I have gotten several items hemmed this past year -- several pairs of work pants, a formal gown, a casual maxi dress -- and I even had a pair of pants with a large flair taken in so the flair looked more proportional. (What can I say, I'm a 90s kid, I can't resist flared jeans!) I appreciate Sarah's keen eye and judgement when it comes to alterations. I recently had a custom project of converting a kimono into a two-piece set, and Sarah's work was just as I had imagined! I will be coming back for other tailoring projects. I find her pricing to be reasonable. Just make sure to bring cash or check when you pick up. She provides the price and turnaround time upfront, and I have been satisfied with every service. Magic Alterations is conveniently located right on El Camino. There is a small parking lot for Kumon and other neighboring businesses immediately before the shop. For those of you that have the patience to hold a needle and thread, sew, stitch, whatever, bless your heart. Sarah is one of those people. She's very talented and pays attention to details. Now keep in mind, she won't do work on just any old piece of clothing; it must be quality and worth fixing up. Her craft is an art and she prefers to work on what she thinks will be of a substantial value. I love that; a connoisseur of fine clothing! Dropping off and picking up was super laid back. I was in a workshop all week and couldn't make it to pick up when she called. It was so nice that she explained to me, "just relax, it will be here." This shop is aptly named, they really do magic ! I bought a gorgeous robe at a vintage shop, but it was a small and i am not a small. im not even a medium, so the robe was could barely get around me. Somehow, Some way, Sarah was able to pull fabric from other places in the garment, and now it fits me perfectly! Sarah is my hero! My ballroom dress zipper split at 3pm the day before my competition. I phoned a bunch of places and they all said "sorry, we're closing" or "not enough time". Then I called Magic Alterations and she told me to bring the dress in. In spite of closing an hour later Sarah said she could do it. And she did. I picked up the garment, the work was excellent, the fit was perfect and the pocket I had her add on, was a good size. Sarah the magic tailor magicked my clothing! I had a wedding to go to and my bridesmaid dress wasn't particularly well made. Sarah had to cut me out of the broken zipper. It also needed to be taken in and hemmed (and the hem had a delicate satin ribbon to replace). It was a really big job AND I had a second garment that needed adjustment. She got it done on terribly short notice and now everything fits to a tee. She'll have all my future business. I'm so grateful and so lucky to have found her. You are too! Congrats! She does great work on men's tailoring. It's pricey, but the fit is great. She's very flexible and can adjust to your specifications if you're clear about what you need. She's also really great with names, and the customer service has a personal touch to it. read more

Needed a bridesmaid dress altered (surprise surprise) and decided to stop by here. The woman was extremely nice. She gave me a quote and together, we went over (very thoroughly) all the alterations that would be done to the dress. I was told to come back in a few weeks for a fitting. The first fitting went very well. It looked like only minor work needed to be done before the dress was completely finished. However, in subsequent fittings, one of the straps never sat flat when I tried it on so that took an extra few days but she was very detail-oriented and adamant about making sure the alterations were perfect! It was great to have someone care so much about the dress. Would definitely return for any future alteration needs. No credit cards accepted. read more

I don't write many reviews but this place deserves one! I first started coming here when I got an interview for my current job back last year (mid 2014). My pants needed hemming and my entire suit needed dry clean/press. The owner had my suit ready to go the next day knowing I needed it quickly without any extra charges. She simply is a genuinely nice person and does a FANTASTIC job. Her turnaround is fast if you need it. Prices are standard, but work is excellent and very much worth it. I don't come in here that often, but the owner always remembers me and it appears she does most of her customers. Very IMPRESSIVE! It is just who she is.
