We went in and I asked for a pub table but I was told they were full. I pointed to one that had trash on it and asked if I could have that after it was bussed. They said no, because that table was for "managers and servers." The entire time I was there (1 1/2 hours) no one sat there or cleaned it off. It was full of 20 oz sodas, potato chip bags etc (very off putting) I was told the wait for a table was 15 minutes so we decided to sit at the bar while waiting, good thing we decided to stay there because I got my table ready text 45 minutes later instead of 15. The food was average (5/10) for burgers. My guest was given the wrong burger but he was hungry from our 45 minute wait for food so he ate it. They forgot my wild rice then later brought out the most comical one bite serving of all time. They have about 40 TV's and LITERALLY every one was on the exact same channel (what's the point?) We absolutely LOVED this place! There was live music on the deck, delicious drinks, and amazing food! I had chicken, which was phenomenal, friend 1 had Chicken Tenders, friend 2 had Fried Cod, and hubby had Beef Manhattan! We loved everything from our absolutely adorable and efficient waitress (sorry I forgot her name but a bubbly redhead) to the food and entertainment. We've always enjoyed coming to Buckhead. The restaurant / it's atmosphere , alone, are top notch. Sadly the last few times we've been here ( 3 months ago and longer) weren't the best times. But today, on Tuesday lunch, it was PHENOMENAL!!! We asked for a booth, was told it would be a small wait due to them being a little busy.....but they could sit us at a high top in the bar. Best move ever!! Our server Sean D clearly loves what he does & he's good at it. The manager , Angela, is completely hands on and as a manager of a restaurant myself, I can really appreciate her dining room presence and the help she gives her staff. They are lucky to have her!!! This place is just kind of ok. The food is never consistent in my opinion. And service is the same. We normally eat here before we go see a show at the Aronoff Theatre. We always make sure to go a good couple of hours beforehand, as sometimes it takes 2 hours, other times we're in and out in an hour with a group of 4-6. The service vs food consistency issue does not go hand in hand. I've had good chicken dishes here, and dry chicken dishes here, including their specials. The lobster Mac is normally pretty decent but sometimes is overly... Garlicky? Buttery? I'm not sure how to describe it. Their rolls are delicious and they do have a lot of alcohol selections, so that saves it a bit. read more

Can't believe the price for that bowl of chili was almost $10, but I was curious. Wouldn't get it again at that price. My husband and I went in here today for our anniversary. We were seated after about 25 minutes, which wasn't bad for a Sunday. The server seemed nice at first. We order our food. I ordered the 6 oz sirloin. She asked how I wanted it done. I told her extra well. She laughed out loud. I turned to look at her and asked her in a nice way to stop laughing at how I like to eat my steak. She says, "I'm trying," and continues to laugh, hard. By this time I'm very flustered. I looked at my husband and he shakes his head and orders his food. She gets really mad or embarrassed that I called her out on it. After she brings our drinks, she switches servers herself. Our food came out and it was black! It was dry and hard. I asked the new server, Victoria, to send the manager out. He comes out and asks us how we ordered it then proceeds to tell me that she ordered it extra extra extra well. I told the manager I wanted it well with a little color and if she hadn't laughed, I could have explained that. I was too upset to remember the rest of my order. Both of our steaks were wrong. I can bet she did it on purpose. She ignored us the whole time, even when I made contact with her. The manager did make things right and the second steak was perfect. I will put the photos in the comments. I was also shocked that half the restaurant was closed off but there were four girls and one male seating people. Was here for work a year ago and loved it, came back today and was very disappointed, asked for a medium rare and got well, three steaks for us and all were way over cooked. Baked potato was dry and could tell it's been sitting around. I know there is a lack of workers but long wait to get seated due to lack of server staff doesn't go over well when there are three at the host station just to check people in. WOW - AWEFUL, there were 4 of us, and all were so disappointed. We went for Sunday brunch 1:30 table. I got the recommendation from Yelp. Burgers were seriously small and overdone - with no taste. No House specials were available. My wife ordered a $20 fish dinner, and got a single small slim piece of fish filet - overcooked on the outside raw in the middle - seemed like poorly cooked warehouse club frozen filet.. Out and about in Newport on a Saturday, we decided to stop here for late lunch. Things were slow in the mid-afternoon, so we had plenty of opportunity to look around. It's a big space, maybe room for 200 diners, nicely appointed in mountain lodge décor, and right on the riverfront. It would be great to hang out on the deck in the summer, but even a relatively nice day in January isn't conducive to that. A little research shows that this is the third location for this Louisville based chain, and they clearly put some money into it. The menu is pretty safe, mostly comfort food, lots of fried items. As is mandatory now they have a large beer selection and signature cocktails. DLW chose the electric lemonade with blue curacao, very pretty in the glass and very boozy tasting. Hot brown is something I'll always order, and I liked their version. DLW did something she rarely does, and sent back her beef and cheddar sandwich for being too salty. Overall experience was good but not great. I think you need to be in the neighborhood and bring appropriate expectations. read more

Horrible Customer Service! We were greeted by three annoyed hostesses. When they noticed our party was for seven people, rather than six. After explaining, I tried to call at least 10 times the prior afternoon during business hours, and receive no answer, and no responses to my voicemails, I made the online reservation for the max of six, but noted in the Special request box that our party was actually seven people. We were told very rudely that I should've continued to try to call to make the reservation for seven people because they don't listen to their voicemails and they don't read the special request notes. We were told rudely that it was going to be a while since we have the extra person now. We chose to leave, as there were many other excellent dinning options to choose from in that area. I normally get the chicken fried chicken with gravy, mashed potatoes and Mac and cheese. Very carb heavy but delicious. Other dishes we have gotten are the fajitas, pot roast and chicken pop pie. I'm a big fan of Buckhead. It's kind of under appreciated. I hadn't heard about it until a few months ago. It's right on the river in newport, but you'd never notice it if you weren't looking for it. The atmosphere is inviting. There's a large patio that provides excellent river views. The food is consistently good and their Sunday brunch is AMAZING. My husband and I love coming to Buckhead. We've never had a bad experience or bad food here. They have the NFL Sunday Ticket - which is a plus for us because we are Seattle Seahawks fans. Tonight was no different. The weather wasn't great and we weren't super hungry and it was NFL opening night. We trekked to Buckhead for a light dinner. We sat at the bar, like we tend to do. It wasn't super busy, but fairly busy. We already knew what we wanted when we got to the restaurant so we were able to order right away. The rolls are super delicious! The cinnamon butter is heavenly. Tonight I just wanted some soup and orders their loaded potato soup - which is one of my favorites. My husband ordered a bowl of chili. The food arrived promptly and was delicious!! We love being able to watch football at Buckhead and the rustic decor is also charming. We've always had good service and the view is spectacular. We try to sit outdoors as much as we can because of the view overlooking the river. This is one of our go to places for dinner. read more

First time at Buckhead Mountain Grill last night. Had dinner with my family, 4 adults, and three kids. Buckhead offers call-ahead seating. Call the day you want to have dinner after 4 pm, they will accommodate your party of it is 6 or more, when possible. My brother arrived earlier than our call ahead time (about 15 mins ahead) and they were still able to seat him early, which was nice. We got a great corner booth, we had the best view in the restaurant. Wonderful Ohio River views while dining from much of the restaurant. So beautiful. The kids loved watching the boats on the river. A top spot for waterfront dining. I ordered the Kentucky Hot Brown. If KY Hot Brown is offered on a menu, that is what I get. I love it. The Buckhead did not disappoint, well done version of the Hot Brown. I enjoyed it, would order it again. Everyone in our party was more than happy with their meals, and desserts. Now that I"ve lived here longer AND eaten inside Buckhead, I thought I should update my review (and award an extra star). We recently went on a weekend night, knowing there would be a wait. We were comfortable, however, at a small high top, kind of in the lobby area, outside of the busy, packed bar and didn't wait that long (less than 20 min). We were seated in a roomy booth where I proceeded to lose both my debit card and a flash drive out of my purse. Since I didn't discover the loss until an entire day later, I didn't make the connection that I might have lost the items at Buckhead. When I finally called there, all of the employees I spoke with were extremely helpful. Turns out they had the card (already cancelled at this point of course) and later turned up the flash drive. I was extremely relieved and pleased with the help of Buckhead's staff. Over time, our usual menu selections include Buffalo Chicken Sandwich or Wrap, the Hot Brown and the Big Fork Burrito. The portions are generous. I've also been several times for happy hour with colleagues (always in the warmer weather at the spacious patio). Happy hour appetizers and drink prices are good. read more

I took my daughter here for her birthday lunch. We've eaten here before but on the outdoor patio. Today we had a booth by the window with a nice view of the Ohio river and Cincinnati. We started with a drink and the Fried Pickle Chips appetizer. The pickle chips were quite tasty! The waitress also brought us fresh rolls with cinnamon butter. We did not eat them but did take them in a leftover box. We both ordered Tossed Salads as our sides, for an up-charge. The salads were ok. The lettuce was wilted and fairly soggy. My daughter ordered the Chicken Fingers with tater tots. She said that they were very good and she enjoyed them. I ordered the Cod Sandwich. It was not that great and I didn't finish it. It's served on rye bread with lettuce, tomato and onion and a side of tartar sauce. The outside of fish looked great but the inside was very dry and the breading and the fish had no seasoning at all. So it was dry and flavorless. The waitress was great and we were pleased with the service. Overall, it was ok. We had great service, a nice view and most of the food was good. read more

We showed up at 8:15 on a Friday night after enjoying the rooftop bar across the street at New Riff. 30-40 minute wait to seat us (there WERE 7 of us, so maybe that had something to do with it) and got a nice seat out on the deck overlooking the river and Cincy skyline. However, our waiter (forget his name, but he mentioned several times it was his first day back after a 7 month absence) was just atrocious. Took almost 30 minutes to get drinks, and we had asked him if we could put in our entree orders at that time to speed things up (it was almost 9PM by that time) and he told us (surprisingly) NO. So we finally get appetizers around 9:25 or so, and we put our orders in. 10PM rolls around (when they close) and we still don't have our food, which is why we wanted to put our entree orders in early. Waiter kept cruising by, dealing with other tables and generally looking like he was just wandering around. After everyone started getting cold and hangry, we ended up walking into the restaurant and telling the staff to just box them up to go (and of course, when we got home, the food was cold, in addition to being just meh - nothing to write home about). It's cut entirely too thin and doesn't have the greatest taste. All their steaks may be this way but I've only ever had the ribeye--twice. Food is decent and a good amount of draft beers, but craft beer shouldn't be served in a frosted glass. A frosted glass takes away from craft beer's aroma and taste due to condensation. Knowing that, I requested a beer in a non-frosted glass and found out that their draft lines do not seem to be as cool as they should be. They may be using frosted glasses to cover that. As far as the service, it was a fine, but a little slow at times. The rolls are always top notch as is the food for the most part, although a steak ordered medium ended up being closer to well. read more
