What a great stop! They had plenty of TVs for sports and a pool table. Most importantly cold beer!!! The bartender "Victoria" was super friendly and even gave us koozies for our beers. :)

If dive bar is what you seek, seek and you will find. Buddy's Place is the diviest of dives! The epitome of what a TRUE DIVE bar is....starting right when you step in the front door and that slight interesting smell of the combination of stale beer, urine, and decades of cigarette smoke waft up your nose. Okay, maybe not the best way to positively sell Buddy's, but there are reasons worth hanging around a while...and coming back for more. First, Buddy's is BYOBooze. They sell a pretty impressive selection of beers by the bottle and wine from a box (just guessing; I joke), but they don't have a "hard liquor" license. So, walk in with your bottle of choice and ask for a "setup" - No! Not that kind silly! Buddy's is way classier than that! You get a cup of ice and bev of choice sold by the can or bottle...and then poor until your little heart is content. Buddy's of course has tons of locals, old and young alike. All the friendliest folks anywhere on Burnet of course. I hadn't taken more than two steps in when a gentleman with a ten gallon hat greeted me with a jovial "Howdy darlin'!" Kick back at the bar or take a seat on one of the tattered chairs at the many tables in the adjoining room and simply enjoy the country crooners howlin' form the jukebox or local live music on select nights. For those of you with a more adventurous side, there is shuffleboard, dart boards, and a few pool tables. Is Buddy's a place I would take my grandmother to? Mmmm...probably not. But I LOVE it! The overall "bar tab" is cheap, the people are great, the ladies is clean (they even painted it pink and stapled fake flowers to the ceiling; very frou-frou), and where else are you going see a cutout photo board stand thingy with a cowboy and a sheep (how did I NOT take a picture of that; or with me head in that?! - Next time!)?! If I haven't already convinced you to visit Buddy's, and you're the touristy type or just a huge Mathew McConaughey fan, part of the film Dazed and Confused (1993) was shot at Buddy's Place. "Alright, alright, alright." Bottoms up ya'll! *Thanks KellyS - I probably never would have never found such a rough in the diamond. ;)...and a special thanks for bringing your infectious spirit!....and supplying the "spirits!" :-D

Well...that was an experience. I walk in with my friend for a beer and a chat. As soon as we come in I was like..."wha tha" there were several elderly gentlemen hanging around...a confederate flag proudly plastered on the wall towards the back.... I was thinking...hmm maybe we should just turn round and get outta here.. "hey! welcome!!...where have you been!" says one of the fellas at the bar with a slightly toothless grin. he was nice and the bartender greeted us warmly, which was chill. So we sit down and my friend puts on some old country. Some fella strikes up conversation with us and he was entertaining, but pleasant. All was good...until I saw 2 things...a toilet paper roll with Obama's face on each sheet...i'm like..well...hey.. not everybody likes our President...but then my eyes spot a "mammy aunt jemima" figurine not far from the toilet paper.. um yeh...

From the moment we sat down, the service set a phenomenal tone for the meal. Our server, Avery, genuinely took the time to ask what we were interested in, thoughtfully guiding us through the menu with recommendations that were, frankly, unbelievable. Every single suggestion was spot-on. As for the food, every dish that arrived at the table was a masterpiece: The Brunch Plate: A beautifully classic, elevated breakfast. The sunny-side-up eggs were cooked to absolute perfection, seasoned with a light touch of pepper and spice. Paired with perfectly golden, crispy hash browns, savory sausage, thick-cut toast, and a rich fruit compote, it was a flawless, hearty start to the day. The Beet & Citrus Salad: A vibrant, refreshing standout. The earthy depth of roasted red and golden beets paired wonderfully with bright, juicy citrus segments, creamy crumbled cheese, and fresh greens. It was beautifully balanced, incredibly fresh, and a perfect contrast of textures. The Pesto Pasta: Absolutely spectacular. The pasta shape held onto the rich, flavorful pesto sauce perfectly, which was tossed with fresh spinach, sun-dried tomatoes, and tender chicken, all finished with a generous dusting of parmesan. It was savory, comforting, and packed with bright, fresh flavor. Between the flawless, attentive service and the phenomenal quality of the kitchen, they made this Father's Day incredibly memorable. We will absolutely be back!

A new business acquaintance suggested we meet there and when we walked in, it was surprisingly empty. The manager was our server and he shared some history as he recently took over operating this location a year or so ago. He was well versed in wines and their wines were lower in sulfites so they were less tannic/dry, which is typically my preference in wines. He suggested a wine flight options if we wanted to try different wines, which was nice. We each told him our typical preferences and he created a custom flight for us. To me they were lighter and less bold than I prefer but it was good to try a few different kinds. She had two whites and two reds. I had four different reds. They have limited food options (i.e., two) so we ordered the hummus that was pictured with bread but they were out so they offered pita chips instead, which were fine. He did say that even though they had limited food options, we could order from El Dorado next door and they would walk it over when it was ready, which is very cool even though I typically don't think of Mexican food and wine going together. :-) The overall presentation of the food and glasses was more basic than I would have expected from a wine shop since I've done several wine tastings before, but the location is great and I look forward to checking it out again soon and trying some different wines!

Water 2 Wine is a fully operating winery where all of their wines are blended, oaked and fermented on site. According to Dane, this is how the process works, you come in taste test the wine, choose a wine you like and you can have a batch of that wine bottled with a personalized label. I was thinking of getting one bottle personalized. Wine 2 Wine is focused on bulk wine. While you can order one bottle, ultimately they are set up to produce in bulk. The Margaritas are strong and boozy , making it one of the strongest in North Austin in taste. They ran out of a beer we wanted so they suggested another local brew. It was so great that we went to the brewery a couple days later. Kudos to the great service! As for the food, it was a pretty big menu and everything was good. The person was friendly and we don't have any complaints about the service. But the food was NOT good. I ordered a chicken strip meal because I wanted something very simple and quick. The fries were ok but the chicken strips were so bad. Most of the breading had fallen off somehow prior to me even opening the box and the flavor.. well there was none. My fiance got a burger and he was not a fan as well. We are big foodies and were really disappointed, actually shocked at how not good it was.
