This place is usually good, but not always. I typically get the "chicken stick", which is a thinner version of the Shawarma. I prefer the bread on it. When it's good, the chicken is fresh and hot, there is a good amount of garlic sauce, and the wrap is grilled. The issue is, it depends on who is making the food that day. Sometimes the chicken taste like it has been sitting around and is not fresh and is either cold or rubbery. Other times there's hardly any garlic sauce, or the wrap is almost soggy. Consistency in the prep would go a long way in making this a five star fast food meal. I called the restaurant to confirm whether pita chips are still supposed to come with the dish and was told they are--clearly indicating our order was incomplete. When I politely provided this feedback, the woman who answered the phone showed no concern whatsoever. There was no apology, no acknowledgment of the issue, and no offer to make it right--just a flat "ok," which felt dismissive and unprofessional. The chicken on this shawarma was so fresh it made me get 2, I didn't get to take a picture of the food due to me being extremely hungry but this was so worth the time to stop before I boarded my plane. I've never had shawarma before, it wasn't bad. I had the lamb one, they went super heavy on the onions, and mayo. I had heartburn all night.

The food was very fresh. I ordered the hummus with fresh vegetables. It came with sliced tomatoes, sliced cucumbers, sliced green peppers, two pickle spears, and yummy pita bread. I also ordered a chicken shawarma sandwich. It was prepared as one of the best I've ever had. I managed to eat the whole sandwich, but saved some of the hummus for another day. Even the leftover hummus tasted very fresh. I ordered carryout so I can't really comment on the service or the ambiance since I didn't stay. Got the lamb shawarma. Lamb was flavorful and the toum had a lot of garlic flavor . What I didn't like about it was the toum sauce had oil that got all over your hand. Felt greasy . The owner of Bucharest probably doesn't care either and is most likely too busy relaxing on a second yacht that was obtained by raising the prices over and over and over again at all of the Bucharest locations. This location will mess up your order and they probably don't feel any shame when doing it. Special instructions like remove tomato or add onion are a mere suggestion for this location. The Lamb Shawarma is barely cooked and looks like cheap thin sliced meal (try the downtown location if you want to truly know how awful the GP location is). Honestly, it's just a damn shame that this location sucks so much. I visit the downtown location almost weekly for drinks and sometimes a meal and was super excited to FINALLY enjoy this food close to home. First time ordering from this location and most likely the last. Placed an order to go for 2 simple chicken shawarmas and both were made incorrectly. Called to let the store know and all I was told was to either bring the items back or "I'm sorry". It's frustrating as this was a pick up. I already drove there and expected my items to be made correctly. I'm not gonna drive down again and waste my time and gas for something that should have been done correctly the first time. We are usually huge fans of Bucharest Grill and decided to try the Gross Pointe location today. Unfortunately, I ordered two Chicken Shawarma sandwiches with extra sauce on both, but when I got home, I found there was no sauce on either. My Shawarma salad was also missing green peppers, but I didn't even complain about that. I called the restaurant and spoke with an employee who said she would ask the manager about a refund. When the manager got on the phone, I explained that I live an extended distance away, but he told me to save the sandwiches and bring them back whenever I could and they would remake them. This response was not only inconvenient but also insulting--a clear example of poor customer service. Based on some other posted reviews, it seems this is a common issue. I guess easy come, easy go. Ordered two Large Chicken Shawarma Salads. Went to pick them up at the time they had specified. Not ready. Everyone in the "kitchen" seemed to be to more interested in joking around then preparing meals. A person has a view to the "kitchen" from the counter so I can see the employees having a better time screwing around than preparing customers meals. I had to wait 5 plus minutes before anyone even came to the front counter just to say the salads are not ready. When I finally received the order, no pita chips and the salad was WAY over salted to the point we couldn't eat it and had to toss half of it out. My wife and I have eaten at one of the other locations in Detroit on numerous occasions and never had this problem. An employee can have a good time at the place of business but not so much as to place it before the customer. We purchased shawarmas few times. We were pretty satisfied with food until today. Our order was not correct and we unfortunately realized it when we got home. We called back to have it corrected and asked to have the entire order remade. Half of our original order was missing. It takes about 15 min for us to drive....so food that we already got was already cold. The person on the phone agreed. We went again to pick it up, we got our boxes, got home only to realize that they gave us only what was missing!
