this place sells good smoothies and sandwiches etc But that's if you don't mind spending 21$ for a smoothie and a sandwich. Their salad lacks imagination however. Once I took it home and added, tomatoes, green onion, avocado and arugula it was good... Now a Salad with all of these things might have been worth the cost. Also too much ginger in the dressing. After months of anticipation, I finally made the trek over to North Van as a pre-housewarming party meal, since I was unsure of the vegan-ness of the food I decided to hit up this charming spot. The ambiance and great mix of light colored paints, wood, and a certain sense of DIY. They had quite an impressive range of drinks, salads, and sandwiches, along with other fine knick-knacks for sale or perusal. I had an Italian style panini that came with a side salad with a tasty dressing on top. To keep myself warm, I grilled it and had some type of pine needle tea, that left wishing I ordered somethign more traditional. Service was kind and friendly, and they have sell Four Sigma Foods Reishi Tea, which is AMAZING if you're looking to relax before bedtime, and significantly cheaper than Quidditas, where I usually get it from. No, no, no. These pictures are outdated and inaccurate! This place is so much more gorgeous (or should I say "Buddha-Full") than these photos! The vibe is relaxed and earthy, the menu board is creative and visually appealing, the staff is great, and the food is amazing! I was backpacking by myself in B.C. a couple of weeks ago and looked up places to eat.. this came up as one of the go-tos and I'm so thankful I went. I can't recall anymore exactly what I ate, but I had a wrap (I remember it having chickpeas, if that helps? lol) which came with a salad, and a green smoothie. The wrap was fresh and had full flavour.. nothing compared to anything I've ever tried from a mainstream juice bar (like Booster Juice or Jugo Juice). The smoothie was also amazing... to give you a better idea on how much I enjoyed the food.. the fire alarm went off for some reason which lasted about 10 annoying minutes and I sat there through it and ate my food happily. In fairness, I think the alarm went off due to a problem from one of the connecting businesses (and not a fault of their own) and they did ask me if I wanted to sit outside instead since it was so loud, but I refused. One of the guys smothered the fire alarm with his jacket which made it a little bit less irritating, but even then, I enjoyed my food THAT much. Don't forget to check this place out. Seriously. We found this place completely by accident and were pleasantly surprised -- vegan/raw in North Van! Ordinarily we aren't fans of raw food and it was a cool day so we chose something cooked -- the vegan muffins. We were impressed by the range of food, cooked and raw, though. Burgers, lasagne, wraps, etc. They have tons of smoothies but I don't like bananas and they all have bananas in them. Too bad. Our muffins were candied pear-ginger, and they had two other selections including pumpkin-chocolate chip, sold out. Their prices are comparable to Whole Foods: on the high side, but you pay for what you get. We liked their commitment to community and the environment, and the staff are friendly without "attitude". I realized later by myself you had to read a huge wall menu to find out what they have. But they could not explain the differences between the names of items. The veggie samosa I had was pretty darn delicious, and my boyfriend had the grilled cheese panini which he quite enjoyed. The service was friendly and the staff seemed like they were eager to help anyone with questions. All that being said, the prices were quite high. For a sandwich and a smoothie, you're easily looking at over $20. It's a rich neighbourhood, so I guess I shouldn't be too surprised. Still, I left feeling like I didn't get very good value for my money. If that's not a huge concern for you, then Buddha-Full is a 5 star establishment. PSA to anyone who works out at John Braithwaite. This place is literally a block away and offers the best protein shakes in the world. This is my favourite part of hitting the stacks. My BF always gets the LOBO (peanut butter and bananas and protein) but you really can't go wrong with any of the flavours. I've tried a bunch and have yet to. That being said, this place is pretty pricey but honestly that's to be expected. It's super hipster though, so if you can't get over that then... oh well. read more

NEW LOCATION @ Dollarton Hwy - An unfortunate beginning... This location just opened and we've never been to the other one. We were so looking forward to trying this out because we are vegetarian and there is only 1 other vegan eatery east of the Seymour. We walk in on a Sunday around 1 pm, hungry and ready to eat. It was moderately busy and the decore is right up our alley. That's what the 1 star is for. We try to read the menu on the wall and the writing is smallish but to our surprise we see no prices. We heard from our neighbour they got a smoothie there and paid $11 to find that it tasted just like juice. But that didn't deter us from wanting to try it out ourselves. We ask a girl with very short dark brown pixie hairdo if she had a menu with some prices on it for us to look at. To our dismay she aggressively announces in a loud and condescending tone, "WE DON'T HAVE PRICES, WE WON'T BE GETTING PRICES FOR A LITTLE WHILE." In response to our somewhat puzzled looks she adds, "ALL THE PRICES ARE ONLINE", then abruptly shuts the conversation down starts talking to someone else. I typed that exactly the way she came across, in all caps "how dare you be low class enough to not go online and check the prices before you walk in here" tone. Let me clarify that we are dressed in clean attire without holes, we are well-manicured, normal people who speak to others in kind tones. We are also not poor or cheap, plus we eat out ALOT. My spouse works at one of Vancouver's high end restaurants where guests regularly spend $1000 or more per meal and they have menus with PRICES. The main thing about this experience that appalled us is that a person working in a service capacity could speak to people as though she owns the place and doesn't actually care if people like it or not, and this in IN THEIR FIRST WEEK IN BUSINESS in a new location. We walked out, got into our car and drove 8 minutes over the bridge to spend $60 at Tacofino on lunch, where we had wonderfully friendly service, great vegetarian food choices, and PRICES. By the way, we did go online to their website to check and there are no prices there either, so pixie girl was not only rude, she was also wrong. One day, I'm assuming we'll actually end up eating here since we live nearby but for now that very first impression that they had only one chance to make was blown to smithereens by one single employee. Stopped by here for lunch during Car Free Day. It was busy but I've always wanted to try it- their decor is rustic and they carried many local and intriguing non-food items for sale (ie artisanal candles, soap etc). The 3 salads we tried were amazing mostly due to the dressing. Flavours included ginger, and peanut dressing. Reminded me that vegan food isn't boring (and feeling inspired to search for a vegan cookbook now!) Inside the cafe is a bit warm (no a/c) but we lucked out and was able to snag one of the few outdoor patio tables. Score! read more

My theory is this place gets lots of great reviews because the cafe is beautiful, everything is very prettily packaged and it all lives up to that clean living scene. Good for your Instagram, but so good for filling your stomach. I really want to support vegan and gluten free restaurants on the North Shore but this establishment was disappointing for me. I had gotten take out there previously and was disappointed with the quality of food for the price but it seemed like a nice ambiance so decided to try it for sit down dinner as a date. We went at 7 PM on a Saturday night. They were out of 3 of the ingredients that we wanted to order. The girl at the till said it was the end of their cooking cycle - so I guess Saturday night is not a good time to dine there. The table was dirty and I asked for it to be cleaned. The other server was very helpful and cleaned it quickly but the food was caked on so it had not been cleaned in awhile. Also note that if you want to add a protein, the menu does not list a price but it is not included. I have to conclude that this is cafeteria style food and service at a sit down restaurant price. I grew up in North Van and HATED how there were NO strictly veggie restaurants in the area. Really thankful that this is changing. This juice bar is pretty awesome, it has good smoothies and lots of options for delicious food. It's a bit overpriced though. We got one wrap, a salad, and two cookies and it came to over $35. (They also don't have prices listed on the menu board, so could be hard eating here if you're on a budget). It's also a bit confusing how it says "100% gluten free, vegetarian, dairy-free" (or, something similar). I am gluten free but I HATE having to be the annoying person who always asks "is this gluten free?!?" I love when restaurants just straight up tell you. So, I assumed that all the wraps/sandwiches were gluten free and ordered a wrap. I'm not sure if it actually was gluten free because it tasted so good (as opposed to those crappy, fake rice wraps). I didn't have a reaction, so either gluten doesn't actually affect me or it actually was GF. A mystery that could've been solved with a simple question. Just means I'll have to go back! read more

This vegan/raw food/smoothie bar in Lonsdale is for the healthyvore. The deli-cafe has a trendy urban yuppy-hippy vibe going on, like Saltspring meets Kitsilano. It was quite busy when we were there but we scored an alfresco table out front. The raw nut burger was wrapped in lettuce with avocado, tomatoe, cucumber, sprouts, and a carrot as a tooth pick. We also tried the Med panini with daiya cheese and found it a bit dry. All in all I thought it was quite pricey for what you get. Over $20 for a lettuce wrap and small smoothie. I have to agree with the other comments about the unfriendly staff. Unfortunately, the rude behavior of one of the girls behind the counter was a huge turn off. Her "personal" conversation with a friend standing at the counter who was NOT ORDERING ANYTHING was more important than the other patrons that she gave dirty looks to if they attempted to order. Their menu has some good things, I have tried smoothies, food and dessert items. The smoothie was good, the food mediocre and honestly the dessert items are hit and miss. I love the decor in this place, but not the staff or the prices. They are over priced, there is no way to argue that, but I guess with a lack of options on the north shore they get away with it.
