What a cool experience. I'm in Little Rock for work and came to Hot Springs on my day off, specifically to check out the Buckstaff Bathhouse. I'm so glad I did. The Buckstaff was built in 1912, and once you enter the locker room you step back in time over 100 years. It's one of 2 operating bathhouses on Bathhouse Row, but the only one that maintains the original feel. The treatments and fixtures are the same as they have been for the last century. I was fortunate to have Ricky as my attendant, who has worked at Buckstaff since 1977. He made sure I had a great experience! I also had an excellent massage from Ryan. I visited the Buckstaff Bathhouse on my recent trip to Hot Springs. I also visited another historic thermal bathhouse, so my review is a bit of a comparison between the two. The thing I really enjoyed at Buckstaff that was not offered at the other bathhouse was the steam cabinet. However, this was only about 5 minutes of my visit, so I would say if I returned, I might not go back to Buckstaff. However, I absolutely recommend visiting this one so you can decide which is your favorite! Here is the sequence of events I experienced (thermal bath experience with no massage/paraffin): I got there before 8 and there were four couples ahead of me in line. By the time 8 rolled around there were many more people behind us. Definitely recommend getting there early! The check in process was a little chaotic because the people behind the table just said "whoever was here first, come to the counter." We were all sort of in a blob and once one person jumped in front of someone else who had been there before she had, the vibe got a little weird. I kind of wish they had deli numbers or something, but oh well. I am sure it all works out. The people who worked there were all very friendly, and the people in the treatment room were SUPER busy the whole time, but very friendly. I got changed, got my sheet, and went in for my bath. They offered a loofa but no other extras (like scented salts) but I can understand why since it was a tighter space. If there were any smells in there, it could get really challenging for people sensitive to smells. My bath was fine and I enjoyed the loofa. Then I went to the cooling table. The hot towels cooled off pretty quickly, and they were more draped over me than wrapped (which was what I saw for everyone, so it wasn't just me). I don't know if that is why they cooled so quickly, but I was kind of there in cold towels for a bit which was less pleasant. Next, I went to the steam cabinet which was my favorite. I did not know how I would feel because the steam cabinet is so strange looking, but I would 10/10 want to do this or something like it again. It was like the best of both worlds being able to breathe regular air while experiencing the benefit of a steam sauna on my body. Next was the sitz bath. I was looking forward to this unique experience, but I could take it or leave it. Maybe I don't have the concerns that would make this a dream come true feeling, but I kind of just felt awkward and like I was sitting in warm water on a towel. I then went back to get dressed and leave. It was overall a great experience I feel very lucky to have had. Hot Springs offers some "nowhere else" type National Park experiences, and I definitely 100% recommend supporting the thermal baths and their employees! I would take my own clean flip flops for next time. I think they offer spa shoes, but I don't remember seeing anyone who had them. read more

The Buckstaff Bathhouse in Hot Springs, AR, was truly a unique experience. My daughters and I came here as walk-ins at around 9:30 AM on 7.21.2025. Two best parts: + because my daughters were above the age 10, they got to experience it too... this was unlike any other place in town that had stricter age rules + La Toya (sp?) was my attendant and she was amazing! For $135, all three of us took the attendant-assisted elevator up to the women's area. The men's area was downstairs. This price included about 20-minutes in a whirlpool tub, a few minutes in a sitz tub (I absolutely hated it because mine was hotter than hell, but they cooled them off significantly for my kids), a few minutes in the steam cabinet, and hot packs. Iced water was brought to me frequently. I would probably add a few optional treatments next time like paraffin hand treatment and a massage next time. Our wait time was only contingent upon my filling out the waivers beforehand. I did not receive copies of them. The guy at the front desk could have been a bit more friendly and explanatory. So we each got our own locker with key on a lanyard. Charlene directed us on what to do. (And yes I asked her if "it looked good to her in John Deere Green." Lol. Long live Joe Diffie!) From there our attendants guided us. Both of my daughters had really sweet attendants too. One took a bit longer than the other, but that just meant my youngest got extra pamper time! Located in the middle of bathhouse row, Buckstaff is the longest running (and one of the only true) bathhouse. We went downtown to attend the bathtub races and horrendous weather rolled in, so my husband and I opted to hop in and take advantage of the services. There is limited on street parking and public lots available. We choose the Deluxe Bathing Package, because you only live once! We both opted for the 'au naturel' experience (swimsuits are not required). Reservations are not available, walk-in services only. They recommended coming first thing in the morning for ease. Men are on one floor, attended by men. Women are on another floor, attended by women. You start in the dressing room, where you remove your clothing (into lockers) or put on your swimsuit. The attendant wraps you in a sheet and gets you seated until your bath host is available. You are chauffeured into a small private area for your bath. Using the hot springs water, you soak in the tub (20-30 min). Your host will come in for a quick loofa scrub (based on package). Next I was taken for a sitz bath, a steam cabinet, and hot pack rest. Latoya is a phenomenal host, truly the best. I was then taken for a massage where Rhonda gave a quick but effective 20 min massage. Finally, you are taken back to the lockers to change and then for a parrafin hand wax. I would say, be open to the experience. I am a fairly modest person, but this was such a lovely experience. Everyone was so friendly and accommodating. It took about an hour and a half for the full package, but it was totally worth every moment and penny. Note- if you are not good with heat (overheating), this is not your ideal activity. Bath is about 104 degrees and the hot packs are a fiery 143 degrees (right from the hot spring). read more

This was a completely extraordinary experience. Did the full treatment less the wax treatment. Every part was a pleasure. The staff were all wonderful. The water attendant that took me through the hot tub, the sitz bath and the steam box went out of his way to make sure I was comfortable throughout. The masseuse was fantastic. I left feeling totally relaxed and a little rubbery good. We had to walk around town after as my muscles , especially my arms back and neck were so gumby I did feel I should drive right away. The best advice I can give you is to go first thing in the morning! We didn't wait long that way but you will have to have patience with everything else. The girls work so hard in such hot conditions so they are moving as fast as they can. We enjoyed every minute of it & everyone was friendly especially Shadow that girl kept a smile on her face the whole time she was so busy! We thought we would have the place to ourselves since it was raining but not so much. Everyone had the same idea as us. We got there at 1:25 and there was a line 15 people deep lined up outside. It took so long and by the time we finally got out of the rain and inside we had to fill out a 2 page waiver form and were told it was another 45 minutes more wait to get in the tubs; and if we wanted a massage it was another hour on top. We really wanted the massages but did not want to wait. We chose to just get the Bath. The cost was $45 plus $6 for the Loofah. The elevator came down and took us to the second floor where we were given a locker to change. We put on our swimsuits and came out where we were wrapped in white sheets. It looked like a Toga party. My mom was so short she was tripping over her sheet. We were told to sit in these plastic chairs and waited to be called to go back to our tubs. This part took so long! The chairs were not comfortable and the 45 minutes took almost an hour and a half! Finally, they called us in. They took us to sit in our own private hot Bath. The tub was slick from all the mineral filled water. My water wasn't hot enough so I asked for a little warmer water. My attendant also gave me water to drink. I was a bit shocked that you could drink it but it tasted good. The bubbles in the tub was nice too. It made it feel like a hot tub. After 20 mns. my attendant came back and asked if I wanted my back scrubbed which I did! It was so nice! Then I stepped out and was wrapped and walked to the steam room. She made me sit and put the metal cover around my neck so my head stuck out. She wrapped a sheet over the metal and I was in the steam room for 5 mns. Every time we moved to a different station we were wrapped in our sheets! I was then moved to a Sitz bath where I sat and hot water ran down my lower back. After it got filled up I shut it off. I sat for 10 mns. And the last station was a padded bed where I laid down with my sheet on with a round pillow under my knees. The attendant came and wrapped my body like a cocoon with hot towels and wrapped my head with a cold towel. The cold and hot was a strange feeling. I laid there very relaxed for another 30 mns. I almost fell asleep. All in all it was a good experience. I hated the wait part but I'm glad I did it. It was a relaxing experience and made me feel so nice. My skin felt soft and I slept so good that night. I hated the waiting though so I may not do it again. I kept thinking how old this spa place was and all the different women who came through here looking for relief from their aches and pains or hoping to find the fountain of youth. It's so cool I got to be take part of a historic moment in a very old but well kept bath house. I might try the more modern bath house next time. read more

My visit started with a classic facial by Renee. She did a nice cleanse and a few other treatments while my hands were wrapped in warm paraffin. I was so relaxed I almost fell asleep, and my face was absolutely glowing afterward. Then I hung out in the lobby for a bit, waiting for my bath time. Then, to the old-fashioned elevator where you can see the floors as you pass up or down. The attendant operates it. I loved this old elevator, too, because I had not been in one of these. An attendant then took me to the locker room, where you lock up your clothes and turn around so they can wrap you up in a fresh white sheet. My bath attendant, Mattie, was awesome! If I heard right, she's worked there longer than anyone else. I think she said 45 years, and she's still moving people around, cleaning stations, and keeping everyone hydrated like it's nothing. I loved her demeanor and energy, nurturing, but stays on track, too. She started me off with a mineral bath soak and kept refilling my hot spring water. Then it was on to the hot pack area. I was hot, so she let me cool down with some ice water before wrapping me up in hot towels (legs out, cool towel on my head). Next was the steam cabinet, only your head is sticking out. It was quick but just right. After that, I went to the sitz bath, which was hot too, and I struggled to dip in, but did it. Finally, I relaxed in the lounge area until it was time for my massage. Cooper did a great massage, good pressure, just wish it lasted longer. Overall, this was such a cool way to enjoy the hot water, the bath house, and the spa experience like people did long before all the fancy gadgets and Botox. Listen: This is not what you would call a "luxury" spa. This is an old-fashioned, straightforward -- almost medicinal -- bathhouse. Historically, this bathhouse is a place where people would visit to "take the cure" and recover from what ails them. Buckstaff retains much of that no-nonsense vibe today. They still use many of the original bathtubs and equipment from when the bathhouse opened in 1912, which is neat to ponder as you're soaking in your private mineral bath. Imagine how many butts soaked in the same tub as you did. Men and woman have separate wings in the bathhouse. I don't know what happened on the male side because I only visited with women. But as for the women's side, this is what happened. You're taken to a dressing room and an attendant turns her back while you strip down to your comfort level. You can wear a swim suit, if you want. I chose to go buck naked at Buckstaff, after I learned that you move through the spa stations by yourself, and the only person who sees you naked is an attendant. I was comfortable with that. You're led out of the dressing room and taken to your own bath filled with clean, hot mineral water. The jets are put on and you soak for about 15 minutes. It gets very hot! I was sweating. Then I was taken to a sitz bath, where you literally sit in a warm pool of water and drink some ice water and chill. This was about 5 to 7 minutes. Next is the steam closet, where you're sitting in box with your head sticking out, while your body is steamed and you sweat it out. This was only about five minutes, which was more than enough. It gets very hot in the box. Finally, you're taken to a row of tables, and you lie down and you're wrapped with hot towels. A cold towel is placed over your eyes. You lie there for a while. I could have fallen asleep. You have the option of adding on a massage, which I did. If you don't get a massage, then your bathhouse experience ends after the hot towel wraps. My massage was just OK -- she didn't go hard enough, and it kind of felt like she was gently rubbing lotion on my body. But a massage is a massage, and after all of my treatments, I left feeling blissful and relaxed. They talk a big game here in Hot Springs about the mineral water and its health benefits. I was a little skeptical about it all, but let me tell you something that might be somewhat TMI. I was feeling a little ... backed up, you might say ... before visiting the bathhouse. The morning after my bathhouse treatment, it was a miracle: My problem was not a problem anymore, at all. Could it have been the magical elixir of Hot Springs mineral water? Who knows, but I would 100% visit again, whether to relax or get things going. Baths are available on a walk-in basis only. They do not take reservations. There are usually lines out the door, so you will want to make sure you are lined up before they open if you want the best shot at getting in. read more

Not my first visit, but definitely the worst experience so far. This was my fourth time visiting Buckstaff Bathhouse, and unfortunately, this visit was significantly worse than my previous ones. I am familiar with their traditional bathing process, so this review is based on comparison, not first-time confusion. In past visits, after the massage there was always a proper place to shower and wash my hair. Since the soaking process does not include washing hair, this final step was essential. This time, however, that option was missing, which felt unhygienic and incomplete. Another major issue was the long wait time for massage. I waited nearly 30 minutes, and on the men's side the wait was close to an hour. It was clear the facility was understaffed, which seriously disrupted the overall experience. Most concerning was the temperature. This visit was during winter, with snow and very cold weather. There appeared to be no adequate central heating, and the building felt cold throughout the entire process. Instead of feeling warmed and relaxed, my body never fully warmed up, and I left feeling chilled and worried about getting sick. I respect the historical value of this bathhouse, but history should not come at the cost of comfort, safety, and basic service quality. This visit was disappointing, and a clear decline from previous experiences. Winter visits are especially not recommended unless heating and staffing issues are addressed. read more

It depends on what you are looking for in a spa; the staff is amazing & you definitely get more bang for your buck; BUT this place is way overdue for a renovation; a simple facelift is not going to do it; I know this place is one of the original bathhouses & one of the last ones on Bath row, but there is no pride in peeling paint & built up over years of not changing anything,not a good look the towels were old & dingy white, the tubs are old with rusted fixtures It's NOT handicap friendly; you pay for what you get; so the prices are very affordable in this economy. I was just there June 2025 & will probably go back this year because of the STAFF, I feel like it's clean just old; Nostalgia is not good in this case since we have had the world change because of COVID some times the wait can be long with the 1st come 1st serve policy on the baths & to be safe you may want to wear a bathing suit & slip resistant swim shoes to get in & out of tub read more

Wanting to take a step back in time and experience Hot Springs like it used to be, we decided on our day trip to come to Buckstaff Bathhouse. We came during their afternoon opening and after a bit of a wait in line - come early if you can - we were able to purchase our respective packages. I opted for the deluxe package which included the traditional bathhouse 40 minute soak as well as the traditional wrap, sitz tub, steam box, a massage and paraffin wax hand treatment. After placing my personal items in a locker with key, I was elegantly wrapped in my white sheet and awaited my turn. My bath attendant was Sara, a kind and warm older woman. She completely put me at ease and made me comfortable throughout the entire process. My masseuse, Cooper, was extremely kind and engaging, providing relief to all of my tight and sore muscles. Although a bit of a splurge, I do not regret taking the time or the money to experience what the traditional bathhouse used to be like. My service host healed my inner child.... I never knew I needed a bath that was guided by the sweetest, most motherly & kind human, Latoya. I've gone to plenty of spas and bath houses, but none of this style/service "menu" ... and ms. Latoya made the whole process feel deeply nurturing. I had driven from New Mexico to hot springs specifically to stop at this bathhouse on my way to NY and I was more than thankful for the opportunity to do so, and ms Latoya was the cherry on top. I had such a great time today at the Buckstaff Bath House. I've been to Korean spas, Japanese onsen, Icelandic hot springs- this one fits right in. If you've never been to a bath house before, be prepared for a little bit of nudity and some physical contact! If you're okay with that, you'll have a great time. You can select from three packages- whirlpool, traditional, or deluxe. They all start with the whirlpool package, and then the traditional adds a massage and the deluxe adds a massage and a paraffin wax treatment. You could pick any and be happy- I think it's great rates. All packages start with the whirlpool. That includes four things- a soak in a tub, sitting in a sitz bath, hanging out in a steam booth, and a towel wrap. These are the same treatments that happened in the late 1800s. You can see them all in the Fordyce Visitor Center if you want a preview! When you get there, an attendant will help you store your things and wrap you in a big sheet. You can wear a bathing suit or nothing at all. Honestly, if you're okay with it I think wearing a bathing suit is probably the more cumbersome choice, but it's up to you. The attendants take all steps to avoid looking at you, but for some parts it's inevitable that they will see everything. After you're wrapped up, a bath attendant will get you and set you up in a tub to soak. After the soak, you'll move through the three stations, ending with the towel wrap. They give you water throughout and are very caring to make sure you're comfortable. Nothing about the treatments is uncomfortable except the water can be very hot. If you just got the whirlpool package, that's the end of your stay. If you got either of the other packages, you'll get the massage and then change and get the paraffin treatment. Then you take the historic elevator down and head out. The entire experience is very relaxing, and I took some time to sit in the chairs outside afterwards and re-enter the real world. They do ask for tips along the way, but you can tip at the end with an app or with cash. I didn't think these requests were overbearing. If you have an interest in the history of Hot Springs, love a bath experience, or just want to try something new, I highly recommend it. Ok so I like probably every other white, mid-30s girl has an innate compulsion to go to anything with the words "hot spring" in it. I couldn't resist visiting this Hot Springs place during our trip to Arkansas. I did some research and was a little bit surprised at the lack of options. I quickly learned that there are basically two place to go. This place and the Quapaw or whatever one. The Q one is supposedly a more modern and luxurious version. You can make appointments, they have a bunch of options for soaks, massages, facials, mud things, and the option to have a session with your partner or friends. As a bougie bitch, this seemed appealing and especially the option to book appointments online. You can only book certain packages online and not the one I wanted to book. There is literally no way I am picking up the phone to call to speak to a human on the phone to make an appointment so that was that. This left the Buckstaff one which, and don't tell GF this, I secretly wanted to do. It's supposed to be more "authentic". I can go to a spa anywhere, anytime but it's not every day you can go to a historical experience like the one provided by the Buckstaff. I was a lil apprehensive by a few things I've seen in reviews so let me clear some of this shit up for you: 1. I saw complaints that the staff were not nice and rude. I didn't have this experience at all. Everyone I interacted with from start to finish was very nice and friendly. Hillary, the attendant with me, could not possibly have been nicer or better. The masseuse was also fantastic. 2. I was a little concerned about the inability to make an appointment because, especially when one is on vacation, time is of the essence and I HATE waiting. We actually arrived around lunchtime and they were taking a break until 1:15. We grabbed a bite to eat down the street and came back around 12:50. The queue did not take long and we were brought upstairs immediately. 3. The assembly line vibe: yes you go from one station to another and yes they try to accommodate a lot of people. It's crazy to me how people complain but then also simultaneously complain about the lines/wait. You can't have it both ways. Regardless, can you blame them? What else do you want to do in between stations? Stare at the wall? Twiddle your thumbs for 30 seconds? It didn't seem like an issue to me. If you're still reading: you go into a little dressing room, close the curtain, take your clothes off, and leave your shit in a locker. They then cover you with a sheet and you wait to be called to the first station which is the thermal soak in a private tub. It is HOT. I'm glad I didn't pass out. You can wear a bathing suit but i did not which was a good choice. You are then assisted to lay down on a table where you are covered with hot towels. This is very nice but again thought for sure that I would die until they placed a cold towel on my face. This made all of the difference and brought my body temperature down to a more acceptable range. The next station is a steam box followed by a sitz bath. I then had a 20 minute massage that was absolute heaven. It was certainly a unique experience and I can't say you can have it anywhere else. Its walk in only, they start you with a hot whirlpool, then a Stiz bath for your lower back followed by a super hot neck down sauna( I will have a hard time eating a lobster from now on!) the lay you down on a bed wrap your back in a wet hot towel then wrap your body up in a cocoon to hold all of that heat in aaand wrap a cold towel over your head and face ...... very nice The staff is wonderful at everyspot. read more

My daughter and I got to the bathhouse mid morning on a Friday on there was no wait. We choose the Deluxe Bath package that included a 20 minute whirlpool mineral bath soak with loofah scrub, 10 minute sitz bath, 4 minute vapor cabinet, 4 hot packs, 20 minute massage and hand paraffin treatment. Kathy was our initial greeter and later helped with the paraffin treatment; she was awesome! My attendant Shadow, was friendly and made me very comfortable. She described each treatment throughly. She admitted she was not as fast as some of the other attendants but I enjoyed the extra time in the tub and on the hot towels. Cooper's massage was excellent; it was so relaxing. I went today, and I want to start off with the good. It is first come first served, but I had to make an appointment for a facial. My facial was phenomenal. Christina was my aesthetician, and did an amazing job. Even other patrons commented on how good my skin looked. The bathing experience was so relaxing, but be prepared to feel like a puddle getting out of the tubs. It's so warm and relaxing that I felt like I could just melt. The wrapping was my favorite part. Latoya was my bathing attendant and she was awesome. She let me feel how hot the towels were and instructed me to lie down when they felt comfortable to touch. She then gave me a pillow for under my knees and wrapped me in the hot towels with one cool towel on my forehead. I would have stayed like this for hours. Next was the steam booth and the sitz bath. I left feeling so rejuvenated! My body doesn't hurt for the first time in 5 years. Now for the nitty-gritty. Plan your whole day around this. When walking in I was told a 60-80 minute wait. Ok! No problem! However upon arriving in the locker room, I realized that was not an accurate estimate. I kept worrying about missing my facial at 1. At 12:45 they let me get redressed and sent me to my facial. By this point I had already been waiting for over 2 hours in just a towel but no services. Once I returned from my facial I only had to wait another 20 minutes, but just sitting in a hard plastic chair that long, let's just say I really needed my hot bath! This is not a spa like you would find in your typical city. This is a historical bathhouse and the vibe is still very much historical. It's loud and hot and wet, but it's a great way to relax and rejuvenate if you can handle the wait. read more

We stopped in Hot Springs, Arkansas for the night on our way home to Vermont. We heard of Buckstaff Bathhouse from the Hampton inn rep. Hubby and i enjoyed our baths. The whirlpool bath, warm towel wrap, the steam box and the sitz bath were all wonderful. The staff were very nice. I definitely recommend this place. read more

What an amazing place dating back to 1912 to visit and take advantage of all its amenities that are still in use. The lovely lady there that took care of my baths, LaToya, was simply AMAZING and so very nice! And let's not forget about the natural hot springs - oh yes!! on a recent trip my sisters and i wanted to experience the spa treatment and we were not disappointed. we were told to t was a 3 hour wait throughout the process but we enjoyed 2 hours here. after singing all the necessary forms we were taken up an old fashioned elevator. then given instructions to take off clothing to be wrapped in a toga sheet. i saw poem of other women in bathing suits. we opted for just the sheet. then we waited to be called for our individual baths. it was amazing with an old fashioned motor for the jacuzzi feel. stayed here 20 minutes. Latoya came in and scrubbed my legs, feet and back. she was the sweetest person here. she set my water at a perfectly hot temperature. loved it. we then moved to a hot towel wrap on a table. she placed the hot springs towels on my back and legs. then a cold one on my face but was fabulous. after almost falling asleep peacefully, i was awaken for a the steamer. old fashioned one. my sheet was removed and i entered this metal steamer that only showed my head sticking out. felt funny. lol. after a few minutes i was moved to a small sit in bath for my hip and bottom. i think it was supposed to be hot but it didn't feel like it to me. i sat with my sheet still on me. afterwords my sheet was changed and i waited for my 20 minute massage. it seemed very mechanical. maybe it was lunch time but i was glad it was over. after i changed into my clothing then i moved for my hands to have paraffin wax. i opted for the lavender and my hands were smooth and soft. overall. i loved it. my sisters did too they each had different attendants than i did but hats off to Latoya read more

amazing, authentic bathhouse experience!!! it was a bit busy when i went by myself in the afternoon around 1:45pm and the bath attendant seemed a bit overworked. i did the $89 traditional bath experience and it lasted about 3.5 hours or so. i didn't have anywhere else to be, so i wasn't bothered by the time. overall, it was a great experience and i am very pleased! i hope to be back sometime. if you've been to the fordyce bathhouse museum/ visitor center nearby, the buckstaff bathhouse has a somewhat similar overall bathhouse layout. your bath experience is private. there are curtains for privacy. for the pack room, there are others (of the same gender) on beds adjacent to yours. you'll be given some thermal spring water to drink during your experience (hot/ warm or iced. i would recommend iced because the 80-90° temp and 80% humidity can cause you to feel a bit hot and mildly dehydrated after a bit). a locker is provided to put your belongings for safekeeping. i did not wear shoes during my experience. you may choose to wear a bathing suit during your experience or go fully nude. i opted to not wear anything. the attendants are the only ones who would see you nude at any point, so no need to worry about other guests/ customers! there are no phones or camera devices allowed in the bath area. it's helpful to visit the bathhouse's website beforehand for a complete list of services, pricing, hours, and FAQ answers. bathing is walk in only, other services like facials, manicures, and pedicures are by appointment. I was burned by ASIA, an attendant at the bathhouse when I went there for the Deluxe bathing package. She burned me by sitting me in scalding water and then laughed about it. When I complained to manager Chelsea at the front desk I was given a partial refund. I called back a week later to ask if Asia was still working there. Manager Chelsea told me that she was and that she could not fire her after just one time. She said "I spoke to her about it and she said she has a nervous laugh". So Asia admitted that she burned me and then laughed about it. Do not allow Asia to be your attendant at the baths, she is a cruel sadistic person who should not be working at this spa. read more

The lady who helped me was nice but the time spent there wasn't worth the money ... my husband went in before me and I got "done" way before him ... so now I'm left waiting for him... not to mention the tubs looked dirty and they had no handles or gripping on the bathtub surface so I was constantly slipping and hit my head on the back of the tub as my head was fully submerged cause I'm short. I had to hold myself up hanging over the tub just to stay afloat because there was no gripping to keep my self up... I won't be coming here again and I'll try my luck with a different bathhouse. read more

Both husband and wife's experiences included! My husband and I came to the Buckstaff on a Wednesday morning at 9am and were immediately taken back to our respective areas for our deluxe package experience. On the women side, my experience was amazing. Everyone was so kind and professional, explaining everything to me every step of the way. Latoya was my bath assistant and Robin was my masseuse. They were both absolutely incredible!!! They treated me like a queen!!! I felt very comfortable and relaxed the whole time. On the men side, here is my husband's review. "A fun experience for novelty of it. Relaxing but not luxurious. This is more for the antiquity than for the service and luxury. Don't expect to be with your spouse during the stay. She will be treated very well, especially in comparison to you (as she should). The gentlemen there were very professional but were gentlemen.... So expect the massage to be mediocre at best. I made reservations and paid in advance for facials, which they require. I asked if we could have one person start her facial while the others got spa treatments, so we could all finish at the same time. That was sadly beyond their understanding. The plan was to do the bathhouse from 8-10, then our 10:00, 10:30, & 11:00 facial times, respectively. Based on the advice of staff, my daughters and I arrived 15 minutes before the spa opened. There were maybe five or six people in line ahead of us. The three of us got called in at the same time for the mineral baths, which took 30 minutes. Then we went to the next 3 timed stations, all in one central room. After that, we were directed to one of 2 massage waiting rooms located on either side of the room. It was not a large area. I was put in one waiting area, and the other two got put in another. I waited in my waiting area from about 9:30 until 9:50. Concerned about the time, I reminded them that we had facial appointments beginning at 10:00. A lady checked her roster, found our names and called upstairs to let them know we were running behind. I sat for another hour In the small room in close quarters with a group of strangers getting progressively more filled with people, and went again to ask what the problem was. Out of curiosity I walked to the other waiting area and discovered almost no one in it, and the sign in sheet indicated my group had already come and gone on from their massages. I am not sure why, but the massage therapist in each waiting area would collect people from their side only, as opposed to collecting whoever was next in line. So, if you were directed to one area, you didn't wait long. Anyone put into that waiting area was taken ahead of people in the other side who had been waiting twice as long. After about an hour and a half, I started to complain. Other people in the room started bailing. One said she was too far behind her friend in the other waiting area, and another said she had to leave to check out of her hotel room. A manager acted as if there was "nothing she could do". I told her it was not rocket science. You have a master list with the names and times that each person checks in. You indicate "waiting area 1 or 2", and as their name comes up, you collect them from their waiting area. The two waiting areas were only about 30 paces apart from each other. Doctor's offices and basically all other businesses take people either with reservations or in the order they come in. You don't move ahead of the person who has been waiting for 45 minutes. As it turns out, I waited for two hours between my last station and the massage. By the time I got to the massage, I was agitated and couldn't even enjoy it. The same occurred with my facial, because I knew the other two ladies had long been finished and were waiting on me. I don't blame any of this on the attendants. This is a managerial issue, and extremely easy to fix. Although I did enjoy the unique treatments leading up to the massage debacle, Buckstaff's lack of organization ended up ruining the experience for me. Visiting Hot Springs during the quadruple threat of a weekend, spring break, a music festival, and the path of totality may not have been a good idea. My girl and I had VERY different experiences at our first visit to the bathhouse. She was pampered and treated like a queen, while I was pushed through like a widget on an assembly line. Not all of the services were available, the wait was atrocious, and I was made to feel like someone taking up their valuable time as I spent my good money to be there. DO NOT RECOMMEND!!!! People are front desk was very rude. We called ahead of time to see when they stop taking walk in. They said 2:45. We got there at 2:39. I walked in. & my husband was trying to find a parking spot since there was no where to park. They said he had to be in the doors at 2:45 even tho we still had to wait 80 mins before we could be seen they said. So make that make sence. All he had to do was park. I was in there holding out spot, but the lady & the man at front desk was VERY rude. We will take our business someplace else. We was there for our anniversary & was going to pay a pretty penny there also. DO NOT RECOMMEND. I'm no one to place a bad review on things but that was uncalled for. read more
