The service was horrible and our sever was not only rude but was just really irritated and looked to be over whelmed with two tables, and he had a very aggressive attitude. Anytime I review an Italian place (especially American style), I think I'll have to qualify it with a disclaimer. That being, my wife is Italian and owned a restaurant on Lago Maggiore for 7 years...that, and my experiences dining in Italy have caused me to gradually become a bit of a snob when it comes to Italian restaurants. So normally, I really wouldn't have any desire to go to Buca di Beppo...but in this instance, I went with a group of co-workers - about 14 of us. We had a room to ourselves, which was nice...and I have to say, I liked the decor - the pictures everywhere, covering all things Italian, much of it from the 50's and 60's eras. And really, you can't have too many pictures of Sophia Loren, no sir. Now to the food...they bill it as "authentic Italian", and...well...it's not. Maybe authentic American-Italian, but what you eat here is not very similar at all to what you'll find in Italy. We started with some calamari and bruschetta...the former of which was a little too heavily breaded, the latter of which was fine but unremarkable. I imagine the family style thing can be a bit of a challenge at times, but I sat in a booth with 3 others, and we came up with three entrees and a salad without too much difficulty. The ceasar salad was okay, nothing special, but then I didn't really expect anything special. My favorite entre was the penne arrabbiata, because it had plenty of spicy kick to it...although the two pieces of sausage on top weren't much to share between the four guys at the table. There was a grilled salmon with pesto that was just...odd. I wouldn't recommend it. Chicken marsala was unremarkable. Sort of a recurring theme, unremarkable...nothing was horrible, nothing was great. However, the service was attentive and friendly...I enjoyed the "Italian Margarita", and had no problems whatsoever getting it, or my water, re-filled. Also, most of the people in our party seemed to really enjoy everything, so it's probably just as much a matter of personal taste as anything else. Our last trip earned Buca the coveted fourth star. We tried their pasta sampler, and the chef had turned up the flavor considerably, especially with the anise-rich coarse ground sausage that filled the large shell pasta. The other pastas were also flavorful and very fresh. We we seated at the Kitchen Table, which, not surprisingly, is in the kitchen. It's not the spot for a romantic meal (or a meal with overactive children, since it's in a working commercial kitchen) but it's a fun spot for a small group of foodies to observe the goings-on. Some changes: They've added a "for one" section on the dinner menu, so you can order for one if there's something that you don't want to share. Had a great appreciation luncheon their yesterday. First time having a company luncheon with Buca and would do it again. Brittany was a pleasure to work with, she made everything easy. Our meal was served family style and it felt like we were eating with family. We had lunch for 27 and took a big doggie bag back to the office and will feed several folks today. 7 of us went there today on new years day for dinner, also my birthday celebration. We went early anticipating a crowd if we went any later. We were seated right away and our server Melissa was on point. Explained the menu to us, got us our drinks quickly,kept up a steady supply of bread and overall did a fantastic job. The food was pretty darn good and we had enough for all of us. I think if I have any issue it would be the overall price for the entire meal. Now we did have a salad and drinks/alcohol and even a giant dessert but I think it was still more than we thought it was worth I guess for an occasion and ambiance and large party seating it was on par. I think my feelings about the price may be more of guilt that my son in law foot the entire bill. Because honestly it was good despite so.e rocky reciews4from others. Again we went early so we would not have to wait or tie up tables but we still spent 2 hours there. The stuffed chicken parmesan was great as was a chicken dish that Angela and I shared. The stuffed shells had a spicy sausage in it, it wasn't just cheese like I thought it was so we weren't down with that dish bit the others were spot on. The spaghetti with meat sauce was good and the cesar salad was good too. Those two items were over priced in my opinion. The salad was like 22 dollars and the spaghetti was 19 also we ordered a side of mashed potatoes at 10bucks. So just with those 3 items I do think they were overpriced. We knew the price and ordered it anyway so the fault is ours hence the 4 stars. I would recommend if you're not on a budget for sure. I have eaten at Buca di Beppo many times and I've always enjoyed their food. Generous portions of amazing Italian cuisine that never lacks in flavor. I would like to complement their kitchen, I have never had any less than great food there. (The cheesy garlic bread and apple Gorgonzola salad are a must have.) The service is hit or miss depending on how busy it is. I recommend going elsewhere on any holiday unless you would like your entrees before your salad or bread, don't mind waiting for refills, and don't mind bussing your own silverware. Also, depending on where you are seated, you may be in a room with "that guy", you know the one, that you hear over everyone else, and makes everyone talk louder just to compensate. I pulled out a decibel meter just to check, and the room we were in rated as loud as a blender! So in short, go on a weekday, not when it's busy. read more

Our family has been going to this restaurant for years. Celebrating birthdays, Thanksgiving dinners, etc. My daughter and I ate there this week and one thing was super clear: the prices are going up while food quality is going down. We split a small order of calamari and a large order of fettuccine alfredo with chicken. I had a glass of house wine and my daughter drank soda. $71 before tip. The only good item was the calamari. The chicken tasted so bad (even under the heavy sauce) that I worried whether it was spoiled. The wine was so bad that I didn't finish it (trust me, I'm no wine snob). Lastly, throughout the meal they were playing cheesy 60s pop music over the speakers. ... The 5th Dimension anyone?! Not the Italian standards that they've always played. Not going back. This review is specific to this location. The food at Buca di Beppo is always a great treat. They always have great huge portions to share with your family and they're all very tasty. I'm always most impressed with their dessert menu than anything. The cons to this location: If only someone in the restaurant knew anything about the menu and the wine. At the time I was visiting this location, there was a special for bottles of wine. However, after asking several questions regarding which other wines they had for sale, they waitress AND THE BARTENDER both drew blanks. If you're going to be a semi-Italian restaurant PLEASE know something about wines. It's your obligation. My entire experience of this restaurant was similar to the wine incident. First of all the girl that seated us wasn't too friendly and then our waiter seemed to not be happy to be at work. We were very friendly and nice but he just seemed annoyed. We ordered an appetizer and realized there was a piece of metal (like a Brillo pad) in our calamari. I set it on my plate and showed the waiter. I had my daughter's 16th birthday dinner. I went in a couple of days before to make the reservation. They offered a banquet menu, but I preferred to order from the menu the day of event. I ordered the cake at the restaurant, they charge you a fee if you bring in your own cake. We got the chocolate cake, kids loved it but it was too rich for me! FYI, they say the pasta can feed 5 people...more like 8-10, if your not big eaters and have several dishes to share. Wife and I originally were craving mexican food, but it was Christmas Day and most places were closed. We saw the parking lot packed at this Italian restaurant and decided to give it a try. Went inside and unless you had a reservation, you would be told that it was about a 2 1/2 hour wait, being Christmas and all. I asked the host if they had a bar, he said yes and you could even sit at the booths back there. Why didn't he offer that after the 2 1/2 hour wait? Oh well, sat at the bar and was immediately greeted by Nicholas and Adam the bar servers. These guys are a definite asset too this restaurant. They are very professional yet personable and fun. After visiting for a business lunch one day and loving my pasta dish and REALLY loving the polenta side dish, I took my family shortly there-after but made the mistake of going on a Saturday mid-afternoon. That is not a good time to visit a chain restaurant - between shifts - and also chain restaurants usually get their seafood on Mondays and here it was late in the week, Saturday. The polenta was inedible. The manager told me "Sir, we do refrigerate unsold food for later reheating and serving in accordance with our policy." Wife's shrimp dish was fishy-smelling, so we got up, paid and left. Update: Promoted to two stars b/c they did apologize. I would never, EVER, consider eating there again, though. Went there for a birthday party with about 8 people. We reserved the Pope room, which is really cool if you have a big group. This place is really perfect for large get-togethers since all of the food is a la carte and comes in gigantic portions meant for sharing. And my goodness is the food good. It's like the Italian grandmother you always wish you had cooking for all of you and your friends. This go-round, we had the garlic bread, gnocchi, chicken saltambocca, and lasagna. Everything was excellent. Wine was very reasonably priced... $35 for a 1.5L of their house chianti, which was quite good. We ended the meal with coffees and a glass of sambuca. Had reservations at 1815 tonight that were booked on open table. Restaurant got the days confused in their reservation system. When I talked to the manager about this and told her about the email reservation and gave her the confirmation I'd she basically said so sad too bad. She was very rude and unwilling to rectify the situation. Finally she agreed to sit us on the patio. The service on the patio was horrible. We saw our waiter 4 times in an hour and a half, once to collect the monies at the end of the night. Overall this time the experience was horrid. We went for Valentine's day and everything was great. I'd been meaning to try this place because of a coupon they sent to my new apt 2 years ago, but never made it. I am so glad to be invited to the Elite event, and it *blew* my mind. The decor was great, I LOVE their pictures on the wall, it's busily decorated so plenty to entertain your eyes. The food was really good, the pasta at least. I usually don't eat or expect much protein at an Italian restaurant tho, that's like going to an ice cream shop and ask for Lobster, JK. I wasn't a big fan of the bread, meatball and fish. I LOVE everything else, from their salad to pasta, Rigatony, Shrimp Fra Diavolo.Fried Calamari and Spicy shrimp was amazing also. Oh and their balsamic was awesome. They said you could dine inside the kitchen too, i thought that was pretty cool. The portion is huge, since its a family restaurant. I wouldn't recommend coming by yourself because you might end up eating one dish and its left over for 2 days, unless leftover is your thing then this is your heaven. And that's me. I keep coming back to this place over and over again and I have still not had a bad experience. I love their food, it's delicious and reminds me of old style Italian cooking. Reviewers who are claiming the food is so expensive are missing the point of this place. The entrees are designed to be shared. My wife and I can easily get full on one small entree and when dining with another couple we get a large or two small of different entrees. Once you factor in that (and I always get a substantial coupon in my email) then you realize what a great value it is. I eagerly suggest their pizza which I love. Everyone who's had it agrees that their chocolate cake (also a huge helping) is the best they've ever had. This place is different from everything else and that's what I love about it. The eclectic interior design was the perfect place for some funky monkeys like ourselves - although we there there for over 6 hours because we got lost in the jungle of hallways and portraits of naked women. Keep an eye out, because one of our own, Gregory Oppel, never made it out with the rest of us - legend has it, he's been made into a Mr. Beast Burger Patty™. As far as the food goes, we had more fun saying the name of the restaraunt while doing slightly offensive italian hand gestures than eating the actual food, but the experience was a 10/10. The cheesecake tasted eerily similar to the frozen cheesecake I bought at Sam's last weekend... but we won't think too hard about that. For apps had the sample trio which only the calamari was par--fried mozzarella was like bulk bought standard and the spinach dip was highly bland as was the Shrimp Florentine which we had to drench in Parmesan cheese, salt/pepper and butter. Wanted to give Buca a try due to a bank card incentive. Sadly a very expensive taste testing experience for apps and a pasta dish for 2 at $75-some dollars for 2 persons. Ggggrrrr... First time ever visiting this restaurant and I was a little put off about how you share your food. It comes in gigantic portions. I'm really weird about food guys. I don't really like to eat in front of people and I really don't like the idea of a community plate. So picking my food off a plate in the middle of the table where everyone is watching me pick up food makes me incredibly nervous. Like an invasion of privacy. It's weird. Seriously.. The quality of the food was decent. Not the best Italian food I've had, but this is a chain restaurant so it's what I expected. Seeing as you get portions big enough to feed anywhere from 2-6 people, the prices aren't bad. Would I have come here on my own. No. Will I come back? Buca di Beppo is one of the few chain restaurants that can feel like an original restaurant. Everything is served in ginormous family-style portions... which just brings me back to family dinners on Sundays in California. We went with a very large group, and were seated at the "Pope Table" in the Pope Room. They have a bunch of pictures on the wall of various popes, and a bust of the most recent pope in an acrylic display case in the middle of a large lazy susan on the table. We had great fun moving the pope's gaze around to point at various people in our party... something about seeing the Pope watching you eat... can be creepy, but a good time was had by all. Really its the best to experience Buca di Beppo when everyone shares their entrees... you get to try a bite or two of something you would have never ordered! I think its great. We ordered the classic fettuccine alfredo, and it is by far the best fettuccine alfredo I have had in years!! We also tried the stuffed shells, and the chicken parmesan... all that were fantastic. So my family made reservation 9-5-2021. Upon entering we walk through the bar and the temp was perfect we get back to our seating area and it was muggy and straight uncomfortable..the host was quick to move us to a new area under the vent and same thing no air flowing was really hot and muggy inside only nice area was by the bar. Was going to be my first time trying the place out and at first I thought they ware closed due to no cars in their parking lot. I thought oh well that means fast service and that wasn't the case.
