I took my daughter's Prius to Mary's simply because they were close, and her car was bad enough I did not want to drive it very far. They fixed it for way less than what I was expecting, and this tells me they are fair and not trying to gouge people. They also allowed me to keep the car there for several days due to me being out of town. Five star service, but I'll knock one half star off for communication. I left a note with the key saying I'd be out of town, with instructions on how to get a hold of me, my wife, or my daughter. I ended up calling them a week later (from Mexico) asking about the car. In fairness to them, I gave an okay to repair if less than a certain price point, and they fixed it accordingly. Four and a half stars - would go there again. read more

I've been here twice. The first time went smoothly, and I felt like got good service and value. The second time, a few weeks ago, were when I noticed that my car smelled like burning oil. They took it right in ( I hadn't called ahead) and looked at it while I shopped next door. They said that the smell was from whoever changed the oil last (4 months ago) had left the oil cap off. All of the oil was everywhere in the engine compartment. Mary's filled it with oil, and sent me in my way at no charge! Now the convenience chain is paying to have my engine detailed. As soon as my car broke down I had about 5 separate people tell me to "Take it to Mary's!!" and I'm so glad I did; I wish I could give 10 stars. I have an older car so naturally I've been to my fair share of repair shops, but I'm pretty sure I found my shop for life. My problem wasn't major but Mary and her crew were so quick with everything. Answering the phone, diagnosing and fixing my problem, even picking up my car - everything was fast and efficient. I could have picked my car up the very next day if I hadn't left on a camping trip, thinking it would take a few days to a week (like every other repair shop I've gone to.) Oh, and not to mention my bill from Mary's was less than what I paid to have my car towed there...! My jaw dropped. I was so relieved. Amazing customer service. Comfortable waiting area. Honest people. Got an inspection and estimate from Midas but I knew they it was incredibly over priced. Mary quoted me $200 less than the other guys. Told me they could fix it in a matter of hours. When they noticed it was going to take slightly longer they let us know right away. And even though it will take a little extra work she said they would try to keep it with in close range of what she originally quoted. I have never felt so taken care of when getting my car looked at, which is surprising because I usually get my car looked at by friends. A/C went out in my truck. Y'all know we only need A/C for about 4 months of the year!! And right in the middle of our recent heat wave of 80's+ (I'm being funny) my A/C dies. I called two dealerships- one said over a month out the other said three weeks... not cool! Literally! So my co-worker suggested Mary's and when i called they said, "just bring it in and drop it off!" I thought this wasn't real- no appointment?? So i did just what they said. So I just want to share with you guys...So I was told I needed repairs on my Nissan Maxima's axle half shaft and a new sway bar link kit ( Est. Cost @ $800!!!!! ) at FIRESTONE !....So I decided to take it a few other places to get quotes & a second opinion...So then took it to Les Schaub where they told me numerous different problems and said they wouldn't even TOUCH the axle without purchasing 2 new front tires !! Psssht! Then additionally said my engine mount needed replaced So they said I was looking at like over $1000 plus recommended $300 in new tires! So I was like OK I'll be back ......( yeah right! Not really lol) so went across the street to Jojo's Used Tires saved $150 on getting tires from a used lot (scoring) ! Then went home did some research. .read reviews etc...found MARY'S AUTO REPAIR and it had good reviews so I took it here to have THEM look at it!!!! OMG !!! I told them what the other places were quoting me at .....they basically TIGHTENED ONE SCREW on the sub frame which fixed ALL the problems we were having!!! The noise & the swaying of the stirring wheel!!! One screw!!!! I said how much do I OWE you guys? Mary said " NOTHING! ...FOR WHAT? ..tightening a screw? Lol" OMG I WAS SO HAPPY!!! They saved me like $800-$1000 !!! I 100% RECOMMEND this place you guys if your having car problems ..DO NOT GO TO FIRESTONE, DO NOT GO TO LES SCHAUB! I am very frustrated that I was lied to today. Yesterday, they claimed that they could possibly lower my price due to estimates from two other places (from $376), therefore insisting on keeping my car one more night even though it was ready. (Which of course really messed up my family and I's day today). Now, I would have accepted that they could not go lower due the work already being done, bur they said it was possible so I believed them. The same worker from Mary's then called me this morning saying that they called the same two places, (who the day before told me $320 and $345) and claimed he just called the same two places and they told him $475 and $520 respectively - obviously BS. And of course, after making me wait another day, refused to budge from $376. Feeling I had been lied to at that moment by Mary's about those astronomical figures, I did my due diligence and called those same two places again. They both said $360 this time, which was a bit odd, but still - nothing near the "$475 and $520" Mary's was claiming they told him that morning. I retrieved my car and paid the price, but I feel I was treated unfairly by being lied to twice, and totally jerked around. read more

My vehicle was inspected and charged $ 49.28 for and estimate given approximately $1500 without giving any details of part cost and labor cost. 6/27 In the morning handed over the van and asked to make most necessary repairs costing around $1000.Rest repair to be performed in phases as I will have money. No authorization taken and detail of cost of parts and labor given to me. I found it is law to give detailed estimate. In the evening I came to collect my van and was presented a bill of Total. $ 2153.16, after discount and adding tax Parts 1202.99 Labor 1110.36 I paid without getting into any detail trusting the shop. I noticed that the engine light was still on. Sunday and Monday shop being closed I came on Tuesday morning .After inspection it was found that spark plug was defective. All the 6 spark plugs and wire was changed on 6/27 and was billed as below Cost of 6 spark plugs 80.82 Cost of wire 66.90 Labor 224.88 Total 372.60 The problem fixed but by afternoon the engine light was on again. 07/01 I went again in the morning and this time it was another sensor. I bought the O2 sensor. Paid $ 43.81 total with tax from my pocket and it was replaced. I checked the bill and noticed I was charged 150 for this part . When I asked how you can charge 150 for a part costing 40, I was refunded $ 80. I noticed that I was charged 300% on pars and Unnecessary Labor charges. For coolant tank costing 40 I am charged 170 only for part. If I had gone to a an honest shop my bill would have been maximum 1300 not more. . . read more

Hit and a big miss. Have used Mary's for all of my families cars . Has treated me and my kids fairly and courteous. But when my wife dropped her car of to only have some air hoses replaced on Her car that had become brittle and leaky . They spent 4 days getting the parts only to charge 700$ for a total of $90 worth of parts. Don't know if they were taking advantage of her or not. But I know we were very clear to replace the hoses and then we would talk about other stuff.period. I'm so totally disappointed . I thought of them as reputable but now it appears they are more of the common taking advantage and not taking care of the customer. read more

Also this is a full blown shop they do a lot of auto repairs I would suggest checking them out prices are very fair! Estimated cost for parts/labor: $730 Actual cost parts/services: $846 Taxes: $81 My review is subjective. I called Mary's on a Friday morning. Was seen the same morning and the problem was solved same day. The estimate was slightly lower than the final price, unforeseen problems with automotive care is to be expected and Mary was upfront about the possibility. Mary charged fair value for parts and services. If I had the time I likely could have fixed the problems myself with no guarantees on outcome. Being able to drop off my vehicle on a Friday morning and have the problem solved same day is impressive. Thank You Mary! read more

Really good service here! Mary is super friendly and has great customer service. We originally went in to find out where our engine was leaking oil. She explained that for about $30 they would put a dye in the oil which sounded great to us considering we know nothing about cars. Unfortunately they didn't have the dye on hand and even after coming back an hour later it still had not been done. However Mary was very apologetic and and polite so it wasn't too big of a deal. The reason I gave this business 5 stars is simple. Everyone has that fear of the mechanic that quotes you $500 then ends up getting $1500 after you return with even more car trouble. Mary's is not that kind of shop! Originally she quoted us $834, but wen we came in she informed us that when they got into the motor one of the parts wasn't damaged and didn't need to be repaired. Our new total ended up being $650! So far the car is running great. Mary guarantees all work for 12 months. They are even dog friendly and keep milk bones behind the counter for furry four-legged customers!! read more

My car was taken in for a tune up and came out with a Blown engine. Took it to my regular mechanic and he said they blew a piston. I would never use them. They were rude and wouldn't admit to damaging my engine when it went in running fine. read more

The OBD was telling me I had a small leak in my emissions system that a previous shop failed to fix. May's was a dream to work with. I explained what I knew, I was given a good estimate for troubleshooting. They called me to authoriize the repair which was right in line with what I expected. O'reilly's recommended Mary's Auto Repair to me because my 1995 Honda Accord was lit up like a Christmas tree in all sorts of lights on the dash. O'reilly's couldn't find out what the problem was because they ONLY carry the OBD2 (II) tester to check the codes the car is giving that indicates the issue of the car, when or if the dash say's "check engine, SRS, ABS, etc." My car wouldn't start after an interview on the worst day of the storm last week! No one had the OBD1 (I) tester. So I called Mary's Auto Repair, and went over there. (I did have someone jump my car, which started up fast.) The car wouldn't start even when I arrived at Mary's Auto Repair Shop, so the guys in the garage pushed the car, and then started to work on it by testing everything! Battery, wires, anything that had to do with the problem! Come to find out later after 30 minutes, that someone DID NOT disconnect the "car alarm wire." Which is extremely dangerous because it can cause a fire! HENCE, why when the machanic showed me under the floor mat the cluster of wires that had BURNED a hole in the carpet were still connected to the battery! They pulled everything off and I had realized the car would of CAUGHT ON FIRE, if I hadn't had my battery shut down and get to Mary's Auto Repair. Note: They DID NOT charge me, for looking or checking the issue on my 95' Honda Accord. Problem: The "check engine" light was due to the EGR valve and O2 sensor needing replacement. I was curious as to why the price on the parts were so high and why they wouldn't give me the codes that I needed that tells me the issue. So, what did I do? -I researched online how much the parts would be, and whether or not the shipping would be free to ship to my home. Then I researched on "how to install _____" You can fill that in, for your own use. And it turns out I could easily do it myself (DIY.) I just looked on Youtube. The parts and labor were $400 + Labor Cost. My method: $130 Parts + Free Shipping. (Labor = FREE.) Mary's is a great place and she's honest but, I wouldn't charge customers so much for parts when it's not necessary. There are just some things YOU CAN do yourself. Here is a guy who I watched tons of his videos and got a lot of information on things I could do it myself (DIY) and save money, and time with on my car. He's pretty good. I thanked Jesus as me and my new friend high fived! It was a true blessing to be blessed like that, since I had no money for the $150 dollars. I liked that you can watch your car being fixed and asked questions. Everyone is polite and very relaxed. Just don't get angry at their prices. Their service was great overall! I just would say that it's TOO COLD inside. Since it's a new shop a lot has to be done still, so space heaters near the seating area would be nice. I made friends with another customer while there, and we hopped in my car and went to get some warm food and drinks at McDonald's until his car was done being fixed. University Place, Lakewood, and Fircrest, are small and most of know each other and are friendly, so I wasn't just picking up any stranger to hang out. I was hearing a squeaking noise so took the car to Mary's. She said I needed rotors and brake pads but would not give me a detail of the 400.00 charges they said the car needed. I had purchased the car just a few months ago and was told by the dealer that the car had new brakes. I felt uneasy about Mary's, so I drove down the street to Les Schwab. They said my brakes are great and the noise was probably just dust or ask from the recent fires... DO NOT TRUST MARYS!!! I'm an old lady but I don't like being tricked. read more

let me start this review by saying I really like mary, she has an awesome attitude not sure if this was Mary's fault or one of her test mechanics, but I took my car in because my transmission was acting up, it was supposed to cost me 90$ to have an entire diagnosis of my cars issues. I told her my transmission was slipping and that I already knew t needs an alternator. she calls me back 40 minutes later, saying I need an alternator and that replacing it may solve all my problems. she only charged me 45$, which I thought was cool because I was broke anyway. I replaced the alternator myself that night no problem, started up my car, and it was still slipping up when changing gears, and was still rumbling in the engine. the next day I call her asking if she could check it out again free of charge, she said okay and I took it to her. a man with long blondish hair took it out to test drive it and THEN I was told my transmission fluid was burnt. I paid good money to have my entire car checked out, and the fluids weren't even checked the first time around. If they were then I would've been informed of the fact when I took it in the first time. will not be taking my car here again for diagnostic checks, may still bring it in for part replacement. I'm very disappointed because I wanted to like this place, but I don't trust that Mary's mechanics will treat my car right. read more

Well turns out my fluids needed changed and my plugs were shot. $1000.00 later my heater works but now my car leaks oil. You would think after a grand for plugs and a air filter I would not get attitude for fixing something that should never have leaked in the first place. No.... I think Mary is a straight shooter; but her crew is apparently not that skilled. I took my truck in because sometimes it clicks and doesn't start. I'd already bought a new battery and changed the starter, and checked that good current was coming back from the alternator....but it continued. So, I said to myself, I am at the limit of my knowledge and experience, I need professional help, and this sucks, so I am willing to pay for a real mechanic to figure this out and solve it. Dropped the truck off, and $100 later had a new negative battery cable. But the next day, clicky clicky clicky. And the next day. So, I took it back in. They looked at it again and concluded my battery- the new one- wasn't holding a charge. Go get a new battery, she says. We'll see about that. Right or wrong, I'm out $100 and not a damn thing fixed. WE DO IT ALL? Well, apparently not; off I go into the sunset with my still clicking truck. Also, the truck also has a leak, with water coming in. 'Probably a windshield; go to a windshield place.' Mary doesn't know that I already had the windshield replaced when this started. Again, I come to the "pros" when I can't figure it out. And so far with this garage, they can't figure it out either, and they don't really want to- they charged me $100 to tell me to go elsewhere. So I brought my car here and was told it would cost around $700. I said okay. They called back and said $1400 a half hour later and I reluctantly said yes but I needed it fixed and it was already there and started on. It was given back to me and overheated before I even got home. Had it towed back and it was "done" the next day. After driving for 5 minutes it overheated again. I brought it back and was told it's gonna cost another $1300 to fix it. Wow, okay well I already put a ton of $ in it and the car is only worth about $2900 so I said ok. 2 weeks later I finally get my car back only to have the engine light come on the same day. So I brought it back and had a sensor, the same one I had replaced the month before replaced again. Oh with a "complimentary oil change" now even though 10 miles before I paid her $38 for one why would I need another when it was just done. Well now it's 3,500 miles later, the car is overheating and the engine light is on. Also when it was there for 3 weeks the seals were all "replaced" yet leaks oil very badly straight from the shop, which didn't happen at all before. I'm extremely disappointed with this shop, I took my parents advice and went there because they said Mary was honest, only to find out they had never been there. She seems like a nice lady but I'm not paying for someone to be nice to me. I'm paying for good mechanic work. Also come to find out I was triple charged on many parts and no, that price did not include labor. The only thing I was billed correctly for was spark plugs. One $25 part I was charged $340 on. Either she should be shut down, or fire the idiots in the garage. read more

I brought in my newer 2008 used car for a check over this was $59 Had it for 3 weeks, but I wanted to be sure everything was good with it. They check it out immediately and recommended an 2 types of flushes for the car, plus some other services. I read about flushes this type of services are not needed for the car. They where trying to charge me $149+ for each services. From what I see the car was services at dealer most of its life, and i'm not a mechanic. The oil itself was not terrible, but after after couple days my car warned me of low oil, I put in a qt. Next day the car told me again low oil, and underneath the car was a puddle of oil, my car had lost few qt of oil. Leaked from the filter as it was loose. A mystery to me. I immediately went back and ask for basic oil change and to see what may cause the leak. Mary tried to push me into the other recommended services, to sell me dye to see where the leak was from and seemed discouraged I did not do it. After I had my oil change, I was billed $43. The special is $23? I waited for 2hrs for service I would think a quick oil change would not need to wait this long. I got the service agreement after showing the cost. I question it, I was told it was for 4qt, and mine took 5 qts, and other misc charges. It seem $8 on the extra qt of oil. I really hate being cheated by Auto Repair places, offering one thing and billing for another. I was a ongoing customer, and was looking for a more honest place to go to. After trying to sell me services I don't need and charging me more on an basic oil change, this I don't this I can go back. it hard to find a honest auto repair place, as it seems most are not. After getting my oil change the car did not leak oil again. read more

I had to stop into Mary's for an emergency repair on my car. The transmission seemed to be acting-up, but I wasn't sure. Since Mary's was the closet repair shop open on a Saturday (which is a plus) I stopped in there. They were fairly busy, but since I was desperate, the owner stated that she would look at my car as soon as possible. After about an hour, I was informed that the transmission fluid was "pretty smokey" and that they would change that and thought it would fix my problem. I left, and returned 3.5 hours later for an update. My car hadn't even moved. They stated that it "was next". When they were done ($175 later) my mother drove my car home and said that the warning light was still on. They literally fixed NOTHING and charged me almost $200. I went to my regular mechanic who informed me that my transmission was really bad and it would actually cost $1200. My car wasn't even safe to drive and he was surprised I even made it to his shop from my house. Definitely note recommending this shop to anyone. read more
