We took a large family group of ten and got seated quickly by coming a little bit before 5 pm. My kids and grandkids love fried okra and the appetizer did not disappoint. Speaking of...Food was 2/10. 1.25, if we're honest. Cardinal sin of gumbo making was committed: They burnt the roux. You don't serve gumbo after burning the roux. Shut the place down for that alone! Blacked shrimp was...seasoned. Nowhere near blackened. Chicken was overcooked so bad it was inedible. Kids fish "sticks" may as well have been Play Doh, given the awful texture. If you enjoy dropping $150 for a family of four and leaving feeling ripped off, this is your place. As for us, this was a one and done. Why people wait in line for this slop is beyond me. read more

Our second visit to a LuLu's , and this was no better than the Alabama location. We were there on Saturday night and ordered the seafood basket for two at $58.00 and we were told by the server that the portion was more than enough for 2. First of all the order came to the table completely wrong as if the server didn't even hear our order. We ordered a side of turnip greens and got a huge basket of fries, ordered blackened shrimp and received poorly cooked deep fried shrimp, ordered blackened fish and received a portion the size of fish and were told would be more then enough for two , ordered crab claws ( LuLu's specialty) and received a deep fried finger of the claw with no crab meat just batter, ordered fried oysters and received scraps of deep fried batter but did receive two large servings of coleslaw. We enjoyed the slaw and eat any of the food. Finally got some blackened shrimp and turnip greens after several visits from different servers. I very nicely said something about the food to our server and she brought out a very apologetic manager, he said he would not have eaten the food either and said it had been happening all day. Didn't charge us for the food and was very nice about it. My take on this is of course is we will not return and secondly the manager said they were serving food like that all day long. After a long drive over to Myrtle Beach, wanted a quick drink and somewhere to relax for a bit. We came across Lulus while walking around Barefoot Landing. The atmosphere was vibrant and exciting even for a slow weekday. I loved the outdoor area with the sand, a great spot to have a drink and vibe by the water with a nice breeze. I stopped here for a quick dinner because I knew they had a gluten free menu. The manager came out to take my order to make sure the proper allergy precautions were taken. I went on a cold, rainy day about 3pm and I was seated right away. It's a very casual atmosphere and they had a singer on the stage. I was enjoying the music and didn't want to leave. The food came out pretty quickly. I got a bowl with greens on the side and surprisingly the turnip greens were very tasty. I did not expect to like them at all and I was so shocked at how good they were. It was good for a quick bite to eat. My daughter got chips and cheese dip and it was really tasty. Cold beer is always a plus! Not as fun: our meals were just meh. The shrimp in my tacos didn't have any seasoning (I did like the sauce they served with it though), I didn't like the gumbo at all (my husband loves gumbo and he also though meh), the shrimp bowl was quite pricey and my "I love everything" husband was so disappointed - he wished he had tried something else. We enjoy the options at Barefoot landing and with everyone visiting the area for a family wedding, we needed a meal! We checked at the desk and put our name and phone number to be texted when a table was ready (about one hour). We explored the local shops around here and several members came out with bags of swag and treats! When the text came in we returned and were seated. Our server brought waters and took our appetizer order (Okra & Onion Rings). Our family from NY had never heard of Okra and a few gave it a try. Having the dipping sauce helped for sure. Our drink orders were delivered and meal selections were taken. The service was timely and our meals came out in two sakes of a lambs tail. The portions were generous and half our party needed ToGo containers for a second meal back at our cottages. We did sample some fudge that was purchased at a shop for a light desert! All in the bill was $275 with tip which I tried to contribute to but my brother in law paid first ! One life hack- when the restaurant closes at ten (on this Friday night) there is a fire works display over the water which lasted for ten minutes. The menu is not extensive but a good size. They were very attentive to my husband's gluten allergy. The manager actually came over and spoke to him and took his order separately from mine. Our server was very good and would bring refills on drinks when he saw they were a little low. The nachos we had were good and then I had the grilled chicken tacos-they were delicious.
