If I could give zero stars I would. It used to be a good place to go, however now it is going downhill. The restaurant smells musty, that should have been our first sign. The antipasto salad was wilted and warm, that should have been enough. It was my husband's birthday and that is where he wanted to go so we stayed. We ordered Chicken Carbonara, Pesto chicken, and Baked Ziti. We had four different households all end up with a bad case of food poisoning over the weekend. We were able to isolate it down to the Chicken Carbonara, that is what we all ate. I would not recommend going back, it has definitely gotten worse. Waiting to hear back from them to see what they are going to do about the cases of food poisoning. read more

Came on a Thursday night to enjoy a friends birthday! We opted out for no alcoholic drinks since it was a "family dinner" so my review will be strictly just on the food and service! Our waiter was very helpful and very nice, took our drink orders immediately and served them quick. My wife and I both ordered a small Caesar salad and a large size Spicy Chicken Rigatoni. The Caesar was really good you can't complain with a house salad, especially from here! The Spicy Chicken Rigatoni was amazing! Everything just tasted great! I also had some of their Chicken Carbonara and even though in my opinion there was an excessive amount of peas it was a great dish to try! Highly recommend this restaurant to anyone that wants to enjoy a nice night out for dinner or just to celebrate a special occasion! I ate here a couple of times when it first opened. It wasn't that good. I have been here 3 times in the last 4 months. Wow what a change! The food is excellent! I would suggest their: Stuffed shells Stuffed chicken chicken parmesan Spaghetti and meatballs We have also tried the baked ziti and pasta alfredo. They are good. Just not a personal favorite. I love the location (Portofino) because it is by water & there is foliage & statues & I am drawn to it. The ambience is no different from any other Buca Di Beppo, but I LOVE IT. VERY Italian & "homey". There was a large group by our table & it was very noisy & they were celebrating a birthday. It is a happy place to go for that sort of thing but it's hard to visit or hear very well & there's no such thing as a "quiet area" or table there, lol. We had the small Prosciutto Stuffed Chicken (THE SAUCE WAS AWESOME-SAUCE!!!) & a side of rosemary potatoes and we ended up with food leftover & we eat A LOT. For an appetizer, we had Mozzarella Caprese. Here is where the score lowers. The Mozzarella Caprese was BLAND. The rosemary potatoes seemed dry & lacked flavor as well. Lastly, my partners drink was refilled and mine was the same level his was AND I WANTED A REFILL TOO- but the server took off too fast to refill HIS (he did not ask her too she asked him because she noticed it was low- SO WAS MINE and she did not even glance at me OR my drink- just at my date and his. This place is terrible!! Food was bland. Calamari was like chewing rubber. Our waiter was ridiculously slow and forgetful. Great visit! Had the small Mac and cheese-it is our favorite macaroni and cheese sauce of all restaurants! Perfect! Also had a small spaghetti with meat sauce -melted butter on noodles and meat sauce on the side so everyone was happy. I do not like Pepsi which is what they have now so (I usually drink Diet Coke and family drinks coke)I got sweet tea and it was very good! We also had lemonade. Waited 35 minutes for a curbside to go order. They don't seem to have their curbside process worked out yet. Lots of others waiting too. They hand everyone a paper check to sign, which doesn't help with distancing. They don't have a system for keeping track which order goes to each car, so the employees waste time circling the parking lot looking for the owner of each order. My family has been coming here for close to 20 years. In the past 2-3 years, this place has gone down hill tremendously. The AC temperature is always freezing cold, the service is below a 1 star. They never bring menus when you sit down, you have to ask for them. They got frustrated when we simple asked for another plate to separate the pasta and salad. The food has also gotten more expensive and lesser quality over the past few years. Smaller portions, usually is warm-cold. I cannot believe the audacity of this restaurant! First, I will say the food was good, it always has been. However, the service was terrible. We came here for my dads birthday and have been coming to this place since they opened. We have been here literally at least 50 times. We have had birthdays, anniversaries, baby showers, graduations, etc. here forever! We have always gotten the Chicken Saltimbocca($37.99) and have always ordered it on a bed of plain pasta(which they usually charged us $8.99 for it which and we have gladly paid) amongst other items. Well today, we were told that the only way they can sell us plain pasta for our dish is to charge us for a Spaghetti Marinara($18.99 or $28.99)!!!!! We asked for a manager and they confirmed. This is a ridiculous policy and unfortunately, we won't be coming back. I told the manager she needed to read the book The $6,000 Egg, or as they will see in this case, it will be more like the $20K Spaghetti. read more

Ok here's the conclusion I've come to. I grew up around Italians and good Italian restaurants who knew how to cook good Italian food Buca di Beppo is not anywhere near good Italian food. It's just a poor example of it. Their prices are way over priced and portions are small for the price. Our table ordered a new pizza they had on their menu a spicy sausage and arugula looked good in the picture lots of sausage. When it arrive we all had to fight to get a piece of sausage on our pieces. Service was very poor waitress could have cared less and attitude sucked. We arrived at 6:30 and no wait time place was only about 1/3 full on a Saturday night so that speaks volumes when most restaurants in the area have waits during this time. Do yourself a favor keep your money in your purse or wallet or find another place to eat just don't spend it here. read more

Seemed like it would've been a wonderful place but they only offer 2 sizes of portions when ordering their food. It's called "family style" where the "small" feeds 3-4 and the "large" feeds 5-6. My boyfriend and I went alone together and we had to leave because we weren't cable of either eating all of the small size or bringing home leftovers at the time. My in-laws are fans of Buca and I had never been. We arrived on Saturday a little after noon. We were seated right away, but we waited quite a while to be approached for drinks. I assumed we may have arrived along with a few parties or the lunch crowd. We then waited a long while for the entrees to arrive. The portions, as stated on the menu, are large since this is a family style Italian restaurant and are meant to be shared. Each entree can feed 3-5ppl. There were 4 of us and we ordered the "small" prosciutto stuffed chicken and the "small" lasagna. There was plenty of food leftover. I enjoyed the flavors of the stuffed chicken. The lasagna was said to come straight out of the oven, but it was luke-warm at best. They brought the candelabra out for my father in laws birthday and sang to him, which was fun. I could see how this place would be cost effective for bigger parties, but honestly can't imagine going back when there's only a couple of us. They do provide decent coupons on their email list though. There's also a unique booth in the kitchen you can reserve. read more

I have been to several Buca locations over the years and have come to expect a certain level of service and food. I was severally disappointed tonight which is consistent with my last few visits. We encountered several issues: -The room was freezing. When mentioned to the waiter, he said it felt good because he was running around. Customers want to eat comfortably. - The waiter brought us our appetizer but no silverware. We had to ask another waiter for utensils to eat. Instead of just grabbing us a set he went to get our waiter. - The appetizer was barely above room temperature- the buca trio platters mozarella wasn't melted nor was the stuffing in the mushrooms hot. The stuffing inside, at the least, should have been piping hot. The waiter never checked to see how the appetizer was until we were finished with it. - The bread came after the appetizer was finished. -The quattro forno was also barely warm. Cheese in pasta is enjoyed warm and bubbly and all of these except the one with the chicken sausage was barely warm. -Even though we mentioned to the waiter at the start of the meal that it was my birthday, nothing else was mentioned by the waiter for the remainder of the evening, not even when the check was brought. - We realized the waiter was working Christmas and we appreciated Buca being open on the holiday but the waiter mentioned it no less than THREE times at how much running he's done today and how busy they are and that he's working on Christmas. We get it and we appreciate it, which was reflected in the tip regardless of the poor service, however to throw it in the customers face constantly is unprofessional. No manager was ever near our table and the waiter never checked how the appetizer was for us to tell him it was barely warm. By the time the entree arrived and was not hot either, we were already resigned to the fact that our meal was going to remain at that level. Overall, it is the flavor of the food, not the service or prices, that bring me very occasionally back to Buca. For the price of a meal for two here at about $100 not counting alcohol, better service is expected. read more
