What a great stop! They had plenty of TVs for sports and a pool table. Most importantly cold beer!!! The bartender "Victoria" was super friendly and even gave us koozies for our beers. :)

If dive bar is what you seek, seek and you will find. Buddy's Place is the diviest of dives! The epitome of what a TRUE DIVE bar is....starting right when you step in the front door and that slight interesting smell of the combination of stale beer, urine, and decades of cigarette smoke waft up your nose. Okay, maybe not the best way to positively sell Buddy's, but there are reasons worth hanging around a while...and coming back for more. First, Buddy's is BYOBooze. They sell a pretty impressive selection of beers by the bottle and wine from a box (just guessing; I joke), but they don't have a "hard liquor" license. So, walk in with your bottle of choice and ask for a "setup" - No! Not that kind silly! Buddy's is way classier than that! You get a cup of ice and bev of choice sold by the can or bottle...and then poor until your little heart is content. Buddy's of course has tons of locals, old and young alike. All the friendliest folks anywhere on Burnet of course. I hadn't taken more than two steps in when a gentleman with a ten gallon hat greeted me with a jovial "Howdy darlin'!" Kick back at the bar or take a seat on one of the tattered chairs at the many tables in the adjoining room and simply enjoy the country crooners howlin' form the jukebox or local live music on select nights. For those of you with a more adventurous side, there is shuffleboard, dart boards, and a few pool tables. Is Buddy's a place I would take my grandmother to? Mmmm...probably not. But I LOVE it! The overall "bar tab" is cheap, the people are great, the ladies is clean (they even painted it pink and stapled fake flowers to the ceiling; very frou-frou), and where else are you going see a cutout photo board stand thingy with a cowboy and a sheep (how did I NOT take a picture of that; or with me head in that?! - Next time!)?! If I haven't already convinced you to visit Buddy's, and you're the touristy type or just a huge Mathew McConaughey fan, part of the film Dazed and Confused (1993) was shot at Buddy's Place. "Alright, alright, alright." Bottoms up ya'll! *Thanks KellyS - I probably never would have never found such a rough in the diamond. ;)...and a special thanks for bringing your infectious spirit!....and supplying the "spirits!" :-D

Water 2 Wine is a fully operating winery where all of their wines are blended, oaked and fermented on site. According to Dane, this is how the process works, you come in taste test the wine, choose a wine you like and you can have a batch of that wine bottled with a personalized label. I was thinking of getting one bottle personalized. Wine 2 Wine is focused on bulk wine. While you can order one bottle, ultimately they are set up to produce in bulk. A new business acquaintance suggested we meet there and when we walked in, it was surprisingly empty. The manager was our server and he shared some history as he recently took over operating this location a year or so ago. He was well versed in wines and their wines were lower in sulfites so they were less tannic/dry, which is typically my preference in wines. He suggested a wine flight options if we wanted to try different wines, which was nice. We each told him our typical preferences and he created a custom flight for us. To me they were lighter and less bold than I prefer but it was good to try a few different kinds. She had two whites and two reds. I had four different reds. They have limited food options (i.e., two) so we ordered the hummus that was pictured with bread but they were out so they offered pita chips instead, which were fine. He did say that even though they had limited food options, we could order from El Dorado next door and they would walk it over when it was ready, which is very cool even though I typically don't think of Mexican food and wine going together. :-) The overall presentation of the food and glasses was more basic than I would have expected from a wine shop since I've done several wine tastings before, but the location is great and I look forward to checking it out again soon and trying some different wines!

As I walked up to the easy to find and steps from the PURPLE PARKING GARAGE restaurant, I was already vibing off the patio. Totally giving vacay veranda. The hostess greeted me with a smile, and I dipped into the restrooms before I asked about our table. Of course, I went for a patio table and while I didn't enjoy the occasional fly zipping around, the shaded and breezy tables were perfection on a Sunday afternoon. Our server was Jamie and he was absolutely a DREAM. I was fully prepared for that awkward wait at a table alone when you're lunch date is running late and you have no idea exactly how late... From the moment I was seated alone, Jamie introduced himself, was warm, and fully engaged in manifesting a wonderful experience. He was mindful about sharing just enough with me about the scratch to table mission they have at Doc Bs while saving the good stuff for when both my friend and I were present. My friend ended up going with their special and it was TO DIE FOR!!! I want to say it was Chilean Ahi Tuna Salad? It was some sort of voodoo magic seared onto the Tuna, and they present it like dominoes across the bottom of a giant pile of delightful, chopped salad. I did the Buffalo Chicken Salad, and I ate every crunchy blue cheese tickled bite! Waiting on a friend too? My safe go-to order was the Guacamole! They bring it out with the Sweet Potato Chips - HOUSE MADE and Jamie gave me Tortilla chips too in case my friend preferred something different. They have fans on the patio, so it's not too hot. I'd complain they didn't have the wine I wanted, but when they didn't have my first request, not only did they bring me my 2nd request, but the gentleman from behind the bar walked over a taste of a comparable wine to the one I had originally chosen and I absolutely appreciate that extra effort to make sure I felt valued and seen. Way to go, Doc Bs! **Note: When a fly decided to take a dive and a swim relay in my glass of wine, they didn't bat a lash and replaced the glass for me and seamlessly disposed of Fly Guy in all his drunken Memorial Day glory! Jamie is a treasure. That kid is going places, very impressive spirit.

You'll certainly pay for it, but at least you're getting high-quality food and drinks. I absolutely adore the grilled artichokes, which don't need the tartar sauce because they're already so rich and flavorful, but it kills me that it's $20 for a starter with 4 trimmed halves. The guacamole with sweet potato chips is also superlative, and reasonably substantial in terms of portion size and satiation. For the best value, definitely hit up the lunch menu, where you can get a "wok out" bowl with tofu; a highly competent vegan option. I only go once every year or two, but service is always on point and I never walk away unhappy with my meal. Just make sure you have the budget for it!

I'm certain I would have dozed off in one if we weren't called up. We sat outdoor alongside several other families with kids. The music wasn't super loud and the tables were generously spaced so we weren't close enough for other peoples' conversations to distract from our own. We then ordered the following: Smoked Fish Dip Maine Crab Cakes Brussels Sprouts Fish Sandwich Lobster Grilled Cheese Lobster Pot Pie The smoked fish dip was good but nothing crazy. My sister had suggested the fried calamari instead, but my love of bread overrode my familial devotion. The dip itself was moist with no excess liquid and spread easily onto the provided cuts of sourdough toast. My only critique is that the dip seems like it's missing something, but I'm not food-smart enough to know what. However, because of my bread bias, this is still a 4/5. The crab cakes on the other hand were amazing. There was no excess oil soaking the fried crust and the crab meat inside wasn't over-salted, as I've come to expect from most crab cakes. These were highly enjoyable with bites of avocado and mandarin in between to balance the fried elements. 4.5/5 The Brussels sprouts were well-roasted, with a nice vinaigrette coating their crispy outsides. I expect this level of quality for Brussels sprouts from American restaurants at this point, so no surprises, just good in general. 4/5 Skipping the fish sandwich as unfortunately I didn't get to try them, but it looked and smelled great. I had one bite of the lobster grilled cheese, so take this particular review with a grain of salt. The smokiness of the cheeses sits on top of everything else without overpowering, while the lobster, bacon, and tomatoes provide a great mix of fat and brine. This is a lowbrow surf and turf between bread, and it's perfect. 5/5 Finally, we come to my own order, the lobster pot pie. Unfortunately, I shared this with the aforementioned sister and didn't get the full experience. The dish came piping hot and fresh, and the puff pastry was flaky and not overbaked. Internals-wise, I could see myself eating just the cream sauce like a chowder. It was perfectly flavored with veggies and herbs, with regular chunks of lobster. Not too salty and absolutely decadent, would not share again. 5/5 Overall, this was a highly enjoyable experience with fast, not rushed, service and an amazing spread. This is an easy recommendation for a family-friendly restaurant with lowkey vibes, and I'll forsure visit again when I'm back in town.

The tacos were okay except for the cheese that gets melted on the tortilla on one of them , it just tasted very greasy. The rice and beans that it came with were not good at all, not sure if you're able to tell in the picture but that rice was burnt, half of it was inedible, hard burned rice and the beans were cold. My fiancés fettuccine was too salty and she left 80% of it untouched. The only upside besides the other server who took our order and forgot our chips, our original server was friendly and nice. The drinks were the best thing here and the only thing worth the money. Everything else was not worth the money or hype.
