I didn't know that the new Bucharest Grill in Clinton Township was a local chain until after deciding we should check it out for lunch. Right before leaving I heard from a friend that they love the one downtown and it's great. Nope. First off, I didn't realize this was glorified fast food. Order at the counter, sit down and they bring it to the table. Speaking of the tables, not one seat is normal height. All the booths would be nightmares for families with young children as they are bar height with unsafe seating for little ones. Don't want a booth? The only other option is sitting at a bar. Not great if you're fidgety or need accessibility. I ordered the small shawarma salad and our son ordered a large. The chicken was cooked well, but the salad was extremely SALTY. My son uses a lot of salt and even he agreed. Hubby ordered the Bucharest shawarma box. The curly fries were decent. He asked what was different about the Bucharest version and the woman didn't mention that it was spicy hot, so he wasn't happy either. We ordered grape leaves as an appetizer to share. They had little flavor and were swimming in a nondescript sauce that was greasy. These were probably the worst grape leaves I've ever eaten. All this cost over $60 (with soft drinks). We have been to several other locations and always loved it. We both got the Bucharest shawarma. The food came out quick and hot. It is loaded with lots of goodies like chicken, garlic, pickles, and fries. It is a bit messy but very delicious! The portions are large enough for us to share some fries and have a little bit left over. We also got curly fries and always love those. We are happy that they brought a location closer to us and will be visiting again in the future. read more

We got a huge order for my work peeps. Everyone ordered something different and they loved it. I got the small chicken shawarma salad.... I don't know who is complaining because it's a beast. Pictured. Curly fries were crispy and flavorful. I will say.... The dressing.... Is just olive oil.... NO flavor. Ended up using a mediterranean dressing in our fridge instead. Best tasting chicken schwarma sandwich in town. Cost was $10.55 w/tax, so it better taste good. Very garlicky (I love garlic), jam packed with marinated chicken, a little bit of lettuce, small amount of tomato, and pickle half. Sometimes the garlic dip is so strong it takes on a metallic iron taste. It's also a mess to eat, so get extra napkins or a bib. The whole thing was wrapped in aluminum foil, two sheets deep. Service was a little slow considering there were a dozen or more staff readily visible in the open kitchen. Most didn't look very busy, standing around talking to each other. Inside it's just like all the other Bucharest locations, horizontal slabs of naked wood on the walls and sharp angled booths. I like Bucharest Grill however I wish it offered more value. Wish the schwarma sandwich was about $2 cheaper. Theres another Mediterranean restaurant nearer to my home that sells a really good chicken schwarma sandwich for $7.50. It tastes ALMOST as good as Bucharest's. read more

We had carry out/take out. I had the massive chicken shawarma, just delicious and one hell of a bargain at that price. The wife had the chicken shawarma salad that was just huge and she loved it. We didn't know how big the food was so we also got the chicken shawarma stick, will find out what that tastes like tomorrow. . really love the chicken shawarma salad tray but the chicken they gave us was chopped really small and burnt as well, feels like it's just the left over chicken and remnants. It was disappointing. I have been to all the other stores. The food was superb. I always get a swarma salad and a six pack. I was so excited this one on Hall opened in my neighborhood. Boy was I disappointed in the portion of the salad. Every other store has chicken spilling out the box. The swarmas at the other locations are bigger as well. Hall location is very very disappointing and I purchase Bucharest at least 3 times a week. The hall location needs to use the same portions as the other locations.
