Great pizza, great beer and great atmosphere. You have to order the famous Detroit's pizza.

We sort of hit a good food desert in Dearborn and were pleasantly surprised when we stumbled upon this place. Busy, noisy, and fun like a pizza place should be. The salads were great and the pizza was exceptional with a thick but crunchy crust and plenty of toppings. Their house beer is pretty good too. I wish there were one of these closer to me. Its Buddy's. What can I say. When i first found out that dairy was my stomachs enemy, I figured at that point Good Pies outside of California might be very difficult to obtain, but thanks to places like Buddys and Amicis, im doing just fine. They are obviously welcome to trying a lot of different things to make everyone happy and at home in their establishments, from different types of crusts, and now offering Daiya cheese as an option to people like me. Ive never had a bad Pizza from Buddys, even before when i could tolerate dairy products, always great ingredients and great taste. Its really an institution around here, I just wish there was a Downriver location closer than Dearborn. The last few times i have gone there, I have gotten their new Tuscan Vegan Pizza and its amazing, the lemon wedge is a nice little kick of flavor. Usually I just build my own with whatever i am in the mood for in the moment, but there are plenty of options. Service is usually really good. Sometimes slower than normal, but other than that they are very concerned with you leaving full and happy. Prices are a little high, but its not flavored cardboard, and they always have very helpful coupons on their site. read more

Been here twice now, and the second experience was better than the first. The bread sticks are tasty and there's no shortage of pizza types, but I feel that they don't cook the pizza long enough. I know the place is busy and not that large, but every experience has felt like they were rushing us out from the minute we sat down. The waitress we had last time could barely hold back her frustration because we took a little while selecting what we wanted. Also, the prices are pretty steep in comparison with the quality. Dont get me wrong, its not bad pie, but they really rush everything and it shows. I bet the original Buddy's is much better. read more

The thin crust wasn't that good but the Sicilian pizza was excellent. The service was friendly with an average wait time for food. Was not that expensive so overall a good eat! read more

A group of us Californians were traveling through the Midwest and had been eating for two days in hotel restaurants and corporate chains, and we needed a break! After checking in to the Dearborn Inn we Yelped up Buddy's and it seemed to fit the bill. A casual, local pizza joint that was easy to find and with plenty of free parking off the back alley. The hostesses lacked personality or any charm, and one young lady calmly led us to our table without a word and a quick fake smile. But our waiter made up for it with a friendly vibe and efficient pace. He explained they now serve locally brewed beer, which must be an exciting new development for Detroit although West Coast cities have been doing that for 15 years. We had a few of the local blonde ales and they were serviceable, if not fantastic. They were served in the bottle, but without a chilled pint glass to pour them in. When in Rome, as the saying goes, so we just smiled and drank the beer out of the bottle with the locals. The mozzarella sticks tasted a bit flat, but the pizzas we all had were absolutely delicious. I'd return for the pizza any day! The décor has lots of Dearborn/Detroit photos and references, which were fun to look at. The dining room is typical sports bar/pizzeria and is busy and with plenty of TV's tuned to local sports, but overall it was not deafeningly loud. The local residents are kind of an earthy bunch prone to modest living, but they are polite and reasonably friendly when approached. Buddy's seemed like a popular local hangout, and their pizza truly is fantastic. read more

Was craving a Hawaiian pizza, so my husband suggested Buddy's. Instead of pineapple pieces it was a huge pineapple ring on each piece, the sauce was BBQ sauce instead of pizza sauce, and the cheese was weird. Underneath the melted top cheese, the rest of the cheese had separated into tiny, little pieces, which were not appetizing at all to look at! Hands down the worst Hawaiian pizza I have ever had. I can appreciate the unique style of this pizza with the thick bread-like dough and the cheese on the bottom thought process, but it didn't knock my socks off like all of the Detroiters touted. Service was friendly and a bit delayed because of the Tigers game distracting everyone, Caesar salad was tasty. Probably won't be back, but only because of personal preference. read more

I don't think I've ever been more disappointed after eating a pizza. First off it is ridiculously overpriced. I had to pay $14 for eight very small slices with only one topping on them. That one topping was pepperoni and there were no more than two pepperonis on each slice, and the pepperoni was those little pepperonis that couldn't be more than half an inch in diameter. Some slices had one and a half pepperoni's because they would cut through the pepperoni when they cut the pizza. The worst part about it was the amount of sauce that they put on. They put two very thin lines of sauce (that didn't taste very good) on top of the pizza, and it wasn't nearly enough. I'm having a hard time understanding how this place is so popular, I guess it has its niche. read more

The food was great and my wait was not that long. Our server was very nice and drinks were always full. My only problem was where we sat. The drink station was right in front of me. It was like a meeting station for servers that had no work. A server with the first letter of the name t was on his cell phone half my meal and when he was not he was staring at me. Went back here this past Sunday after a massive road trip to Birch Run and X-Mas utopia land. The chicken tortilla soup here was AWESOME! They should bottle and sell it by the truck load. I'm from Chicago but I've got a huge secret, I HATE DEEP DISH! The pizza here is more 'pan style' the crust is really something special and they have an impressive amount of toppings to choose from. This Super specialty "Detroit Style Pizza" made a solid delivery being served in square slices. Wasn't greasy at all and the crust was cooked perfect (not razor thin and not overly soft). I would try some other pasta than the underperforming spaghetti pasta dish but the greek salad was a fabulous pairing with the pizza. I did a take out order so didn't get to see the inside of the restaurant but outside on an August Friday night, there was music playing outside and a nice sized crowd of people just enjoying the Dearborn evening. It would have been nice to join in on the festivities and eat some Buddy's pizza but family obligations had me running back home. read more

Not a good place to eat. Our family got sick after eating. And if you go as a crowd. They put everything on one bill "even" if you ask for separate billing. Then they act like your totally out of line to ask again for separate bills. read more

We stopped in again and had another great dinner. I love Detroit style pizza and Buddies may be the source of my growing addiction. This time we bought a bottle of their wonderful vinaigrette salad dressing to take home with us. We had another top-notch server, Kim. I had to give up the coveted 5th star since Buddies not only has consistently good food at very reasonable prices, but they also have very good servers to boot. After being recommended by a ton (about 4 .. Lol) of people across the country who called buddy's their fav restaurant in Detroit, I decided to finally go there with my friends from work. We ordered a ton on things starting from the veggie appetizer sampler, mozzarella sticks, Hawaiian pizza, meat lover, custom pizza and my fav - the Antioxidant pizza (this had my fav toppings - artichokes, mushrooms and spinach) and it was delicious! You really can't go wrong with Buddys Pizza..although i prefer the original location on Conant in the D, this location is ok. The margaritas were the best for 6.25..a Saturday special. Had a 8-square pizza with my fav..pep..it sau..& salami. Its a detroit tradition so lets support them. read more

Came here for an informal Family Christmas party and had an awesome experience fully helped along by our server Korey. She was one of the best ever. We were in Detroit for a weekend for hockey and I think I ended up eating their pizza every day. We brought it back to the hotel after the games and it was tasty then, we ate at the restaurant in Dearborn as well and it was great too. We stuck with the pizza but the other dishes folks were eating looked great too. If you are in the Detroit area, get Buddy's pizza. read more

Great food, decent beer selection. Liquor as well. Great, friendly staff. Gluten free pizza was excellent even if thick crust! (I'm a thin crust lover usually) Clean and relaxing environment. Several TVs to watch sports games. No audio. Milk shake was good but not anything special. read more

Very good food but service was lacking. When you, as the server, promise the customer a refill on their soft drink you need to bring it. Our server acknowledged my request fo a ginger ale refill then never brought it. Instead she brought the bill. I even set my empty glass on the bill holder to remind her and she took it off the holder and took the bill and the cash. read more

My Son who used to live here recommended us to go here. We decided on Pizza and I got a Small/dinner Salad. The bummer was my salad wasn't nothing that they advertise on their menu. No Onion, Cucumber, Garbonzo Beans and no Croutons. Also they advertise Tomatoes....I got one grape Tomato...really ??....you couldn't give me 2....is the budget that tight ? A handful of Iceberg lettuce with a teaspoon of shredded carrots and one grape Tomato wasn't worth $6 . I'm just not the kind of person who will make a big deal of such a matter to the waitress but it bothers me. Our 2 topping Pizza was very good tasting , really like the dough they use and how they cook it makes the outside cheese crispy. Service was very friendly and prompt. Got here in the middle of the afternoon on a big college game day, so it was pretty busy. Seated right away, we orders drinks and our meal (antipasto salad and the GQ Pizza with pepperoni). The salad came quickly, and was delicious, as it always is. Filled with cheese, salami, and ham, it's more a vehicle for caloric gold than a salad. Regardless, it was enjoyed. The pizza arrived an appropriate amount of time after, and lemme tell ya, it was top notch. Garlicky, cheesy, and with a sweet tomato basil sauce, it was perfected only with the crispy pepperoni we added on top. Reason for a 4-star rather than a 5? I think the waitress was at the end of her shift and left during our meal. We were never asked for a refill on our drinks, and didn't receive the ranch we asked for until we stopped a different waitress. We have no clue where the original one went, never saw her after she brought us our pizza. After we got a new waitress, service returned to its normal, attentive, quick self. I'll be back! read more

Having been introduced to Buddy's by friends, I now drive to Dearborn from Ypsi when I need a pizza fix. No other pizza will do, so Buddy's is the only pizza I eat now. The square Detroit-style pizza is outrageously good! And if you care about such things, you'll find the salads are huge and delicious too. The service has always been stellar too. The Oberon helped sooth my sore muscles after a tough move, and (if you're a Ford guy or gal) the entrance has a bunch of neat Ford monikers including the mustang and the blue oval. read more

Best pizza in all of metro Detroit, hands down. My family has been coming here ever since I was born. My brother moved to NYC and every time he comes home he insists on going here. He claims he hasn't found anything in NYC that compares to Buddys...just sayin'. We always get the antipasto salad with extra brick cheese. Stick with their house dressing as it is phenomenal. Their garlic bread rolls are also pretty good. Great place for birthdays and for groups. Since I was in the Detroit area, I had to try "Detroit-style" pizza. After some research I found that Buddy's (although not this particular site) was the originator. I ordered an order of garlic bread and a 4 square "Detroiter" pizza. I found both items to be very good. Specifically the pizza was very good. I thought the sauce especially was very good - a little sweeter than I'm used to, but still very tasty. This is a place I would definitely try again if I am ever back in the Detroit area. read more
