Buddy's date night! Mozzarella Sticks & Pepsi Zero Sugar 20 oz

Posting because I found an amazing halal hack for non pork eaters. I have always been jealous of the antipasto salad because it traditionally comes with ham and salami, but now you can sub halal pepperoni! Why is this extra amazing you ask? Because it comes with the Wisconsin brick cheese that is cool, creamy, and has a delightful chewy texture. I just love the way it's chopped. We had Jillian as our server tonight and she was fantastic. Friendly, attentive, hooked us up with our pepperoni substitute for the salad, and brought us out a new pizza when our first round was way over cooked. The second pizza was so good, crispy, and cheesy! I looove the vibes at Buddy's. It's a very nostalgic place and the patio is fabulous.

The buddy's bread was so good I would've only ordered a basket of that, it was warm, buttery, covered in parm, and honestly better than the actual pizza. The pizza itself was okay, I ordered a pepperoni deep dish. It wasn't bad, but it almost tasted frozen and was kind of a disappointment when I had traveled so far to try it. The crust was decent and the best part but the flavor didn't blow me away. That said, service was fine it was kinda empty when I went during lunch hours and I didn't get a refill the entire time I was there which was disappointing. That being said the buddy's bread made it worth it.

A local friend & I stopped in at 2:30 on a Sunday. We were seated right away and our server was attentive. I enjoyed a berry cider from Blake's (local to Michigan) as we ordered Buddy Bread, the Antipasto Salad, and a pepperoni 8 corner pizza. The food was delicious, I enjoyed getting authentic Detroit pizza! My leftover slices ever tasted great from the toaster oven the next day. The restaurant itself is a bit tired looking, but nothing crazy.

Ok, I am just going to start of by saying Buddy's pizza is amazing! Delicious. We had to try Buddy's as we heard it's a must when visiting Detroit. We used this Dearborn location and ordered online. Service was not very friendly or personable but they were busy and it has its separate to-go and pick up door and area. We grabbed our food and took it back to the hotel and devoured it. I would absolutely recommend and I love the cheese and that crust!

We wanted to try Detroit-style pizza, and Buddy's was the place that kept popping up. A classic old school pizza diner that has stood the test of time. I had to do some research about what defines a Detroit-style pizza: rectangular in shape; a chewy and airy crust; and caramelized cheese (ideally Wisconsin brick cheese) along the crust edges. Buddy's checked all those boxes. Wasn't too crazy about the appetizers, but the pizzas were amazing! The antipasto salad was the very definition of pizza salad with a random assortment of toppings, but I did appreciate the freshness of the vegetables. The minestrone soup had a thicker consistency than I was used to and reminded me of a chowder rather than a more classic tomato-based soup. For the pizzas, we had the Detroit Public TV (pepperoni and cheese) and the Super 6 Mile (ham, pepperoni, onions, mushrooms, green peppers). I'm normally biased towards more toppings, but in this case, I actually liked the classic pepperoni and cheese one more. For dessert, we couldn't pass up on their cream puff sundae. Definitely a keeper! Overall, a great way to start our trip. Definitely recommend if you're looking for classic Detroit-style pizza. And where better to get it than from where it all started?

First time trying Detroit Style Pizza! This was my first stop after landing and I was seriously craving pizza! I ended up at this spot and ordered The Detroiter. It definitely hit the spot and met all my expectations. The pizza came out super fresh like, the box was burning hot. The cheese was perfectly chewy and the spices were on point. I ordered a side of ranch to dip it in and wow... sooo bomb. It took about 15 minutes to make. It was worth the wait. The staff were really friendly and the place has both dine-in and a separate side for takeout or pickup orders. I just wish we had this spot back home in California. So glad I got to try it.

How do you visit Detroit and not try Buddy's for Detroit-style pizza? It definitely didn't disappoint! Our server was fantastic, super helpful with recommendations and made the whole experience even better. The food was great, and the pizza was absolutely worth the hype. We also tried the cream puff sundae (pretty sure it's a Michigan thing), and it was the perfect sweet ending. The place has that classic, old-school pizza shop vibe, which really adds to the overall ambiance. Definitely recommend

    My spicy Italian pizza

Pizza was fantastic! I got the 4 square spicy Italian pizza and it was thick and flavorful! My only negative comment was the evening I went (7:30 PM), it was nowhere near busy but my server was very unattentive. I finished my food, after waiting for a while I finally asked another server for a to go box. That server never brought it either. She never even came out of the back then about 10 minutes passed and she came out with the check. I was eating solo so it wasn't a wait time for a big part to finished. That part was disappointing, but the food was good enough that I'd go back and visit still and just hope to get a different server

Again...criminally undercooked. It's a different pizza if you can't get the edges even kinda brown. Why? Did some suburban knucklehead complain. The pizza should be no different than the original restaurant. Or just rename it Tepid Buddy's or something. Ordered 10 pizza...one or two came out OK. I walked over to another table to get a proper slice.

Pizza was delicious. It's a cross between a New York Sicilian and a Chicago deep dish. We ordered the Detroit, which had pepperoni and chunks of stewed tomatoes, topped with "Italian " spices. The crust is like an oily Chicago with crunch. The cheese was a good mozzarella; stringy. Definitely a must try.

I've been coming here for years, I just realized that I haven't done a review. The antipasto salad is always so good, so we ordered that and 8pc Detroiter pizza. I prefer the tomato basil sauce on the Detroiter pizza, it seems lighter and fresher. Anyway, the pizza was also very good. We had a great server, I can't find the receipt to mention her name. She was very attentive and sweet. The decor is fun and colorful, I noticed the booth we sat in was a bit torn up.

My search for finding a place to fulfill Pizza night has been filled. The scene is quaint, full of all sorts of people. Whether in town to watch the Wings or Big Blue perform, they also have full bar. Where, even you can get a snoot of Hendricks (gin), if you're in need of a drink. I'm stuffing my jowls on two, 4-squared pizzas- Greek town, and Meat Deluxe. All the while trying to be healthy with a medium sized antipasto!

Buddy's supposedly has one of the best Detroit style pizzas. It's sauce on top of the cheese instead of the other way around. We were meeting my hubby's friend here. They shared the All-Corner 8-Squared $22.99. I got the lunch special 1/2 pasta, signature side salad and buddy bread $9.99. I chose spaghetti and antipasto salad. The spaghetti was dry and the antipasto needed more dressing. I would pass on those and just get the pizza. The pizza is what they're known for and I can see why. The pizza was so good. The crust is deep dish, so the sides of the crust is super crispy. Their red sauce and cheese was delicious. They opted for no toppings. His friend said that the toppings made the pizza soggy. I would like to try one with toppings the next time just to see. They're cheese pizza people. I'm load on the toppings person.

The standout for me was the Short Rib Pappardelle rich, tender, melt-in-your-mouth short rib layered over perfectly cooked pasta. It's comforting but elevated. The Whole Deboned Branzino was incredibly fresh and flaky, cooked to perfection with clean, bright flavors that didn't overpower the fish. It's rare to find a place that puts this much thought into non-alcoholic drinks, and Tiliani nailed it. From the food to the atmosphere to the overall energy, this place is a solid five stars. It's a small restaurant but runs pretty efficiently. There aren't a lot of great seating options, so I think carryout is probably the way to go here. Or else arrive at opening or go during a non-holiday period. This place, despite the size, has a lot of personality and clearly a lot of repeat customers. In my short visit, I saw several people borrow one of the silver sharpies on the counter to write a message on the bricks, walls, counter, etc. The whole restaurant is covered with people's graffiti, which is kind of great because it just shows how much it is loved that people want to be part of it. Staff was very helpful and friendly. I ordered a medium pepperoni pizza, which was big enough to feed three people with light appetites. All three of us were very pleased with the quality and quantity of the pepperoni. The pizza was also served with fresh basil, which is a very nice touch. I personally think the crust and sauce could be a bit more flavorful, but it was still a very good pizza overall.
