Often visiting Cincinnati with my kids we like to try places that we do not have at home. Buckhead Mountain was one of them so we gave it a whirl. WAS SO IMPRESSED! Service was impeccable, I ordered the Bison Chili as an appetizer and it was delivered hot and delicious ASAP! Also ordered the Chicken that comes with pineapple and teriyaki but I had them hold the pineapple and put teriyaki on the side. Very good healthy dish as dinner was served with a huge basket of fresh, hot rolls with sweet butter. Kids shared a dinner and even with a tall beer our meal was sixty dollars. I would definitely return, and suggest all you reading to give it a whirl! They have a huge and open bar with several beautiful fireplaces. And if dining on an outdoor patio on the river it is a beautiful place to catch a sunset with the ones you love over a nice fire and a glass of wine! Cheers! read more

OMG, how terrible! I travel for business and eat out too much. My customers suggested this restaurant. I have been there many times, although years earlier. Of course, I said "Sounds good". The restaurant was the same, like a log cabin only expanded. We were seated immediately. The waiter was average in attendance and with remembrance of the orders. The wait for our lunch order was long. Rolls and cinnamon butter were delivered, which is their signature. They are as delicious as Krispy Kreme donuts. After a wait, I sighted a server in the distance with our order waiting for direction. Everyone ordered burgers, and therefore I did the same. I ordered a bison burger with broccoli instead of fries. The order finally arrived. Everyone's bun was stale and dehydrated, mine especially so. The burger was extremely dry. Granted, bison burger, very lean. This one, way over cooked. I turned to the broccoli. I ate two florets and discovered a long hair. The waiter did ask twice if everything was OK. My customers stated that is was and I did not contradict them. I did not want to make a scene and embarrass them. Bottom line, I will never eat there again. read more

First off, the food. Buckhead HAS to be microwaving their food. It came too fast. You don't whip up Hot Brown in 4 minutes, unless you made it ahead and put it in the microwave. I observed this from other tables as well, they got their food almost *too* quickly. Also - the gravy wasn't warm throughout - something that occurs when you use a MICROWAVE. Apples came out molten lava hot - microwaved (the dish was hot as well...) the "Manhattan Roast Beef" was on THREE pieces of bread, obviously to elevate what little stringy meat there was so the microwave would hit the underside. As mentioned, the gravy was warm in places, not in others. Green beans were terrible (those were sent back for the previously mentioned "lava hot" apples... rolls were almost non-existent, probably because bread in a microwave doesn't turn out that good. Second, the server - terrible. Didn't check on us, couldn't carry more than one thing at a time, slow, didn't ask to refill drinks, didn't take away used dishes, generally lax. The seating outside needs an upgrade, the umbrellas don't tilt, or serve much of a purpose. A sign says "don't feed the birds" yet servers and busboys throw things to them when clearing off tables. The manager (if there was one) never checked on us. This used to be a decent place, it's definitely gone downhill. It's on the "never again" list, and if a friend or relative suggests this establishment, I will promptly suggest somewhere else. read more

The patio seating is enormous. It's right on the river with plenty of parking. The servers are very friendly and inviting. We went for Father's Day brunch which starts at 11. They have a breakfast buffet that starts earlier. I loved the pulled pork and Cole slaw option. I'm not that big on breakfast. Everyone seemed happy. It was such a casual and free environment. I love the look of the place it's like a huge cabin on the river. They even have a fireplace for when it's cold. read more

So food was 50/50. Half the food was messed up. The other half was ok. Don't get a steak there. The concept that a medium rare steak is 135 degrees in the middle has never been taught to the guy running the grill. Sent it back twice. The first time it was medium well. The next time it was medium. I was not going to try it for a third time. The kid's hamburger was cold. The second time out they finally got it correct. I have a theory about restaurant kitchens. First, when food is late coming out; something is always going to be messed up. Second, if your food is late the steak will always the thing messed up. The service was not great, but I felt like that was probably just our guy, because everyone else seemed to get food. Our server would disappear for 30 minutes at a time. I had to go get my own appetizer plates. I had to use somebody else's server to get to get the table bused. This is not a sit down and eat a meal with your family kind of place. Come here to slam beers and eat fried food with 60 of your closest friends. The beer was cold and plenty of selection. I believe this place very liberally uses the word "Grill" in their name. I would almost consider a lawsuit for malpractice after what will be forever known as "Great Steak Disaster of 2024". It should be called " Buckhead's Mountain Frier Place" as the fried food was a solid middle of the road. The worst part of the whole experience; as I am walking out mad, I see some guy eating on a perfectly cooked medium rare steak. I told myself, "He ordered it rare to get it cooked like that." While not the worst place I have ever ate I would still rate it as a 1.5 dumpster fire. read more

Nice view! And the food was pretty good. However, almost every staff member we encountered (except for one sweet host) was very short with us, verging on hostile. Our server was confused when I ordered my beer because he had no idea it was on the menu, then the beer my family member ordered was not actually being served there anymore. Our server got weirdly defensive about it and didn't offer any recommendations. Then when we were ordering, our server got really intense with us, basically snapping at my sweet mom in response to clarifying questions about the menu. Honestly, the best part was how our server barely came back to check on us, since he was pretty unpleasant. I got the sense that someone higher up is creating a toxic work environment, because everyone working was in a horrific mood. read more

I have a lot of good things to say about this restaurant but first let me start by saying how amazing our server was. I didn't catch his name but he's a grandpa with 7 grandkids. He so friendly but also really great at serving his customers. The outdoor dining is fantastic and has a lot of tables plus inside was roomy as well. The bathrooms were clean. Our food was delicious, especially the French fries- yum! We live about 3 hours north and we're only passing through but next time we do we will certainly stop here because it was a great experience. read more

I really enjoyed my dinner at Buckhead Mountain Grill. My server was very knowledgeable about the menu and willingly shared her favorites, including why she liked those so much. She gave me time to make decisions and was available but also didn't "hover" over me. I sat on the deck, enjoying a warm summer Monday evening and watching traffic on the Ohio River. The warm rolls with cinnamon butter were an amazing start to my meal. I had a grilled chicken salad with the house made bleu cheese dressing, and it was excellent. The portion was generous; I brought half of it home for another meal. Buckhead is certainly an option for future visits to the Cincinnati/Newport/Bellevue area. read more

The sun was finally out and shining and we took the opportunity to check out Newport! So happy we did! Buckheads has a wonderful patio area with outdoor dining and a riverfront view! We even saw a few boats go by! The food was excellent! We tried the buckhead burger and a honey chipotle chicken sandwich both were cooked to perfection! Sunset dinner on the Ohio River ! Requested a rail side table on the deck overlooking Cincinnati, multiple bridges and the Ohio river - seated immediately. Half off appetizers from 4 to 7 PM. Fried green tomatoes and cheese boulders were excellent and came right away. Entrées were the chicken pot pie and Durango wrap. Basket of warm rolls and cinnamon butter. Also, came right away. More than enough food, allowing for leftovers to take home. Our server, Makayla, was pleasant and attentive. Well, worth the short drive from Cincinnati. read more

Buckhead Grill offers what I would call "upgraded bar food" . The usual burgers and such are acceptable but nothing special. $5 for a small draft and $14.50 for a fish sandwich (with fries). Not outrageous but not a bargain, either. Good service and the outside deck offers a great view of Cincinnati. Free parking in their lot. read more

Got here for a late dinner, 8pm, nobody at door to greet me, but I waited. 2 minutes go by and the greeter shows up with a soda and apologizes for my wait. Place is fairly empty, I ask for a table or booth with a view of the tv, so I could watch some Monday Night Football. They have a lot of TV's here, so that was not a problem. I get waited on pretty quick. I came here for the fried chicken. Had it before and it was excellent. So the order was pretty easy. Some hot rolls were brought while I waited. I think about 6 inches of my waistline are made up of hot rolls! My meal arrived in mo time and looked delicious. The chicken leg was perfect. Crunchy and tasty exterior. Next up the breast. First bite ok! Second bite a little chewy and cold. The third bite and I'm thinking something is wrong. I turn to my trusty phone and turn on the flashlight and look at the chicken. Oh to my dismay, raw chicken. I figure ok, big piece didn't get cooked all the way. I eat the thigh and wing and there is no problem. The baked potato and the baked apples were good. The waiter came and asked how everything was, I told him about the raw chicken and he looked at me like a deer in headlights. I know what he is thinking, I'm just looking for a free meal. Sorry Bob (not his name or maybe it was), not the case. After about a minute of him looking at me, he asks if I want to see the manager. Normally, I would like to tell the manager that something wasn't cooked, but a waiter shouldn't ask, apologize and then go tell the manager, don't stare at me and ask as if you think I'm making something up. So yea, this time was 2 stars.....last two times it was 4 stars. Maybe it's the difference between lunch and a late dinner? End of night and the server had a bad night? We all have bad nights, but having eaten raw chicken, I'm worried I'm going to have a really bad night! (Lol, a little humor there). So before you make your final decision based upon my review, this was my fourth or fifth time here, but my first bad experience. I know the last two times were great, me and my kids love the place. So one out of five isn't bad. And had it not been for the staring contest with the server, maybe it would have been 3 stars. I've served myself uncooked chicken at home, it happens, just don't stare at me and try to make me feel like the uncooked chicken is my fault. The meal made me very very ill. I ordered a Kentucky Hot brown ( Kentucky speciality food) and they substituted cayenne for pepper. The waitress was honest that that had a few people sick. Our party of 5 dined Tuesday evening at 6:30. At first we were told it would be a 15 minute wait but we were seated almost immediately. We ordered a round of drinks and were served promptly by an enthusiastic young man. The food was very good, not 5 Star but very good. Our Server Liz was super friendly and efficient and attentive. One issue came up with my brother's order of fish & chips. The cod fillets were the smallest and skinniest cod fillets I've ever seen. I've been to this place several times for brunch and I love it here! The main reason I love it is the view of the city! I love eating with a beautiful view. My favorite time to go here is during the summer when I can sit outside and enjoy the lovely view. The brunch is a Buffett. The cheesy potatoes are my life. I have been to Buckhead with my husband on countless occasions and we've always had good service here. They're always very accommodating -- especially when my dad was alive and he would come with us in his wheelchair. They were always able to get us a Handicapped accessible table for my dad and the waitstaff made over my dad, (which trust me -- he enjoyed the extra attention). The food here is always good and we even ate here for Thanksgiving 2019 and enjoyed the buffet that was offered. I ate here yesterday (on New Year's Day) and my husband and I really enjoyed our food. I got the steak fajitas and my husband got a pork chop steak. We both really enjoyed our food. All of our food came out piping hot and fresh. read more

Customer service is terrible. My friend ordered a Caesar salad with blackened salmon. The upcharge for the salmon instead of the chicken is $2. The server made a mistake and ordered the spinach salad instead of the Caesar. When the food was brought to the table, my friend told her it was not what she ordered. The server did offer to remake the salad but since my food was already at the table, my friend declined. When the bill came, the upcharge for the salmon on the spinach was $10. We talked to the manager about the problem and she refused to refund the difference in the salmon upcharge. This was truly the restaurant's fault and they should have made it right. The manager has no customer service skills. We will never go back. Was it worth $8 to lose two customers who eat there often? read more

Disappointing visit to Buckhead,generally very solid and taking my girlfriend for her first visit , she asked our waiter for his suggestions for favorite and his recommendation of chicken pot pie for her was very good,nicely done. On the other hand his other recommendations on the Arapahoe Chicken fell well short, served on appetizer plate ,with small ,flattened chicken breast ,that was dry and tough. The size of meat was even more disappointing when table next received their order(southwest chicken breast) ,with nice plump chicken ,covered with fresh topping ,hard to imagine came out of same kitchen.To make it worse the steamed broccoli side was cold, and hard, obviously not steamed. The waiter handled the problem quickly though, and replacement was done correctly,but it came while I was about finished with Chicken and wild rice(which that was another poor presentation). 3 star is really generous and only because how good my girlfriend's dish ,compared to how poor mine was. A co-worker recommended Buckhead's for a team lunch recently. This was my first visit. Wanting to try someone different, I ordered the Bison burger. And, wanting to a little healthy, I ordered green beans as my side instead of chips or fries. I was in heaven from the first bite! The Bison burger was definitely one of the best burgers I've ever eaten. It was juicy and full of flavor. The green beans had a little bit of bacon and onion in them, and they were delicious as well. I also thoroughly enjoyed the rolls and apple butter that are served before the meal. It took every ounce of willpower I had to stop at one. One of my friends ordered the Kentucky Hot Brown, which looked amazing, and according to her reaction, it must have tasted as good as it looked. The service was really friendly and quick, and the view from the restaurant was gorgeous. If the weather is nice, I suggest you dine outside. This would a great spot for date night.
