Bucharest is a Detroit staple. I don't even like Mediterranean food but will definitely eat a shawarma from here. It was my fiancé's birthday and he chose this as his quick, easy meal. Ordering online was great! I set a pick up time and it was ready when I got there with no wait. This location isn't my favorite but the most convenient for me after work. The garlic spread is the best and the pita is so soft. Bucharest shawarma with the fries inside is a must. Okay I ordered 3 sliders with cheese and onions $6.00. what I got was something that has lamb in it and I don't eat lamb so I am sitting here looking at something that was supposed to be my dinner. Yes I asked what was on the slider, and what was the slider before I ordered it; since I have never been to this particular Bucharest Grill. Update...9/22/16 I don't know what's happened to Bucharest. I frequent this location because it's basically across the street from me. The service here is just SO slow. I remember no matter how busy the downtown location was, they were always fast and their customer service was better. If my food is gonna take longer than what I'm told then I would like to at least be updated. But hey, cheap food, I shouldn't expect 5 star treatment, lol. Moreover, I'm not much older but these young kids are just so slow and always talking to eachother. Even more so, the chicken isn't as good as it used to be. Maybe it was an off night, I don't know, but the chicken was so tough, rubbery, and cartilage-like ! Really off-putting tonight. If you order anything, stick to the shawarma and fries. I decided to try a burger for the first time yesterday and it turned out to be not only lamb, but was definitely marinated slab meat. It would be one thing if the menu stated that the burgers are lamb as opposed to ground beef, but regardless, the flavor profile of whatever meat I received is not really suitable for burger toppings. Thankfully I don't have any dietary restrictions to lamb, but some people do. At another prior visit, I ordered the homestyle potatoes on the side. I ended up with some severely undercooked, flavorless ultra-thin slices of potatoes in a bowl of sautéed peppers and onions. Not tasty. Service was reasonably fast, employees were kind and focused on their job. No critique there. I visited on opening night. Ample parking. Not too busy. Great staff. The quick service allowed me to be in and out in maybe ten minutes. I got home and discovered that shawarma was very salty, causing me to throw more than half of it away. I was disappointed. I mentioned it on their Facebook page. Someone quickly responded to understand the issue better. Complete resolution was given in less than 24 hours. That type of response is rare, but truly appreciated. read more

The food here is amazing. I could eat here every day for the rest of my life and be extremely happy! I almost always get a 6 pack of shawarmas (half beef, half chicken) so I can take them home and share with my SO. One shawarma is more than enough for me as a meal. My So could sometimes eat two, but that's REALLY pushing it for him. Two is food coma situation for him. Honestly, if you're SUPER hungry you could get one shawarma and then a side of hummus. Then instead of addressing the delay or kindly greeting me, Zoey was rude and indignant when I asked her to verify my order (salads which had various additions/subtractions). And one of the items was later found to be wrong despite the writing on the container. Since Bucharest charges for their food, please remind Zoey that you'll need customers in order for her to keep a job. Food overall great. But I've never used the delivery option. It's great to have a 'take out' based restaurant in this area that's a good step above fast food. Yet, I must concur with other reviews here that the chicken can be overly salty. Otherwise flavored well. Three stars in that the cashiers can be a bit flat. And there's a real ventilation problem going on at this Piquette location! Cooking from the grills smokes up the entire waiting/ dining area. I'd never dine-in as the smoke is too heavy for comfort. You can actually see the smoke wafts as the sun beams in. I think I prefer the Jefferson location overall which is larger, to consider for dining in -- without the ventilation problems. read more

This is a fast food type of Mediterranean restaurant. Lots of great choices on the menu. Some locations even serve beer and wine, this particular one doesn't. The service was excellent and fast. They were very busy and the food was very fresh. Everything we ordered, from the chicken Shawarma wrap to the Niki salad, were excellent. We were hungry and we were very satisfied.
