We're all trying to make it and do right by ourselves & each other in doing so. I'm grateful for their manager & team at Puyallup. I have a 1987 760 Volvo that needed maintenance and overall a diagnostic. (Old car doesn't have new chips) I've been to two shops getting this car worked on since May 7th, - thankfully Brian in Puyallup and his team took over the vehicle and immediately started figuring out what & why after everything they've done at the other shops, it wasn't running.. I usually stay away from chains but this Bucky's location is incredible. The staff are knowledgeable, fair, and will work hard to solve the issues with your car. Shelby is honest and communicates clearly about the service they perform. Bucky's, a good place where, anything you need, the people will do their best to give you the service you need. And by service, I mean working on cars. For the people, they're very patient. Knowledgeable too. Anything you might not know about your car, they may know. For example, when I got a catalytic converter stolen, people like Jeremy (the boss) informed me diligently on why it's so important and did a great job replacing it in the long run. For the service, it works like a charm. The service requested is never lacking for they (the workers and mechanics) take their time to put their best effort in working on the breaks (free inspection of these btw), inspecting the car's motor, etc. They value results, not what looks the best. Overall, Bucky's is a great place. Sure, some may prefer other places then there and that's fine, but to me, Bucky's is where I go to get my car stuff worked on. This morning, Nov. 27th, I brought my 2005 Subaru Forester in to have spark plugs replaced. After doing so, and doing a test run, I was able to drive back home. On the way back the car felt "off". Not too bad just enough something felt different. I figured it's just because new plugs were put in. However, later in the day, I needed to give my roommate a ride, and the car's driving felt even worse, even my roommate felt it. We stopped at Discount Tire and discovered a flat tire (front left). The fact the car felt off leaving Bucky's tells me something happened while working on it, and they either didn't notice (surely these car experts would notice driving felt off during their test run) or they just didn't care. I recieved an oil change here a few months back and they honored the coupon and gave me a free quart of oil. I recently took my car in for a new starter and second oil change and although I'm not sure how that service will go I appreciate they were able to help. Went in to get some work done on my vehicle. It wasn't broken down or anything just wanted some maintenance. I paid $3500 to get some work done on it. Asked to fix some leaks and a door handle. Got my car back, it was still leaking and the door handle was still broke. I took it back and they said there's leaked on both sides and wanted another $2500 to fix it. They are scammers that mis quote on purpose. They won't tell you the total is 6K to get it fixed because they want your money. So they lie to you so you spend money first. I took my car in for a simple kill switch installation recently. After 1 hour with my car, Donald left me with a broken speedometer, a new check engine light, and a messed up electrical system. When I asked Shane about it, he lied about the check engine light being on when I dropped it off. They offered to do free diagnostic work on the engine and the speedometer so I left my car with them for 2 full days but they "didn't have time to get to it". On the third day they did get to it and claimed the battery was dead and I needed an alternator which would cost over $1000. Shane also said my fuses were fine and he checked them. Took my car to a better shop for a second opinion and turns out I just needed a new alternator fuse, a 20$ part. All of the employees I met with at were incompetent and/or dishonest. I get the Bucky's Valpak coupon in the mail. It has a coupon that says 30/60/90 mile maintenance from 89.95. Sounds like a great deal and I need 60k done. I call into Tacoma location to inquire about the deal. Guy tells me "Oh no, that only includes an oil change and air filters"...what manufacturers's 60k maintenance is just oil change and air filters? I tell him my Honda needs a transmission and brake flush per manufacturer. He quotes me just shy of $500(comparable to dealership)...total bait and switch and false advertising. I was able to work directly with the manager at the bucky's on 6th after having a horrible experience at the bucky's on sprague. What started as a simple oil change turned into a nightmare. My truck, that I religiously maintained and never had issues with, somehow mysteriously developed a SEVERE oil leak and began having belts fail. Through constant communication and a very thorough inspection, the manager at 6ths was able to quickly take care of all of my issues. Or that they tried to upswell or take advantage of women etc.These people are doctors for our cars, no one can diagnose over the phone. I have a lot more to say here but more to the point my daughter needed some repair on Tabitha (her car) Bucky's repaired same day and did some extra work for NO CHARGE! Car repair is always more expensive than you want it to be but Bucky's was fair quick and even provided short term financing which was needed and appreciated. In an age where it's hard to trust any business it means the world to me as an overprotective opinionated father who wants to fix every problem himself, to see that Bucky's is a pretty stand up place!!! 5 stars boys! read more

Took my 92 Corvette in for simple front end brake job in which they needed to change both rotors and pads. The manager gave me a price that was very good on the phone so I went ahead and approved the work. They also promised the work would be done before they closed that day. I got a call later that same day at 5pm from the same manager that the warehouse sent the wrong rotor sizes and that the work would be delayed but would done by the next morning by 10am. I got a call the next morning around 10am from that same manager stating that he could not locate the right hand rotor anywhere in the state of WA and that the closest rotor was in Portland, OR and that he could not fix the car in the time frame he had promised. In short these people lie and don't keep promises to fix your car in a reasonable time frame promised!! Not a reputable business to deal with! read more

Went there to get front struts replaced on November 22, 2021. It cost $1,297. Then they said I needed to get the front end alignment fixed, and should go to Firestone. There was still issues with the car, and Firestone people told me the front struts were worn out. Meaning Bucky's didn't do anything, and I lost over a thousand dollars for nothing. read more

Great service. We called Bucky's in a panic as my daughters battery was having major issues. It was leaking sulfur and smelled so bad. The tech at Bucky's stayed late to help install a new battery and also made funny jokes about the smell. He cheered us up. These guys at 6th ave Tacoma shop are not mechanics! I brought in a Ford van that had not been driven in numerous years for replacement of stolen catalytic converter (which they were able to do) and a couple of breaks that were dragging due to sitting so long. Over the phone, they said they might just need cleaning which would cost $49 but needed further evaluation. Upon evaluation, the estimate turned into just shy of $3000 for breaks alone. I asked them if they could just back them off a bit so they wouldn't drag but they said they couldn't. They could only remove and replace. I declined and took the van home, disassembled the offending front break, squeezed the caliper piston with vice grips and reassembled. Removed plug from rear drum and backed off pads by turning the tensioner wheel a couple clicks with a screwdriver. Breaks then worked fine without dragging. Took me (not a mechanic either) about 2 hrs of work they wouldn't do for less than $3000. Shameful! read more

I brought my car here for a tune-up. 97 Thunderbird. When my car was done the cost was 150. more than quoted over the phone, my cost was close to 900., which included a new battery. They also broke a piece on my headlight that holds it in place. Ten months later that brand new battery needed to be charged. Exactly 1 year after a "new battery" is installed, it is completely dead. What? I took my car to a different repair shop, the battery shot. I had to buy another battery plus pay a core charge for the dead battery. I took the defective battery back to Buckys and talked to Kevin, who in turn told me that they can replace the defective battery, but not refund my money. Their tune up cost me over 1100.00. I will NEVER go back there and do not recommend anyone take their car there!! read more

Went in to get an installation, then one of the guys working there didn't end up calling me when my car was done, so I got there right before close, (FYI :they ended up putting my phone number down wrong in the system even though I wrote it down for them), got to the person who attended me in the first place then he told me he can't give me my car, even though it was done, because they had set the alarm for the place already for the night, so here I go having no car for the night. Once he told me that he was looking at me like if I was the moron and scolding me for not picking up his calls when he couldn't understand the difference between an 8 and a 4. I understand mistakes happen but there were multiple times he tried to make me feel like an idiot in the beginning and the end of encountering himself. I let him know 8 is 4 digits away from 4 though. But I think I came away with a bigger lesson which is don't go here... you live you learn. read more

Several days ago, I took my older VW to this location for an oil change and a tire rotation using a Groupon I purchased. Since my vehicle is a diesel, they told me that it would be slightly pricier than a normal oil change since they had to use specific oil for my car. That was fine with me, and I left my vehicle with them for about an hour and a half. They called me to tell me that they were finished with it, but that it also needed the front brakes replaced immediately. I let them know that I was taking my car in for major service shortly at a different auto shop, and that I didn't want them to service the brakes. I got the brakes checked today at a very reputable German Auto-specific shop, and they said there is nothing wrong with my brakes and that they definitely do not need to be replaced. I wouldn't bring my car back here, seems like they are trying to up-charge me for unnecessary services! read more

I didn't get anything done here BUT the dude (Shelby) working there was extremely honest and helpful which makes a huge difference. Especially to a girl like me, who knows nothing about cars. I was having problems with my catalytic converter and trying to find a place that could fix it without it being mad expensive and after showing me prices, Shelby suggested that I take it to Toyota because with my low amount of miles and my truck being fairly new it's possible the part could have been recalled. So now that we have an idea of how dangerous it is to have any faulty brake part to the driver and innocent civilians and from this we have come to the conclusion that brake failures is not just dangerous but also illegal for a shop to give you back a car with faulty brakes multiple times. The shop that did this to me was Bucky's Auto repair shop. I have not one but four invoices from them for giving me a bad brake job, ranging from the pads, routers, and calipers. Lucky for me I am not an often highway driver nor drive long distances often. If I had I would have never noticed my faulty brakes and could have easily endangered the life of myself or others on the road not knowing the problem. The first time Bucky's auto gave me a brake job I noticed lots of smoke coming from the passenger side wheel of the car at a stop sign by my home, I immediately took the car back to Bucky's where the repair was job done finding that the brake pads they put on my car where melting on the routers they had resurfaced; like I said earlier I am just glad this was by my house and not on the freeway where I may not have noticed the issue and could have had non-working breaks altogether. So, I take the car back to Bucky's as I had only driven it a couple hundred miles before this situation happened maybe a week before that. This time getting the whole front brakes re-done spending about 700$ on new routers, caliper, and hoses for the front side of the vehicle (which the mechanic said I needed; I wish he told me that before I forked over just 300$ to them a week before). I drive very few miles and another week goes by... What do you know? The left caliper (which they told me was new but remanufactured) was faulty - Bucky's then did a warranty repair job knowing how un-safe it is to have a faulty caliper has explained above. Not only a couple hundred miles go by and a couple weeks later my cars brake light turns on; luckily this function of my car was working and told me something is wrong, otherwise I would have never known until it may have been too late, riding on the freeway thinking everything is right; THEN BAM, NO BRAKES!!! (Which could have possibly led to injuries or even worse, death - Like I said before I am just lucky that I caught the problem as soon as it happened. I brought the car back into Bucky's auto and what do you know? There was brake fluid leaking everywhere on the driver's side of the vehicle and another faulty brake part, which they then "fixed" - As soon as I got the vehicle back I noticed that the car was pulling to the left pretty hard (which is a brake issue as noted above as well as after several inspections from different mechanics) to which I also have several witnesses who were there with me through this WHOLE ordeal; i.e. Dropping the car off, picking it up, seeing the faulty work etc. Right before I drive out of Bucky's parking lot I inform them of the car and how it is pulling, they tell me to bring it back a couple days later "because the problem well fix itself". Well, the problem didn't fix itself so I take my car back to Bucky's auto and let them know of the problem. One of the workers then goes on to tell me that "I'm blaming them for all of my car issues and that if I did not leave the premises he would call the police" (The manager was not in). The best I could say is that he gave me back a hazardous vehicle multiple times that could have put my life or the lives of others at risk and that was illegal according to WA state laws and that I would see him in small claims court and left the shop. I have multiple brake invoices of all the work and warranty work they did (Although they were reluctant to give me invoices for the warranty work for some reason). I also took pictures of the damage they did to my vehicle multiple times; As I am taking this matter to different state and local law agencies; While doing this I noticed all of the complaints against Bucky's Auto with multiple state agencies and the BBB. Seeing all the complaints against Bucky's made me even more frustrated that they are knowingly giving cars back to their customers in hazardous conditions, this is not just a onetime issue with this particular shop, as I read complaints from the BBB. All I can say is I am glad no one was injured over the faulty brake work they had given me three different times. WA's RCWS state what they have done to me and others is quite illegal. I am not willing to let this shop get away with what they did to me; Bucky's auto needs to learn a lesson that you cannot put a price on a human's life. What Bucky's auto shop did was not only wrong, illegal, inhuman, and dangers but just plain scary. When people go to get their cars fixed they do not expect to get them back in a worse condition then before, much less in a dangers condition that could have literally put someone's life in jeopardy.
