I recommend this laundromat for a few reasons- PROS 1. As a woman, I feel safe coming here alone as it's in a safe neighborhood and the place is rarely busy. 2. They have a variety of size washers, ranging from a single load ($6.00/wash), large load (regular loads in 1 for $8/wash) or the industrial washer (8 regular loads in 1 for 11.50/ wash). The prices seem a bit high in my opinion but it's better than destroying my washer with heavy blanket loads! 3. Large 30lb dryers (.25 /6 mins) 4. Washers and dryers LOCK once you start them so you can go for a walk or leave without worrying about it getting stollen (COME BACK IN TIME THOUGH) 5. Clean space 6. Change machines that takes $1, $5, $10 and $20 bills (gives you quarters and dollar coins for the machines) 7. Detergent and softener machines you can purchase if you forget yours ($2 each) Cons 1. Again, the prices are a little high in my opinion 2. Plenty of room for folding and sitting, and the change machines work great. The biggest dryer (55 lb.) got my comforter dry in eight minutes!--50 cents. Our apartment complex has 2 mini-washers + 2 dryers for every 10 units. They're also frequently covered in soot - so much so that you dread washing your clothes in fear of getting them dirty(er). Roxy G., thank you for leading us to Bubble & Fluff. It's 5mins away, in a nice neighborhood, and ultra clean. Even with 8 loads of laundry, there was no shortage of washers and dryers on a Sunday evening.. Plus, there's a Trader Joe's and Walgreens nearby for when we get thirsty/hungry. The only thing this place needs are little tables to go with their chairs so I can bring a lappy next time since they have free wi-fi.. and maybe a bench outside. The regular machines have gone up to $2, the double-load $4, and the triple-load $6. Make sure you check the soap compartments for bleach and detergent that the last guy may have left behind - clothes with splotches of discoloration haven't been in for a while. read more

So good so far. This is my first time here. This is what I have observed so far: Pros: -They are open on Sunday. -There appears to be a change machine. -There is a coin-operated laundry soap dispenser. -Free newspapers to read. Cons: -None of the machines take card payments or coins that are not quarters (needs a technology update- it is 2015 and it is also the Bay Area). -They are not open later than 9pm daily- huge bummer. -Today (a Sunday) at about 4:13pm: there are no washing machines available. I was lucky, but it looks like that could be an issue in the future. -Washers are front-load (prone to issues, but that is just my personal experience). -No locks on the dryers (you cannot leave the laundromat). -People leave their laundry unattended in the machines for an unacceptable amount of time. -No customized settings on the regular size machines (only "Colors", "Delicates," etc.). -Delicates setting on the wash is set to warm temperature!! We've had a bit of trouble not calling this place Bubble and Squeak (a traditional English cabbage/kale and potato dish). Definitely clean! The machines appear to be in good repair and I didn't run into a machine I wasn't comfortable putting my clothes into (gum in the dryers, snags in the metal drums, these are things I've seen). There's apparently wi-fi on site, but I didn't use it. The machines run from $1.50 for a "standard" high-efficiency machine that actually holds about two loads of clothes to $6.00 for the mega-huge six-load wash-all. The very large dryers are twenty five cents for seven minutes but work really quickly and well, even on the lower heat settings, provided you clean the lint trap as suggested. Change machine on-site transform your bills ($1, $5, $10 and $20 accepted, according the machine) into quarters. There's also a gum-ball machine style soap vending machine available that you can spend a few bucks for a box of Tide or whatever. The signs all over the wall remind you that the HE machines only need 1/4 of the soap a regular machine does. Even in the middle of a Saturday afternoon I didn't have to elbow over any grannies or kids to get to some machines; in fact, my husband and I were some of the few people there. Of the 13 regular machines, about seven seemed to be the most in use at one time while we were there. There are only four of the mid-range machines and two of the largest machines. The seating is lacking, unfortunately, and it is not air conditioned. The parking situation is interesting - all of the street parking in front is labeled as 20 minute parking, but didn't seem to be enforced when we were there. There is some two-hour street parking further down the block and across the street. There did seem to be parking in the back, but I didn't check that out. Mmmm... fresh laundry. read more

I use to love coming here to do my laundry, but about 2 weeks ago I went there and most of their dryers don't dry good and I had to switch my clothes and hope that the dryer I put them in would dry my clothes. Ugh... Where do I begin? I used to love going to this laundromat. It was affordable and I could always get my laundry done on my own schedule, with limited interruptions. This has since changed over the past couple of months, and especially now. First, the pros... - There is a new owner. Brett, the previous owner was letting the place get run down. - The new owner has literally cleaned the place up. It was filthy before. The lady that used to clean at night didn't do a great job. - The new owner added really nice dryers that work very well - replacing the dryers that kept breaking down. - There are new washers as well. - The new owner will reply to you. (Not talking about here, but using the number on the wall.) Now, the cons... - There used to be wifi. It's gone now. - There have been a few seemingly homeless people in recent weeks and months that seem to take over the place. (See other reviews by other people for more details.) - There is only one power plug (usually used by a homeless person). - There used to be 75% normal-sized washers. You could walk in at nearly any time and do your laundry. This is especially important if you need to break up your loads by color, material, and purpose (e.g., towels, workout gear, whites, colors, delicates, etc.). That has since switched. It's now 75% large washers. They're expensive and now you have to wait for washers. - The new washer doors don't open all of the way - making it difficult to load and unload in some cases. - There are only two folding tables. When it gets busy, it's difficult to fold - especially when some inconsiderate people use the folding tables as a shelf for their basket or something. The new washer situation is incredibly disruptive to me at this point. I've done laundry twice now since they've been replaced, I have to go and wait for washers to open up (there are only 5 normal sized washers). This takes more time, which is a critical issue as a business owner myself. It takes more money to get the loads all done now, because if I'm in a hurry, I have to combine loads in ways that shouldn't be done. This forces me to make compromises on things like whether or not I use fabric softener, put towels with other clothes, etc. Today, I had to wait nearly 30 minutes for a washer because I couldn't put a tiny load of whites into one of those large washers. I texted the new owner. His name is Paul. I know this because he actually called me back in minutes. He seems nice enough, but he was very dismissive about the entire washer situation and wanted to focus on getting kudos for replacing the dryers. He kept telling me to just combine my loads. He literally said that rent is high and he just wants people to use the larger dryers so he can make more money. In short, this place is run by someone who clearly doesn't use the place the same way the rest of us do. You can't make effective decisions as a business owner if you don't use your own product. I get it... Every business has to make money. But you need to put a product and service in place that makes customers happy. I'm going to the laundromat next to Town for now on. It will be worth the extra few quarters per load. :( read more

This is the hippest, cleanest laundromat I've been to. It has a retro vibe. Machines are new, clean and work great. I know this pretty far from home to do laundry but whenever I'm in the neighborhood it's a pleasant place to do laundry. One afternoon, I forgot to take home my comforter. Since I live in Palo Alto, I didn't have time to come back until the next morning. It was still there - so I feel like it's unlikely your laundry will be stolen here. The only downside is that the wifi never seems to connect when I'm there. Might be my bad luck. read more

Reviewing a Laundromat? I know, I know - not too exciting. And it doesn't say much for me, heck I don't even own my own washer and dryer yet.... But I digress..... Once a week I make the quick trip from Dirty Redwood City to the much cleaner & nicer town of San Carlos. This is a great facility: it is clean, quiet and has enough machines to keep most people happy on the busy days. I usually bring my laptop and use their free WiFi, while sitting in my vehicle out front. Trader Joes is right across the street, so I usually do my shopping while the machine is does it's washing. *I think it is pretty common for Laundromats to attract some pretty interesting clientele.. I have twice come across people talking to themselves and carrying on conversations with what appear to be the washing machines* - while visiting this soap and sud establishment (I just thought that was kinda funny and would pass it along). read more

This place was a mess, - tons of lint things dirt on the floor. - I walked in and a man was working on the dryers. - my clothes were put in the dryer there i put each for about 45 mins. yet STILL WERE WET. -you have open the tray and clean the lint. - Burned my hand grabbing my clothes out the dryer. - Man said that they clean the washers out every night, LIE. - did not offer to give me any money back. just a waist of my time. I used to really like this place, but it is not being maintained well & I will be looking for another laundromat. The dryers do not work well. Even when I have them on the highest setting, my towels & sheets come out damp. The washing machines have small dispensers in them for bleach and fabric softener. These dispensers are always full of liquid, left over from strangers' wash cycles. This means that you could be getting the leftover bleach all over your darks. For my part, I have a sensitivity to fabric softener. I do not like the smell of all the perfume on my clothing. So I end up getting unwanted fabric softener on my clothing. I'm done here. At least 30% of the machines are out of order. I went this a.m. & found my warning post-it from 2 weeks ago still on one washer that doesn't empty & spin. Some dryers don't get hot, some washers don't cycle or fill properly. This has been going on from mid-December to late January. Owner repeatedly says he "can't get the Maytag repairman to come out." Duh??? He can't get service for maybe 10 machines?? For 6+ weeks?? It's annoying to wait at busy times for working machines to free up. Owner is good about coming out to return lost money but I'd rather spend an extra dollar elsewhere & get the job done than waste time here. They don't things clean the premises well either - lint traps full, dirt on shelves, half-full beer bottles & trash in the rear parking area. Wi-fi sometimes asks for a password, but it isn't posted on any sign. read more

I'm a new fan of the Bubble and Fluff! This place is simple and great! Nice new front loading machines that really clean your clothes (YAY!) and dryers that work. A previous poster complained that the dryer didn't dry his clothes very well. That was not my experience at all. A helpful tip is to make sure the lint is cleaned out of the screen before starting your drying load. There's a clearly marked drawer below the door that you can pull out to remove the dryer lint. Even with just 50 cents my smallish load got dry. I appreciate that there is WiFi and a little table with chairs for those who wish to work on their laptops. I find the prices are fair too. I like that this is a simple place and that the washers "lock" so I can run out for 30 minutes (the length of the hot cycle) and get something from Walgreen's or Trader Joes across the street without worrying about something happening to my laundry. Parking was easy, close by and free. While my things were drying I picked up a bunch of used dryer sheets off of the floor. I appreciate the reasonable prices for this laundromat and suggest everyone does their part to help keep the floors and tables tidy. I thought I'd updated my review, but I hadn't. Well, when I'm wrong, I admit it. It turned out that the doors were unlocked - but! - the lights were off and it was verrrry dark in there. There was no "Open" sign so I presumed it was closed. As a female alone at an early hour (still totally dark outside), I certainly wasn't going in until there were signs of life. Once the sun came up (I was still waiting in my car), a man walked in and that was when I realized it was open. Hopefully there will be an "Open" sign or at least time-controlled lights so people a) know it's open and b) feel safe. Thank you for your follow-up to my review. Much appreciated. Don't waste your time coming here. Came here on a Sunday morning and 5 out of the 13 normal sized washing machines were out of order. Dryers are at varying levels of functioning. Signs saying that parts have been ordered have been up for months. It's obvious that management doesn't care about this place. read more

Parking is located in the back of laundrymat; it only happens to have 2 spaces available for customers. Traders Joes and Safeway is across the street. It's 624p on a tuesday, and it's extremely quiet here. Their white machines cost $2.00, and it could probably hold 2 loads of laundry; the midsize machines cost $4.00 and it can fit four heavy loads of clothes or a basket full of towels, a comforter,and a blanket (which I manage to accommodate in the machines, with a little bit of room to spare, so it's not overstuffed). Their largest utility machine costs $6.00 and it can fit 6 heavy loads of laundry. This thing is huge, and lots of room! All of the machines happens to be well maintained and clean. The wash is 30 minutes, and the dryer takes 7 minutes. Dryers cost . I give this place 2 stars only because of them having only 2 folding tables, other than that, it's definitely a place I don't mind visiting if I'm in the area of San Carlos read more

Not sure what is going on with this place I've gone a lot over the years but lately the machines are not working. For example today there were 7 out of 16 dryers not working and those that were were not drying very well I had to keep adding money to get my clothes dry. Shouldn't cost 2 dollars to dry!! The washing machines were just as bad with another 7 out of commission. This is not that big of a place. And there are other laundromats that are in better working condition near by. I heard other people complaining about how bad it had gotten and how they wouldn't come back. To bad it is in such bad shape, losing lots of customers. read more

My washer and dryer broke and I needed a place to do the family laundry while I waited for the replacements. I read other reviews and decided on the Bubble and Fluff. I went there for about a month - almost every weekend and brought my 5 year old son along. The Bubble and Fluff was convenient & clean and we never had a problem getting a machine (there are a lot) even thought it was usually pretty busy. There are also extra big washers for comforters etc... which you can get alot of laundry in. The location is great - Trader Joes & Walgreens are across the street - & while our wash was going my son and I went and did some shopping. I read a comment by someone else that their clothes smelled like detergent & I did notice a stronger than usual detergent smell on my clothes - but it didn't really bother me or my family. All in all a clean nice place to do laundry - which is really all you want from a laundromat right? read more
