Been a semi regular here for years, and this is our absolute favorite restaurant in Grosse Pointe, by a mile. I rarely review anything, but seeing the rating dumbfounded me and I had to. Bucci and his family and staff have always treated us exceptionally well, and the food is phenomenal, every single time. We sit at the bar, typically. Open kitchen concept. Waitress was very rude, gave us two slices of bread each while every other table got a basket. Feta bake came with nothing to eat it with no crackers etc. , we were rushed, food was average and bland, we were asked several times "are you done?". It was made very clear that they are not interested in young successful professionals as clients! read more

Consistency in the restaurant business can be tricky. Bucci in my long time love affair with them has been consistently very good. Restaurants come and go. There is new competition in the Grosse Pointes but Bucci remains one of the best. The service the food always good. read more

We came on a Saturday night and were lucky enough to get a seat at the bar. Very modern and spacious! The best part is that it surrounds the kitchen which is open so you can see your food being made! We got: cosmos, arugula salad, beet salad, bread, veal, linguine pescadore, chocolate gelato and hazelnut cake. Everything was spectacular. The decor was warm and cozy and service was on point. My wife and I had dinner with 2 other couples last night. Food was fantastic. We started with calamari, artichoke tosca, and sausage and peppers. I had chicken and shrimp florentine, and got to sample the hot hot linguini and chicken Parmesan. The waiter was very attentive and poured wine every time our glass got low. We all got to sample the tiramisu and salted caramel ice cream - both were amazing. We had a reservation and were seated right away. Kind of dressy casual, clean, simple decor. The chef's knew my friend an came out to chat with us all. The bar/kitchen looked like a good place for a date. Looking forward to going again. read more

I've visited this restaurant more times than I can count, but after last night, I'm officially done. The food has always been mediocre--nothing remarkable--but the real issue is the wait staff. With the exception of Gina, the level of rudeness from the servers is unlike anything I've encountered elsewhere as a paying customer. For example, my daughter-in-law once asked a waiter (not Louis--though he's no gem either) how one of the specials had been received by other diners. His reply? "I don't have a report to share with you." Completely unnecessary and unprofessional. Louis is only marginally better, and the other female server (again, not Gina) is just as unpleasant. After enduring another lukewarm meal and the same dismissive attitude from staff, I've decided enough is enough. It's clear this behavior is tolerated--if not modeled--by management. Save your money and skip the aggravation. There are far better places to dine. read more

Building is very non de script with no signage. Ambiance inside is small inviting dining area with large sitting bar with view of open kitchen. Wait staff was lacking. Very intrusive a few times bringing dishes and setting them up in front of us while interrupting us as eating bread brought. As for the food it was mediocre at best. There are much better Italian restaurants in area. We ordered the Artichoke appetizer which was very good. Lightly breaded in egg batter with a piccata sauce was something I would recommend. For entrees: I ordered Linguine Pescadore (seafood pasta) which came with a decent amount of mussels and some meaty scallops. The red sauce served with it was bland lacking much to add to the flavor of the seafood. My date ordered the Mediterranean Salmon which was supposed to have a basalmic glaze but lacked much, if any, flavor from it. The salmon itself was cooked well with a nice crispy skin but the bed of veggies it was served on lacked much flavor. Overall, would not recommend when other much better restaurants (ex:Salvatore Scallopine) are within less than a mile of this place. read more

I been coming here over the years and the food is very consistent and good. But this is a message directly to management/ owner. Guys, your portions have shrunk significantly over the years. Based on value, I honestly can't say I would be back... the shrimp Casablanca for example, angel hair pasta is so cheap, why are you giving so little for an expensive entree? Your entree is literally the size of an app.. 3 people ordered it out of our party of 6 and everyone made the same comment. We all felt very slighted and it was actually embarrassing because we recommended this establishment so highly. If you're going to serve many of these entrees like the chicken Bella À la cart, then you need to really send a portion of chicken and not a joke size.. or at least include a starch.. Our server was great. Only complaint is that she didn't come around the table so guests had to shout across the table from the other end for their order. In tough times the last thing you want your clients to feel is cheated.. I'm leaving you a 3 star based on your portion sizes and value. My first visit here. I can't believe this place has been here for years and I've never been! Although I do live 45 minutes away, but my friend in the neighborhood took me and I will go back! Found the restaurant to be rather small. I brought several friends to dinner there. It felt like we were invisible, waiters were concentrating on other tables, our table seemed unimportant to the wait staff. Got a feeling of being a stranger in a private club. Was it our skin color? Our second time here for dinner last night. It's a cozy environment much like the local neighborhood gathering place for dinner. The food was much better than last time . I would give the food a 4 star. Scallops fettuccine was great. Salmon also very good but over cooked a bit. Both worth ordering again. I would give the waiter service a 1 star. Waiter was deplorable. He was rude and obnoxious the moment he first approached our table. His customer service skills are non existent . Never a smile and insulting attitude back at us when we asked a question. He did not give us his name when he first came to our table and never did. The only way we can identify him is he told us he's Turkish when we asked where he is from to get him to smile. We tipped him because we are decent people. Wine list-- Everything we asked for was not available. Food was a bit slow arriving at our table. Originally called Maxine's, this restaurant has been one of Grosse Pointe's best for years. There's nothing comparable in the area. The food is exceptional, and the staff is professional. If you have never been, I highly recommend it. It is a bit pricey but it has always been worth it. read more

They really know how to make delicious Sea Scallops but paying $40 for 3 scallops and a spoonful of veggies is kind of ridiculous. I had to wait over an hour to get my order and couldn't even place my order until "after 7:30pm" whatever time that is. Thankfully they called when my order was done and I only live a few minutes away. Not the best experience and not very good on pricing for 3 scallops. It's not the chefs fault. I have to say Bucci's is our favorite Italian restaurant! The staff there is so personable and the open bar cooking concept is fantastic. You can sit in a dining room or at the bar. What a wonderful restaurant! Its so inconspicuous on Mack. We ventured to Bucci and we were delighted. We had an artichoke appetizer which I could have doubled and had as a main meal. It was so delicious. I have veal Romano and my husband had a veal chop. Both were so delicious. We ate all of both since they were outstanding. My husband said there was only one things wrong with the menu......He said every item sounded amazing and he had a hard time choosing. (LOL). Bucci's is lovely inside. Came for dinner with some friends who are regular customers. The staff knew our friends well and greeted them warmly. Our waitress was attentive and was did a good job. My rigatoni Bolognese was fine, but a bit salty. While we did not sit at the bar, it looks like a fun location as you can watch the staff cook your dinner. read more

Thanks Unbelievably poor service. We were served a glass of wine that was half sediment. Not exaggerating. We waited to discuss it with our server, but he disappeared for 15 minutes. We asked another server about it, and he was smug and condescending, asserting we knew nothing about red wine. Then he walked over to a guest eating by himself and began mocking us for our lack of knowledge of wine. It was surreal. I couldn't believe what was happening. Then the customer started mocking us for our poor knowledge of wine. I have been drinking red wine for 30 years. Never have I been served a glass of wine that was half sediment; never have I been publicly shamed for simply asking a question at a restaurant. Additionally, though this seems minor in comparison to the treatment we received, the salmon tasted like it had just been overboiled and dropped on a plate. It had been a few years since we'd been to Bucci and decided to order take-out. I ordered the bolognese with the egg linguini. It was terrible, and I can make a much better ragu. First: you can't substitute pork belly with salt, second, you need pork and beef, possibly veal; third: I know they're not using borolo, and most importantly where is the soffrito? NOT worth what we paid for it. I grant you, the pasta itself was good, and the lady who took our order was polite considering they sounded busy. We will never be going back there. read more

Staff was friendly, ingredients are fresh however I ordered the seafood pasta and would not recommend. Maybe an off night, but when the entree arrived the calm shells were spread open around the perimeter of the bowl (I assumed for decoration and the clams would be mixed in with pasta) but no the smallest little clams were inside each shell the size of a pea. I think there are too many glamorous reviews for this place. It's far overpriced for what they serve. Seasoning. I should. It have to salt my food to taste it at this price point. I will say what I usually say. Detroit area restaurants need to go to Chicago and New York to learn about fine dining quality. That said, I have not had bad service at Bucci. I've had the pleasure of eating at Bucci's a few times before this review. Every time was an excellent experience. The atmosphere is very welcoming and authentic. You walk in and you see the chefs cooking right in the open. Very cool! We ordered one dish off the menu and one of the specials. The Veal Romana was excellent.
