over cheesy enchiladas with verde sauce, plus rice and black beans. I loved that the steak was on top because once I got full, I could still pick at the protein (elite move). My friends got arroz con pollo, carne asada tacos, and the wildest dish on the table ... the El Molcajete. It came out sizzling in a stone bowl loaded with shrimp, beef, chicken, chorizo, cactus, and all the fixings. We all shared bites and it was unreal. We ended the night with the staff singing happy birthday and completely embarrassing my friend with a sombrero and a candle in his shot. Incredible.
