Upon entering, you get the feeling of a classic Deep South crawfish mom and pop feel. Simple tables and a bunch of food bar seating. The menu is pretty straight forward. We got the last batch of crawfish for the night and they still had a few hours to go. So get here early. They also were out of the pork side. We settled on the eloti corn and stuffed artichoke to compliment our 5pbs of crawfish. The crawfish broke apart effortlessly and were not over cooked. Had a great seasoning. We thought the side sauce was good but completely overpowered the crawfish so we didn't use it. The corn and artichoke were really good!!! Only negatives: 1. Ran out of crawfish early 2. Parking can be a little tight, but both times I visited I was able to grab a spot without too much trouble. Once you get your food, you'll quickly forget about the parking anyway. I ordered the special that came with 3 pounds of crawfish along with sausage, corn, and new potatoes, plus their house dipping sauce. First thing I noticed was the quality of the crawfish--they were excellent. Good size, fresh, and very well cooked. As for the flavor, it was fantastic. The seasoning wasn't overly spicy, but it had a really nice balance with a slight citrus note that made the whole boil incredibly addictive. In short, it was to die for. Small trailer-like location with off-street limited parking. We drove by the blue building before finding it. Hardly anyone eating in; lots of to go business. Order at counter, sit & food is brought to you. Went all in - 4# crawfish ($7/lb) and an order of hush puppies (5-6 for $4) for me, a pound of Royal Red Shrimp ($17/lb) and an order of potatoes (about 6 for $3.50) for him. Sodas are bottled, not fountain @ $2.50 ea. It took me a minute to get back in the "swing of the peel," but I did, and after 4#, I was full. Plenty of meat on them and were perfectly seasoned. No burning lips. Hush puppies were very tasty & cooked through. Potatoes were nicely seasoned. I don't care for shrimp, but a small bite of husband's Royal Reds told me I might have found a shrimp I could eat. Was definitely not "shrimpy." 1# was plenty and he had a couple left over. Returned the next Saturday for the same thing (minus hush puppies, to save room for my crawfish) and still yummy. We came here for dinner after having Clesi's. We got the sweet potato tots, boudin balls, and a lb of crawfish. The boudin balls weren't good. At first, it had a strange taste to them. The sweet potato tots were soggy but they're good. I wish they didn't put honey on it or whatever it was. The crawfish was cooked well but weren't as seasoned as Clesi's. Just ate here for the first time. Wow! Crawfish were amazing! Royal Reds were just as good! Also had Cowboy Crack which continued the trend of amazing! Steve met us and introduced himself as soon as we walked in. We told him it was our first time trying his place. First thing he does is offer a sample of his crawfish. Bugs were a nice spice, not too overpowering and a great size. Royal Reds were the best we've had. He does them better than we've had in Alabama. Cowboy Crack is great pork belly bites and the sauce definitely compliments them. The service is great and very attentive. So much more to try on their menu! We will definitely be back! I was curious if I should order the crawfish or not and the girl offered to give me a couple of crawfish to taste it before I buy it which I thought was pretty awesome of her. I ended up ordering crawfish, cowboy crack, shrimp Diablo poboy, and cochon de lait poboy. The crawfish had some good flavor not too spicy. But not the best crawfish I ever had. I am very snobby about crawfish. I'm from Lafayette and was pretty convinced there was no good boiled crawfish around New Orleans. However, this place is solid. The crawfish are clean clean. The flavor and spice is right. The staff is great. The decor is cute. I docked them one star because crawfish should come out steaming hot and these were just warm. Let me start by saying that these people are PASSIONATE about what they do and IT SHOWS!! I've been in this place four times and every single time is perfect. We've tried several appetizers, all delicious but the boudin egg rolls are out of this world. The shrimp diablo is great! Don't be fooled by the name... I personally don't like too spicy and this poboy has the perfect subtle kick. All poboys we've tried are really delicious and it's not only because of the perfect bread but also because the chef loves his menu items... he knows what he is doing. Another MUST-TRY is the bread pudding, if I could've lick that plate hahaha I would've because that sauce was exquisite ! Their daiquiris are also great, they change the flavors periodically but whatever flavor they make, I can assure you that you will love it. The environment is also lovely, the people working there are super nice, it almost feels like home. Tried the Cajun Street Corn, which was very salty but also very good. Despite the salt, I couldn't stop eating it. The boudin eggrolls were decent. I understand they use Bourgeois boudin which I find a bit liver-forward. Would have been nice if they added other fillings to complement the boudin. I couldn't quite tell if there was cheese in there or not. Otherwise, it was fried crispy and the sauce was a nice complement. Finally, I was super excited about trying the seafood stuffed bell peppers, which the menu states the #1 ingredient is crab. I ordered these to go. Was very disappointed to find that the peppers are purchased and then reheated to serve, rather than made in house. Yes, they are made by a local company, but I can purchase these in the grocery store rather than a restaurant. Because I asked for it to go, I was given the option to take it cold to reheat at home. This is the only reason I knew it was a packaged food. Otherwise, it would have been serve reheated as a regular menu item. And the #1 ingredient is breadcrumbs, not crab. It's fine if they choose to serve a packaged item, but I think it should be identified as such on the menu. Previously this venue offered an expanded food menu and some of the former menu items looked very good and I wish they still offered. The boiled crawfish is also highly rated, so I'll likely return again to sample their boiled selections. read more
