    "Hamburger steak" juice.

We are trying to support local businesses during the COVID pandemic. So tonight was Buddy's turn. We did a phone order and were told it would be ready in 20 minutes. We got there in exactly 20 minutes. We were greeted by a nice gentleman who got our order and brought it to us. We paid him and left a tip. We live 8 minutes from the restaurant. My husband liked the fried pork chops, but the breading fell off, and he was left with a pork chop and a pile of breading. Jambalaya he got as a side with them was acceptable. My mom got a hamburger on a bun, and I got a hamburger steak. It is in no way a hamburger. It should be called sloppy joe. It's ground meat (of some kind) in a strange liquid sauce or something. My 83 year old mom took one bite and asked for me to cook her something else. The hamburger steak was the same meat. Fries could have been good, but they were ice cold, kind if of gray in color and limp, like they were cooked a while ago. The onion rings were flavorful , but were cold and greasy. The salad had really nasty, old lettuce mixed in. It was definitely not refrigerated, because it was room temperature. The pieces of romaine were big, and only the green outside leaves. It was difficult to eat. I'm not used to having to cut the lettuce with a knife to eat it. I really wanted to like this place. I see it every time. I go to Walgreens and wanted to give it a try. Maybe we just ordered the wrong things. Maybe they should have descriptive notes on the menu that the burger isn't a burger, etc. I am including photos of the hamburger juice, nasty salad, and greasy onion ring bag. I should have taken pictures before we threw away the food. This is what was left as I cleaned up

Warm and welcoming atmosphere as soon as I walked in. The place is fairly small and hidden. We stopped here as our last stop before leaving NOLA. I got red beans, rice and pork chop. This was their special on Monday. The plate came with a small side of salad, including your choice of dressing, butter bread, red beans, rice, sausage and pork chop. The pork chop was excellent, well cooked and well seasoned. The shrimp and fish poboy was delicious. The owner was super friendly. He also recommended me a nearby business for sausages.

Absolutely horrible. I ordered the shrimp Po boy which was so small my infant toddler could have eaten it and still have been hungry. I also ordered some onion rings. For $4 I got five onion rings of medium to small size. Are you freakin kidding me!! Then I called the restaurant no one seems to answer around 230 because they close at 3. The order below was $20 and that's what i got!!! I'm furious!!! Will never order again and I will be calling the restaurant to complain

    Hamburger poboy

Absolutely terrible!!! The hamburger poboy was grounded up meat that was not even a patty. The fries??? Don't know why they call these fries! Never again!!!what a waste of money.

    Ribs for daysssssssssss!

One of NOLa's best, local sandwich spots right off of Veterans. I recommend the shrimp poboy to go.

Buddy's is under new ownership. The food is awesome! The shrimp are seasoned a little spicy but perfect to me! Love this place!

The guy…read morecarving the brisket, obviously the cook/owner, heard me say I had never been there before and he cut me a generous piece of brisket to try while I was waiting. Wow, it was delicious! He told me everything is made in-house including the sausage I was waiting for. I usually get sausage at seafood places at lunch that are small, so I order two. These links were large enough for two people, and also smoky-flavored delicious! They came with homemade pickles and homemade pickled onions and bread. The lady checking me out was so friendly -the whole vibe was typical NO, which is a refreshing and familiar feeling from lunch places everywhere growing up. As a several generation native, places have changed a lot since Katrina, so it's nice to feel like I'm in a real place with real food. Went back after work to bring home a variety of menu items for the family. The ribs have a great rub, the brisket as I said before is so good and tender. The BBQ chicken and brisket was the best I've had anywhere in NO , including some way more expensive places near City Park. A fantastic mac & cheese with just enough jalapeno (I always add Tabasco to mac and cheese & this didn't need any, it was perfect). My family loved the beans-it is all around a great place. So many more things to try! I'm glad I found this place!

She said nope no more. I said awww I came all the way for them she said "should have called" I said I did but no answer and that's where she got very rude, well you see we're busy. So I brushed it off and said ok well, I'll try your jack Mac n cheese, mexi corn and dirty rice. (Figured I'd order something while I was there) she told me the total and walked away. I pulled my money out and put it in the counter. This woman was maybe in her 40s kinda heavy with long braids. When she came back to the register she just stood there staring at me "she said, "so how are you going to pay!?" I'm just in shock the way she was so rude, I said "cash" and I pointed at it on the counter she said "put it in my hand" I said "put it in your hand"!? She smirked and she said it's only proper! I'm like wow Then she grabbed the money angrily! I'm thinking what did I miss ‍ I feel like she was being racist! I'm not African American and I could not imagine why she treated me that way so what else am I supposed to think. Can you believe that the review I left on their page the owners responded by insulting me and saying my review was total bullshit! very unprofessional. They act sweet with the good reviews but if they get a negative review they should learn from it. Not talk crap about you and tell you your review is bullshit especially if they weren't there! They should ask the girl I described she'll know exactly what I'm talking about. I thought the Mac and cheese was good, corn was ok and the dirty rice was TERRIBLE! sure the bbq is good but not everything on the menu is great. Don't order the dirty rice unless you want to be disappointed.

Roderick did a great job preparing and serving our food as well as checking on us a couple times. I had a rib platter and my wife had the brisket sandwich with fries. I was so excited to go to this restaurant. I had seen it when I was exploring the French Quarter…read morethe day before. I decided to walk down there and they didn't really have a lot of business, but it was late so I figured that that's why. When I first showed up I was sure if they were open. I saw people but stood there waiting to be greeted. I wasn't the only one that had this issue. There were two gentlemen who came up asking the same question and eventually asked me if they were still open. I ordered the bbq pot plate. The pork was a bit salty for my taste. I put some bbq sauce on it though and it helped. Then the potato salad had waaay too much mayo in it. Felt like mayo salad with bits of potato. The corn bread just fell to pieces when I went to pick it up and didn't taste great. The beans also were so hot I couldn't eat them with my meal I had to finish them last. They gave me what other restaurants would use as a water cup, the small plastic ones, to get coke and the machine wouldn't make ice. It was super hot and muggy outside so I was looking forward to it being cool where I eat and nope, it was hot. I couldn't feel any difference between outside and inside. My advice is to just go somewhere else. When a place can't greet you, isn't great at making food and is not comfortable to sit in I wouldn't suggest it.
