I've been going to Laurel Cleaners for a few years, mostly for tailoring but also dry cleaning on occasion. They always do a wonderful job, especially on original hem for jeans. Today, though, I became a customer for life! The zipper on my daughter's Halloween costume broke while trying it on at 4pm on October 30. I panicked, and rushed it over to this shop. She took a look and told me she could fix the zipper before noon the next day! After being in panic mode, the service and accommodation was priceless for this mama... and she still only charged me $10 for the emergency fix. I can't say enough about how happy I am I knew to bring it here!! They are amazing. read more

I've been loyal to alterations/dry cleaning places before because with special occasion gowns and attire, you want to make sure you find a person you trust. Pictures in those clothes are heirlooms that may be passed to generations beyond us and our children. I'm so blessed to find Linda down the street from my home. She moved locations and extra thankful to find her again next to my favorite Boba spot! Linda takes her time through the process. I've sent about every challenging alterations her way. She takes one stride at a time(noticed it especially with my wedding gown), she doesn't rush with you during fitting like several places I've been to. Even so, she is super efficient, she works with your completion time requirement, our communication is clear, and I get what I expect every time... often times beyond! I remember during consultations Linda has intense look on her face, and I can tell she's thinking just how she's going to execute. She looks up, below, to the side, asks all the questions I don't think about - it's super cute. She doesn't just measure, pin and send you out the door. I'm so blessed to find her. Linda is obviously deep heartedly passionate about being a tailor and seamstress. I recommend this place to everyone I know. One example of how this business has pure love and passion for what they do, one odd dry cleaning I sent of my dresses, the tassels fell apart. I will no longer go anywhere else for my dry cleaning and tailoring needs. I was in a rut about two weeks ago, trying to find a place that would be able to handle what I needed done in a few days time. The lady on the line answered with such a sweet, but business toned voice. When I told her my situation she said, "Okay, we can do it. No problem." San Carlos was not too far but it was further than the other places I called. However, the other places had some out of the galaxy pricing and many of them were not opened at the listed times. After receiving my measurements, and fitting my requests to the last note, everything fit very well. I was pleasantly surprised at how well, and how fast the work was done. I let her know (and I am embarrassed at how her name escapes now) that I will not go anywhere else for my cleaning and tailoring needs as long as I am in the Bay Area. What's also amazing is that SHE WENT TO SCHOOL TO LEARN WHAT SHE DOES! YES! There is nothing wrong with learning as you go, or being self taught, but there is a sense of peace when you know someone was trained for what they do! What's even more amazing is how humble she was, and that she said, "I tried my best". Well she did it and hit it out of the park! I was attending a wedding on 4/21 as a guest, and the dress I opted to wear and a hole near the waist line. ARGH. It wasn't like this was brand new info. I'd known about this issue for weeks, but I procrastinated. I called Laurel Cleaners at 12pm, and due to the language barrier I think they thought I needed my WEDDING dress altered for that day. They said I neded to come in in oder to asses. I drove over, and the husband and wife duo looked at my dress, and both assured me that the dress would be fixed by 3:30. I left at 12:30, and picked up my repaired dress at 3:00. They actually called me at 2:30 to tell me the dress was ready! It's a busy time of year due to weddings and prom, so I was very thankful Laurel Cleaners was able to squeeze me and take care of my needs! read more

Update... I'm changing my initial review after wearing my dress that I payed more for to get altered than what I bought it for. I didn't understand why my dress kept rising and spinning around my waist after being tailored to fit me; until I turned it inside out to see that the lining wasn't altered and pulls to one side. It doesn't even lay flat. Then he just ironed over the bottom and made a crease so that I looked altered but was not. It's just a baggy mess on the inside. I won't be coming back. I'm so disappointed that I wasted my money expecting great work. -------- This is my 2nd time getting something altered here and although he's pretty good at what he does it gets really frustrating when you ask him about something and he immediately starts saying what he can't do like stopping my pocket from sliding out when my hand is inside without even fully listening or trying. He just says I'll just close the pocket. But when I insist he says well I'll look at it and is able to complete tacking it down in less than 5 mins For an $80 alteration that was charged for a uniform to be tailored you shouldn't have to go thru that every time. I more than likely won't be coming back. I gave 3 stars because the work is really good but the energy is not. read more

Linda is exceptional, not only in delivering excellent customer service for the care of my garments but her sewing skills and thorough fixes of anything I bring in (my grandma's handmade duvet cover that needed reinforced seams, adding patches to my beloved sweatshirt that my Mom purchased for me, and traditional hemming of pants) T's excellent. We had such a great experience working with Linda on curtain alterations for our whole home. We did a remodel last year and earlier this year purchased curtains and sheers for pretty much every room in the house. All needed shortening and some needed two panels to be joined into one. After hearing almost weekly that my jacket would be ready 'next week', I finally retrieved it today (sans repair). It had been languishing at Mr Gao's shop since 13 April & I'd had enough. -no ill will toward the talented Mr. Gao, but I just couldn't take the over-one-month wait anymore. (-not to mention the fact that I no longer live in the area & can't commute down south just to pick up my tailoring.) Mr. Geo is beleaguered, folks. I've been going here for years, and what I appreciate most is the owner's attention to detail in getting out stains on my clothes. He's so patient with me as I point out every stain, he marks each stain with tape, and he'll redo a shirt for free if the stain didn't come out. I know some stains are set and are really hard to get out, but I appreciate his willingness to try and his ability to get out most stains. read more

I am so pleased!! I just picked up my custom shirts and custom suit. I ordered few custom shirts since i was unable to find a perfect fit by getting items off the shelfs even at high end stores. Frank provided an excellent service with both shirts and suit. I was able to choose the fabric that i like for all custom items during the fitting and i never imagined that you could get shirts and suits made for you for such a low price. I had had a great, affordable cleaners spot right down the street, but was running around Laurel one day and stumbled upon this place. I figured, what the heck, I will give this place a go. Easy, peazy, everything ran smoothly. Drop off, pick up, clothes dry-cleaned. Frank, the owner hands me his card, verbally showcasing himself and all his tailoring experience with Bloomingdales and Barcelino. Good for Frank, he planted a seed in my head. Along comes, my hot leather miniskirt, I purchase at Nordstrom's, during a "heavy" stage of my life. What is hotter in the winter than a pair of knee-high winter boots and a leather miniskirt, even if the holidays took their toll on me? All the resolutions start kicking in, the juice and veg cleanse, the promise to eat better foods, work out consistently, no matter what and my skirt starts sliding! Woo hoo. It's too big.... where do I go? To Frank over at Laurel Quality Cleaners, of course! When I dropped off the skirt to get altered, he tells me it will be a couple weeks. Frank is the best dry cleaner guy I have ever worked with. He is fast, efficient, reasonably priced and, funny. I used to go to this other place in Redwood City that was completely overpriced. I liked that it was a small, family owned business but time after time, they constantly would butcher my hemmings on both jeans and jackets. I always told them, "Don't cut them short, if anything make them slightly longer." Without fail, I would get back high waters. I decided to try someone else so I used my handy, dandy Yelp ap to help me find a new dry cleaner within close proximity to the old place I was going to. I came across Laurel Quality Cleaners and everyone raved about Frank so I decided to give him a try. The moment I walked in, Frank was welcoming, nice and funny. He has such a great disposition and I enjoy going to visit him. I had one pair of test jeans for him to hem and I told him I needed it right away. I told him the same thing I told the other place, not too short. On the longer side. I picked up my jeans the day he said they would be ready and they were hemmed perfectly. Not too expensive either considering I told him it was ok to charge me a rush fee since I needed them so fast. He ended up charging me the normal price which was really nice. Since then, I have taken him about 3 additional pants and a jacket I never thought would get fixed because I just couldn't trust the other place. In fact, I buy more jeans now because I have someone to hem them for me right away. Frank is just so great! AND! I have only came here to do alterations, and Frank is one of the best at it in the bay. According to him he was the tailor at a Bloomingdales for ten year before opening his own shop, based on his work it's hard not to believe him. I got a set of slim style suits, prior to alterations it just doesn't look perfect and snug on me. I took it to Frank and discussed how I want the suit to come out. He was very knowledgeable and explained in detail on what needed to be done to achieve the perfect slim fitted look. He even expedited the work for me for charge because I had to travel out of the country for a while. The result was outstanding. Now the suit looks like a set tailor made for me right out of the GQ magazine. The price was very reasonable for the quality and the amount of alteration that was done. I now take all of my alterations and cleaning here because I know my things are in good hands. Frank is a very skilled tailor and he prides himself on his work. He altered, more like reconstructed; a silk bride's maid dress that arrived two sizes too big and did a terrific job. Frank offers superior service and quick alterations at a reasonable price. Frank is simply the best. I won't take things to get altered anywhere else. The original hem on my jeans were amazing. I couldn't tell that anything had been done to them, until I held it about 6 inches from my face (and I have decent vision). He's hemmed suit pants and taken in jackets for me. Some of his prices are more expensive than the cheapest places, but the quality is well worth the price. If you have something cheap and don't care how the job looks, then go somewhere else. However, if you want something done professionally and beautifully, then this is where you should take it. He makes custom shirts and suits as well. I haven't bought any, but with alterations that good, I imagine whole shirts or suits would be great too. read more

Great service, awesome prices! I was very impressed with his tailoring work. I brought in a cute dress I had purchased at a bargain price because the seams were ripped, and he fixed them up good as new for $15. Quite a deal, and the seams are now super strong. I test drove the dress out this past weekend when I went dancing with some friends, and it held together perfectly! Frank is not only a tailor, he is a magician. I just bought a new suit, and when it arrived the pants were size 35, and not 36, which I wear. The fit was not flattering and I had no time to exchange. Frank was able to coax out the fabric and give me a comfortable fit on the pants. He also shortened the sleeves on my coat, and tapered the arms to make it look more natural. Overall, an excellent fit. I also had a pair of jeans hemmed. When Frank asks if you want to match the original hem, he isn't kidding. He stressed the bottom fabric in the same idiosyncratic wear pattern as before, complete with a few tattered threads where I always drag my heel, so the fit is great and they look untailored. It is worth the extra charge. I can only imagine his cleaning services are great as well. read more

I called ahead to ask for a quote on getting 3 suits and a dress shirt dry cleaned. The man over the phone quoted it being $30 and I thought that was reasonable so I brought my stuff to them. When I go to pick up my clothes the bill comes out to be $78?! If I wanted to pay that much I would have gone to Mulberry. Never coming back here again. read more

Low quality alterations and cleaners at astronomical prices. I had them alter and dry clean my suit. $287 later, I realized when they shortened the sleeves, they did not bother with the lining. Just folded and tucked it in. I simply asked to correct it, Frank denied any involvement. Hmm....guess, Hugo Boss somehow sneaked into my house and messed up Frank's work. Can't believe this Laurel Street "couturier" even attempts alterations and claims that he can produce a suit for about $800. I'll take my chances with Hugo Boss from now on. read more

I asked for dry cleaning, rather than wash and hang, for an expensive shirt and it came back shrunk with chipped buttons. Which means it was wasn't dry cleaning. Thanks for ruining a good shirt and overcharging in the process. read more
