I love that you can buy all kinds of clothing items and they really do have some fun things like holiday shirts. I got the chopped brisket sandwich and a drink. The sandwich was great! Well of course I recommend Bucees! I am a big fan of stopping here anytime we go on a trip and pass one. They have very clean restrooms, great food and beverage selections ( the $8 chopped bbq turkey sandwich is my fave) and tons of gas pumps offering lower prices than anyone else around. The dog park looks very nice but you rarely see any dogs over there. Pay attention to the traffic because my tip is that you can generally pass by the first crowded entrance and find a second one. Saves so much time and aggravation. read more

Well, this was my first experience and so I don't have any other location to compare it to but....here we go. Pulling in is an experience in itself. I've never been to a gas station with so many pumps where I still had to get down to pump number 226 to fill up. Definitely not a complaint but just something I've never seen. The one thing I learned about Bucees is that they don't allow semi's which I'm a bit conflicted with. Seems crazy to lose that much business when the truckers would be bringing them so much revenue however; this location is not hurting for customers. The joint was packed! So many options on food, snacks, souvenirs, home goods in a "gas station". Everyone was able to find something to buy and the prices were really reasonable. The bathrooms were clean and there was plenty of staff. There had to be hundreds of people in there and it took us merely minutes to check out. Anyhow, I highly recommend stopping just for the experience and to at least get a picture read more

Wow. I was expecting just a truck stop, but this place was great. The entirety of the interior was super clean, including the bathrooms. The staff was incredibly helpful and easy to find if you had a question or needed help. Besides being a convenience store (and truck stop) they have a variety of food made in-house, which was surprisingly good (I had a pulled pork sandwich). I also had to finally try the Beaver Nuggets I had heard so much about, and they were delicious. The jerky bar was also incredible, with so many options of beef jerky, turkey jerky, and more. It is definitely worth stopping in if you're passing by. A great place to refuel, recharge, have a nature break, and get some food and snacks. The perfect complement to a road trip. read more

For the record, we LOVE the one in Leeds Alabama. We stopped in Athens Alabama on the way home from a trip and saw this HUGE car wash and I decided to get the road grime off the car.... That was a mistake .. I asked a few times if f the wash was safe and the attendant told me absolutely, he takes his BMW through every day. I just bought the car... it was just totally detailed.... When I came out the entire drivers side and hood were scratched.... I know it may not scratch other cars but I noticed the brushes didn't lubricate before they got on the car and also noticed they didn't self clean.. things happen... I was upset but I was more upset at the response of the store... They told me I had to file a claim and it takes weeks and it took about 10 days... I got a response that said they found no issues with their car wash... I asked them to show me the video, the told me they didn't send them out... and I thought it mighty convenient the video with the evidence the car was not scratched up going in can't be sent out.. Now they are ignoring me... I got a manager in the claims area that just said "we stand behind our decision..." No one was nice or helpful... Now I stand behind having to pay to have paint correction done... I understand equipment fails... things happen... but stand behind it.. read more

Ever since my first visit to Buc-ee's in Calhoun, GA, I usually try to map out my road trips to ensure a Buc-ee's is passed along the way. And on my recent trip from Nashville to Panama City Beach, this Bud-ee's in Athens, Alabama was circled for a stop both ways! As with most Buc-ee's, the magic is all inside the store where there are walls of candy, cases of jerky, shelves of baked goods, vats of sweet tea and coffee, and of course beef brisket served at least 13 different ways. When I hit a Buc-ee's I usually beeline it to the chocolate candy wall, then swing through for a cup of sweet tea and finish off with scoping the new Buc-ee's shirts and hats. Once you find your way back outside, the gas is pretty fairly priced. And if gas is what you are after, then lucky for you they have over 100 pumps for you to choose from! In addition to the gas pumps and all the goods inside, this location has a car wash, which makes it a unique Buc-ee's location, at least to me. Normally I don't get my vehicle washed in the middle of a road trip, but I couldn't pass up the discounted gas and opportunity to rid my windshield of bugs. Overall, this Buc-ee's is a great spot! One that I will certainly come back to when I head down or up 65 again! read more

We heard a lot about Buc-ee's before going on this recent road trip, but this was our first stop. All I can say is...Wow!! Someone described this to us as a WaWa on steroids and they weren't kidding. When you're on a highway where there's a Buc-ee's, you start seeing signs 100 miles away. It's a stop for gas and food that's the largest I've ever seen. This location actually had a lane off the exit ramp leading right into it. First the gas...there must have literally been at least 100 pumps. The gas prices were the lowest we saw anywhere and most of the pumps had cars. When you walk into the store, you're just struck by how huge the place is. From coffee, to barbecue, to fudge, sandwiches, bakery, it was all there, plus lots more! People have told us they've spent an hour at this road stop and I believe it. The bathrooms deserve mention...they're huge and exceptionally clean! It's an experience visiting this place. We stopped in another in Tennessee the next day and it was exactly the same. If you're on the road and see signs for Buc-ee's, do yourself a favor and stop in to see what it's like. Hey, they have their own mascot who'll greet you! read more

First-time adventure at Buc-ee's! We were returning to Nashville, TN, from Birmingham, AL, and saw a Buc-ee's off the interstate in Athens, AL. The Hype is real! I was like a kid at a Fair. They have ANY and EVERYTHING under one roof- food, shopping, and, best of all, clean huge bathrooms. Impressive! Staff were smiling, laughing, and engaging with the customers. O-M-G, and when Buc-ee's mascot came out, a line immediately formed for pictures. The barbecue, fudge, and coffee aroma filled the air as patrons waited patiently for service. We did enjoy the carwash that was quick and effective. It was fun, but I can't see going out of my travel plans just to hit a Buc-ee's. Buc-ee's has opened on Athens, Alabama. Buc-ee's has been expanding throughout the southeastern United States and this location is just off of Interstate 65 and is not far from the Alabama/Tennessee line. Buc-ee's is as much a tourist trap as it is a gas station and despite the vast parking lot, parking was still a bit of an issue. The gas here is competitively priced, but the inside is what makes Buc-ee's shine. They have food options ranging from barbecue to kolaches to beef Jerry and desserts. They also have touristy type souvenirs for sale. I am confident that this location will continue to do well and is definitely a good addition to the community. Buc-ee's is now in northern Alabama and I would recommend a visit here. Overall, I will give this particular location of Buc-ee's five stars. read more

I've heard of folks driving from miles around to eat one of those delicious brisket sandwiches. And, I've heard of the famous gas station with what seems like a hundred pumps. And when they built one in Athens, AL I had to check it out. I was BLOWN away. This place is HUGE and the ambiance is very friendly and inviting. The staff are friendly and the store has a tremendous amount of buc-ee branded gear (from t-shirts to home decor). Go check these guys out. It's worth the drive. First time I've got a complaint about the Buc-ee's at I- 65 within the last year that would make my sixth stop today I got my usual sausage, egg cheese croissant. I did try the apple pie for the first time which was delicious but when I got out to my vehicle to eat, it had very little eggs and it wasn't sausage. It was bacon. It's the first time that the eggs were rolling out of the croissant and didn't have a whole lot of meat on it the other times my sausage, egg cheese croissants were awesome overfilled with eggs, plenty of sausage so they might want to check to see who is making them today and maybe give them another lesson. Stopped in at this location in Athens, AL heading home from Florida. Gas was a lot cheaper here and there was no wait at the pumps. Inside was a little crazy with so many people, but bathroom and food lines moved quickly. Treated myself to a chopped brisket sandwich and some potato salad, which hit the spot. Stocked up on dark chocolate "overbites" and other candy and snacks for the family. We were in and out in about 20 minutes, and back on the road - which was great. My very first time inside a Buc-ees. My friend and I stopped here to fill up and take a little bit of a bathroom/snack break. My friend told me prepare to be amazed and boy I was I. This is the first Buc-ees you will see coming into AL from TN. There are many signs posted along the interstate. Gas was reasonably priced vs back home in KY. And KY does have a Buc-ees but we were far from it. The inside was clean and well kept. And from going inside, I can see the fuss is all about. They have food of all kinds basically. We were there during breakfast rush but we only got the Buc-ees chips and some ICEES. I was happy I could mix Red and Blue together and I haven't had an ICEE in many years. They also have a bakery and a refrigerated section. They have many Knick knacks, clothing etc. you name it they probably have it. Definitely was worth checking out. read more

Places like this were made for me. Combine a gift shop, road side attraction, and a Cracker Barrel and you have my version of heaven. Everything from tote bags to stuffed animals, bathing suits and smokers (for cooking meats) are all available for purchase. Their snacks are fun, and I am in love with the beaver nuggets! Yes that's what they are called! They are like kettle corn puffs. Other candy and chips can be found as well. Need something more hearty!? Go straight to the center where hot brisket is being sliced for breakfast tacos and sandwiches. The brisket taco was amazing! The sausage one, not so much but you can't win them all. Just give me all the brisket. (Also the staff sang every time the cut a new brisket. Great place to stop and take a break from driving while on a road trip. They have everything you can think of and a large place to stretch your legs. Plenty of gas pumps to fill up the tank and a fully staffed car wash to get the bugs and grime off of your vehicle. They have great food and well known for their barbecue but have many other options as well. This is more than just a regular rest stop gas station, it is an experience in itself. read more
