Our 3rd time trying the new owners and they don't listen well when we said no veggies in our Mongolian beef. And they are rude! I asked for an extra side of gyoza sauce and when he brings it by he says " why you order more there is sauce right there" pointing to the boat. I told him I like spicy and my husband and kids dont. Asked for extra plates and he looked at me like I was an idiot. Me being in the food and beverage industry I am patient with things like this but today was too much . Did not feel welcomed at all . Also, new customers came in and sat down. They guy comes to clean the table saying that he had to wipe it cause people just got up .. didnt tell them that they had to order at counter or anything. I think the owners changed. It has been a long time since we've been here last. The new staff was polite and engaging. The disappointing part is that the food do not taste the same and the price has gone up a lot. We ordered the Curry Chicken as we normally would and they no longer use quality white chicken meat. Now they use the cheap dark meat instead. The reason for the 2 star rating is because the chicken tasted like it is going bad. We also ordered the Beef Udon. That tasted pretty good. They use their Teriyaki Beef for this dish so there's more flavor in the Udon soup. I don't think we'll go back again. It is just not the same and it costs too much. read more

Teriyaki in Kent isn't a hard thing to come by so I ventured in during lunch. It was a pleasant experience besides being stuck behind a couple who had no idea what they wanted to order. What next! They would pay with pennies? So it was my turn I went with the Bento box with Teriyaki and rice and tempura and a California roll. For 11 Dollars and some change including a soda it was a deal. The Ginger could of been fresher but no complaints on the food besides it took a while to come out. But hey it's not fast food and it was delicious. I recently started getting into teriyaki. I never even had teriyaki my whole life. Then I started trying places and bucks was the second place I tried and it was amazing. Huge amounts of food always happy to serve you, always helpful and smiling! After bucks I still wanted to try other places and some were literally so horrible!! Bucks even gives better ordering options for combos etc on the doordash app too. Other terriyaki only have specific "chicken teriyaki and chicken katsu" but bucks lets you actually pick what 2 meats you want. Never have I ever written a negative review on a food establishment. EVER. But after my experience with this restaurant, I just have to write a review. I decided to get a Prawn teriyaki on Uber Eats. It's $11 plus $3 for fried rice, seems pretty normal. That Is after I opened the styrofoam container. For $14 you would expect a decent amount of fried rice and prawns. No, they decide to give about three cups of fried rice that is absolutely bland (Better off saving the $3 and get the white rice). For perspective, you know how there's three containers in styrofoam containers - two small ones on the top corners and one big main one on the bottom half. They filled the fried rice on the small corner containers! The prawns were burnt to crisp, you can actually taste how burnt it was. The prawns were also swimming on a pool of what looks like teriyaki sauce that is overly salty. I decided to put all the tiny amount of bland fried rice I had to the sauce hoping to get some flavour on the rice, but instead the rice became salty! It became inedible at that point. The only positive thing I got from this order was the side salad was fresh and crisp. The vinegar dressing that came with it is amazing. Finally something refreshing after eating a small overpriced portion of bland fried rice and burnt prawns swimming on a pool of salty teriyaki sauce. read more

I've being going to Bucks for years. The place has new owners. Food has always been first class. Not anymore! A number of years ago, I learned a valuable tip from a millionaire friend, i.e., "Never trip over pennies on your way to dollars." In other words, don't be so over-focused on things that cost very little, you lose sight of what makes you money." In the case of Bucks, you feel like they skimp on everything, or settle for serving less than quality food, so as to avoid losing a few cents. Let me give you some concrete examples. I went in there today with my son. We ordered the same thing we always do, a Bento box for me and Orange Chicken for him. In the past, before change in ownership, my son was always given a small side of salad with the Orange Chicken. Not today. He goes to the counter and asks why no salad. The lady said she wasn't the owner, but there has been no menu change, and points to the menu board above her. He affirms that the reader board is same, but that salad wasn't included this time. She says it's not part of the meal anymore. She wasn't willing to budge. Well, it was when the previous owner ran the restaurant. Which brings up a question, "JUST HOW MUCH DOES A SMALL HANDFUL OF LETTUCE COST?!!!" This is "tripping over pennies." You risk losing customers over, what? 25 cents in lettuce?!! Since I prepaid for the meal, perhaps she should have taken the cost of the lettuce out of the 20% tip I left. In hindsight, I wished I left no tip. My bento box wasn't any better. The prawn tempura looked anemic and like they were on a diet. They were small and thin. (tripping over pennies). The California Rolls were definitely NOT fresh. They were dry and tasteless. God forbid that they would risk throwing out old food and losing the money it cost to make it. Better to just give it to a customer who may not know the difference between 'fresh' and stale. (tripping over pennies). The chicken was overcooked, tough, and distasteful. Perhaps it had been reheated from a previous cook time. (tripping over pennies). The only thing I really enjoyed was drinking a glass of cold water after the meal was concluded, to wash away the taste of the meal from my mouth. As we got up to leave, the lady at the counter didn't say a thing, like, "Thanks for coming," or "Have a good day." No plans to return. Hope they treasure the few pennies they saved today. Apparently, that was more important to them than the multiple dollars we won't be spending with them in the future, or that of friends we warn to stay away. read more

This used to be my favorite teriyaki place, hands down. But, since they have gotten new ownership, the customer service has gone in the toilet. I called to place an order for pickup and they said they were closed, I asked if they still closed at 9 and she said yes, however it was 8:45 and they refused to take my order for pickup. I understand if you don't want to offer sit down service so close to closing, but if you refuse to take pickup orders during business hours, you need to change your hours. I know the whole sound is awash in sub par teriyaki joints, but this Buck's Teriyaki is that neighborhood spot you hit up when you want some quality fast food. They offer a variety if teriyakis & some standard sushi & chinese options. The chicken teriyaki is probably the best, I always get either the regular or the spicy- both with light sauce. The meat has a hint of that char flavor I love & isn't drowning in goo - which i also love. The salad is actually crunchy & has some veggies in it! Now I'm not suggesting you plan a night out at Buck's, but when I'm on my way home with nothing in the fridge & no desire to cook or eat grease on a bun - I head to Buck's. Bucks has amazing teriyaki. We are so lucky to have this place within 10 minutes from home. The portions are ridiculous. I always have leftovers for the next day. My favorite thing is the side salad they give with your meal. I swear I'm addicted to that dressing. I'd suggest calling ahead if you're in a hurry. Bucks Teriyaki in Kent...I know what your thinking. Hillbilly Teriyaki. :D But, not at all! Its super delicious Teriyaki. We always get Chicken Teriyaki w/extra chicken and sauce on the side. The portions are HUGE, and the teriyaki sauce is super delicious! The only downfall (otherwise a 5 star would have been given) is no brown rice! I think every teriyaki joint these days should offer brown rice. But, this place is definitely my new 'go-to' teriyaki spot. Even if I have to cook my own brown rice! :D Enjoy! The portions here are crazy! (As far as the teriyaki goes, don't know about the other items they have here). You get so much meat and rice, I don't think I've been to a place that gives so much. And I find the teriyaki to be pretty good too! I normally get the sauce on the side though, but still good! Wow, this place is legit. At first, I thought why would they name their teriyaki joint with a non-Asian-like name, but I've learned my lesson to steer clear of stereotypes! The name of the restaurant might have sounded a little "American", but the food here is awesome! The chicken teriyaki is delicious here. The chicken is grilled, but somehow they are able to keep the chicken meat moist unlike other teriyaki joints in the area. So it's not dry and doesn't scratch those sensitive gums of yours. I also opted to just get all salad and keep off the rice and their salad dressing is light, but it made it great to eat with the chicken. Definitely can't wait to try other entrees on the menu!
